Connecting to a HD DVD

I want to connect my Toshiba HD DVD player to my Airport express so it can update the firmware.
My airport express is connected to an airport extreme.
How do I do it ? My hd dvd player keeps signaling that it is not connected to the internet. What settings do I have to give to my Airtport express or do I have to use a hub or such ?
Thanks,
Yves

Hi Duane.
It is connected thru the ethernet port. Since the Airport's port is a WAN port, I tried connecting thru a router (connecting the Toshiba in a LAN port and connecting the router thru the WAN port). I thought that would do it, but no. I still get a message of not being able of connecting to the server. Althought thru the router I got an IP address. The only thing missing was address for the server.

  • How to connect Apple TV to DVD blu-ray home theatre

Hi guys, I am planning to buy Apple TV2 and I was wondering is there setup guide for connecting to HDTV and home theatre system. I currently have LG HDTV and LG DVD Blu-ray Home Theatre. They are connected with HDMI 1.3 cable and I had to get optical cable to get sound from TV to Home theatre.
How is Apple TV fits into that? I have 1 HDMI slot free on TV and 2 HDMI inputs on DVD system.
I was thinking just to connect Apple TV to DVD via HDMI? Would that put sound on home theatre system?
    Thank you in advance.

You have read home theatre manual about playing sound from external device.
You doesn't need to connect home theatre to tv at all as you have get video from apple tv.
Connect video output from apple tv to tv(may carry sound along) and optical cable from apple tv to home theatre.
That will do. You can mute sound of tv(in case hdmi carry sound along) or using other function(on samsung ) and hear from home theatre sound from speakers.

  • Connect HDTV to VCR DVD combo device and Motorola 7101 Cable Box

Hi all, first post.  Am not too saavy re: new technology.  Iam trying to connect my Panasonic VCR DVD combo to my TV:  Sony HDTV and Verizon 7101 Cable box.  Should be fairly straightforward but being technologically illiterate it is very challenging.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks   Jergen

There are usually several choices. If your DVD/VCR has S- inputs and outputs, the preference is to run S-Video cables from the cable box to the DVD/VCR, and from the DVD/VCR to the TV set (that will be another input on the TV). The S-VHS connections will provide the best standard definition video quality.
The audio is more complicated. I ended up using Y cables so that I could split L and R audio outputs into two L and two R audio outputs. , one set runs to the TV, the other  set to the VCR/DVD audio inputs.. You will need to run Audio cables from the DVD/VCR from the audio outputs on the VCR/DVD to the audio inputs that correspond to the S-video input you are using for video from the VCR/DVD to the TV.
Generally you have to enable the S-vide input on the DVD/VCR if it has one, and it usually an option with an Aux input.
If you DVD/VCR unit doesn't support S-Video input, then you run a cable from the composite video output on the Cable box to the composite input on the DVD/VCR. You still have to split the audio. If it doesn't have S-VHS input, it may not have S-VHS output, in which case you run composite video to the TV in addition to the audio cables.
IF neither of those are appealing to you, the cable box also output SD TV on either Channel 3 or 4 (your choice), and you can just run a coaxial cable connection from the cable box to the DVD/VCR instead of the Audio and Video cabling, you can also run a coaxial cable from the DVD/VCR to the TV's antenna input and tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 (your choice, determined by whatever channel the DVD/VCR is set to output on). If you use Coaxial cable, whatever links you use it with do not need the AV cables, however the picture quality will be substantially lower than S-Video, and somewhat lower than the composite video.

  • Connecting black macbook to dvd player, then through projector

    Hello,
I'm using the composite video adapter to hook the macbook to an auxiliary port on my samsung dvd player, and then using component a/v cables to connect to the projector, and I'm getting no picture/sound. I would hook the macbook straight up to the projector, but I get no sound that way. Am I doing something wrong here? Can this be done?

When trying to hook up straight to the projector, are you hooking the sound to the (headphone) output jack for sound?
The Mac Mini-DVI out is apparently only video but no sound. --> http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/MacBook_Mid2007UserGuide.pdf (page 24-25)

  • Connecting iMac to Panasonic DVD Recorder

I need to connect my new iMac to my Panasonic DVD Recorder, which only has 3-RCA input. I tried it via connecting the iMac to my HDVT and then from the TV to the DVD Recorder , but that did not work. Is there a way to connect the iMac to the DVD Recorder? With my Windows Notebook it's no problem at all. I want to record movies from a German TV Station, that streams via FlashVideo.

I assume you are trying to send the signal from iMac to DVD recorder, not the other way, although it is not entirely clear.
The Mini DisplayPort does not provide a signal for composite output. Therefore, there is no simple adapter that will output to an RCA connection.
Maybe you can find a way to capture the stream directly and bypass the need for the DVD recorder.

  • Connecting Youview box to DVD and TV. Now ordinary...

Hi, Does anyone know how to connect a TV, BT Youview box and a DVD recorder together.  I have two SCART, one RF and one Aerial connection together but now we cannot watch our ordinary TV.  I need this for my son.  It is probably a simple connection error but we can't work it out.  Any help greatly appreciated

Put the aerial feed in to the YouView box 'antenna in' and connect a cable from the YouView 'aerial out' to the 'aerial in' on your TV. Connect YouView box HDMI out to HDMI socket on your TV if you have one. If not connect the YouView to SCART to your TV SCART. Connect your DVD player to the other SCART socket.
Use the AV setting on your TV to switch to the YouView box and:
Go in to you YouView menu as follows:
YouView/Settings/Device Management and make sure 'RF Loop Through' is set to ON.
This will allow you to access your own TV's tuner and YouView also.
Use the 'AV' setting on your TV to switch between TV's own tuner, YouView and your DVD player.
HDMI is preferable but if you don't have any HDMI sockets - and most TVs do these days - then SCART will have to do.
I hope you get it working.

  • DVD connections act differently in DVD Player than in simulator

Before I burn my DVD I check all of the connections. When I play it in a DVD Player, sometimes the same buttons do different things, but when I come back to the project everything is correct. I have to have the master for my client in two days, they are making 2,000 copies...please help.

There are about ten chapetem markers on each track, and each subtitle section has three invisible buttons. The defalt button and then one to go up and another to go down. I have different tracks like this and you can't get to the tracks chapter points untill you are on the track. Everything works fine in simulator and on some dvd players but others get all mixed up????

  • Yellow Red White connections on Old Sony DVD

Can I connect Apple TV to the Yellow - Red - White input connections on the Video input (Aux Video 2) of the Old Sonly DVD surround home theater?
Second, can I correlate the Y R W connectors from Sony to the R B G jacks on the Apple TV?
Do I need another type of cable to connect Apple TV to Sony video?
Do need to connect an Audio pair of cables in addition to the (3) wire component video setup?
Failing these possible solutions, what cable(s) should I purchase? I live close to an Apple Store!

Connect Apple TV to your widescreen TV via an HDMI cable (sold separately). This single cable delivers both audio and video. If your HDMI port is in use, or if your TV doesn’t have an HDMI port, connect using component video cables with analog audio cables or with an optical audio cable (all sold separately).
You cannot do it with just the YRW jacks. At most you will just get black and white. If you don't have a media center that has the right ports or a tv with the right ports, not much you can do but upgrade one of them.

  • Inspire 5.1 5200 connectivity problem with lg dvd 5.1

    :mansad:Hii All
Please help me out with one connectivity problem. Recently I purchased Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 speaker system with one LG DVD 5.
From the speaker sub woofer system three output comes out which are EP. Now the LG DVD have six input in the form as mentioned below: <- Centre Box // 2- Sub Woofer Box // 3- Front Left // 4- Front Right // 5- Rear Left // 6-Rear Right.
Now I have tried by fixing the EP to EP-RCA(2) converter and plugged in to all the six DVD input. But all in vain since sound from two speakers could be heard. Right now I have fixed all the three EP to/-> 2- Sub Woofer Box// 4- Front Right // 6-Rear Right. But the performance in audio level is not at all satisfactory.
Please help me out with proper connectivity.
    Regards

I bought this Inspire 5200 some six months back. I use it with DVD player and have used it with three different DVD players, but the problems I face while playing DVD is that I mostly receive sound in front speakers, center speaker and the sub-woofer only. I say mostly as at times I get sound in one of the rear speaker as well, but that is very rare. My right rear speaker is completely dead, I have not heard any sound out of that lately. I have connected the speakers properly and checked by chaging cables as well, but of no use. I tried changing the DVD players as well, and have set them correctly to output 5.1 channel sound, but of no use.
I feel I should take it to the service center. But then, I have heard a lot of complaints for the service center here in New Delhi in India, specifically that they take very long to get the product repaired or replaced (at times more than 2-3 weeks) and make you visit several times before giving you the product back. Don't no what to do? Any sugestions?
