Connecting to Printer via Bluetooth, documents print gibberish

Howdy,
I have a Canon Pixma iP100 and have recently installed the bluetooth accessory so that I could print wirelessly from my computer and iPhone via bluetooth. However, it won't work! I have sent documents to the printer from my computer and the documents come out in gibberish. Varying about 10 - 20 lines per page, it's become a real waste of paper and is getting to be really frustrating. Once it starts to print a document, it continuously spits out these pages of gibberish until the paper runs out as if there is no 'last page.' It does however print photos.
I also am unable to connect my iPhone to the printer. It will not recognize that the printer is available to connect so therefore won't print anything (documents or photos). Any ideas?
I've followed the Bluetooth Guide that came with the Canon Setup Utility and have set up the bluetooth preferences within it.
I have a Macbook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) and an iPhone 3Gs (4.2.1)
Thank you for your help!

Hi again:
Since the printer works when cable connected, it appears that he BT connection is the problem (not exactly a startling revelation! ).
You probably have already done so, but my next step would be to contact Canon (tech support) to see if there is a software update and/or a workaround. I am jumping to conclusions, but I suspect the Canon software is not playing well with your Mac.
Barry
P.S. There is no OS X setting that I am aware of that would cause what you describe. However, you could trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart. It would also not hurt to reset the SMC.

    Hi Tomiwa,
You cannot print from the iPad to that printer. AirPrint and Bluetooth are completely different.
There may be apps you can buy that will enable using that printer, but that is not an ideal solution.
That particular printer has had many bad reviews, and is unreasonably expensive for its features. Considering that you just bought the printer, as well as its lack of AirPrint, I suggest you return it and buy a printer that supports AirPrint.

  • Won't connect to ipad via Bluetooth

why won't my iPhone connect to my iPad via Bluetoot?

Well, I should have asked Pagancelt not sleeky as he said above he says he DID it.

I was successful in connecting my iPad and 27" iMac via bluetooth for the purpose of internet sharing, so it can be done. I was able to use my iMac's free wifi connection (which the iPad couldn't pick up, as I don't want to stand by the window) to get internet on the iPad. I forget how, unfortunately, which is why I'm back in the forums - my connection went down!
*Edit: Foolish me. My iMac shows up under "Devices" on the iPad Bluetooth pane in General Settings. All I had to do was tap it to revive the connection (since I paired the devices the first time I set up the connection). iPad is now getting internet off iMac again :-)

  • Why is it when i try connecting my iphone via bluetooth it says my computer is not supported?

Why is it when i try connecting my iphone via bluetooth it says my computer is not supported?

Because File Transfer, buy Bluetooth, has never been supported on any iPhone. Your computer and iPhone will only pair, by Bluetooth, if you're trying to Tether. If you're not trying to Tether, you can quit tring, as your phone won't pair.

You cannot link to another smartphone via Bluetooth from your iPad except perhaps to use the Xperia's personal hotspot (WiFi is supported, but I'm not sure about Bluetooth). If you wish to transfer files or data, that's not possible.

  • Connecting 2 iphones via bluetooth

Bluetooth on the iPhone is for headset pairing only.
The protocols for file transfer/etc are not present.

Unfortunately, you can't.  The iphone does not have the protocol for Bluetooth file sharing and so forth, between one iphone and another.

  • When I connect my headphones via bluetooth to my iPad 4 I lose my internet connection?

I recently upgraded to iOS 7.1 and along with the problem mentioned in the title there are many other, not so major problems but I can put up with them.
So basically before I updated I could do this fine with no problems but ever since it updated my Turtle Beach PX5 has been able to connect to my iPad via Bluetooth but as soon as the connection is established I lose internet connection which is extremely frustrating as I tend to FaceTime while I'm playing on a console.
If I go into the wifi settings no possible access points are shown unless I turn off my bluetooth. Although on one occasion I have been able to connect to both services but the bluetooth was very unstable and after 20 or so seconds it seemed to have disconnected itself.
It's extremely frustrating that I pay money for a quality product (might I add that I've very much enjoyed up to this point) expecting that both these services can run simultaneously when they cannot.
So I wondered if there is a solution to this? Has anyone else had similar problems? And is there any way I can downgrade as the newest update (for me at least) has been a major disappointment.

One thing you should definitely try is keeping your iPhone 4 connected via USB cable in your computer and restarting.  This should make the computer recognize that it is connected and as long as you have your iTunes set up to automatically open upon connection with your iPhone you should be all set!

  • Need help connecting to Internet via bluetooth'd cell phone

I have my iBook connected to my cell phone (i-mate K-jam) via bluetooth and I'm trying to figure out how to connect to t-mobile gsm so I can get to the internet. I can access the net with my K-jam by itself, I just can't figure out how to do it with my iBook. Has anyone done this and do you have a step-by-step???
    Thanks,
    Tom

Fixed it! I followed this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6184897#post6184897 The key was to put a fake user name and password. Even though Tmobile doesn't require it, I had to put something in. d for user and u for password works...anything will work.

  • Lumia 820 cannot connect to PC via Bluetooth

Hi there. I have recently bought a new Lumia 820, which is a great phone, except that I cannot connect the Lumia to my PC (win 7) via Bluetooth. I have been using phones with bluetooth for a long time, so this is not my first time. I can see my pc in the list, but when i click "connect", the phone is connected to the pc for like one second and then the connection breaks up. Transfering a single file by clicking "send" and then "bluetooth" is no problem, but the connecting directly between the pc and the phone via bluetooth instead of usb cable is no success. Can anybody help me out here please? Thank you!
    Solved!

A continuous data connection is not supported. In all fairness it's kind of like trying to fill a tank using a thimble.

  • Can't connect to PC via Bluetooth

Please help! I have tried to two weeks on two different computers to connect my Palm Zire 72 via Bluetooth.
On one computer, I'm trying to use the Palm as a remote control using software, but I have to get the Palm and the computer to connect first, and I can't make it happen.
On the second computer, I'm trying to connect for HotSync. I've gone through the tutorial, and I just can't get it to work.
I'm using a Bluetooth USB dongle, with BlueSoleil software.
I am able to pair the two devices in both cases, but they don't connect with each other. I get the following error messages on the Palm:
    Either:
    Error: authentication failure (0x1233)
    or during HotSync:
The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again.

  • Can't connect to 6230i via bluetooth dongle

    Hi,
I'm using vista home premium, 32 bit and have installed BlueSoleil bluetooth software version 1.6.1.4 with dongle and have PC Suite version 6.
On the bluetooth software I can see that it recognises the phone and in paired devices on the phone I can see the PC but it does not give me the option to connect.
When I try to connect via PC suite I get the message "There is no available connection type and therefore the connection to the phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit."
I'm not really up to date with this stuff so is there anything I should try to get this to work? Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Yes - it's version 6.84. When I tried to connect PC suite I got the message "Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available" It's strange because the bluetooth software can see the phone and I can push a business card from the PC to the phone and I can send a picture via bluetooth from the phone and the computer received it.
Not sure what to try...Seems like PC suite has a lot of issues from looking at this website....

  • Is it possible to connect my Ipad2 via bluetooth to my iMac

I'd like to sync my new iPad2 via bluetooth to my Quadcore i7 iMac, instead off using the thin white USB-cable that comes with the iPad2. Syncing works fine over the cable, but it would be easy the use a wireless connection to sync iPad2 via iTunes on the iMac. Any suggestions? I've heard a rumor that iOS5 would support such wireless link...

Transferring such data via bluetooth - music, videos, and 3rd party apps would not be nice. Via w-fi would be nice which will be supported with iOS 5.
    http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html
Wirelessly sync your iOS device to your Mac or PC over a shared Wi-Fi connection. Every time you connect your iOS device to a power source (say, overnight for charging), it automatically syncs and backs up any new content to iTunes. So you always have your movies, TV shows, home videos, and photo albums everywhere you want them.

  • Connect to Internet via Bluetooth with 6121 Classi...

I have a new Nokia 6121 Classic and a Thinkpad T60 with the latest Bluetooth drivers and Windows XP SP2.
I've installed the Nokia software and it asked to get the updated software from the Internet and installed 6.86.9.0
It connected fine via Bluetooth (WIDCOM) and I'm able to Sync my contacts/transfer files without any problems. I then throught I'd connect it to the Internet. I tried the cable connection and it connected fine via 3G to my carrier Optus.
However, if I don't use the USB cable and try via Bluetooth (what I want) it starts to connect and says 'Looking for bluetooth devices'...which is really strange since it's already connected !! Windows XP beeps quickly as if something has been plugged into a USB port, but nothing has. After about 20-30 secs, Windows XP beeps (as if something has been unplugged, but nothing has. The Nokia Connection Manager then says "No modem found!"
It's so strange...it can see the Nokia phone fine via Bluetooth. I then tried to connect via "My Bluetooth Places" and XP also connected fine to the phone. It then installed another dialup connection via Bluetooth. But if I click on that icon, it connects to the phone but then asks for a userid/password which I have no idea what to enter. So I think I need to use the Nokia PC suite, but it won't connect to the Internet via the phone, unless I use the USB cable.
It's a strange one... I've searched the forums but can't see any clues for my particular case.

For anyone who's interested I solved this by:
    - Edit the Phone number for the bluetooth Modem and entering *99#
    - For the modem, setting it's Maximum speed to the highest. In my case it was 921600.
    - Go into Control Panel - Phone and Modem Options - Modems - Select Bluetooth Modem - Properties - Advanced tab and enter at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”internet”
Dial the connection by going into My Bluetooth Places and double clicking on the icon. When prompted enter a blank userid and password. It should then connect to the Internet via your mobile !
