Connecting turntable with 2007 iMac

I have a turntable that I would like to connect to my 2007 iMac to be able to play records through the iMac.  Is there a way that the two can be connected to do that?
Thanks for your suggestions.
Vernon

The iMac's audio input is Line Level and it will not pickup the weak audio signals from guitars, mic's, component turntables or similar devices.
see > Line level - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You will need to have the turntable connected to a receiver and then the receiver connected to the iMac's audio input port with a stereo RCA to 3.5mm cable or adapter.
For examples:
see > Amazon.com: RiteAV - 3.5mm to RCA Stereo Female Cable - 6 inch: Electronics
or > Amazon.com: Cables To Go - 40645 - 3.5mm Stereo Male To 2X RCA Female Adapter: Electronics
Plus, then if you want to pass the audio thru from the iMac's input to output, you will also need a handy little App called LineIn.

  • 3D issues with 2007 iMac and Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
Prior to the 13.1 Cloud member update, the 3D engine worked on my 2007 iMac with a 128VRAM video card. With the upgrade it no longer works. Is there a way to return to the pre-update state? From internet searches I performed, the card is soldered to the motherboard, and not easily upgradeable. I know I'm not the only Photoshop user who has this issue. Illustrator's 3D engine still works. Seems like the one for Photoshop should as well. Thanks for your consideration.

Follow up: I was able to re-install the earlier version of Photoshop CS 6 on my computer.

  • Using Sony's PS-LX300USB turntable with my iMac

Is there a software that would allow me to use Sony's PS-LX300USB turntable on my Mid-2011 iMac w/ iOS 10.8? It comes with Sound Forge's s/w which is PC  only. Thanks

    Yes, and No!
Lightroom won't allow you to use IDC on the Raw file, Lightroom only allows ACRaw to be used to "develop" a raw file. However, you can use Lightroom's ranking and review functions to help you decide which files you want to work with. Then right click and select show in explorer. Then select the file you want to develop, and tell Explorer to open in IDC. You then can develop, save as a Tiff and import.
Pain in the Arse isn't it?
Frankly if you have access to Bridge then this is faster and more convenient. Import the ARW and use IDC to make Tiffs.
But why do you want to do this?
Frankly DRO only becomes special when you use DRO Advanced. Anything else can be easily duplicated in Lightroom. DRO Advanced can not be done by IDC,(it's like Lightzone on Steroids) it's done by the camera, the processor looks at each pixel and compares it with adjacent pixels and makes adjustments in the jpg. So the only way to utilise DRO Advanced (and it's astonishing what is achieved) is to shoot in Jpg (and probably in cRaw + Jpeg) I shoot everything in cRaw only but have a MR setting to utilise DRO Advanced - cRaw + Jpeg, ISO 200 (remember that DRO advanced effectively locally amplifies the pixels, so if you start at say ISO 800 certain pixels could be amplified to ISO 6400!
I can then import both the cRaw and the Jpeg.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • Why won't Apple fix the wifi connectivity problem with the iMac and new OS instead of just havin us go through hours of useless mock fixes!

I have spent hours with apple care about this problem with wifi connectivity.  According to all the posts I'm not alone.  I love my new IMAC
but i'll be glad to go back to my PC just so I can get my email without all the headaches.  It seems that Apple has lost interest in
the IMAC and all of the problems associated with the new OS.

Keep in mind that ASC is where people go to get help, so yes, you are seeing reports of people who are having WiFi connection issues. But while it might seem like there are lots of people having trouble, given the sheer number of iMacs in use, it is a very small number. Also keep in mind that WiFi isn't totally under Apple's control. There are dozens of WiFi routers. Even worse, the manufacturers of WiFi routers often release firmware upgrades to fix flaws without ever informing the consumer. And just to add to the confusion, while WiFi 801.2 n routers have been sold for several years, for most of that time there was no agreed upon standard!
So if you'd like help, first, what router do you have and have you checked the vendor site to see that it has the latest firmware?

  • TS2972 Connection Issues with Macbook, iMac, and Apple TV 3

I have an Apple TV 3 (ATV3) and my iMac connects via Home Sharing just fine, but my MacBook running 10.6.8 doesn't show up, nor does it recognize the iMac in iTunes. All devices have Home Sharing turned on using the same AppleID. Any thoughts as to why my Macbook seems to be the odd one out?

I had this problem earlier and was able to solve it by checking the display setting in the System Prefrences. This link will help you. http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=B%26sec tion=4%26tasks=true

  • Connecting mid-2007 iMac to LG TV via mini dvi to HDMI

I am trying to connect my mid-2007 iMac to my 42" LG HDTV to no avail. I am running iOS 10.6 Snow Leopard. I bought the mini dvi to HDMI adapter and plugged the iMac into the TV. I went to the display tab in the system settings and see that the iMac recognizes the tv. I went to the arrangements section and it recognizes the tv. When I click on gather windows it even calls it the LG TV. However, there is nothing showing on my TV. It says no input detected. When I move my mouse to the right side of the screen it disappears like it is going to a second monitor.
    Any thoughts?

Hey Corinthone, did you ever figure it out? I have a mid2007 iMac running snow leopard & a 120hz LGTV 42". I was having the same issues as you(yes Frankie, I made sure I was selecting the correct hdmi input). Now with the same setup, my LG recognizes the HDMI input from my iMac. It says connecting but then 'no signal' on the screen. The hdmi2 is still showing a connection in 'inputs' just no picture on TV. I started changed the setting via my mac but still nada. The lg is 120hz. Does that have anything to do with it?  Thanks

What adapter do I need to connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to my 2007 iMac? I get really confused with all of the different cables out there an I want to make sure I get the correct one.
    Macbook Pro Model is: Late 2009, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
iMac Model: Late 2007, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
    Thanks!

The 2007 iMac does not support cabled input. see > Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Like Niel suggest's, your only option is to use a network based connection like > ScreenRecycler

I recently updated my 20-inch, Mid 2007 iMac with the latest OS 10.8.5 now my external hard drives will not show up. They show up when I boot them up on a machine running and earlier OS. Is there a fix for this?

Can you see them in Disk Utility?
If so, can you select and Mount them?
If not, disconnect them, reset the iMac's SMC and then reconnect them.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
If you still can not see them, connect them back up to the iMac running the older OS, open Disk Utility and look to see how they are partitioned and formatted.

  • Connecting Turntable to iMac Intel Core Duo

    Hi there,
I'm totally new to GarageBand. I need to know if it's possible to connect a turntable (with RCA jacks) to my iMac. The turntable would also require a mini hi-fi system to be connected. In addition a pre-amplifier is also necessary. I have all these, they are around 9 years old, but they work!
Can this be done? If so, what kind of connection do I need to put this all together. I don't see RCA connectors on iMac, so I assume that an RCA-to-something connector would be required so that I can record vinyl into my iMac.
Also, is the mini hi-fi system required? Does the iMac look after the sound? As an option, can I connect the mini audio system to the iMac and use the mini audio's speakers with the iMac?
Sorry if this sounds vague, this is all new to me, I just want to know if it is at all feasible to hook up my turntable and record the vinyl into the iMac. What is required?
    Thanks so much!
Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1 GB DDR2 SDRAM, Netgear Router

The Mini has no Line-In for audio so at the very least you woul need a Griffin iMic/USB Audio Interface
In the past this has come with an RCA to 1/8" adaptor, I believe it still does. You can take the Line-Outs from the amplifier and plug them into the iMic, and the iMic into a USB port on the Mini
Also, is the mini hi-fi system required?
    Yes
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#turntable
Does the iMac look after the sound?
I have no idea what this means.
    As an option, can I
connect the mini audio system to the iMac and use the
mini audio's speakers with the iMac?
You can plug the headphone-Out of the Mac into a spare line-in on the stereo (for instance an Aux In). You would likely need another 1/8" stereo to RCA style adaptor.
