Connecting to VCR to record audio

I was wondering if it was possible to record audio from my VCR onto my Mac. I have a recording software already, but am wondering what kind of cord I will need in order to accomplish this. Many thanks in advance.

Hi
You will need a cable or adaptor which takes audio from dual RCAs (the red and white jacks on your VCR) and combines them into a single mini audio jack for the mic socket in your Macbook. In NYC, J&R on Park Row, B&H on 33rd/9th or any good instrument store (eg Guitar World) should have these. Radioshack might, but check their website first; anything which isn't cellphone-related is becoming harder to find in their stores.

  • Where did the "record audio from speakerphone" option go in Connect 8??

When I went to start a recording today in Connect 8, I noticed that the "record audio  from speakerphone" option is missing on the pop-up where you enter your  recording name and description.  Where did this option go?  This is how  we record all of our meetings where we do not have integrated audio  (usually due to using an operator assisted line.)  I did double-check my flash settings and made sure the meeting had access to the microphone.

Connect 8 records all audio from the Phone if that was used, or VOIP or via Universal Voice. It picks up all audio in the meeting.
If you have associated a universal voice audio profile with the meeting, choose Audio > Join Audio Conference.
    Choose Meeting > Record Meeting.
In the Record Meeting dialog box, enter a name and summary for the meeting recording.
A recording icon (red circle) appears in the menu bar to indicate that the meeting is being recorded.

  • I have voxer, and my phone keeps saying when I am trying to hold and speak, that voxer cannot record audio without a microphone, please connect a headset and try again.

I have downloaded voxer on my phone, it was working yesterday and today, I put my phone on my docking station and used voxer a few times while it was on there.  When I took it off and tried to send a new message my phone keeps saying when I am trying to record a new message, Voxer can't record audio with out a microphone, please connect a headset and try again?
does anyone know how to change it back so it will work again?
    thanks for your help

Try resetting your phone by pressing and holding the Home button and the power button unti the silver apple appears. If that doesn't work, contact the developer of the app.

  • Enhanced session connection to a VM-no audio recording

I have a set of VMs that I'd like to connect to with enhanced session and audio redirection, but for some reason audio recording has stopped working through the enhanced session connection.  The host is windows 8.1, and the guest is server 2012 R2,
and I have the correct policies enabled on both host and guest.  I can connect the enhanced session with the "record from this computer" selected for audio capture, but on the guest I only have playback, not capture.
What's really strange is that if I connect a second virtual NIC to this VM with a public IP address, I can RDP directly into this machine (through a regular RDP session, not the hyperV enhanced session), and recording redirection works just fine.  So
    far I've tried:
    rebooting host and guest
    disabling and re-enabling audio redirection
removing the "remote audio" device in the guest's device manager
I've also tried USB redirection using a USB audio device, and this works through enhanced session, but I'd also like to be able to get an audio connection using just the default audio device.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Chris,
According to your description , first please ensure that the recording device is redirected to hyper-v host .
If not , please check the hyper-v host setting .
I also read the following blog :
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2009/05/11/what-s-new-in-remote-audio-for-windows-7.aspx
"Please keep in mind that audio capture must be enabled in the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration on the server before it can be used."
Based on my understanding , you may also need to enable RDSH on hyper-v host then configure desktop experience feature to enable recording .

  • Can I record audio on an iPad direct from a mac via line out

I use the noteability app alot, recording audio at a live lecture works great.  However, due to a bug you can not add an audio file directly into your notes (at the moment), you must record them.
I have a bunch of podcasts that I would like to add to my notes.  I know I could play them from my mac and record audio through the ipads mic but what I hoped  to do was connect a male to male cable between the line out of my mac into my ipad, playing the audio without interferance.  This didn't work
Does anyone know if there is a similar way to do this or something I could have done wrong.
    Thanks

yeah - you can do it, but you need an adapter.  The earphone jack on a pad is a special jack with stereo headphone uot put and a seperate mic in channel.  The adapters i have seen are usually built to accomodate a standard 1/4 in - into the pad, like the one in the attached link.  In theory, you could use the lineout on the mac, to a 1/4 in male - then into this adapter to get it back into the pad.   Somebody probably makes the cable you need with the 1/4 shift, but I couldn't find one.
Options - in you notes, insted of copying the file, put a link to the podcast

  • Can No Longer Record Audio With iMic

I've been using the Camera Connection Kit with the iMic to record audio from my studio via 'Line In' for months with no issue. A few weeks ago, my iPad stopped recording using iMic. It only records with the internal mic now, so the sound is garbage. The software company says it isn't their software that's the problem. Did Apple have an update (prior to latest release) that rendered iMic useless?
Without the ability to record audio in this fashion, the iPad is a useless paperweight for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

Users have reported that some accessories that worked with the CCK before the update to iOS 4.2.1 now no longer work. This article, updated after the iOS update give a clue that the update changed what worked.

  • Recording audio from external keyboard

    Hello
I have a keyboard hooked up to my computer via USB connection.
I can record the keyboard to 'software instrument' track but can't to 'audio' track.
I have a microphone also USB connection, I can record to 'audio' track, no problem, so Im not sure what's missing
    Logic Pro 9
    Thanks in advance everyone
    TT

I finally understand what you are saying now...so I have to get the audio cable and not suing the current USB that I have...my thinking was if I can do with microphone via USB port, then the USB cord from the keyboard should act the same way, and as you said, by using that I can only get MIDI...OK bottom line I will have to get different cable, get one with line out from keyboard and into the Mac's buil-in audio input.
I'm reading the manual the 'Exploring Logic Pro' chapter 4 about Recording and Comping Audio, this will only work if it's an audio tract and not software instrument track...so that's why I want to be able to record as audio track, so I can have 'audio takes' and 'Take Folders'
    My keyboard is Korg SP-280
    thanks

  • Recording audio from a soundboard

Hello fellow iMac'ers, got a brand iMac with OSX Mavericks. I'm trying to set it up to record sound from a Peavey XR1212. I'm a PC guy, so I'm used to using Audacity to do the same procedure, so I downloaded it and tried to get it to work.  The soundboard has an "mp3 in" line as well as an RCA out jack.  The iMac does not have a mic in line, only a headphone port.  I called Apple Support and the representative informed me that the headphone port on the Mac is smart enough to determine whether I would be using it for headphones of a mic in line, so I should put the mic in line there.  So my set up was running an RCA jack (red and white connected to soundboard) with a headphone jack on the other end into the headphone port on the Mac.  When I began recording on the through Audacity, the program did not show me the soundboard or the RCA jack as one of the available options to choose to record sound from, it defaulted to the internal mic on the Mac as the only option.
I did not try going from the "mp3 in" line from the soundboard (which btw is a headphone port as well) to the headphone port on the back of the Mac.  I use an auxiliary cord to play music from the Mac through the soundboard with these headphone ports, but it just didn't seem obvious to me that this set up could be used for recording.
While I was downloading Audacity, the Mac was updating garageband, which I have little to no familiarity with.  I have done some research and found out that I could potentially use this to record from my soundboard as well.  So finally here is my questions:
    1) The back of the iMac has 4 USB ports, 1 FireWire port, 1 headphone port and 1 ethernet port.  Since there is no "mic-in" port, what port can I use to record audio from the soundboard in audacity or garageband?
    2) If I go from the soundboard with an RCA into the headphone port on the Mac, can I use garageband to record?

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

  • Recording audio from a Channel Send

I've done this before, but I can't seem to do it again.
I am trying to record audio from one channel (which is using an audio instrument) to another channel (an audio channel) using an audio send. I am not having a problem setting up the send. I am able to hear the audio correctly and independently on both channels. The problem occurs when I try to record the audio, because there is no "record" button on the channel header for me to arm the track. The track is set up as a "record-enabled" track, but in the space where the other tracks have the record button, there is just a empty space on this tracks header. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Well,
I seem to have found the problem. It appears that "audio tracks" will not allow you to arm them for recording unless there is a possible real audio input device connected to the computer. I plugged in my Snoball mic, allowed Logic to set it up as a device, and the record button magically appeared in the track header.
Hope this helps anyone else who is having a similar issue.

  • Recording Audio From A Sound Board

I was originally planning on buying a Samson Zoom H2, H4N, or ProTrack Stereo Recorder to begin recording audio at concerts I attend using the house sound board, but began wondering if the iPod Touch had the same capability, perhaps by adding an app of some kind. It would also be useful to record audio from weddings I videotape. I know there are voice recorders such as the Belkin that you can attach, but I was thinking more of connecting the iPod directly, by using a 1/4" to mini cable adapter. Is this possible? If so, what app would enable me to do this?

The issue I see with iTalk and similar iPod apps is that the iPod has no line-level input, so you'd have to use one of the earbud/microphone combinations or an external microphone like this one which will be limited as to quality. There are some other options here. But if you want pro quality, and particularly want to tap straight off of a mixing console, a device like the Alesis is going to be necessary, though there may be something less expensive that I can't find.
If a microphone works for you, then iTalk might be fine. There's a freeware version of iTalk, iTalk Lite, you can try, to see if it will do the job. It doesn't have the advanced playback controls and has a limit of 2MB per recording, but it should allow you to test it out. Voxie is another possibility.
    Regards.

  • Recording Audio from Video Tape

Hi! I want to record audio from a video tape and put the audio into my imovie. I have done this funtion before, but I can't seem to remember how! I am able to play the movie (the video tape) in a VCR which then goes through my "bridge" (DV Converter) and into the computer. When I open imovie and import the video and audio into a "clip", I can't seem to play the clip and record the "audio" in the audio section. Again, I have done this before, I just don't remember how. Can anyone help??

Hi Kim - welcome to the forum!
You would simply extract the audio from the clip - select it, then go Advanced>Extract Audio (Command J). This will place the audio in the top audio track. Then you can delete the clip, and move the extracted audio to wherever you want it.
    Does that help?

  • Connecting the platinum to my audio mi

Is there a way to connect the platinum to my audio mixer without using the front panel headphone jack? I've had some success going from headphone out to line in on the mixer, but there is the feedback problem since the preamp goes back to the rca inputs on the front panel (I also use the front panel inputs to record from vinyl, but not at the same time). Any advise is appreciated.

    Dburkhalter,
Yes it is a stereo minijack, and this could mean that you would loose 5. audio. However there are ways to make it work. The most popular option is to keep your 5. speakers plugged into the rear and center/sub channels and then just switching the output when needed for the front out. You would then set the card to 2. when using the mixer so that the other speakers wouldn't play.
As far as hooking it up like a tape deck, you would go from line out on the sound card to the line in on the preamp. Then run from the line out on the preamp (record out I would assume) to one of the inputs on the sound card (Aux 2 might be best). The trick is to mute the input that you connect the preamp to in playback so there is no feedback. Then you can record from it.
You may also consider getting a dedicated recording card for uses like this. The EMU/Creative Professional cards are very good at this (not to mention very affordable for a pro-level audio card) You can find more about them at www.emu.com. They are called the Digital Audio Systems and are available from many online vendors and local stores.

  • DVR620KU DVD records audio but no picture

Hello, I have my dvr combo hooked up to both my LG TV and external device (roku box). I have all of the correct cords in place as far as I know, i have input 1 for the tv and 2 for roku box. But when attempting to record on DVD, it: 1. Shows blue screen on both input select options, and 2. Records audio but no picture.  Any ideas where I may have gone wrong? Any help is much appreciated!

There may be some confusion about what is input and what is output for the DVR620.
Be very specific about how you have connected the DVR620. What is coming into L1 and L2? What is going out from HDMI, S-Video, video out, and/or component video out? What are the model numbers of the LG TV and the Roku?
If I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly, you're trying to connect your TV to L1 on the DVR620 and that's not going to work. L1 is an input signal to the DVR620, and the TV would also be expecting an input signal. The Roku could indeed be connected to L2 via composite video out from the Roku (assuming that model has that output).

  • Cannot adjust record audio level with I-Mic as audio in

    Hi,
I would like to record audio from my stereo through my Griffin Technologies I-Mic connection using Audacity audio software. I cannot adjust input recording audio down even though I have completely turned off the input audio on Audicity. The recording audio is pegging red and the recorded playback audio is completely overmodulated. The audicity help techs believe the problem lies with my sound card, which happens to be the Sound Blaster 24 bit.
Months ago, I was able to do it, but this time around had no success. Is there something that I can click on the soundblaster that will allow audicity to properly adjust the input audio?
    Karl

Wow, here I go again.....  I found out how I locked up the audio track of my video file.
After I re-imported my original video recording, and had adjusted the volume level, I had to expand my video image to fill my "canvas".  When I went to transform this layer, I was told I must first convert this to a smart object.  As soon as I did that, the track turned from blue to purple!
I would hope that if I edit my original video track in such a simple way, that I would NOT loose access to adjusting the volume of my video track......  But that is the odd way that this works.............
