Connecting to servers

I have AppleCare on my iMac but not my PowerBook. The AppleCare person said the problem is with the PowerBook.
The Problem: The PowerBook will connect to the iMac and the PowerMac (and also to the External Hard Drive which is hardwired to the iMac.) The iMac and PowerMac will connect to each other but not to the PowerBook.
Why am I concerned? I am doing some work with iPhoto on the iMac and there are iPhoto Libraries scattered over the PowerBook, iMac and External Hard Drive. I want to bring them all together on the iMac.
The setup:The internet cable comes in to the modem which goes into the Airport Base Station. The Airport Base Station is connected to a router which has leads to a printer and the PowerMac. The iMac and PowerBook are equipped with Airport cards.
I could not recognize this problem in the other posts. Can someone help?

  • Connecting JMS servers together into a cluster

              Hi
              I am just wondering if anyone tried (or is it even possible) to connect JMS servers
              from different providers (say BEA and Sonic) together in a cluster of some sorts?
              Thanks

    Integrating foreign vendors with WL has come up many times in this newsgroup.
              Search for "MQ" (MQSeries) and "Sonic".

  • How to connect different servers with different Hyperion product

    Hi Guru,
    I am very new in the field of Hyperion installation and configuration... We need install 3 Hyperion product i.e. HFM, FDM and EssBase version 11.1.2.2 in their individual servers/machine. Now I do not have any idea how do I connect these servers so that they could talk to each other.
    I need some expert advice on the above if need any other info do let me know.
    Regards

    I am not an infrastructure expert, but if you are new to Hyperion, I would definitely look for some external help (Consultants). Hyperion Installation and Configurations are extremely complicated.
    This is a good starting point: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_1.htm

  • Can't connect to servers in enemy-territory

    Hi, i installed et and i can't connect to servers, when i search for servers i see only 20 servers and if i try to connect
    it just stucks at "Awaiting gamestat"

    One big clue is that Safari uses DNS & Proxy settings from the Network CP/System settings, while Firefox uses it's own settings.
    Might try making a new Admin User to try as a test.
    Searching for which file(s) hold those at the moment, though right now I'd try dragging these files to the Desktop & reboot, resetup Networking...
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    And, since it's a secure connection, might look for some of these files...
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.networkConnect.<ethernet MAC address>.plist
    Looks like the Proxies are stored in...
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    But that doesn't ensure that it's the only place on your machine.

  • Select Volume when connecting to servers

    I have a workflow I've been running as a start up item to update an excel file on my HD to a server everyday. It works pretty well, I just have one gripe. I have to manually select the server volume when the workflow runs. I also have to click an okay button for the "Save Excel Workbook" step to overwrite the the existing file (this is a 3-rd action, and does not have an overwrite file check box). Like I said, it works pretty well, but I would prefer not to have to do anything when it runs.
    Here are the steps of the workflow.
    1. Get Specified Servers
    2. Connect to Servers
    3. Get Specified Finder Items (excel document)
    4. Open Finder Items
    5. Save Excel Workbook (I have it open and save the file first to update pivot tables)
    6. Get Specified Finder Items
    7. Copy Finder Items (to server)

    Save the workflow as an application then add it to your login items, which can be found under accounts in system preferences.

  • Cc install stop at connecting to servers

    So recently I built myself a computer and decided to give photoshop a try. I went to the trial download link and clicked on "download trial", which it downloaded the creative cloud setup application for me. Upon running it, it would be stuck at "trying to connect to servers", and unable to move on. Is there any fix to this? Or is this a temporary server problem/maintenance from adobe?

  • Went 10.3.9 to 10.4.8 & now MacOS won't connect to Servers using afp! HELP!

    I did an upgrade installation of Mac OS 10.4.3 ontop of Mac OS 10.3.9 on a G4 AlBook. I then did the downloadable combo updater to take it 10.4.8.
    However now when I try to connect to any servers using Go - > Connect to Server I get no response.
    When I try to navigate to the Servers using the Finder and click connect I am told that the alias is broken.
    I thought his might have had to do with an installation of Netware for Mac OSX so I used the Netware install file to step through and remove all Netware files & I stil can't connect to Servers.
    Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    I have yet to run any of the software updates on top of 10.4.8 perhaps one of these improves 10.4.8 afp compatibility?
    Thanks in advance,
    Neil.

    James,
    thanks very much for this. I'd hoped not to have to go to 10.4.9 but it sounds as though your solution may well work with 10.4.8 as well? I.e. it sounds as though a component of the old system left behind by the incremental upgrade has broken the servers.
    I should have also mentioned that it is Netware boxes that I am trying to access. so it appears as though all manner of server is broken in this situation.
    This is so inconvenient (esp with regard to software authorised to hardrives, how does that behave with an archival install?).
    But once again many thanks for your help,
    Neil.

  • Connect To Servers Action Not Working?

    Hello
    I've just started with Automator today. I've successfully made a couple of actions and other threads helped me with my initial difficulties.
    I decided that I wanted to make an action to connect all my shares and put it into my startup folder.
    I used the action Get Specified Servers and put the URL of an smb share that I know works into it. I then connected that to Connect To Servers. I get all green ticks when I run my action but the server doesn't appear in the Finder sidebar or on my desktop.
    What am I doing wrong?
    I've seen another thread talking about this where appletalk was proposed as a workaround but I don't want to get into Applescript just yet if I can avoid it.

  • Applications running under Managed Account not able to connect to servers

    My kids use a Managed Account on my MacBook (running Lion).  They have two games (Roblox and Minecraft) which can not connect to their particular game servers.  These games work fine when running under the Administrator account.  I believe that the ports that these games are trying to connect to may be blocked when running under a Managed Account.  The firewall is disabled.  Is there a way to open up specific network ports to programs running under Managed Accounts?

    Still don't have an anwer for you, but just a few thoughts... So it would seem that creating a Managed account automatically invokes some user account firewall settings, since the game works under your admin account. I was  able to access the System Prefs under a managed account to see about opening up the port in question, but if this is indeed the problem, the firewall isn't the GUI kind.
    It's possible that there would be a terminal command to do so, but I wouldn't have a clue about how to do that.

  • Users can no longer connect to servers via their IP addresses.

    1) Up until March users could connect to two file servers (10.4 and 10.6) by IP address.
    2) Now, only computers that are not managed by Casper can connect.  All the Windows machines and a couple of Macs (not managed) can connect to these Servers.  One of the Macs is filtered by iBoss, but mine bypasses the filter.  We can both connect.
    3) On the day this happened, I updated the iBoss firmware and sent out the script below which should not be related.  The commonality seems to have something to do with computers managed by Casper (JAMF).
    4) Any suggestions?  Thanks for your help.
    sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -configure -allowAccessFor -specifiedUsers
    sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -configure -users ladmin -access -on -privs -all

    Check your firewall logs find out if it's at your end that's blocking access
    Log into one of the blocked machines with your login that's not blocked to find out if it's a user level or machine block
    Read the iboss firmware release notes
    See if there is any changes that effect your current setup
    Check firewall rules make sure the effected machines, vlans etc have access to the servers
    See if Casper still access the effected machines

  • Issue connecting multiple servers in parallel using wlst

    Hi,
       I have requirement to write a jython script to connect multiple weblogic servers and generate some reports.
       I am importing wlstModule(import wlstModule as wl) in the scirpts.
       I would need multiple users to be able to run the script from a webpage in parallel.The website is based on java.
       1. My initial thoughts were to create a new thread for each user request. But since the global variable cmo is shared between the jython threads,i believe it wouldn't work.
       2. My second option is to create a new process for each user.This way each process would have its own independent global namespace.
          Even though this should work,it dosen't look the cleanest way to do.
       Does someone have any better idea?

    You can use the Distribution Monitor for that purpose. Check note  855772 - Distribution Monitor

  • Can I set up SQL Trace or Audit to connect to servers

    I have a server (2003) with SQL (2005) on it.
    If i install MS SQL Management Studio 2012 on my PC, can I audit what SQL on that server is doing by connecting to it from the PC ?
    Or would it be better to set up SQL Trace on the server itself ?
    Thanks
    Pete

    So if I install SSMS 2012 on my PC, I can connect to the databases on different servers from 1 place.
    Yes, as long as there is network connection.  In SSMS open up the Registered Servers window and register all servers:

  • How connect rfc servers in a HA environment?

    Hello folks
    We are setting up a HA installation consisting of a clustered DB/ASCS package and a bunch of non-HA dialog instances.
    Now my question is, how do you connect 3rd party applications like for example business connectors, kofax topcall (a fax solution), archiving solutions from imtf or external job schedulers like $universe to that system.
    They either connect to a gateway as registered server program or they act as rfc client connecting to the SAP system with user and password. Now i was explaining the concept of message server logon groups to everybody. The result in most cases is a confused smile.
    I am afraid we end up configuring those tools to one single application server, which renders it  a single point of failure.
    Does anybody have a similar environment? Remember we have only a central services instanz without gateway and workprocesses. How did you solve this problem then?
    Cheers Michael

    Taken from the sample saprfc.ini from the original SAP rfc sdk.
    Here is the saprfc.ini for client (we addidionally use a saprouter here):
    /*===================================================================*/
    /*  Type B:  R/3 system - load balancing feature                     */
    /*===================================================================*/
    DEST=MY_DEST
    TYPE=B
    R3NAME=SID
    MSHOST=/H/saprouter/S/3299/H/mshost
    GROUP=SPACE
    RFC_TRACE=0
    ABAP_DEBUG=0
    USE_SAPGUI=0
    We decided to add a standalone gateway on the SCS server for registered server programs. Here is the saprfc.ini for rfc servers (registering at a gateway):
    /*===================================================================*/
    /*  Type R:  Register a RFC server program at a SAP gateway          */
    /*           or connect to an already registered RFC server program  */
    /*===================================================================*/
    DEST=MY_DEST
    TYPE=R
    PROGID=MY_PROGRAM_ID
    GWHOST=gwhost
    GWSERV=sapgw0x
    RFC_TRACE=0

  • Unknown SSL connection from servers

    We have four Windows 2008 R2 servers hosting Exchange 2010 CAS/HUB Transport roles combined on each, we are having an issue where these hosts are trying to connect to a front-end pool IP address in the DMZ every few seconds using HTTPS.  I would like
    to know if there is a way to trace which application could be generating this SSL traffic from within those hosts, as it is Exchange doesn't seem to be the culprit but not 100% sure.  We run some websites behind this IP address in the DMZ, but
    nothing related to Exchange; therefore perhaps something on the system side, but haven't been able to locate any entries on the logs that could point us to an application.  Any suggestions are appreciated.
    FLaidman

    Hi,
    I think NetMon helps with this situation.
    You can also run “netstat –on” on one of these hosts, notice the connection with foreign port 443. Check task manager
    if there is a process with the same PID. Since the connection status is unknown, if this connection cannot be see in netstat, you will have to capture packets.
    Hope this helps.
