Connecting to Griffin RoadTrip

so i recently purchased a RoadTrip. I had been using the DLO transdock (1st gen) and was not completely satisfied. so i purchased the RoadTrip and took it out to the car to try it out. the green light would come on but it is almost as if it doesn't recognize the ipod. it doesn't charge or transmit or anything. so i took it back and there was no change. i checked by ipod's dock connector by plugging it into my computer and my ipod connected fine. what could be the problem?

found out the fuse in the car was blown. works perfectly now. and btw, i like it more than the transdock for anybody shopping

  • Griffin RoadTrip not working with iPhone 3G any more

    Hi,
my Griffin RoadTrip is not working any more with my iPhone 3G.
Always message that this accessory is not compatible with iPhone, but before, it worked and now it doesn't any more.
(On Griffin case, it's mentioned that the accessory is designed for iPhone 3G)
    any tricks for this?
    Thx

Mine was working fine for about 6 months.  Then, I started getting a "not compatible message."  I called Griffin and they suggested a soft reset of the iphone 4s.  The message went away but now the FM transmitter is not transmitting.  Griffin sent me a brand new one (free) but the FM transmitter still does not work.  That tells me that the iphone changed -- probably after an update.

I request feedback on the "Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter and Charger." Good points and bad points are requested.
    TIA.

Works great for my wife. Very little static, and we live in Los Angeles. Very easy to use.

  • IPod continually crashes when connected to Griffin iPod to TV Cable

Just about everytime I connect my iPod to my Griffin iPod to TV cable I have to reset my iPod, and then it works after the reset. I think its a griffin issue.

    Contact Griffin to confirm.

  • Volume control will not respond when iPod connected to Griffin iTrip

When I connect the iPod Classic 80GB from the bottom to the Griffin iTrip and to a 12 volt source, and listen to the music on an external FM radio, as in a boat, I cannot change the volume through the wheel of the iPod. I have to go to the radio to change volume.
What do I have to do so that the volume can be changed from the wheel of the iPod?
I would appreciate very much the solution to this problem.
    Suribe

This is normal - cant adjust the volume from the iPod if we connect it via dock (the bottom of the iPod). If you would like to adjust the volume with the wheel of the iPod, then you should plug your iPod via its earphone jack - of course, different cable i.e. minijack to RCA audio cable

  • Looking for a particular extension cable to connect an iPod to Roadtrip

    Wondering if this exists...
I've been using a Griffin Roadtrip for months, but I no longer want my iPod mounted on it as I drive. First off, it just rattles too much (I'm nervous about damaging the bottom pieces inside). But most importantly, I've found that I keep removing the iPod from the mount too often as I skip through or search for songs.
I was wondering if anyone knew of an extension cord that connects between the Roadtrip's "dock" and to the iPod itself, allowing me to lay the player on the passenger seat next to me. I guess both ends of the cord would have to end in a "dock" piece.
I realize that I can just buy a new car kit that will allow this (such as DLO's TransDock Micro), but I did spend a hefty sum for the Roadtrip gadget and don't want to abandon it altogether.

No and No. Sell your original iPad and buy the iPad 2 if you want to do Facetime.
It may be a hassle to you to sync them to the computer, but if your iPod and iPad were both stolen while you were out and about you will be glad the music, pictures, etc. are on your computer. And I hope you are regularly backing up your computer.

  • Trouble with Griffin's Roadtrip

I love my new ipod with video, but I can't listen to it in my car. I am having trouble with my griffin roadtrip. There are only two fm stations that have nothing on them and when I tune to either of them and hold the "quick start" button nothing happens. It charges my ipod fine and the light changes from red to green. I have never used this type of adapter before and don't know if I am missing something basic, or if this is a common problem.
    I would appreciate any suggestions!

  • Belkin Or Griffin For iPhone In Car?

I want to listen to music which is on my iPhone on my car radio.
I have no choice other than to go down the FM transmitter route.
Which should I go for? The Belkin TuneBase FM With Clearscan OR the Griffin RoadTrip With Smartscan?

    Hi Julian,
I have the Belkin and while it works faultlessly with all the family iPods and my iPod touch, when I connect my new iPhone3G it complains that the accessory was not designed to work with it.
After I cancel that message it does work, but there isn't a specific cradle adaptor supplied to hold it securely in place, unlike for the iPods.
I have no experience with the Griffin.

  • Connectivity problem with an FM transmitter & bulky case

Does anyone else have this problem?
I want the protection with a case (I have the Speck Toughskin because it protects the best), yet I also want a nice FM transmitter (I have the Griffin Roadtrip, which is extremely crisp & clear). However, when I put the iPod in the Toughskin case, it is physically too big to fit into the Roadtrip dock. Apple needs to make a male-to-female cable so we can plug our iPods into the FM transmitter without having to actually put it in the dock.
    Does anyone else agree?
Send feedback to Apple if you do.
Anything else you can think of that I can do?

Is the iSkin a good case? From the picture, it looks a bit flimsy. Like a little piece of aluminum or something.
Also, the iTrip is not the transmitter I'm talking about. It has poor transmitting. The iSkin may be compatible with the iTrip, but can it fit into the Roadtrip? The Roadtrip has a dock to fit into rather than something to fit on the top of an iPod.
I don't know what you mean by:
arent you forgetting the need for the power from the remote >socket on your adapter idea?

  • No sound following iTrip connection

So I recently connected my Griffin iTrip device (model P1591) up to my new iPhone 4 so I could play my music through the stereo in my Jeep. It occasionally would play and appeared to not work correctly with the new iPhone. After determining it wasn't going to be compatible with the new phone due to lack of functionality, I disconnected and went about my merry way. However I now keep getting a pop up randomly that reads "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone" and continuously pops up with no particular reason or trend. I've tried reconnecting the iTrip, deleting the iTrip software, etc all to no fix of this issue. The biggest problem however is that it apparently has triggered something on the phone to make it believe that the iTrip is constantly connected, causing there to be no sound what so ever through the "external speaker" or speaker phone speaker of the phone. I've only been able to get ring tones to play through it, and when headphones are plugged in, everything appears normal. The volume controls of the iPod are completely gone, however I can play a song. Any suggestions or known fixes for this? I'm attempting a restore of the phone now to see if that fixes it.

Have tried multiple restores from both my old iPhone, and as a new iPhone, and still have the message popping up. I've even tried uninstalling all software that doesn't normally come with the phone. Suggestions?

  • Help, I'm new to the iPod

I bought the iPod nano yesterday and bought the Griffin RoadTrip for the car that charges and has the FM Transmitter. The problem is that when I plug my iPod into it, it charges but won't play over the radio. Yes, I do have my station on the same frequency it shows on the display. Yes, I did hit play on the iPod. I guess my question is, my iPod doesn't play without headphones, but the roadtrip has no connection for my headphone jack, is that the problem, or is there a setting in the iPod I'm missing to get it working. Thanks, I'm still an iPod retard right now trying to figure it out.

    Hello moog,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting your nano?

  • ITrip w/ dock connector giving constant background hiss/static

i know there really isn't a forum for 3rd party gear but i thought some of you may able to help me out.
i am using a 5th gen ipod. for car audio solutions: i started with the griffin roadtrip apparatus.. it was clunky and the sheer weight of the ipod caused a real finicky electrical connection resulting in the thing cutting out every time i hit a bump. so anyway i returned it and got a griffin itrip (with dock connector) and a powerjolt cigarette lighter adapter. the form factor is way better than the roadtrip but the thing has a constant background hiss... is this normal of these?? i mean it is subtle but it definitely doesn't give crystal clear sound... the roadtrip on the other hand did give a much cleaner signal. anyway now i am thinking of returning these two items (the power adapter and the itrip) and getting the new "itrip auto". but before i do this, does anyone know if it broadcasts as clean as the roadtrip or better yet does anyone have a work around for the static problem of my current setup? ideally i want the form factor of the itrip and the cleanliness of the roadtrip's signal.
    this is such a pain!

does anyone have a solution to offer? i have 8 days left to return the itrip!

  • Car charger+Audio out recommendations

I'm trying to find a good car charger+things for my mother's iPhone in her car, and hoping someone has some advice on the right equipment...I'm not turning up the right thing myself.
I really want something LIKE the Griffin RoadTrip, or Kensington LiquidAUX, but they just don't do everything right.
    Here's my requirements:
    - Needs to have a shelf (cradle?) that she can sit the iPhone in and remove easily.
    - Needs to have audio out jack or auxiliary cable. My mom's car has a tape deck, and she can connect the iPhone that way.
    - Must fit an iPhone *without removing the case*.
    - Should have as few connections, cords, etc as possible. My mom has bad arthritis and I don't want to have her struggling just to hook the thing up.
    Optional:
    - Should have a power cord as well. If someone is riding in the passenger's seat and using the iPhone, would be good if they can use it and still have it plugged in.
    - Wireless remote that connects to steering wheel?
    - It can have a radio transmitter. She just won't use it. Just as long as it has an auxiliary port.
The Kensington LiquidAUX comes really close. Ideally, I want something like that, but with an extra power cord for when the iPhone isn't sitting in the cradle.
I saw something that was perfect at Fry's today. It was only $30, too. It was a charger that had a flexible iPod connector, adjustable width grips to hold the phone in. It had a USB port so you could plug another charger cable into it if you wanted. It even had a transmitter (won't work well with iPhone, but won't be using it). Unfortunately, it only had a Line *IN* port, not Line OUT. Gah!
    Thanks for any tips...

It seems that your wish for a cradle + a separate power cord might keep you looking. Don't have any recommendation for a unit that I know covers both your requirements and optional considerations.
I did however drop in to share my experience with the liquidaux (both the deluxe and standard versions). First, either model of the device does what it purports to do well - it charges and connects via aux in. No fuss and no surplus wiring. The audio quality is clear and loud enough without having to mess around with the volume on the phone itself. This makes sense given the audio output is through the pin connector. Second, the remote is one of those items that become indispensable.
Now - in my experience, the deluxe model's cigarette connector somehow manages to fit tightly as you insert it but then develops a 'wiggle' once you seat it in all the way into the socket. This wiggle leads to intermittent power (and by consequence audio) connections. On the other hand, the standard model (without the gooseneck or dock) fits into the socket securely and does not exhibit the same intermittent connection. Initially, I thought the wiggle in the deluxe model was attributable to the weight of the gooseneck + cradle + phone. That wasn't the case. The wiggle was still present without the phone.
Since I am going on a road trip tomorrow, I decided to buy the Belkin Tunebase instead. Seems that the most recent model F8Z183 is just as hard to find in retail stores as the 3g iphone. So I settled for the liquidaux standard - thinking I could always return it if it exhibited the wiggle. It didn't - I'm pretty happy with it.
Of course, given your requirement for a cradle, I would say that the liquidaux standard might not be suitable for your mother. I'm not certain that the tunebase will leave enough room for cradling with a case either. Either way, as I said in my opening, I don't have a specific recommendation but hope that the information regarding the liquidaux deluxe is useful.

Is there something I have to do to send my user stuff though so I can see whats on my desktop?
