Connecting to WRT300N with Dell 1450 USB adapter

Hey that's the long and short of it, I recently set up a 300N and the wireless network is detected on two seperate laptops.
I have a separate desktop, and a dell 1450 wireless USB adapter. It doesn't seem to be detecting the network. I tried with my laptop directly next to and further away than the adapter, which works fine. The desktop adapter detects loads of other networks, but not mine. I have enabled encryption.
why won't it detect my network?

open the router web interface....under the wireless settings , change the radio band - wide , wide channel - 9 , standard channel - 11 ..
check whether this makes any difference....

  • I recently purchased an Onkyo stereo receiver with a wireless USB adapter, UWF-1, and want to stream audio from my MacBook Pro through my stereo system. The receiver tells me it is connected to my wireless LAN, but I cannot get music to play?

New to the community here, thanks for your patience.  I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo Receiver with the UWF-1 USB adapter with the intent to stream audio from my MacBook Pro to the stereo. I have gone through the setup instructions for the adapter and the receiver gives me a message saying that it is connected to the password protected network, but that is as far as I can get.
I have gone into iTunes and clicked on the "Open Stream" option, but I just get a pop up box labeled "URL" that is empty. I have Home Sharing turned on and File Sharing turned on, but I am not seeing the receiver in my Finder window or as a iTunes device.
I would appreciate any and all advice and assistance.
    Thanks so much.
    Dan

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • Laserwriter 16/600 connection with parallel to USB adapter

I have a mac mini and and the great ole workhorse Apple laswerwriter 16/600 PS printer. I bought a parallel to USB adapter cable but have been unable to get it to work.
Also the ethernet connector on the printer is a very small type connector unlike the current ethernet type ports. Would I be better off trying to find this type of an adapter?
I have spent hours searching and can't believe I am the first one to ask this question.
    Thanks All!

The Ethernet connection supports Ethernet communication via an AUI-15 connection, when used with an external AAUI-to-twisted pair (RJ-45) transceiver. It is located between the LocalTalk (MiniDIN8) and Fax (RJ-11 4-pin modular jack) ports. Its Icon resembles:
    <__>
To use it, you need only purchase a transceiver, available for US$5 to 10 at eBay or used computer dealers.

  • How can I connect a device with a mini USB, to my iPod?

    Hi. Everyone
I have an MP3 player with a mini USB port.  How do I connect it to my iPad?
    JusticeDog

If you say that there is built in speakers. Most probably the connection is HDMi. You will need an adapter to connect the MacBook Air to the monitor through HDMI, at the same time, the adapter needs to support video and AUDIO.

  • Express and eMac with D-Link USB Adapter

I went down to my local Apple Centre to get an Airport Card for my eMac (700mhz). He said they didn't have any but recommended I buy a D-Link USB Adapter (802.11g/2.4ghz wireless) to connect to the Internet via Airport Express. But I can't get the Mac to recognise it - when I use the Airport Assistant it says I have to connect via Ethernet as there is no Airport card Installed. Any ideas where I can find a step-by-step installation guide? Or any help here would be great!
    Thanks

Unfortunately the drivers required for these USB wireless adapters frequently don't work well with Mac OS X. Many people never get them to work properly. Some people find the magical combination and get them to work.
The best solution is the correct AirPort card.
The next best solution is an Ethernet wireless adapter. These require no drivers and therefore work with any Ethernet device. Examples of Ethernet wireless adapters are the Linksys WET11, Linksys WET54G, and the Buffalo Technology WLI-TX4-G54HP bridge.

  • Trying to connect to internet via rokair wireless usb adapter

I have a graphite clamshell ibook g3. I got it in 2000 and it did the job for me back then. it was great. In 2005 I upgraded the os to 10.3. now i would just like to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly (to linksys cisco router for comcast) to do simple things online, nothing fancy. rather than pay for an airport card (which it didnt come with) and hub, i just bought a rokair usb adapter. My ibook only has 1 usb port and its indented so the rokair people sent me a 1ft usb 2.0 wire to attach to the adapter. Ive installed the driver for os 10.3 but the computer does not recognize the usb adapter. Its still giving me as "internal modem" and "built-in ethernet" as my only options in the network folder. Is the computer not recognizing the USB 2.0? IS it even possible to upgrade this computer to acknowledge this type of USB?
    Thanks

Your iBook has USB 1.1. That adapter appears to be backward compatible with USB 1.1 so that shouldn't be a problem.
You probably should contact their support to see if they can offer any suggestions.

  • Connecting kurzweil sp88 to GB I want to connect my Kurzweil sp88 to GB. The Kurzweil has a baffling array of buttons and possible MIDI channels. It also has the old style MIDI plug ins. I've got the MIDI out connected to my MacBook Pro via USB adapter.

I have my Kurzweil connected to my MacBook Pro via an adapter (old style MIDI from Kurzweil to USB adapter connecting to Mac). The Kurzweil has a baffling array of buttons and possible MIDI channels. Can anyone please tell me which of the channels I should use? Also, should I leave the MIDI In cable out of the Kurzweil? Thanks for as detailed an answer as possible. If you like you can respond directly to me at [email protected]

First of all I do not own this keyboard. But a quick look at the manual (found on the internet) says that when first powered up the SP88 is in Internal Sounds mode. Meaning you hear the sounds selected when playing the keyboard. It also stated that the default Midi Transmit Channel is Midi Channel #1.
Looks like you would need to go to the SP88 Keyboard's MIDI SETUP and simply select LOCAL OFF. Now the keyboard should be ready to transmit Midi Out only and no internal sounds should be heard.
Next you may or may not need to do this but you might need to go into the Utilities Folder found in your Applications Folder on your Mac and double click AUDIO MIDI SETUP the keyboard Icon. Figure #1 below.
Next you need to make a physical connection from the Midi Out of the SP88 to the Midi In on your Midi Interface. Figure #3 below. You may need to Click on Add Device first. Figure #2 below.
In the examples shown below I have a Yamaha Electronic Drum Kit that is Midi Out only... not USB out. I had to plug a Midi cable from the Midi Out Port on the back of my Drum Module to the Midi In Port on the back of my Motu 828 Audio Inferface which is connected to my Mac. Next I created the Audio Interface and Drum Module "Devices" as mentioned above.
I then double clicked on the Drum Module and made my Midi Out Selections. Figure #4 Below. And once it was setup and the icons closed I used my mouse to draw a virtual cable connection from the Drum Module Out to the Audio Interface In. Figure #3 below. This is how I got my Midi Devices to talk to one another.
Once you have made your setup as I have outlined create a MIDI Instrument Track in Garageband, select an instrument for example a Piano then Record Enable that track in Garageband and see if you now hear what you are playing. In this example the SP88 is a Midi Controller only and you will only hear sounds selected in Garageband which is what you want.
Keep in midi your setup may be different than mine. You can keep your SP88 Keyboard on the default Midi Channel #1. That would be a good place to start. Garageband receives Midi on all channels.

  • Can my connection issues be solved by a USB adapter?

I would like to link my hi-fi/mac via my airport express. The issue is there is no internet port in the room.
Is it possible to plug in a Wireless Internet USB Adapter Wifi Dongle into the airport express to negate the need for a cable connection?
If so can you recommend one?
    Thanks,
    Gary.

. . is there anyway of connecting the airport to the internet without a cable?
    The short answer is "no".
To do what you want, it will require 2 AirPort Express devices.
The first AirPort Express would be configured to "join" the existing wireless network and the ethernet port would need to be enabled during setup.
The second would connect the first using an ethernet cable and the second device would be configured to "create a wireless network" (for up to 10 wireless devices).
It's really clunky, but it will work...I've done it in the past at hotels that only furnished a wireless connection. I wanted to connect 3-4 other wireless devices and the hotel would only allow one connection at a time to connect to the network.

  • MacMini with Wireles-N USB adapter

Guys, I want to up-speed my MacMini from Wireless G to N. Not to keep on ripping it apart to install a N card and then loose the warranty. Thus, was considering installing a Wireless N USB adapter (and disable the on-board adapter). I was thinking about the nNano from QuickerTek. Has any of you had success with doing just this (with the QuickerTek or another brand of adapter)?
    Thanks

I have been using their driver in my TiBook for over a year with a Netgear WG511T and it works perfectly. Much faster than the internal Airport card.

  • XBox 360 with an "n" usb adapter?

For the xbox 360 gamers out there--has anyone tried a wireless "n" usb adapter on the xbox so that it will be compatible with the "n" signal from the Airport Extreme? Or can the xbox 360 only use the proprietary xbox wireless adapter?

360 must use its proprietary adapter. Set Airport Extreme to use WPA security.

  • Wifi with LM Technologies USB adapter

The airport card on my Mac Mini failed (reception flickers and can't connect when others can easily) so rather than wait 4 weeks without a computer for a repair I bought an LM Technologies LM006 USB adapter thinking it was a cheap and cheerful workaround. I've installed the Realtek WLAN Client utility but it doesn't open just bounces once in the dock then gives up.
Not sure if the problem is that the USB isn't designed for a computer that already has an (albiet failed) airport card?
Tried a few different settings, airport turned off, tried ethernet settings in network system prefs because I read somewhere it might be seen as an ethernet connection but I can't see any evidence anywhere, including system profiler, that the USB had been recognised at all.
    Any help much appreciated

    Thanks for that.
Sure I did the exact same thing this morning but maybe I pulled the ethernet able as well or something. Anyway this time the WLAN client utility bounced into life straight away and (a first) there was a green light on the usb adapter. After a few bits of fiddling around I'm online, playing airtunes and the ethernet cable is back in the cable drawer.
    Hurrah!!

  • How do I set up starry night with MacBook pro on the USB port with a serial/USB adapter?

How do I set up a MacBook Pro running Lion to interface with Starry Night software? My telescope is a Meade LX200GPS with a serial input. I have tried using a Radio Shack USB/Serial adapter which worked when I used a Windows 7 laptop but does not work with my MacBook Pro.

Just started to research this on both this site and on Starry Night .I was hoping to find a driver for the Radio Shack USB Serial Adapter from Apple's site. Radio Shack only has the Windows driver that came with the adapter. Will let you know when I find the right driver. Stay tuned.

  • Jumpy Mouse when connected to monitor with Thunderbolt-to-miniDVI-Adapter

    Hello everybody,
I have a Macbook Pro with Mavericks installed.
I've been working with a plugged in Packard Bell Monitor on my MBP for a few months now, everything went good.
But now, since yesterday, the mouse jumps all over the screen and it's really annoying!
I googled the problem and I now know that it's because of the Adapter I'm using, but it's strange.. I've had this monitor setting for quite a long time with no problems and now from one day to the other, there's this problem..
When I work only on the Macbook without a plugged in Monitor, it works normally and smoothly.
I even bought a new magic mouse because i thought it could be the external trackpad i'm using, but the problem is still here..
I cleaned my deck, cleaned the trackpad, cleaned my hands..
Sometimes the cursor moves only from left to right..
Do you know a way to fix this problem? Buy a new adapter? Buy another adapter? Buy a new monitor?
    Thanks for your help!
BTW: Excuse me for my "not that perfect english" :')

    Update.
    Still having the problem.
I changed the mini displayport to displayport cable:
    http://ca.startech.com/Cables/Audio-Video/DisplayPort/6-ft-Mini-DisplayPort-to- DisplayPort-Adapter-Cable-Male-to-Male~MDP2DPMM6
to this cable and am still having the same issue:
    http://outlet.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/0B47091/460/8FA0422CA6EA48B0BDED71D28 7F73673
I have heard that the issue may have something to do with the number of pins contained in the cable:Try another DisplayPort cable (One that is VESA compliant). Non-compliant DisplayPort cables may have snyc issues and may also have the # 20 pin pwr cable active. The # 20 pin is not suppose to be active and it may cause damage to your hardware.
The new Lenovo cable does not indicate if it is VESA compliant.
The main issue here is that after the Macbook Pro screen flashes blue upon waking, the screen brightness keys do not function. Only after removing the mini dispalayport cables do the brightness keys (F1&F2) function again.
Would really appreciate it if someone knows how to solve this issue?
    Kind regards
