Connecting to Mac OS X with VNC-viewer, time out

every time I try to use a VNC-viewer on my PC to connect to my mac
I can connect once, then I lose the connection and I can't re-connect until both my mac and PC have been restarted.
though I never have problems connecting to other systems,
does anyone know how this can happen?
I use a 100Mb/sec connection to connect to Mac OS X 10.5.8
from a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate RC, anyway I try to

Try using Vine Server
<http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16699>
The built-in Mac OS X VNC server (aka Screen Sharing) does not play well with strangers.
The one thing that has sometimes helped is to make sure you are not trying to use "Reduced Colors". But failing that, get and install Vine Server (make sure it uses a different port from the build-in VNC server - try 5901).

    When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

    Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
    The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
    There should be a folder called "Audio"
    Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
         Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
          In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
          Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

    Do the usual wireless things.
    Change the wireless name to simple name with only alphanumerics and no spaces.
    Set to manual and use channels 1, 6, 11 in turn.
    For testing take off the security altogether.
    The iphone only works on 2.4ghz so only that band is relevant.

  • WE05 takes a long time and ended with error message: time out

    Hello,
        When user trying to use WE05 transaction it takes more time and ended with error message time out.In the WE05 tranaction even i tried with minimal search options(like for just 2hrs duration,for one day) still getting the same error.I think there must be problem in EDIDC table.
       Please suggest solution for this????
    Regards,
    Loki.

    You have to enter the selection ctiteria on WE05, might be there is a huge data on these tables. So the best option is to enter the selection criteria as much as you can to get the IDOC list. Also check the sie of EDIDC table and analyse the number of IDOC on that table. Make sure that index are updated of the table

  • Connect to VM console directly with VNC client

    I used to be able to connect to a VM's console with the VNC client by logging onto the OVM server where the VM was running and discovering what port the VM's VNC server is listening on (xm list -l | grep location). Now it seems that doesn't work anymore. Is there still a way to do this with OVM 3.1.1?

    It appears they have disabled this feature in 3.1
    If you look at the vm.cfg file on an old 2.x server it is of the format
    bootloader = '/usr/bin/pygrub'
    disk = ['file:/var/ovs/mount/3D2FD7081A3D49FCBA309AF1316E028F/running_pool/212_ThisServer/System.img,xvda,w',

    I have tried replacing
    vnclisten = '127.0.0.1'
    with
    vnclisten = '0.0.0.0'
    and it opened up the port but I could not connect successfully with tightVNC. Tight VNC appears to make a connection but you cannot see anything.
    You can see what ports by running a 'netstat -nat' on the VM server (command below I removed unimportant results)
    [root@ovs-c9-28-2c VirtualMachines]# netstat -nat
    Active Internet connections (servers and established)
    Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
    tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:5900 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:5901 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5902 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6900 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6901 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6902 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
    As you can see above the port 5902 is listening while the others are set to localhost and used by the VM Manager for VNC connections.
    I also tried adding in the vncpasswd line like below and was prompted for a password but the VNC session failed. Note it also broke the VNC access from the manager.
    vnclisten = '0.0.0.0'
    vncpasswd = 'letmein'
    That said Oracle do not support manual modification of the vm.cfg file (unless pinning CPUs) so going in there is probably not a good idea.
    I think the only solution is to install a VNC server on the VM directly.
    Edit:
    Further to this you will note that there are also ports 6900 - 6902 which are definitely related to the VNC connection. I tried connection to these ports with no success however.
    It appears the manager is acting as a tunnel for the VNC as when I have a valid connection (from manager) to the server on port 5901 I see the following
    [root@ovs-c9-22-2c VirtualMachines]# netstat -nat
    Active Internet connections (servers and established)
    Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
    tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:9020 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

    can you connect a macbook pro with a samsung galaxy note via blue tooth
    it seems that they will pair but as soon as the mac has connected it automatically dissconnects
    i was informed in the apple store before i bought it that it would be ok
    any thoughts

    The USB port on the Time Capsule is used only to connect a hard drive.
    Connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule if you do not want to use wireless.

    You will need a mini displayport Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cord.

  • Connect from Windows through screen sharing (VNC) and get out of full screen mode

    How do you get out of fullscreen mode?
    I connect to a OS X Lion computer through a Windows computer (which actually also is remote).
    I use TightVNC software on Windows to connect. It's the only VNC software I am able to connect to OS X Lion with. TightVNC is kind of weak otherwise in the way that it does not have features for OS X targets - like you can't send "command" key pushes, or even Ctrl pushes and other F2 etc keys just don't really work.
    Which means I cannot exit full screened apps by way of Command-F or similar. Moving the mouse cursor to the top of the screen also does not pop down the menu (although on some occasions I have been able to do this, I'm not sure how and it's terribly hard to reproduce).
    I'd need a on-screen way (like a button to click) to get out of full screen mode.
    Any ideas???

    Are you using TightVNC because you found it was the only VNC client that worked well with Mac OS X built-in VNC server?  Or is there another reason?
    Vine Server (aka OSXvnc - free to use the server)
    <http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11283/vine-server-%26-viewer>
    plays nicer with 3rd party VNC clients, so that you could try any number of other WIndows VNC clients.  Maybe one of those will do a better job of sending Command/Control/Option keys.
    But if you do install Vine server make sure you turn off Mac OS X Screen Sharing (and/or Remote Managment) so that you do not conflict with port 5900.  Or via Vine Server configs, tell Vine Server to use a different port number, such as 5901, then make sure you connect to the correct port from your Windows client.

  • When the new Mac Pro's with E5 Processor coming out? Please help

    Hello People.
    I am in desperate situation at the moment. I had a late 2008 Mac pro which i recently sold and bought the new 8core 2.4ghz Mac pro from best buy about a week ago. As soon as i bought it, i found out that Apple is coming out with a new Mac Pro loaded with the new xeon E5 processor. My question is that when Apple is coming out with the computer since the rumor said its coming out in the beginning of March. I paid $3400 for the new computer and i really want the one which has all the new stuff in it. I have about 2 weeks left to return the computer to Best Buy and at the moment don't know what do.
    Does anyone has answer to my question?
    Thanks

    Seeing no one, not WSJ or ComputerWorld or CNBC, just speculation. For all we know it will be another mid-Summer too..
    I do think the 2.4 8-core is a ''weak' system choice. More apps and more productive to go with a higher clocked 6-core or something.
    I'd direct attention to www.macperformanceguide.com that argues, if you need it don't postpone for what might be.

    Even if there was an annoucement it often takes time to sort out, ship, etc.

  • Camera / USB card reader not connection to macs anymore - fine with PCs

    Hi there,
    I have a Canon EOS 50 which has a CF card - I normally connect this to our macbook pros with a crd reader via usb. Alternatively, I connect the camera directly.
    Yesterday, something started to go wrong.
    I was connecting the card to download photos - at first it recognised the card as an external drive, but was taking ages to read the photos. Then it flashed an error message up that it couldn't read the format of the disk (it had previously for about a year!).
    Now when I connect the card via either reader or by connection to the camera, it doesn't recognise the card at all.
    I tried this on both my mac book pros we own. Same issues.
    Canon HD camcorder connects absolutely fine via usb, as does Ipod - so it isn't the usb port.
    I think the cards are ok- (same issue with two different CF cards)
    The camera connected no problem to my brother-in-law's vista machine, and downloaded the image files.
    I tried connection with two different usb cables as well.
    Any ideas as to what has happened?
    Thanks,
    ThreeIsles

    Last year I purchased a USB card reader to have available with my laptop when I travel. It experienced the same problems you are having. It also wouldn't work with my G4.
    I looked on the manufacturer's web site and sent their Customer Support an email explaining the problem. They sent me a new reader at no cost. It works. Suggest you do the same.
