Connecting to internet problems after Bootcamp Windows 7 install

I have just purchased a MacBook Pro, 13 inch, and have successfully used Bootcamp to install a partition, Windows 7, and the Windows support software. Problem is that Windows 7 is not detecting the WiFi video card and I cannot connect to the internet. I had downloaded the Windows support software directly from Apple in the Bootcamp forum. Apparently you can't do it using Bootcamp without the download hanging up. Is there an updated video driver I should be looking for? The MBP uses an onboard Intel video card.

The only source of the Bootcamp Support software is from within Bootcamp Assistant. Try again and be patient. The download servers are extremely slow.

  • Printing Problems after Reader 10 install

Recently deployed Reader 10 to about 300 workstations using Group Policy.  Several machines are no longer able to print to some of the network printers.  These printers are HP printers using the Universal Print Driver.  When trying to print we get an error and the Adobe Reader application crashes.  It will however print to other network printers that are using an older device specific driver, printing to the same print device.  Have downloaded the latest HP driver, but it has not helped the situation.  The printing worked fine with Reader 8 and Reader 9.   Anyone with an Idea?

Sorry only know Windows: Edit (menu)>Preferences>General>Application Startup>Enable Protected Mode at startup.

  • *Problems uninstalling itunes/quicktime after using windows install cleanup

I was having problems installing itunes/quicktime 7.6. Everytime I tried to install it it would say that it does not have a valid digital signiture. So one of the suggestions I saw on this forum was to install windows install cleanup and use it on itunes and quicktime. So I did but all it did is mess up my old itunes/quicktime. Now when I go to try and uninstall itunes and quicktime from the add and remove programs in the control pannel it does not even show itunes or quicktime in my program list. Any suggestions??

Ok, Update. I was able to remove itunes and quicktime manually after going into my windows task manager and to the processes tab and ended all processes involving itunes, apple, or quicktime. So now when I install itunes/quicktimes via apples site when it gets to the end it just disapears and nothing happens. I searched to see if it installed anything and it didn't, didn't even give me any reasons why. Can anyone help me with this?? It would help me a ton!

  • Lost Linksys password after new windows install

I have had my Linksys E4200 for a few years now. When I'm home my cell phone and laptop both use my wireless connection. My desktop computer had the main Cisco console which provided the passwords to both my cell and laptop.
My problem is I recently had a virus attack to my desktop from clicking on a bad email link. I couldn't remove the virus so I did a clean windows install. I can't find my Linksys router box but I found my CD disc. The disc is asking for my password which is probably somewhere in my original box (which of course I can't find now). My router has the model number and mac address but I don't know how to reinstall my console without my original password.
I never disconnected my router when I did my new windows install on my desktop, and my computer still recognizes my Linksys router. When I click on the device icon it says, "network connected", Catagory: wireless network router, Manufacturer: Cisco, Model: Internet Access Server. Is there enough information so I can recover my password and install my console again? Thanks...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello DuMartin,
It is asking for the password you set up for your network. If that will not work, then it would be best to reset and configure the router again.

  • Stuck in Bootcamp Windows install and can't get out

late 2009 iMac with Mavericks with homemade fusion drive with super drive removed.
Was working fine until i tried to use bootcamp to install Windows 7. Now I'm stuck in the Windows partition, windows won't install and can't get out of the loop.  Machine boots white screen with no apple logo and chimes. Eventually has black screen with No bootabe device -- insert boot disk and press any key. I have a USB drive. I've tried everything. Doesn't seem to be recognizing bluetooth keyboard. No sort of button combination on startup works. Tried holding X, command-alt PR, shift, command-R, option. Tried everything. Light doesn't come on on keyboard in startup which means it's probably not recognized. Tried disconnecting internal drives and booting from USB. Tried booting from Time Machine USB drive. Nothings works. Think a USB keyboard would solves this?

I have gotten in this loop.  When doing this kind of thing, a usb keyboard would be good to have around, and that is probably the problem, because when I would boot, the first time set the windows partition to the default drive.  Hold the key combo and boot into OSX, and go into Settings/Startup Disk/ and change it to The osx hd.

  • Problems after bootcamp

For my school I had to use a windows program so I made a partition and so on and installed windows which all went well.
But windows was very slow and now the same thing has happened to my snow leopard.
Then I removed the partition, erased the disk and installed snow leopard 10.6 again but now everything is still very slow. While my cpu usage is very low and even with typing this post little round colourish thingy goes spinning.
I don't know what could be the problem any suggestions?

little round colourish thingy goes spinning.
This sound like the bootcamp / win install may have messed with your PRAM. Older article, but still may be relevant "Can BootCamp mess with your Mac's PRAM?" (http://www.zdnet.com/blog/apple/can-bootcamp-mess-with-your-macs-pram/1524) states:
+Or perhaps the correct video setting in the Mac’s PRAM is changed by Windows (or Boot Camp), so that Mac OS X asks for a bogus setting when the system reboots. These video settings are stored in the PRAM.+
If that is the case, then may want to look at "Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM" (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379) and "Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1242).

  • Sync problem after reinstalling windows

Last week I had Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes and my iPod could sync without any problems. But after I installed Windows 7, even if I have the same iTunes version, it won't sync anymore. I even tried a reset on the iPod and reinstalling iTunes, nothing works. I don't even get an error message. All it says is this:
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An internal device error occured.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (0xE8004006).
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. There are too many files open currently.
Another one with a duplicate file, but I can't get it to appear right now.
It's always a different one. And sometimes iTunes even crashes and I have to reopen it.
    What should I do?

have chosen to manually manage my iTunes library rather than copying all these MP3s to the iTunes folder.
Do you mean you checked *Manually manage music and videos* when the iPhone is selected? This is completely sepearate from managing yoru library. This allows you to manually manage the content on the iPhone.
Can I backup iTunes without actually making a backup of all my music files?
Yes. Copy /Music/iTunes/folder to the external drive.
My problem is that after reinstalling Windows my iPhone now wants to erase itself
So you have already reinstalled Windows?
If so, you cannot backup anything that is not there since you you already erased it when you reinstalled Windows.
BEFORE you reinstall Windows, you need to Deauthorize iTunes and backup /Music/iTunes/folder and all your media.

  • Please help no sound in mac ox after bootcamp window 7

    hi,
need help me my problem, just intall window 7 using bootcamp it work i can use window is normal, my problem now is when i use mac os x i do not have any sound on my speaker, can some guide me with this problem please help

    Hi Charlotte,
You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
    IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.

  • Problem using bootcamp to install windows 8

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and have updated the software to 10.9.1
I am trying to install window 8.1 using Bootcamp.  Windows is on a disk connected via an apple external drive.
After initiating Bootcamp, downloading software to a USB drive, partionining the hard drive, things just don't go anywhere after that.
It asks me to insert windows disk, computer restarts, then screen goes black with a question "hit any key to boot from CD", then back to start screen  - skipping installation.
    What gives?

    What you need:
An installation disc with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8, or Windows 8 Pro.
You must use a single full-install Windows installation disc. You cannot use an upgrade version of Windows.

  • Internet not working on windows installed by bootcamp

    Hello,
Recently I installed Windows 7 on my imac late 2011 using bootcamp.
It worked fine, I am able to go on windows and see the windows screen and such, but when i tried connecting to the internet it wouldn't work(I tried a ethernet cable and WiFi)
It's not the internet itself because I am using the same method right now on os x. This just occurs when I go on the windows portion.
Any idea what would be the cause of this? and or solutions?
    Thank you

Which OS are you running on Mac? Lion? your 2011 woulld have to and while some have trouble with internet and wifi - the Apple drivers should worked, Boot Camp 4.01 that you saved and installed to Windows.
Your Windows 7 disc should be SP1
So you don't think it is your router, modem or anythng - but what device are you using?
And, did you buy retail, system builder, MSDN or school ISO? 'cause burning to DVD can install and still fail.
And if you don't 'have 'net access then your Windows OS is not even current either - SP1 is already close to a year old.
Also the choice in what you use for security/AV, Malwarebytes or whatever and being configured and that it isn't an issue with firewall (or settings in router too)
Check Device Manager and tell us what networking device shows, including chip, then google for that driver.

  • Windows XP boot problems after latest BDM Installed

    Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.1
    Hi Everyone,
I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager on a Dell Laptop yesterday and after a reboot it took forever to boot into Windows XP SP3 and when it did the machine was completely unresponsive.
I eventually managed to get the Task Manager running and it turns out that the process called System was using 99% CPU constantly.
Safe Mode took 20 minutes to go into Windows and again windows was unresponsive to the point I was unable to open the Control Panel and uninstall BDM.
I tried Last Known Good Configuration to no avail and in the end I reinstalled the System from Scratch.
I couldn't be 100% sure it was the installation of BDM that caused the problem because Windows had installed some updates so I figured a clean install would be a wise move.
I clean installed XP and updated to SP2 and everything was working perfectly again this morning so I tried to install BDM again - same problem!!!
The system is in a state of unresponsiveness again and I am trying desperately to get into Safe Mode to uninstall BDM which will hopefully restore my PC to a working state.
Does anyone have any ideas I can try or has anyone else experienced this?
I am relatively new to the Blackberry world but I am competent with Windows XP and a manner of technical issues but this is something that is really causing me a headache.

I have had the same problem repeatedly since I first got the 'update avilable' message on my Dell xp sp3.
I've found that turning off communication speeds up the computer so that you can go to a restore point or remove the program through the windows add/remove facility.  On my machine (Inspiron 6000) it is fn and f2 keys together.
I did NOT have to rebuild my system.
And thank you - I was beginning to think it was me
