Hi perx
Are you using M9470B/A or latest 802.11N?
If the latter have you updated firmware for it:

  • Tablet won't connect with static LAN IP address

Today I updated my Xperia tablet (model SGP311) to Android 4.4.2 (kernel version 3.4.0-perf-g32ce454).
My tablet no longer connects to my home wi-fi network if I assign it a static LAN IP address. It connects fine if I use DHCP. But I prefer to assign my devices static IP addresses when possible.
I have tried forgetting and re-connecting to my LAN several times without success. The static IP address worked fine until today's update.
    Any ideas?

I tried that already, too! New development...I have the same problem in my office now. So, clearly, it is a problem with my iTouch. It recognizes the networks, won't connect, and when I go into look at the network, there is not data (IP address, etc.) It's just blank. HELP!
You could try restoring the S/W on your iPod Touch. If that doesn't work you may need to talk to Apple about repair.

  • How can i connect to a LAN and external display at the same time using the mini-displayport?

    Hi all,
At work i'm connected to the Lan via an adapter and the mini displayport. I want to use my external display at the same time, which use the same mini displayport. Are there any splitters available to use both at the same time? Are there any other alternatives?

  • One Internet Connection, Two different LANS & Two DHCP Servers, How to share internet without conflict?

I have two LANs and one internet connection.  Each LAN has its own DHCP server.  I want to be able to have internet access on BOTH LANs but don't
want to have a DHCP conflict between them.
The main LAN is a Time Warner Cable modem and a Cisco router running DHCP going to a 48 port switch that has all the workstations connected.
The second is a stand alone Windows 2012 WDS server which is ONLY use to image computers via WDS. The server is running DHCP as well and is connected to another 48 port switch where I connect systems that need to be imaged.
I want to be able to provide internet access on LAN with the Windows 2012 WDS server so after I image the computers I can download drivers direct from the internet.   The Windows WDS server has two NIC cards but I am only using one.   Is
it possible to configure this so the internet from the main LAN is shared to the WDS server and its clients without causing problems with the two DHCP servers?   Here is a basic network diagram.   Thanks!

    Hi Adam,
To share the internet on secondary VLAN, please follow the steps below:
Connect the secondary switch to Cisco router
Configure the devices on secondary VLAN to use Cisco router as its' gateway
Configure NAT for secondary VLAN on Cisco router
Due to different manufacturer has different ways to configure, for detailed configuration information, please consult the manufacturer of the switch and router.
    Best Regards.

  • Cannot connect to office LAN anymore ... All IP addresses appear as taken

Until 1 month ago I was able to connect to the LAN at work with no problem using DHCP, both through the ethernet port and a through a WiFi router. One day, while I was connected, a pop-up window signalled :
    192.168.1.xxx in use by 00:06:b1:08:ca:20
( I write xxx since I don't remember the exact number at the time )
From that moment on I haven't been able to connect again. Every time I try I get the same message but with different addresses. If you try to assign the IP adresses manually, all appear taken by the same MAC address 00:06:b1:08:ca:20. The thing is that all the other 30+ computers and laptops (100% windows) at the office have no problem at all.
I tried a lot of things to no avail. At the time I had a Powerbook that had recently recovered from a FileVault disaster, and I thought that might be the cause. As I was about to buy another laptop, I worked for a few days using my mobile phone as a modem at the office (to great expense and slowness). I then bought my new shiny MacBook Pro and, surprise, I get exactly the same problem with my new machine !
I'm desperate. I need the laptop to work, and all my colleagues have no problem at all with the LAN.
Yesterday, after typing manually many addresses in my Network configuration panel, I did manage to connect through the WiFI router. But when the computer went to sleep I lost the conection and couldn't get an IP address again.
I am able to connect to the internet without problems at home (ADSL modem and Airport network) and at hotels via ethernet. The problem has appeared so far only on my office LAN.

    Charles,
    Thanks so much !
I told my IT manager about a possible problem with a Sonicwall device, and he remembered one of those devices was connected in the network, but with no real need. He removed it and my MacBook Pro connects without any problem.
I had mention to him my dilemma before but he was clueless. Your Sonicwall tip made all the difference.
Thanks again. You have just contributed to keep my faith in the computing world.

  • My laptop is connected to company LAN on wire and I have another active wifi connection provided by a router. Can I use the wifi connection for mozilla connection and the wired for everything else? I'm on Win7.

I have 2 simultaneous active connections:
no1: wired connection to company lan; private IP 172.19..
no2: wireless connection to unrestricted traffic router; private IP: 192.168...
my question: can I use the wireless connection for mozilla traffic and the wired for everything else?
I'm on Windows7 Prof, all security updates installed.

Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center >
Click Change adapter settings from left panel > Open the network connection you want to change the DNS servers for by right click and select Properties > Select

    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
This IP belongs to Google public DNS.

  • Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally?

I hope I'm submitting this properly, I apologize if this irritates anyone because of improper etiquette. Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally? This is a condition which seemed to start just recently and abruptly. These applications reside on, and are launched from the startup drive, not from a network drive. Also, we have a NAS drive on the LAN that we connect to that also takes a minute or two to mount, when it used to (before this problem) mount on the desktop in a matter of about 5 seconds. We have three identical Mac Pros on the LAN, and they all have this problem when launching and using the above mentioned applications. When I physically unplug the network cable from the Mac, all applications launch instantly and function normally. I know very little about networks, so I can't begin to test or change any setting pertaining to our network - if that is where the problem lies. The only recent change to our network situation is that we lost or our internet and phone service due to massive flooding here in Minot, North Dakota (our ISP tells us the communication lines are under water and shorting out). But shouldn't our LAN still function even though we have lost our connection to the outside world? Thanks so much, in advance, for helping me solve this problem. Sheldon.

    Hi there.
A slow LAN can have many things so its going slow.
    1) is your lan 1gbit speed? (full duplex)
    2) are the macs also 1Gbit speed? (full duplex)
    3) does your nas has a firewall? (so you can see what the mac asking there)
    4) on the macs is the firewall on? (does the programms can pass the fw?)
    5) how big is the nas and how many files/dirctorys are on the nas? (big folders speeds down )
many questions, but sometimes there is a solution.

  • Connecting 2 wireless lans together?

I've been having some difficulty searching for the answer to my problem. It's very simple. I'm renting the lower half of the house from my cousin. We have two internet connections in the house. One upstairs and one downstairs. So we have two cable modems and we each have a wireless router. Mine is a Linksys WRT300N I believe. His is a DLink WBR-1310. We'll call his network Lan1 and my network Lan2. Lan1 has a PC and a Ps3 behind the router. I have a PC and two Ps3's behind mine. We both have a media server running on our PC's so we can stream video to our Ps3's. We would like to connect our Lans together so we can access each other's PC and media servers to transfer/stream files. We don't want to share each others Internet connection. Each Lan has to keep it's own connection. We would prefer to connect them wirelessly but will go wired if it's a lot cheaper or easier. So how do we wirelessly connect the two lans so we can see each other's pc's but keep their own seperate internet connections? I've read something about just connecting the two routers with a normal ethernet cable and setting the gateways and dhcp settings manually. But wireless would be a lot better. I've heard something about needing a wireless bridge?

But wouldn't that make it one big lan? I've had two routers hooked up before behind one modem and you're setup sounds similar to this. I don't remember but something like disabling DHCP on the second router and connecting it using the uplink port on one. Just extending the lan I guess.
Would we still be using our own seperate internet connections? Kinda sounds like you're saying to make the second router a hub or switch. I'm not well versed on networking technology but I wonder if doing it your way we could set different gateway settings or whatever is needed to keep our own connections.
From what i've read it sounds like we would need two wireless bridges. So router1>bridge---bridge<router2 kinda thing. I'd rather not spend money for two bridges though. Other option would be to run a 100 foot patch cable from one router to the other. Would they communicate this way?
You'd think in this day and age it wouldn't be a problem to connect two lans together.

  • Intermittent Connection via AEBS Lan Port

I have an AEBS connected to a cable modem via the WAN port, which allows my G4 laptop to access the internet. I have a G5 desktop (dual 2.3 w/o airport card) connected the AEBS LAN port. The internet connection to the G5 desktop intermittently fails and recovers. The internet connection on the G4 laptop does not fail during the connection failures on the hardwired G5 desktop.
I should add that there was a power failure/surge that resulted in a replaced startup volume on my G5 desktop. Apple did the diagnostics and HD replacement. Prior to that, both by wireless and hardwired internet connections worked flawlessly.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

1-whether that HD is open to the world at its IP
    assigned by the AEBS
If you are using NAT then you have a hardware firewall which stops unwanted connections to the NAS.
2-whether if someone can access it then does that
give them a portal to the rest of my network?
If they can access the NAS they already have access to the rest of the network. The NAS can not be a portal, you have to be on the network to connect to it.
It seems more secure to go 100% wireless, but maybe
    that's a bad perception.
Wired is more secure than wireless, however if you are using WPA then you are pretty secure.

  • Finding out all systems connected to a LAN

Hi All...I am interested to find out all the systems connected to my LAN...Could any one pls provide some clue about...Thx

First we have to agree on what 'connected' means. If you just mean a piece of wire, it can't be done. If you mean that all the systems are both physically connected and logically connected via IP, and that they're all in the same IP subnet or a limited number of discoverable subnet(s), and that you can determine what the IP subnet is/are, and that they will all respond to ICMP 'ping' or TCP 'echo' requests, or better still a UDP broadcast to each subnet, and that all this will reliably happen at the time you do the query, it's just a matter of iterating over the possible IP addresses in the subnets and calling InetAddress.isReachable(), or sending a UDP broadcast to each subnet's broadcast address and seeing who responds, repeating a few times to take account of possible UDP datagram losses.
In general you can't rely on all these conditions being met.

  • Finding IP address of all computers connected to a LAN

Not sure if this is the correct place to post but I would like to know how I find the local IP address of all computers connected to my LAN without manually entering ifconfig | grep inet on every machine

Do you need to know specifically which IP address is used by which machine? or just a list of IP addresses that are used?
If the former, there really isn't much option other than walking through the machines. You can query the ARP table to find the MAC address of each machine but unless you know the MAC address of every device on your network that's not going to help much.
If you just need a list of used addresses, though, then pinging the broadcast address should get you close. The broadcast address is the last address in your subnet, so if you're using 192.168.1.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 then your broadcast address is 192.168.1.255.
    In that case:
    ping -c 1 192.168.1.255
will send out a broadcast ping which should get returned by every device on the LAN. Note that some devices may be configured to not respond to broadcast pings, so it may not be an absolute list.
