Connecting to nintendo wfc for wii with WRT160N

I am using Mcafee firewall and allowed all outbound connections but not inbound my router is WRT160N. Im having very slow connections for the wifi.I believe its my firewall or router, whether its the port forwarding or firewall problems. One question i may ask is when i port forward im using Applications and gamings tab > single port forwarding, however what should I put into Application name if it matters? Another question is I dont know my correct ip address. Which of these 2 is the correct one ms-dos with ipconfig/all or is it the status tab of the router connections site(192.168.2.1)

so according to this http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm\ the last section....if i enter 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.50 as my default gateway and ip address the generated info should be my correct static ip address?Also 192.168.2.50 would be my dynamic ip?...Clarification please thanks Rakasan

ofcourse you can try changing the wireless channel on the router itself.
for that , first open the internet explorer or any browser .
open the page - 192.168.1.1 > it will prompt u for a username and password.
enter , admin as username and pw.
on the router's web page , click on wireless tab .
you will see an option for channel there.
change it to - 1,6,9 or 11 !! any one of it .
and try observing th connection !

Unable to keep my external hard drive connected to my computer for backup with Time Machine.

I am using an external LaCie hard drive to backup my computer. In the last month or so I have noticed that when my computer is in the sleep mode for sometime the hard drive disconnects from my computer. I than get an error message that tells me that I have failed to disconnect the hard drive device before turning it off. Do I have a problem and if so is there a fix for the problem.

I have a similar question. I have backed up my external hard drive through my computer, onto my TC. When I go into TM, it doesn't show the external hard drive unless it is connected to the computer. Can I access the info from the external hard drive that is on the TC if I don't have the hard drive plugged in? If so, how can I do that?

I have a problem connecting my Nintendo Wii via wireless with a cisco 871w.
I tested with different encryption (WEP, WPA2 and open) to no avail.
The console gives me errors when testing the connection (number 51 330).
Any other device I connected to the wireless network works flawlessly (Notebook, iphone, nokia phones)

Connecting to Nintendo Wii and DS?

I was planning on purchasing a Nintendo WiFi USB connector for use with my iMac before learning that it is only compatible with Windows XP (and not Windows Vista, either.) Apparently my other option is to buy a wireless router, but this would be solely for gaming because I don't have another computer to network with in the house. My question is: Is there a special type of router I need for this situation, and what is the cheapest (but still functioning) possible one I can buy? Any ideas? Thanks!

Yeah, you can internet share your Mac and Wii/DS. You will need to have the airport express card in your Mac. It should have one if its new, if your not sure check your system profiler. Go under airport, you should have airport card there.
You will also need an ethernet cord. This is rather lengthy and copied from another post, so yeah.
First you need to go to the system prefrences panel. Click the sharing folder icon.
Under sharing, go to the internet tab. Go to the drop down menu and click "built-in ethernet".
Below that there are check boxes, click "airport". Then click ariport options.
Put in a name, a short one is ideal, and then a password if you want. (only numbers) Click ok.
Now go to the firewall tab. If your brave enough, you can just turn off the firewall. Or...
Click "new". The port name is "other", make the description something short like, "my wii".
THIS IS IMPORTANT.
Under the "TCP Port Number(s)" field type (with the commas): 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, 443
Leave the UDP blank. Click ok.
Make sure that box is checked, go back to internet and click "start".
Your airport icon on top of the screen should be showing an upward arrow.
NOW...for the Wii setup. Fun isn't it?
Go to your wii setup, then internet tab. Click an empty network or erase one. Now click manual.
Enter the name of your network, what you labled earlier. If you forgot, click the airport icon, it should show you what signal is being sent out.
Now click the arrow and enter your WEP key. The 10 digit numerical password you made. (unless you didn't)
Click the arrow again and where it says auto-obtain IP settings, click no. Enter these; (there will be a lot more zero's auto added when you click ok. leave them)
IP: 10.0.2.11
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Router: 10.0.2.1
Manual DNS settings:
Go to the next screen and again NO auto-obtain DNS.
Primary DNS: 10.0.2.1
Seconday: 10.0.2.11
Leave all the other windows, click save. It should connect.
To stop you Mac from sending the signal, click the airport icon, then internet sharing. You can now click "stop". You airport will go back to normal use. To re-connect to the wii, just go back to the internet sharing and click start. It'll keep all the previous settings.

I can't do that because the device was purchased from United Arab Emirates and I got it as a gift in Syria but the problem is that there is not even a single apple store in Syria so is there another way to fix that, I googled it and was told to jailbreak the device whitch I did and than hacktivated it but the problem is the device doesn't connect to any network and only shows "no service" and the battery draining too fast so is there any other way to fix this issue

Not sure what I need to do. The 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can be configured as a wireless Ethernet bridge. In this configuration, it would join an existing wireless network and its Ethernet port would be enabled for a wired client, like your Xbox 360. AT this point whatever data you have on yoru phone is already gone since it is in recovery mode.
However you can restore from your backup, when your phone reboots from recovery.
YOu do have a backup right?

Here are some suggestions:
1) Check the manual the Keithley manual to see how to configure the RS-232.
    On some models you need set Factory defaults to USER and turn on the RS-232.
    Also there may be a setting for SCPI which you want on (probably on by default).
2) On your PC - open Device Manager. See if a COM port exists and is functional.
     You must get this working before continuing.
      You can set the COM port parameters by right clicking and selecting Properties.
     (On some PCs the onboard ports can be disabled in the BIOS)
3) If step two was OK, open MAX (Measurement and Automation eXplorer).
    On the left side, click on Devices and Hardware.
    Click on Serial and Parallel.
    Go to the COM port you found in Device Manager.
    Open a VISA Test Panel.
    Now I don't have one I can look at right now, so this is general idea:
   Configure the COM port to match the Keithley settings (should be OK if step 2 worked)
   Go to the (I think) Input Output tab (you want to send a command)
   The command string input should already have a *IDN? entered, if not, type it in.
   Click on the Query button to send the command and check the response.
   If you get an ID string back (Company name, Model, FW Version ...) then it works.
   (Disregard an error saying it did not get enough charcters back.)

I think it's trying to open it in a gMail eMail & is losing your gMail password that it needs log into gMail, but not 100% positive.
Have you tried Right clicking or Control+click on the eMail link & choose Copy? Works on some, not others.

IPod Touch 4G Won't Connect to Internet but No Problem with Nintendo DSi...

My sons new iPod Touch 4G 32GB won't recognize any networks. We have manually entered the name of our network and entered the password but to no avail.
I was able to get my daughter's new Nintendo DSi online within minutes but the iPod just won't work.
We have updated the firmware on our router, rebooted our router, reset the iPod, read the iPod manual, we've tried EVERYTHING.
Any suggestions?

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on yur router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Well then maybe I misunderstood what you meant even though now that you explained it again, I should have though about that.
When you leave the house in the morning with your device, you lose the connection to the library because you are no longer on the same WiFi network as you are at home. You have to be on the same network in order to use Home Sharing. Once you get home again, you have to select the Shared Library again.
I apologize for the confusion or misunderstanding.
