Connecting TV to external Sony speakers.

Hi, I have a 32DT2U1 and a Sony mini hifi component system mhc-ec909iP.
What I am trying to do obviously is connect my tv to my stereo. My tv has the red and white audio out, and a digital audio out (NOT the optical). On the otherhand, my stereo only has a "pc in" input. Is there ANY way to connect the two? Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I connect directly to external wall speakers with my iPhone

    Hi All,
In the shop where I work they have a couple of speakers built into the wall. There is a wall plate where a person could connect to these speakers with a stereo. (two wires for each speaker) Can I connect directly to these speakers with some sort of a breakout wire coming off the iPhone's 3.5mm headphone jack (suggestions) or the iPhone's dock connector (suggestions). I just want to listen to random music from my iPhone and I really don't want to buy a speaker system for my iphone for this location.
    Thanks,
    KDC

No. The iPhone doesn't have the power to drive speakers. If you can get to the input of the amp that feeds those speakers, then you do what you want.

  • Cable to connect iPad to external Logitech speakers ?

Hi, I have Logitech mm50 portable speakers for my iPod touch, and am wondering if I can also connect my iPad to them. Since the IPod touch actually sits on the dock mount, which the iPad obviously can't do, I was wondering if there is a suitable cable.
    Interested to hear your replies,
    Thanks,
    SeaDream

My daughter has a pair of Blockbox headphones and as I was trying them out, I realised that the-detachable - cable fitted the headphone sockets on both the iPad and Logitech speaker unit.
I connected them, and was able to hear music from the ipad through the speakers.
Would this solution ( from headphone to headphone output ) be of less audio quality than attaching a cable from the 30-pin iPad socket to the Logitech headphone output ?

  • How do I connect my MacBookPro to my external amp/speakers.

How do I connect my MacBookPro to my external amp/speakers.
There's is no choice in sys pref to choose LINE OUT, only INTERNAL SPEAKERS.

The headphone jack is your combo headphone/line out. You use a mini plug on the MBP end and, depending on your external amp/speakers, either a mini jack or a pair of RCA jacks.
PS. Your OS X level can't be 10.3.7 ... MacBook Pro's were first delivered with OS X Tiger 10.4.

  • Connect external amplified speakers

    Hi,
My daughter asks if it is possible to connect external amplified speakers to her Sat Pro P 200, and if so, how please ?
eg perhaps an old set of Altec Lansing ATP5's.
    Thanks.

You can connect the speakers via the headphone socket and still use the radio.
You cannot switch between radio and music via the remote, only via the menu on the iPod.

  • Will speakers play if connected to hdmi screen without speakers?

I have just ordered a Macbook Air. I have an external monitor that has speakers seperate. If I use a minidisplay port to hdmi adaptor to connect to the monitor, will the sound be able to be played out of the speakers of the Air? If not, can I connect an audio jack and have it play through the seperate speakers?
    Thanks

    Hi iWannaMBP,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to know about the audio output support of your MacBook Air when using an external display. On a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013), audio and video out are supported when using a DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and you can select the output source from Sound in System Preferences, the articles below provide more details and will walk you through adjusting the output preferences.
MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) - Technical Specifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP678
HDMI audio and video output using third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (sold separately)
OS X Mavericks: If you can’t hear sound from your speakers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13841
If you’re trying to listen through external speakers
Make sure the speakers are plugged into the audio out port (or, if your computer has only one audio port, the audio port) on your computer or computer’s display, and if necessary, into a power supply. Check for a power switch and volume adjustment on your external speakers. If necessary, turn the speakers on and try adjusting the speaker volume.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, then click Output. If your computer has only one audio port, choose Sound Output from the “Use audio port for” menu, and then make sure your external speakers are selected.
If you’re trying to listen through speakers or headphones connected only to the USB port on your computer or computer’s display, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, then click Output. Make sure the external USB speakers are selected. Open System Information, and make sure you see your speakers listed.
If your external speakers still aren’t working, check the information that came with your speakers.
    I hope this helps.

  • HT6067 How can I connect 5.1 surround sound speakers to my Mac Pro?

How to connect 5.1 surround sound speakers without a receiver to my Mac Pro, so I can test and hear surround sound files I am creating?

As far as I know, the only way to do that is with the digital out, toslink I believe(1). . Currently there are very few external usb soundcards that are known to work with Mac and produce 5.1 sound, perhaps Diamond Multimedia or Zalman?. Analog surround really doesn't work (green, yellow, black cords)*. So, maybe, Garage band/VLC? or the dvd player might be the only things I know that could produce 5.1 sound, but I could be wrong.......
    (1) You will  need a speaker set with an optical input...
    * maybe try this--i think it's called an " HD audio rush " box and it converts digital to analog audio 5.1 supposedly-, you can look on ebay for similar things
sorry I couldn't be of more help

  • HD 2300 webcam kills external PC speakers

When HD 2300 webcam is connected via USB (PC is HP Pavilion 500 running Windows 7) - my external PC speakers only make a loud buzzing noise, music won't play on speakers (MP3 music files via Windows Media Player).  Music plays OK when webcam is disconnected.  Called HP support, they temporarily "fixed" this via remote control but webcam wouldn't come on.  When rebooted the PC, webcam came on and the problem returned.  Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hello @VladR,
I understand that you are experiencing a buzzing sound from your speakers when you plug in your webcam. I am setting out some steps for you to try below:
    Step 1. Click Start
    Step 2. Click Control Panel
    Step 3. Click Sound
Step 4. Click the Recording Tab
Step 5. Click on the Microphone
    Step 6. Click on Properties
Step 7. Look for Acoustic echo cancellation and make sure it is check
***NOTE: You may have different settings, different tabs depending on the drivers installed. What you are looking for here is the ability to impede the feedback that you are getting. If you cannot get the feedback to completely stop you may want to look into separating the speakers from your webcam as much as you can.
If you are unsure as to what options to choose you can take screenshots of the tab contents of ALL the tabs you see and post it so I can see and help.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • How do i play music from my ipod shuffle gen 4 on external powered speakers

Can I play music from my IPOD shuffle gen 4 using external powered speakers?  If so, how do I hook it up?

First a curiosity question. Why do you want to play through the computer? Why not use headphones?
Ok, now to your question. I have never done this before, but this intrigued me. I did some experimenting and got it to work. Here is what I did:
    1) Connect Touch to computer.
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) Your device will show up in the left panel.
    4) Click the little triangle next to your device to expand it.
    5) You now have access to the different content on the Touch.
I have played stuff from Music, Movies and my playlists. Everything works the same way as if it was on your PC.
Hope that helps and good luck!

  • IMac - External USB Speakers

Why does new iMac not recognize external usb speakers when connected to the back of the unit.  It only recognizes them when connected to a usb hub or the additional usb ports on the wired keyboard?  I'm receiving distortion from dac which I suspect is due to low signal strength.

there is no such thing as usb speakers
all usb speakers being that usb don¨'t carry audio at all
are usb audio cards usb audio cards require drivers if the usb audio card model you own does not have
drivers included in Mavericks you need to install the drivers from the usb audio card makers site if they does not
support Mavericks with their drivers your speakers will not work

  • External UCube speakers don't work after awakening from sleep mode since 10.7.5 upgrade

Ever since I upgraded to 10.7.5 when I wake my computer from sleep mode...my external UCube speakers don't work unless I unplug them and plug them back in. I've already tried resetting the SMC. It recognizes and shows the speakers in the sound preferences...but no sound unless I reconnect the usb cable. Worked fine in 10.7.4
Any ideas? Its ridiculous all the audio problems being reported.

I have a mac mini (A1283) with OS 10.7.4. Upon upgrading to 10.7.5 it did not start up again. Instead, the light was on and the hard drive did not start up. The light on the connected USB mouse was not lit.
    My solution:
    Cold start with Command-v pressed.
This should start Verbose mode (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492 ).
What happened on my mac mini was that the grey startup screen with the Apple logo appeared for a long while before the login screen came.
Maybe Cmd-v set open firmware params and fixed some corruption.
Anyway: my mac mini works again.

  • External powered speakers pop on wake from sleep

I just got new iMac 21.5, the most recent one that came out in May 2011. It is replacing my old iMac, the 21.5 that came out late 2009. When the new iMac wakes from sleep, the external speakers that I have connected (Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks) may a loud pop. This did not happen with my old iMac. The speakers are connected in the earphones out port. There is no difference in the setup between the two iMacs, and I have not changed the setup with the speakers. Everything is plugged in just the way it was.
I don't think the exact make of the speakers is important; what's important is that they're external powered speakers. Answers or discussion of any of these questions would be helpful:
Anyone with a new iMac having this problem?
Anyone with a new iMac not having this problem?
Has anyone with any kind of Mac had this problem and had it fixed?
The tech at the Apple Store said he was happy to swap out the logic board, but felt that the pop may still be there afterwards. He thought that this pop through external powered speakers when waking from sleep may or may not be normal in some cases. He said it's possible that Apple may have changed the audio circuitry from the time my old iMac was built. (The new logic board is currently on order.)
    Thank you,
    Mario

I found the following article from Apple: TA20612. It reads as follows:
"The popping sound does not indicate any software issue or hardware failure. This is a normal part of hardware-software initialization after waking from sleep or during startup."
I'm a bit skeptical. I think I would have noticed this on the old iMac. Since I haven't yet sold it, I'm going to try to arrange for some side-by-side testing. I'll update this thread when I have the results.

  • Excel SSAS Tabular error: An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source

    Hello there,
I have an Excel report I created which works perfectly fine on my dev environment, but fails on my test environment when I try to do a data refresh.
The key difference between both dev and test environments is that in dev, everything is installed in one server:
    SharePoint 2013
SQL 2012: Database Instance, SSAS Instance, SSRS for SharePoint, SSAS POWERPIVOT instance (Powerpivot for SharePoint).
In my test and production environments, the architecture is different:
SQL DB Servers in High Availability (irrelevant for this report since it is connecting to the tabular model, just FYI)
SQL SSAS Tabular server (contains a tabular model that processes data from the SQL DBs).
2x SharePoint Application Servers (we installed both SSRS and PowerPivot for SharePoint on these servers)
2x SharePoint FrontEnd Servers (contain the SSRS and PowerPivot add-ins).
Now in dev, test and production, I can run PowerPivot reports that have been created in SharePoint without any issues. Those reports can access the SSAS Tabular model without any issues, and perform data refresh and OLAP functions (slicing, dicing, etc).
The problem is with Excel reports (i.e. .xlsx files) uploaded to SharePoint. While I can open them, I am having a hard time performing a data refresh. The error I get is:
"An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source [...]"
I ran SQL Profiler on my SSAS Server where the Tabular instance is and I noticed that every time I try to perform a data refresh, I get the following entries:
Every time I try to perform a data refresh, two entries under the user name ANONYMOUS LOGON.
Since things work without any issues on my single-server dev environment, I tried running SQL Server Profiler there as well to see what I get.
As you can see from the above, in the dev environment the query runs without any issues and the user name logged is in fact my username from the dev environment domain. I also have a separated user for the test domain, and another for the production domain.
Now upon some preliminary investigation I believe this has something to do with the data connection settings in Excel and the usage (or no usage) of secure store. This is what I can vouch for so far:
Library containing reports is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
Library containing data connections is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
The Data Provider referenced in the Excel report (MSOLAP.5) is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
In the Excel report, the Excel Services authentication settings is set as "use authenticated user's account". This wortks fine in the DEV environment.
Concerning SecureStore, PowerPivot Configurator has configured it the PowerPivotUnnattendedAccount application ID in all the environments. There is
NO configuration of an Application ID for Excel Services in any of the environments (Dev, test or production). Altough I reckon this is where the solution lies, I am not 100% sure as to why it fails in test and prod. But as I read what I am
writing, I reckon this is because of the authentication "hops" through servers. Am I right in my assumption?
Could someone please advise what am I doing wrong in this case? If it is the fact that I am missing an Secure Store entry for Excel Services, I am wondering if someone could advise me on how to set ip up? My confusion is around the "Target Application
    Type" setting.
    Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi Rameshwar,
PowerPivot workbooks contain embedded data connections. To support workbook interaction through slicers and filters, Excel Services must be configured to allow external data access through embedded connection information. External data access is required
for retrieving PowerPivot data that is loaded on PowerPivot servers in the farm. Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue:
In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
    Click Excel Services Application.
    Click Trusted File Location.
Click http:// or the location you want to configure.
In External Data, in Allow External Data, click Trusted data connection libraries and embedded.
    Click OK.
    For more information, please see:
Create a trusted location for PowerPivot sites in Central Administration:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee637428.aspx
Another reason is Excel Services returns this error when you query PowerPivot data in an Excel workbook that is published to SharePoint, and the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis
Services (PowerPivot) service is stopped. Please check this document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff487858(v=sql.110).aspx
Finally, here is a good article regarding how to troubleshoot PowerPivot data refresh for your reference. Please see:
