Connecting to store -- I CAN and CAN'T

Question

This is a new problem of only a few weeks. iTunes has worked well for years previously.
I can do a search for a specific band and can connect to the store with no problem. When I try to access the home page, however, I get a message that says "temporarily unavailable." It's been like this for weeks. It can't be unavailable that long -- and besides, I CAN connect if I do a search.
The problem is really that the last time I used iTunes I was previewing music from another country (which often has different selections than my own.) Now that I'd like to return to my own country's home page and move on to make some purchases I can't, because I'm stuck in another country's store which, I would change if I could access the home page.
Any idea how this is possible? -- Connection to the store through the search function but no access to the home page?
** I'm running iTunes 7.7.1 with OS 10.3.9 (I can't update iTunes to a higher version.) I have tried trashing the prefs and also re-installing to no avail.

I'm afraid that you almost certainly will need to upgrade to a newer version of iTunes. iTunes 7.7. will no longer work correctly with the iTunes Store; there have been too many changes to the Store since iTunes 7.7 was current. And that of course will require that you upgrade your computer to at least Mac OS X 10.4.11, which is required for any newer version of iTunes.
Someone else here may have an idea that would get you back to the correct country's home page, but even if you can, iTunes 7.7 just isn't going to work correctly with the current iTunes Store.
