Connecting the old Apple Pro 2-piece stereo speakers

about 4 yrs ago I bought a pair of Apple pro stereo speakers for my Power Mac G4 and Powerbook. They still work beautifully. This year I bought a new Macbook Pro. I've now discovered that the speakers don't attach to the MBP. I've tried my local Apple store and I've tried on-line searches, I've even bought connective pieces that I thought might work from the on-line picture. The connecting piece to the MBP output port for headphone/speakers is different in size and no one seems to be able to sell me a piece that makes the speakers connect. Has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution?

Yes. No. There are lots of really good speakers that would sound as good and would likely cost less than adpaters and the like.
People used to use Griffin iFire and Griffin Powerwave both which you cannot buy now but maybe find on eBay.
There is a mixed digital and analog thing going on so lopping off wires and the like won't work, you need a D/A converter in the mix.

  • How can I connect an old macbook pro...

How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)?  I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all.  I hope someone can help . Thank you.

Im pretty sure you are talking about the M8536 which has an ADC Adapter.
you will have to daisy chain a thunderbolt to DVI adapter with an DVI to ADC Adapter.
    the first adapter:

The second adapter is old so you may find used ones on ebay like this:

  • How do I get the old Apple ID off of my iPhone and the new one installed?

I got a MacBook Pro and decided to create a new Apple ID different from the one I previously had. How do I get the old Apple ID off my iPhone and the new one installed?

When I tried this, my music stayed the same whereas my new iTunes has only about half the music it used to.  How can I get all the music to clear out so that it can sync my new music to it.  Simply connecting it to the MacBook Pro and pressing Sync has not worked.

  • HT1311 To create a new apple ID, if I sign out of the current Apple ID account, and then sign in with a newly created account, will I lose any songs or apps on my phone or computer that were downloaded from the old apple ID?

To create a new apple ID, if I sign out of the current Apple ID account, and then sign in with a newly created account, will I lose any songs or apps on my Iphone and Macbook Pro computer that were downloaded from the old apple ID?

No, you will not loose anything.  However, if you ever need to update any of that previously purchased content, or re-download it, you will have to use the older AppleID.  Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID you use when making the purchase.

  • I have changed my apple id to a new one. I deleted the old email for the old apple id which is in yahoo. the new one is with gmail. I ahve changed the apple id on my phone. still theres a prompt always asking me to give my password for my old apple id.

In my previous iphone i have created an apple id connected to my yahoo email which is also my icloud id obviously. I decided to delete my yahoo email and changed it to gmail. I have changed my apple id as well. Now here is my problem. I have iphone 5 now. im trying to restore all my data through i cloud. Considering i have changed my email apple id etc, the old apple id is still showing. I have changed it online and deleted the yahoo apple id. but still on my phone its asking for the password of my yahoo apple id which no longer exist. Its bugging me off as i went to apple store and they dont know what to do as well. i tried restoring everything to orginal setting but once i get to the icloud bit, its all the same. up to now its asking for the old apple id password. I dont know how i can delete that as theres no button to delete it on the phone. i cant even restore my photos.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

I have a very old (by computer standards) MacBook Pro, and a newer one.  I've been using the old one mostly for iTunes, into which I have only CD entries.  For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles.  This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased!  But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc.  And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available."  The newer one  a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.
Both are using the same version of Snow Leopard--10.6.8.

  • Griffin adaptor for old apple pro clear bubble speakers?

what is the griffin adaptor for using old apple pro clear bubble speakers?

It was actually the Griffin iFire that adapted the Apple Pro speakers to newer Macs:
    http://griffintechnology.com/support/ifire
Long discontinued, their price on the used market is usually well in excess of the cost of a really nice, current set of external speakers.

  • Should I buy the old MacBook Pro(non-Retina)

I want to buy a new MacBook but very confused with which model to buy. I was very keen on MacBook Pro (non-retina) because of it good specs and the flexibility it provides for hardware upgrades.
But with the launch of new MacBook Pro Retina models, I have been hearing news (rumours) that the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) will be phased out.
Please advise me if it is still a good idea to purchase the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) model ? I am just afraid that Apple might stop supporting the product in future.

I bought my MacbookPro 15.4'' (mid 2012) in the beginning of October and have been fully satisfied, even if it's not Retina. It has IntelCore i7 2.3 Ghz, 1600 Mhz DDR 3 and this alone let draw a conclusion that this is indeed powerfull and efficient machine one could ever wish to own and at the same time to pose a question: what else could one desire? It's definitely OK for the next 5 years and as much as I can determine to derive from it for my needs (by the way I'm convinced it would even meet the requirements of professionals such as IT specialists and the like) this Mac will give me much to benefit from its specs. Mine came with Lion 10.7.4, upgraded then to Mavericks and voila - its performance didn't dissapoint me either.  You should concern more where to buy to purchase high-quality product, of course brand new (not used/overused, damaged both internally and externally). The best choise is to buy it from an authorized reseller, a local Apple Store etc.  Believe me, an "old" Mac (is mine old??)  - speaking of the span of -2,3,4 years prior to this year is a very relative notion: it is TO SOME EXTENT if you compare to the newest models, BUT it isn't so "old" (whan saying the word our psychology distorts this making it sound like "total garbage" which IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT) comparing to the whole Microsoft-based stuff, even pretending to smooth quality (Windows 8 2-in-1 "tablets"). My advice - buy a 2012 model and you won't lose.

  • GeForce 7300 GT from the old MAC Pro don't work on a new mac pro why ?

    Hello,
I have buy a GeForce 7300 GT on eBay, i think this one come from the old mac pro.
I have put it on my new MAC PRO and my mac don't see it...
    Why ?
    Can i have a drivers ?
    TY for your help ^^

Apple was emailing people that did, not sure if they still do.
It would be so easy to say "Mac Pro (2008) or later" instead we have:
Compatibility: * Requires Mac Pro with PCI-Express 2.0
Which not everyone knows is, or means "Mac Pro (2008)"
They do need a tech note or knowledge base to go along.

  • How can I tell the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display and the old MacBook Pro with retina display by looking

I'm just wondering the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display which was just released in October 2013 and the old MacBook Pro with retina display.

Thank you for the reply! As you said they looked exactly the same, so I'm not able to tell the differences just by looking, right? I'm thinking to buy a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display, but I'm not buying the MacBook in Apple Store, I'm buying it in other shops, how can know whether they are not selling me the old model of MacBook Pro with retina display?

Bought with "hands" iPhone 4-cdma (and it is tied to the old Apple ID owner data I do not know) what to do? Very need help

You are experiencing Activation Lock.  If the previous owner will not remove the device from their account there is nothing you can do unless the place you purchased it from will give you a refund.
    Activation Lock: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?
Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. For complete instructions, read how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock. If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
Begin the device setup process. After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to icloud.com/find. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.

  • Chance of retrieving those images off the old Apple TV?

I have a v1 Aple TV that we just replaced with a new Apple TV. The onlty one showed pics that were no longer in my iPhoto library due to an external HD loss. Is there any chance of retrieving those images off the old Apple TV? Can it be connected and searched via the iMac or another way?

You'd need to remove the internal drive and connect it to a Mac to do that.

I have successfully changed my apple id via computer.  Now, how do I change it on my actual phone?  I have the 5.1.1 iphone 3G.

I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!! Now I have two addresses and can't access the one that directly affects my devices.
