Connecting the Xserve to DMZ port

Hi all,
As a security need I need to connect my web server to a DMZ port on our Firewall router. I was wondering if connecting one 1G port to our internal switch and one to the DMZ port is secure enough or do I have to buy an extra server to service our web hosting?
Thanks,
Ziv

There's not enough information in your post to be able to answer your question.
What is it you're trying to achieve?
What is your definition of 'secure'?
No one can tell you whether you are 'secure enough' until they have some idea of what you're trying to do.
If it's a matter of trying to setup the server to handle requests from external clients on the DMZ net while also serving trusted clients on the internal net, then that's what the two ports are designed to do. However, without knowing what services you're running it's impossible to tell what extra steps (if any) you need to take to secure the system.

Most likely one of the following:
    Loose or bad connections
    Bad cable(s) or plug adapter(s)
    Faulty Belkin adapter
Which adapter are you using - miniDP to DVI or miniDP to VGA?  If DVI, are you connecting to your TV via DVI or HDMI?  Are you using any plug adapters in addition to the Belkin adapter (say, DVI-HDMI plug adapter vs. a DVI-HDMI cable)?
Did this work before?  Is this a change in behavior?
Can you try connecting to some other external monitor or TV to test?

  • What plug adapter do I use to connect the new Macbook USB-C port to a cinema display?

What plug adapter do I use to connect the new Macbook USB-C port to a cinema display?

If you intend to connect your 2008 display to the new macbook then you will need a USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter ($79) as well as a mini display port to VGA port adapter ($29) and also a VGA-VGA Standard 15-Pin VGA Male to VGA Male Cable ($5).

    http://www.amazon.com/VGA-VGA-Standard-15-Pin-Male-Cable/dp/B0002AHT0M
The 2008 old cinema analogue Apple Cinema Displays were mostly pre-quipped with a mini display port rather than a  VGA or HDMI port. So you will have to connect the mini display port to VGA port adapter to your 2008 ACD and the USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter to your new macbook and connect the two female VGA ports with a VGA-VGA Standard 15-Pin VGA Male to VGA Male Cable.
But I can't guarantee though that the above setup will work for your new macbook and your 2008 Apple Cinema Display. You should double check with Apple support regarding my suggestion. Just let me know.......

  • Quad port Gig-e card for the Xserve?

I've been playing with link aggregation and noticed a couple of PC PCI cards with 4 trunkable ports. They say that drivers exist for Linux and Unix boxes. Does anyone know of one that'll work on an Xserve? We're changing the way we work to all open files (1-3GB) from the server, all 7 of us. I want to illiminate network bottlenecks but with the limited PCI slots in an Xserve I want to maximize each slot. We will all be aggregating our Quad's dual ports to a compatible Gigabit router which will support 8 aggregated groups of up to 8 ports each. I'd like to do 4 ports for the server. Thanks

    If i may ask,
Are you using the intel cards sold by small tree comm.? or did you purchase the quad port intel cards as an OEM? I purchased the OEM intel Dual port Pro card, and although the card appears to work fine utilizing single gigabit connections, I have NOT had any luck with LINK AGGREGATION, to our Switch. I DO have The Trunks setup on the switch and I believe the switch side is fine since our Xserve is successfully communicating with the switch as a Link Aggregate using the Built in ports of the xServe. Any info would be helpful, Thanks!

I still don't know what happened to my test Aperture Library after the update to 3.4...Not only were my previews lost, but so were the original images!  Needless to say, I haven't bothered to update the main library on the Mac Pro because I don't want to deal with this level of uncertainty (even with backups in place).

My ipad 3 is frozen on the plug into itunes page - it won't turn off or on - just stuck. I have tried to follow advice I have found on these pages but I don't know how to connect the ipad to my mac (the advice is to connect ipad to mac and there is no usb port on an ipad). • How to connect the macbook with thunderbolt display 27" to TV with RGB port?

    Hi,
I have the following equipments in hands:
    1. Macbook PRO 15 inch with 1 thunderbolt port, OS is Mavericks 10.9.2
    2. Apple Thunderbolt display 27" identical to this : http://www.apple.com/displays/
    3. A Samsung TV with RGB port, & HDMI port.
I want all these displays ( macbook, Apple thunderbolt display & the Samsung Tv) connected at the same time, I had a trial to connect them using a minidispaly adapter to RGB port & HDMI port  in the TV but it didnt worked.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

The Thunderbolt dock adds extra ports:
HDMI (up to 2560x1600 with the Elgato, 1920 x 1200 with the CalDigit)
    3 USB 3
    Ethernet
    Audio in
    Audio out
You could also use a Belkin Thunderbolt dock.
    <http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F4U055/>
It includes a FireWire port, but no HDMI port, so would need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (1920 x 1200 max) for the TV.  This would use the second Thunderbolt port, so the Belkin dock has to be used with the port on the back of the Thunderbolt display, not between the computer and display.
If you don't need the extra ports, use a Thunderbolt hard drive (with two Thunderbolt ports)
    <http://www.seagate.com/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/backup-plus-desk -mac-thunderbolt/>
This can be your Time Machine drive.  Connect the Thunderbolt display to the computer, one port of the drive to the port on the back of the display, and a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to the second Thunderbolt port on the drive.
You will have three displays with differing resolutions, so mirroring is not going to fill each screen at full resolution.

  • HT4951 Can i use a Thunder bolt display with an iMac from the mid 2009 ? Would it work if connected to a mini dvi port in a scaled down mode or is it compulsory to have a thunder bolt port ?

I have a mid 2009 iMac that doesn't have Thunderbolt display, but has a mini-dvi port.
Will the Thunderbolt cinema display 27" still work when connected to this mini-dvi port ?
I thought it would be better going for a thunderbolt display monitor rather than the older version, so when i upgrade my machine in the future it stays compatible.

I have a mid 2009 iMac that doesn't have Thunderbolt display, but has a mini-dvi port.

No.  A TB display can only be connected to a TB source.
    Confusing Mini DisplayPort with Thunderbolt
As indicated in that artical a displayport device can be connected to a TB source.  But that is not your situation.

Ok, fair enough.  But since Job's death - Apple's control on leaks has been terrible.  I got the new iPhone, and I like it - but it hasn't made nearly as big as an impression as previous ones.  Because of the vast ammount of leaks.  With the iPad mini leaks, it's 99% sure to come out next week.
Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers.  It's possible to do so, I just want to know how.  I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing?

You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network.
