Connecting to TV scart

Hi
I'd like to connect my MBP to a CRT TV via scart, so I can use it as a DVD player. Please tell me what I need to accomplish this...
Thanks.

You could use a DVI > S-video adapter or DVI > AV component, then feed the S-video/component video into a SCART adapter, but I don't think a DVI > SCART cable exists.

  • How do I connect DVI to Scart (or S-serial) on my Sony WEGA?

Does anyone know how I can connect my MacBook Pro (with a DVI socket) to my Sony WEGA TV. The TV has both Scart and S-serial video (plus the red and white audio sockets).
    Many thanks,
    Richard

If it's an older Mac with DVI Output then you need something like:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTAyNjUwNA
If it's a newer Mac with the mini port you're going to need two adapters such as:
    mini displayport to VGA http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?mco=NDY5OTAzNQ
    then VGA to S-Video http://www.amazon.com/TV-Out-VGA-S-Video-RCA-Adapter/dp/B000S675JU

  • Satellite L300-29X - How to connect to television?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-29X with a mini-VGA output and would like to connect it to my television, preferably through the DVI-I dual analogue/digital input, but cannot find a cable that will do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in the UK and as such, only have access to UK based retailers and do not want to pay the exorbitant costs of importing from overseas.
If all else fails, I could connect through the SCART input on my TV, but again, could anyone point me in the right direction of a cable that could do this?
Cheers in advance for any help.
    C
I've also just noticed my TV has a 9-pin RS232 input as well if that is any help?

OK, I think I know what I need now, obviously I've been getting myself confused somewhere.
I must have read something somewhere about mini-VGA ports and got my wires crossed, so to speak. I tried a VGA cable from an old monitor and it fits nicely, it's just that my laptop doesn't have the bits for the screws to go into, so I presume that is the only difference that makes it "mini".
Anyway, thanks for all the help guys and hopefully once I can locate the correct cable and adapter, I'll be able to watch my new star trek film boxset on a decent size screen! Good Times! :-D

  • How to connect Satellite M115 to the TV?

    Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite M115 s3094 and Im trying to connect it to my TV. The TV I have has only composite and SCART ports (its an old TV). I managed to connect it through s-video connector but I have no sound on the TV and its also in black and white.
How do I get color and sound? Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello
To be clear: With S-Video cable you can transfer to the TV video signal only. For sound you need other cable. When you use S-Video cable you must enable S-Video port on the TV. When you do this the problem with color will be solved.
For audio you need audio adapter and audio cable. Both you can connect to the TV directly (if the ports are available red and white). If not you can connect it to SCART adaptor together with S-Video cable.
Check please this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=69026&#69026 . There you can find links and see how all this stuff looks like.

  • Qosmio G20 - Connecting to a VCR

    Hi,
I have a G20 and I want to connect it to my VCR.
I though all I had to was to connect the computer and the VCR using the Scart to D-connector cable and I would be able to use the computer as a TV. I did just that but I can't get any image. Do I need to install any other software to capture the image?
Could you guys give some help on this matter? Thanks!
    Esm

1.Install the win dvd creator from the supplied toshiba cd rom.
2.You must connect your VCR Scart to composite connection or SCART/composite converter or SCART composite/Svideo converter. This should connect to the VCR OUT on your VCR
3.Connect the above leads to the composite IN on your Qosmoio or Svideo IN(If you use S video ,the video signal is BETTER and leave the TWO audio (white and red) leads into the qosmio.
S video alone will only give you VIDEO signal,For audio use the RED and WHITE for you sudio or if you want audio dubbing disconnect one and dub any soundiput through white or red leads from any music output source if your prefer
3.Open the windvd creator, select new project
4.Select CAPTURE and you will see your VCR playback on the little screen and select full screen and you will see your toshiba qosmio as a TV display playback for your CVR or camcorder.
5.If you wish you could select the toshiba PCI mpegcoder and select appropriate input i.e composite,Svideo or IEE.
Also select the format PAL-NTSC-SECAM....... as on the pull down menu
    Enjoy

  • Can I connect my Mac to my TV via RCA cables?

I'm trying to connect my new Mac Mini to a TV that doesn't have HDMI nor DVI. It only has RCA connections and a Scart. I bought a converter to VGA from the Mac and another converter to RCA, but I only got a black screen on TV. Does anyone know how can I see my wonderful Lion on my TV? I read that it may be because of the resolution. How should be that resolution?
    Thank you very much

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.
And also what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)

  • Satellite P30: Cannot get picture on TV

I have a Sat P30 and would like to view on TV rather than lcd screen for dvd viewing etc. I have connected via 4pin s-video - 4pin s-video into scart socket (as tv doesn't have s video connection) and connected sound into scart as well (scart has svideo/video/audio l/r)
Using the fn-f5 im getting no picture or sound.
Im presuming as im connected to the tv via scart i don't need to set the tv to s/video either seeing as the tv doesnt have one. Going into display properties on the control panel the tv isnt even showing as connected so im a bit lost on this one.
    thanks

    Hi
In my opinion the wrong cable connection is responsible for this.
Usually after the connection to TV you should be able to choose the TV in the graphic card properties -> advanced -> displays
There you should see the either Not connected or connected
If the not connected appears the TV was not properly connected to the notebook.
Ps: Did you check if the scart port must be enabled on the TV?

  • Mac to tv cable

Hi I was in a pc shop today and saw a pc to tv cable (it also works with macs) do you think this cable would allow you to watch imovie on your TV (which you can then record to tape or dvd) if anyone has tried this or has any theories, will they let me know? Thanks, Steph x

    Hi b
What Mac are You using ?
I've a PoowerBook G4 and it has S-video out. This I connected to a SCART
plug/adaptor with S-video in. This to my VCR and this to a TV. After fiddeling
around a bit suddenly I got a color pictur of 2:ond screen of my PB on the TV.
So just for the fun of it I put a DVD into the Mac. Moved the movie widow over
to the part visibly on the TV and let it play.
    Sound comes from my Mac.
Then I keept on working with an Excel sheet during watching the movie.
    Fun
    Some Mac's has a S-video out.

  • Apple TV on non-HD television???

    Hi,
does Apple TV work on a TV that is not HD ?? can it be connect via a scart or AV port ??
or in the case of a non-HD TV is it just as good to connect the iPod to the TV?
    cheers

    NeddySeagoon wrote:
am I better of just buying a cable to connect my iPod to the TV?
Quite possibly, as using any converters will be expensive and offer poorer quality than AppleTV is capable of, though the iPod won't be as versatile.
You'd be making compromises at several levels to run AppleTV on a non-HD set, especially if it's a 4:3 set.
Yes, it can be done but you have to have the right converters which may not be cheap.
There was a 'hack' of sorts to get composite output - I can't remember the details but it sounded like a real chore and not something you'd want to do often, and certainly not if other non-techie users used the machine.
Is a TV upgrade prohibitive at present - there seem to be very good value sets out there these days if you go for a less mainstream brand (sorry, I can't recommend any but some UK sites I look at often have rave reviews for such items).

  • IMovie to VCR

I am trying to make a VHS copy of a project I have completed in iMovie. It is not working. I have hooked a firewire from my computer to the DV input of a Canopus, and then have put AV wires in the OUT area of the Canopus into the IN of the VCR. I try to record, and it is not recording on the VHS tape. What am I doing wrong? Help! My project is due this afternoon.
    lhmama1

    Hi ihmama
    You have a problem.
You are so near and NOT. You need to understand how Your VHS-VCR works
and how it can handle an input signal. This is not as easy as output.
My VCR has tree RCA-connectors + a S-video on the front - they only can
export out to a TV or camera etc.
On the back it has 2 SCART connectors but only the upper most one can
import. To use this I need a cable with RCA-connectors that match the
back of the Canopus and RCA connectors that can connect with a SCART-
converter THAT HAS TO HAVE AN - input / output switch. If not it only
    outputs.
You probably need to buy this. Hurry !

  • Two or more TV's

I have a TV in the lounge and one in the bedroom. Is it necessary to have 2 vision boxes or can I just use the one? If
I do need another box how can I get one?
    In anticipation,
    many thanks,
    Bralun

2 Vision boxes is not a good solution as only one per phone line is supported. You could try using a video transmitter which you connect to the SCART on the Vbox. There are various models on the market. No direct experience myself but I'm sure quite a few people on here will be able to give you the heads up on what to look out for with them.

  • Where is the interference coming from?

I wonder if anyone can help with this
I have a black vision connected with poweline adapters.
Since the new Vision screen has appeared, we've noticed interference appearing in the background. It's not that bad that we can't watch it. But if you notice it, then it really bothers you.
I've not nothing else plugged in. The Wii is only powered up when it gets used. The TV has an inbuilt DVD player so we don't have a seperate one of them either. Nothing else is plugged in where the TV is.
It's connected by a scart lead.
The interference is like anothe channel sliding accross the screen if that makes sense
Does anyone know what mnight be causing it?

It is indeed a scart issue and in the distant past when I still used them I had to buy special shielded cables to get rid of the same interference.

  • Apple TV 2nd Generation and older TV

I have a Progressive Display Panasonic Plasma TV with no HDMI input. Can you please let me know whether my Apple TV will work with a scart connection. I can buy an HDMI to component connection which will in turn connect to my scart connection.
HDMI to Component then Component to scart.

    tamer th wrote:
The panasonic has a scart input but for example my wii connects to the same tv with a component output and a scart converter to input in the tv if that makes sense!
    Yes.
It may work it may not. That's the issue.
Even if it does, it may be rendered inoperable by future updates and that would be a gamble.
You could buy one and return it if it failed to work I guess provided you're prepared to accept a risk. If you did buy, then you'd probably be better off doing it by mail-order as at leaqst you could definitely return under distance selling legislation (correct me if I'm wrong someone).

  • TV on iMac

My normal TV has just blown up and it's in the repair shop for a couple of weeks.
My TV feed is via a UK Sky Digibox which is connected via a SCART to the back of the TV.
Is there any device that I can buy that will allow me to connect this Sky digibox to my iMac so I can watch the TV on it?

Actually I think I can bypass the digibox because the majority of channels that I need can be picked up unencrypted and free to air. Is there a recommended device that I can plug the lead in from the satellite dish?
I don't think you will find any such device: your best bet is the sort of thing already mentioned, which will take the output from the Sky box. You will probably need a lead to convert from SCART to composite on a phono plug, plus the audio outputs.
You should make sure the Video Output in Service>System Setup>Picture Settings is set to PAL and not RGB.
