Connecting to FTP using a Mac

I can connect fine with my PC and make edits to sites. When I try to connect with Mac it gives me an FTP error. I read it might have to do with MTU or ISP settings? Not sure where I find those or how i fix this.

If you are using DW on your PC and connecting fine, try this...
1. From your PC version, go to Site > Manage Sites
2. Click the site you're having trouble with and hit Export. That will create a .STE file to copy to the Mac
3. On the Mac, from DW go to Site > Manage Sites > Import to import that copied .STE
4. Verify your root folder goes to the correct site folder on the Mac
5. Try connecting

Connection with pc using airport mac

I had it working then I made some changes on my pc now I cannot connect. I have a linksys router wrt54g. The pc is connected wired the mac by wifi/airport.

now no matter what ip address I put in it does not recognize it. The strange thing is that to pc is able to commect with the mac.

I have tried to connect a friend's IPOD which he used on a Mac Platform, onto my Windows PC platform. Itunes nor Windows Explorer seems to recognize my friend's Ipod.

To read a Mac-formatted iPod on a PC, you need third-party software, such as XPlay (http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/).
Although it's not supported by Apple, Macs will read a PC-formatted iPod just fine.

Remote Connecting a PC to a Mac Server

The Mac Server we've purchased for our company has been working great. Our employees can easily access files by remote connecting from home using their Macs.
But we have employees that also use PCs from home and I have been unable to figure out how to get them connected remotely. I've searched the internet and have read the entire Mac OSX Server training book I bought without any luck.
I'd like the share points to show up as network drives, just as they do when connecting locally.

I've been struggling with this for weeks. My provider blocks port 139 which is reserved for SMB. VPN won't help because my PC users are outside the server local network...which uses port 139 that is blocked by my provider.
The way I see it, there are two ways for windows users to get access to a Mac OS X Server
1) move all your files to the folder that serves WebDAV (/Library/WebServer/Documents) and let your Windows users connect via WebDAV. This means all of your files have to be in this folder. I find this very cumbersome but probably necessary.
2) remap your port to provide SMB on another port besides 139. Apple Enterprise Support says this is pretty involved and they won't support it unless I go with a higher-priced service plan.
I'm trying to find a third solution such as using another protocol (NTP, AFP for Windows??) that will allow Windows users outside my local network to connect to my server.

Want to setup FTP server on Mac 10.6 using Airport Express

I am wondering if it is possible to use my mac as a FTP server with Airport Extreme. When I connect my mac directly to cable modem I could get an unique address for the mac. However, when I connect via Airport Extreme the address was changed to 10.0.1.3. This address can be used only in the same LAN but not from the outside.

You should be able to configure your AirPort Extreme to map the FTP ports to your Mac. In AirPort Utility put the AirPort Extreme into "manual setup" mode, then select the "Advanced" panel and the "Port Mapping" tab.
To make this work well you should first assign a "reserved" IP address to your Mac using the Internet panel, DHCP tab, "DHCP Reservations" section.

The Bluetooth profile HCRP is :
HCRP (hardcopy cable replacement profile). This profile allows the transfer of rendered data between Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as between a laptop and a printer. It is assumed that the client device (in this case, the laptop) will include a driver that renders the data. Note that Mac OS X supports Bluetooth printing through the Mac OS X printing API.

To have the HCRP profile, you'll need to have Bluetooth software 1.5, or later. I'm running OSX 10.2.8 and ASAIK I have Bluetooth 1.3.2, so I don't have the HCRP profile.
You can use the Bluetooth Setup Assistant in /Applications/Utilities to configure your Bluetooth device, once the device is within range.
To sum up, whether the Bluetooth adapter in the link will work for you depends on the OSX version you're running on your G4. I would guess if you're running Panther, or Tiger, you'll probably have HCRP.

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?... or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

First, is your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) a 802.11n, 802.11g, or 802.11b model? Second, what is your primary goal for using this base station? Finally, is the AEBS the only router in your current network configuration?

I did not say it is not possible.
I said if your company networks are monopolizing both ports, you should talk to them about what options are available.
Maybe you can get the company Intranet over wireless if you change some configuration items such as Subnet Mask.
Maybe you can get on the Internet over Ethernet.
You really need to ask them, and do not let them blow you off because you have a Mac. If they balk, ask them how it would be done on a PC (becasue it will be the same on a Mac).

I currently use a Mac Pro 10.8.4 and have a time machine for wireless 6.3 (630.34). Sometimes I cannot connect to the internet and use network preferences to diagnose the issue. This results in being told to restart the wireless. The airport utility includes the drop down option of restarting but is not clickable so I can't choose it.
With my prior macbook and same time capsule, etc if i had problems connecting to the internet I would run network diagnostics to help out. This included clicking on the airport utility ---> base station --> restart. This worked most of the time.
Bottom line, is there something I am missing in not being able to restart the wi-fi remotely? ]

You are likely forgetting a step.
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit in the small window that appears
Now click the Base Station menu.....top of the screen....not the Base Station "tab" in the center of the screen
Click Restart

iPhone has been set up to wirelessly sync when on charge yet I get this error when the iPhone is not even charging!
I work for a mobile network operator and although this isn't something we support anyway, we would usually stumble across something like this when customers call us for advice prior to contacting the manufacturer for support, yet this hasn't been a call driver so I'd imagine this is isolated... (either that or not many people have updated their device and set up the wireless sync lol)...
