Connecting to a Printer attached to Airport Extreme in VMWare

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280 connected to my Airport Extreme. Both my Macs and my wife's windows PC can print to this printer.
I installed VMWare Fusion on my iMac because I need to use Windows (XP Pro) to connect to the office systems. I am trying to configure this printer on Win XP (with VMWare Fusion as the host), so far with little luck. I have tried to install as a local printer, as a network printer and have tried to install the printer using Bonjour.
I have searched through the VMWare website and have found nothing. Can someone please point me to where I can find some documenation on this topic.
Thanks

So which of the 2 instructions to use?
My problem is similar. External on AEBS. My macs can see it fine, husband is sadly on a PC and he can't find anything. He searches for it via the screens shown in the first instructions. Nothing there.
Dumb question. Does he have to load Airport Utility on his PC to be able to see the disk?

  • Connecting a wireless printer to my Airport Extreme

I recently had to reset my network and base station passwords on my Airport Extreme.  Before this my printer was working fine and connected to the network without an issue.  After I changed the passwords I tried to connect the printer again.  it found the network and I entered the new password and received an error message on the printer saying the passkey was invalid.  My printer is in such a location that I cannot easily connect it to the Etreme with a USB.  Any idea what I need to do?
    Thanks

    Hi Cherish53812,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you have recently changed the password for your network and when trying to get your printer connected you are getting an error that it is the wrong password. Have you tried accessing your Keychain on the Mac to make sure the password you are inputting is identical, even one wrong character or capatilized letter can cause the connection to fail. Take a look below at accessing your Keychain passwords:
How to manage passwords with Keychain Access
Also make sure you did not change the encryption type, you need to make sure these match as well for a successful connection. So if you have your Airport Extreme on a WPA encryption, you need to make sure you are selecting that type when trying to connect.
Please let me know the Exact model of HP Printer you are using as well as your current Mac OS X? I will watch for your reply.

  • Adding a printer attached to Airport Extreme

I have just got around to trying to add a printer to a new AE. The instructions (and messages on this forum) say to go to the Printer Set-up Utility and Add a printer using Bonjour.
I am probably a bit dim but I can see no reference to Bonjour at all in the pop-up box. Do I have to do something else first?
    Regards,
    Neville

Trial and error would be normal for this request. I have used a Belkin 7 port USB hub without issues to a Time Capsule or an Extreme.

Is it possible to have Time Machine backUp computer HD AND external HD connected to Airport Extreme.
    Sorry, but no.
Time Machine will backup your Mac, but not the hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme.
Time Machine will back up a hard drive only if it is attached directly to your Mac via USB or FireWire.

  • Can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer with the AirPort Extreme Base. The printer is NOT connected at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, and is placed in another room. It worked just fine with my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). Help me!

    Hey Guys!
I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...
    Can you help me? Please?!
    Thanks Folks!

This must be a tough one, no suggestions at all.

  • I can't see hard drive attached to Airport extreme from Windows XP computer

I have a Windows XP computer on my network. I can no longer see the network hard drive attached to Airport Extreme from the XP computer. I can see it with all the MACs on my network and all the Windows 7 computers. I can connect to the internet with the Windows XP computer. I previously had no problem seeing the network hard drive attached to the airport extreme from the XP computer and one day it just disappeared. I have deleted and reinstalled Bonjour, not just Bonjour print services. I can print to a network printer that is not attached to the Airport Extreme. Help!

Well, I'm stumped. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple support-- they ran through the scenarios I had already been through, and they came up with nothing useful. I ended up taking a second 160gb HD that was formatted NTFS, and formatted if for HFS+. This drive was visible through Finder. I took the same drive, formatted it for FAT32 and, surprise, surprise, NOTHING VISIBLE.
The "just works" philosophy is OK, but it's bunk when it comes to network drive support. I'm doubting the wisdom of this purchase now.
$2500 for a computer that can't connect to a network drive that can be seen by an $500 Dell laptop?
The issue simply seems to be this: put a FAT32 drive on another box, and it can be shared by Macs and Windows boxes.
Put that same FAT32 box on an AirPort Express, and my Mac is BLIND. It can't see the drive.

  • Why can't I no longer connect to the Internet via my AirPort Extreme Base?

I suddenly can no longer connect to the Internet through my AirPort Extreme. Everything was fine until this morning. My Base Station is connected to a DSL modem and then my computer connects to the Internet wirelessly through the Base Station. The center light is on in the Base Station. The left light flickers telling me there is wireless activity. I can still access my printer through the Base Station. But the right light is no longer flickering. I have rebooted everything several times. Does anyone have insight into this problem. This is the second time this has happened. For over a month I could not access the Internet through the Base Station, and then suddenly and arbitrarily it started working again. This morning it just stopped again.

I've had the same problem - mine started after I upgraded to 10.4.8 on my MacBook a week or so ago.
I can see other networks around my home and when I travel, but can only connect via ethernet cable (and my ISP is comcast - I thought the upgrade was supposed to help make connecting with comcast better).
My G3 has no problem connecting, so I don't think it's exactly a problem with my modem, or base station, or even comcast. I think it has something to do with my base station and upgrading to 10.4.8. Btw, dropping back to 10.4.6 hasn't helped.

  • HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printing Problems with Airport Extreme & JetDirect

I have a HP Laserjet 3600n connected via ethernet cable to our Airport Extreme base station using the built-in JetDirect functionality of the printer. Prior to installing Snow Leopard we had no problems and every computer on the home network could see and print with full functionality on the printer.
After installing Snow Leopard, it took a while but I got the printer working again with the same setup. Then we had a power outage and the printer was no longer visible on the network or in the airport settings. Again it took a while but I once again got it to work. But now it seems like it keeps falling off the network and the printer itself either shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 or another random one. The IP address should be generated by DHCP by the airport.
I don't know if this is a problem with Snow Leopard, the airport extreme, or the printer. The way I got it to work the last couple times no longer fixes the problem. Someone please help.

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?

  • Is it possible to connect 2 usb devices to an Airport Extreme?

Is it possible to connect 2 usb devices to an Airport Extreme (either the newest, ac model or the previous model) using a usb hub?

Apple does not provide a compatibility list for USB connected devices, so no one can tell you whether things will work until you try it out yourself.
If both the Iomega drive and HP printer work when you connect them individually to the AirPort Extreme, then your chances using a powered hub are quite good....assuming that the USB hub is functioning correctly.
In other words, make sure that both devices are working when you try them individually connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. If they don't work that way, they won't work with a powered hub either.

Once you have the drive connected to your Mac, click System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    Click Time Machine
    Click Options
Be default, the hard drive will be Excluded from backups. Click the drive to highlight it, then click the "-" (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the drive from Excluded items.
The drive will be backed up on the next Time Machine pass
Everything above assumes that the hard drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as Time Machine will only backup drives in that format.

  • Printer supported by Airport Extreme

What All-In One Printer (Printer, Copier, Fax) works with Airport Extreme. I currently have HP Officejet 5610xi All In One Printer but I could not add it on the Airport Extreme Router. Also, I have both Mac and Windows PCs networked via Airport Extreme. I have tried setting up the PCs by bonjour for Windows. Would I have a problem with this kind of network? I am particurlar with print sharing - ie both my pcs and mac should be able to print via APE.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link.
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help:
o Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if the printer you are interested in is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • Connecting samsung surveillance cameras to internet airport extreme 7.7.3

i have the samsung sds-v4040 and I'm not able to connect to the internet through the airport extreme 7.7.3
i been trying but I'm not really computer friendly with MAC address or dtp or tcp i seen them but don't know what to do. can some one help me plug the info in the correct places? thank you

To successfully access an IP camera on the local network from the Internet, the following basics need to be taken care of:
Install the camera(s) and verify that you can access them from the local network.
Configure port mapping/forwarding on your router. Typically, IP cameras require at least two ports: 1) A web port for administering the camera; Usually TCP port 80, and 2) A streaming port to broadcast the camera video feed; Usually UDP port 9000. Note: You should check with your camera's documentation for the exact ports required.
If the camera is attached to a computer, you will need to configure the computer's firewall to open the same ports as in step 2 above.
Verify that your modem is in bridge mode, i.e., if the modem provides NAT & DHCP services, turn them off.
Test your network. Use CheckIP to determine your router's current WAN-side (public) IP address. Then, from a remote location (not from a computer on the local network), use the DynDNS Open Port Tool to verify that the required ports are open. Success is an "Open" response from the Tool.
For basics on configuring port mapping/forwarding on your AirPort, please refer to the following AirPort User Tip.

  • Epson T23 - How to make your printer share on Airport Extreme.

Hello everyone. I hope this info can help anyone within the same situation I was!
I bought an Epson T23 (a cheap printer here in Brazil) to substitute my old Canon iP1300. Everything was fine. I've installed the Epson drivers that came with the CD and both my Macs (iMac 24 and MacBook Black) were printing without problems.
But when I connected the Epson T23 on my Airport Extreme to share the printer over my network, I was very disappointed to discover that the Epson priters DID NOT WORK at all! My old Canon printer worked like a charm over Airport but not the Epson. I've tried every solution Apple had to solve this kind of problem and nothing. I even wrote to Epson Brasil but their support is non existent.
I was already thinking in return the printer to the store when I've discovered an alternate set of printer drivers called Gutenprint on SourceForge. After I installed them, the Epson T23 finally share printed over my Airport Extreme (even though I've used Epson T20 Gutenprint drivers - until the date of this post there are no specific drivers for the T23 series).
    https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?groupid=1537&packageid=273638
So, this is my tip if your having trouble with Epson T23 drivers using Airport Extreme: use Gutenprint.

Estou com o mesmo problema. Se vc puder me dar + informações... Eu não achei o drive no site, não sei bem o q procurar... Vc fez como se estivesse instalando outra impressora?
