Connecting to Multimedia Projector

When I connect my MacBook to the multimedia projector through HDMI, I get only the opening screen of the galaxy and the videos doesnt show up on the screen. Any ideas to fix it?

HDCP missing is the likely cause.

  • External Multimedia Projector with Powerbook

I use my G4Powerbook, 12", to connect to a multimedia projector for teaching. However, every time it connects it automatically increases the size of the desktop and programs. So when I project images from a website, the images are too big for the screen. I am using 1024x768 display resolution. Is there a way to shrink everything down so that the display appears normally as if there is nothing connected to it?

Press the F7 key to toggle between display mirroring and extended desktop modes.
In extended desktop mode, both the built-in display and the projector will be able to operate at their native (maximum) resolutions and display different windows.
In mirror mode, the projector and the built-in display will always operate at the same resolution and display the same image. If the projector has a lower native resolution than the Powerbook's display (say 800 x 600), then the Powerbook's display will be limited to that resolution too, and a window that filled the screen at 1024 x 768 will be too large to fit on it at 800 x 600. That may be what you're seeing.

  • Problem with multimedia projector

We have intermittent problems connecting with a Sanyo multimedia projector. I have tried switching mini-vga converter and it does not solve the problem. Does anyone know if this is a known compatability issue with ibooks and multimedia projection?

If the issues are related to 'supported' iBook resolutions verses those
the projector is supposed to run on, one of the means toward making
them work has included using a software utility named [ SwitchRes X ].
There may be some other issue behind problems you encounter in the
use of a projector and an iBook or other portable. Some projectors may
support a different video signal than the iBook can use. (I don't know.)

  • Connect MacBook to projector

Need to connect to a projector to do a powerpoint presentation. I bought a Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter and it connects fine to the computer, but the other end is a female end with 15 holes and the projector has different female connections. I assume I need a male to male with 15 pins to make this work. ???

    Thank you.

  • HT4437 I have a Macbook Air, an iPad3, and Apple TV.  I want to be able to use the iPad3 for training through the Macbook Air which is connected to a projector.  Any ideas?

I would like to be able to show my iPad3 screen through the Macbook Air that is connected to a projector.  I attended an Apple Training presentation and the presenter was using this set up-how do I get it set up correctly?  I also recently purchase Apple TV because the presenter said that she was using this device with the Air and the iPad.

If you are trying to connect the iPad to the Macbook, then try this app: http://www.reflectionapp.com/ The iPad also supports connecting straight to the Apple TV, so you could try it that way too.
          Hope this helps!

  • When i tried to hook my macbook pro up to a projector to show a dvd, the screen on the computer and projector screen went black as if it were trying to connect. yet it didn't show up. The dvd played when it wasn't connected to the projector. any ideas?

When I tried to hook up my macbook pro to a projector and play a dvd, the dvd wouldn't work. I would only get an error message. The dvd worked when it wasn't connected to the projector but doesn't work when it's connected. It just shows a blank screen as if it's trying to connect. Also, the connection works when I don't play the dvd. Any ideas?

    Hey there lynmrigg,
It sounds like have an HDMI to VGA adapter connecting your MacBook Pro and your projector but the screen on your computer goes black and no image appears on the projector. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve or isolate the issue here, named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • My MacBook Pro with Retina display displays power point and not other windows when connected to a projector

My MacBook Pro with Retina display displays power point and not other windows when connected to a projector. Can anyone help out please?

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • I've used a Hitachi multimedia projector with my previous MacBook with Snow Leopard but I can't get it to project data from my new MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

My new MacBook Pro with 10.8.4 does not seem to work with my Hitachi multimedia projector which works find with my older MacBook running 10.6.8. Is there anything I can do to get the projector to recognize my Mac or is it the other way around? (It would be nice to just carry one machine instead of two. Besides it's not a good advertisement for the new MacBook Pro!

Are you using the same cable and input connector with both systems?
Are you using the same (or corresponding) settings on both systems?

  • I lecture for a living. My old G4 connected to LCD projector worked great.  My new MacBookPro connected to LCD projector - the displayed images look as if I used "pastel colors" instead of bright colors.  Help !

I lecture for a living. My old G4 connected to LCD projector worked great; image displayed on computer monitor is same as that projected by LCD. However my new MacBookPro connected to the LCD projector displays washed out images, as if I designed my Keynote lecture using pastel colors. Also my black & white x-ray images are blue & white. Help !

Thank you for your quick response to my question.  The Apple Genius Bar tried adjusting the color settings in my MacBookPro, as stated in the document you attached.  It did not help ... my Keynote lectures are still pastel, and my x-rays are blue & white. I should have stated this in my original query for help.
    Again, many thanks for responding.
Did the Apple Genius explain to you why it did not work or even if it's possible?

  • Connect iPhone to Projector?

    Guys,
Can any one let me know of how to use the iphone to connect to a projector so that we can simply demonstrate the application on a large screen? (just as shown in Keynote!!)
    Earlier response is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Goldeni

I haven't found an apple-approved, uncontested way to do so, but I know there is an outside application that allows this. However, its legality is being questioned. The point is that it can be done. I just wish apple would make it available for us. I don't see why not. The same goes for a video camera application. I need to work on excell live in front of students without having to break my back lugging a computer around, and unless apple wants to donate a few, we can't have one in every classroom. You can make a ppt presentation aforehand and process it via other PC programs into a mpg3 movie and play it on the iPhone, but that's not enough in a lab setting.

  • Connecting to LCD Projector

Before owning my current MacBook pro Core2Duo I had MacBook Pro CoreDuo and PowerBook G4. With these previous laptops I was able to connect to LCD projector no problem. Now I am in Japan in big business meeting trying to connect my newest MacBook pro to the same projector as was working with my older Mac and nothing. I tried mirroring on and off, change projector resolution, change display preferences. Nothing. I had to copy my PowerPoint to someone who had Dell PC and work off it.
Any idea how to fix MacBook Pro that it would work with LCD displays.

    Hi,
I had some trouble initially, too, but now I use the "detect displays" option and it usually works fine. Here are a few more tips copied below--these are not my own--but I forgot to make a note of who to credit.
    Good luck,

    Projector Troubleshooting
For some reason, Apple thinks it's important that you connect the VGA cable to the adapter first, and then the adapter to the computer, in this order. Have you done this?
Try forcing the MacBook Pro to re-detect displays by pressing F7 (or Fn+F7 if you have customized the function keys).
Go to System Preferences>Displays> and click on “detect displays.” Also go to Arrangement and then check the box that says "mirror displays."
Also try setting the resolution output to whatever the projector is (1024x768?).
"To detect the TV or other external device, hold down the Command (x) key and press the F2 key. You can also open the Displays pane of System Preferences and click the
    Detect Displays button.
6 To adjust how the image is displayed on the device, use the Displays pane of System Preferences."

  • Connecting to work projector

Just bought my first MBP last thanksgiving, and was excited to be able to use it at work ( I teach at a local community college). The connection to the projector is a serial port, and usually you just have to plug it directly to the laptop. Of course, I do not have a serial port. I have been told that it is not easy / accessible / advised / allowed to run a completely new wire, so I am looking for a female serial adaptor to ??? I have googled for serial to usb, but cannot seem to find a female serial adaptor to connect their cord to my computer. Any suggestions? Should I be looking for a different adaptor? I'm still new to most of the ports on the Mac, and am not really sure which would be better.
I've tried a forum search and either am not listing the right search criteria, or cannot find a similiar question. Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much! I admit, I then had to go google a picture of the vga cord, and yes, I think that is what it is. I realize it was a simple answer, but thank you very much for taking the time to educate me
