Go onto your service providers internet website eg.internet.t-mobile.co.uk or something like that and you register an email with the provider. If you use enterprise then I don't know anything about it

  • Why is Mail trying to connect to an unknown mail server (and how do I stop it)?

Hi - I'm worried that someone has hacked into my system so that it tries to connect to a fake mail server (perhaps to send spam)? I usually have the activity window open when Mail is running, and noticed that it was trying to connect to an unfamiliar mail server the other day - it was shown as an IP address whereas all the mail servers in my mail accounts have names rather than IP addresses ... so I copied the IP address down and searched for it (196.201.4.6), to find that it is run by malawi.net ... in Africa. I recently upgraded to Mac OS Lion, so initially I had figured that it was showing the mail server address differently, but I couldn't think of any reason that my email servers would be in Malawi!
By now I was getting worried: I checked all my mail accounts to be sure that something had not changed, and confirmed that none of my accounts used this mail server (or mentioned the IP address); and confirmed that the "Connecting to server "196.201.4.6"" activity message only appeared when I first reconnected to the internet (i.e. now when I manually clicked on "get mail") ... which suggests to me that it is a hidden process somewhere?
I don't have a virus checker, but downloaded ClamXav and ran a check on my user folders ... but found nothing.
Any thoughts on what this might be, or - if it is something malicious or externally controlled - how I can remove it?
    Thanks - andy

Hi - "display remote images in HTML messages" was already deselected, so I don't think it was an HTML message connecting.
But your response made me wonder about whether it was something else in an old email that was causing the problem - I had a search and found some emails from back in 2006 (when I did some work in Malawi for CARE) that were from the mail server (mailer.malawi.net = 196.201.4.6) that has been appearing. However, I still don't understand why (six years later) Mail is now trying to connect to this server ... I'm pretty sure that it never used to happen (and I have been a full-time Mac user since 2003), as I always have the activity window open and would have noticed, so it is only since I upgraded to Lion last week that it started. Any thoughts? I could delete/archive the old emails, but I would really like to understand what is happening?
    Thanks - andy

Will you please help me to review my code and give me some suggestions ?

No point looking at the code. The error message says the code can't connect to the server you are trying to connect to, so presumably there's a firewall or something like that preventing the connection. Talk to your network people.

  • Can I connect open source evolution mail client to an OCS Mail Server?

    Hi.
I'm trying to configure an evolution mail client to connect to OCS Mail Server. The idea would be to evaluate this solution over costly MS Outlook. I'm aware that Oracle provides a connector for outlook client and that this facility might offer certain functionality not available with other mail clients. So far, i can connect, send and receive mails. However i can't access the distribution list in Oracle Mail Server, or put in other words, i can't access the OID. Evolution offers the option to connect to an ldap server, but i've not been able to connect. The guys as Metalink tell me that if this client can connect to an ldap server one could accessed the distribution list in OID.
    So :
    - Has anyone out there tried to connect this mail client or any other open source mail client to OCS Mail Server?.
    - Can evolution client really connect to an ldap server? one like OID?.
    Thanks in advance ...!

    Hello Luis!
I have in the past used different mail clients to connect to the OCS. So as a fact as long as they speak POP3 or IMAP you should be capable of reading your mails.
However I did not try to use the distribution lists.
What exactly is not working with the connection to the OID (LDAP) from the Evolution client?
Did you try to set the logging in the OID to a higher value? This helped me lots of times when dealing with OID problems.

  • New iPhone won't connect to Cox e-mail

I have a new iPhone 5S and I cannot get my connection to Cox e-mail.  It says my password or username is not correct but it is.  I am OK connected with my computer and I have other members of the house connected to their accounts of of the main (the one I am trying to pull into my phone).  They are on POP but mine (and Apple) says mine is IMAP.  Driving me nuts

Many times updates to bluetooth profiles on phones will render them unable to connect to vehicles because of differences in versions. I would either check the list one the side of this thread where it says "More Like This" and see if there is an answer there for you, or check with Ford and see if there is a firmware update for the sync system. I have read of updates to the sync system have corrected these issues.

  • Can't connect to my iCloud Mail Account with the Mail.app OSX

    Hello,
i have a problem with my mail.app on my macbook air. i reinstall the osx on the macbook air, current it works with mavericks. and after that i cant connect to my icloud mail account, but it still works with my other devices (iphone5 and on icloud.com).
an errormessage appeared on my display after trying to connect.
sorry for my english, i hope you understand my problem and so we can solve it, hopefully.

I have 5 IMAP and 1 POP (Hotmail).
    The Yahoo is IMAP.

  • IPhone not connecting to Yahoo incoming mail server

My iphone is not connecting to Yahoo Business mail incoming server. I have checked the address, the host name (pop.bizmail.yahoo.com), the user name, and the password and they are all correct. I have tried using server port 995 and 110 and neither one worked. The exact message that I received after trying to check my mail is: Cannot Get Mail- The connection to the server "pop.bizmail.yahoo.com" failed. I have been able to connect just fine in the past and nothing has changed since the last time I was able to check my mail. I am also still able to check that same e-mail account from my computer.
If anyone has any ideas on what the problem may be please help because this one has me puzzled.

I tried it, but it didn't do anything. It just stayed in the mail after the sliding screen went away. I have noticed something else to add to the problem; the mail app on my computer isn't getting the e-mails either and again it is the same issue as the iPhone so I am convinced that it is something with Yahoo, but I can't figure out what.
I should probably go into a little more detail, what I have is a regular yahoo account with e-mail. To go with this e-mail I have a business e-mail for my website I am hosting through Yahoo. I need to receive the e-mails from that business e-mail address. I am able to log-on to yahoo.com, sign in and get the e-mails from both of the accounts, it would just be a very nice convenience to go to my mail to check it and be able to use my iPhone when I don't have access to my computer.
I'm hoping somebody out there has an idea of how to fix this because I'm sure that I'm not the first one to go through this.

  • IPhone 5s connection issues with iTunes, mail, internet

    Hi,
Recently (yesterday), my phone stopped receiving new email on my multiple accounts (gmail, yahoo, etc.) I would open the mail app on my phone and get multiple pop up windows saying, "Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed." I had similar trouble when I  then tried using other apps that use the internet, Safari, facebook. Keep in mind that both my mac book pro and device are connected to my wi-fi network. My mac book pro can access the internet and receive mail. I thought maybe connecting my device to iTunes would help, however my device can not be recognized by iTunes.   Upon connecting my device via USB iTunes would immediately say "Itunes cannot connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to this device." I then turned on my iPhone only to see a window saying "Trust This Computer?  Your settings and data will be accessible from this computer when connected"  I selected Trust multiple times but this keeps poping up.
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

    Hello, ddogjackson.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you may be experiencing a self-assigned IP address.  Try power cycling your router and testing the results.  If the issue persists, I would recommend going through all of the steps in the article below.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

  • My MacBook pro has stopped connecting to the outgoing mail server smpt (Tiscali) server, still receives mail fine, and connects to the web. Any suggestions welcome.

My MacbookPro has always worked fine, receiving and sending emails through my server,Tiscali.  I took it to France for a few days, and was able to receive emails and use the web (through the wireless router and server in our accomodation), although as usual when away from home, I couldn't send emails. I tried to set up a new outgoing email route using O2 (as suggested by a web article), but it didn't work, so I deleted it, and used Tiscali webmail to send emails.
When I returned home, I selected my usual outgoing server (Tiscali), but found to my great surprise, that I could no longer send emails - Mail timed out, 'unable to connect'. I noticed when clicking on: Mail - Preferences, that in the outgoing mail smpt box, Tiscali appeared, as usual, but now was followed by (Offline)
Receiving emails and web connections have remained fine.
I've checked with Tiscali, and they can't find any problem with their server or my settings.  Grateful for any suggestions about possible causes for this problem, and how to fix it.
    Joe

I have just tried attaching the ethernet cable to the MacBook to see what happens. The system is fine, but when starting Mail, it never opens and locks up. You eventually just have to force quit out of the program.

Post subject: NSURLErrorDomain error -1100 in OS X 10.8
If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile
