Connecting two monitors to my HP Pavilion p7-1415 destop

I just got this new p7-1415 and I decided to use my old HP w1858 monitor and  a new HP w2072a monitor. The computer has two DVI ports so  I tried to connect the second monitor with a VGA to DVI adapter like i did the first one but it didn't work. So I ordered  a DVI-D dual link cable ( this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E8SY5G/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 ).
But it still isn't connecting. Please help me.
I just got this computer brand new about over a week ago.

Hi kishap8,
Have you made changes in the display settings to make the PC use both monitors? It doesn't extend the screen on it's own.
Here is an HP Support document on how to change display settings: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03366869&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5309983
And here are a couple videos (for Windows 7 that is very similar to Win 8) on how to work with multiple monitors:

Can I connect two Monitors to a mac mini

Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors.  Early models only had one monitor port.  Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport.  Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port.  The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter.  The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such.  So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations

How do I connect two monitors to my macbook pro?  This question applies to both DVI and VGA, as I might have to work with multiple sets of monitors.

The MacBookPro only has enough horsepower in the video card for one external monitor.
If you want two or more, you need a MacPro.
Or a MacBook Pro and a Remote Desktop controlled MacMini.

can i connect two monitors to my mac book pro with HDMI?

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

Just a note about the system information that appears below your post: iOS 4.3.3 does not run on Macs, only on iPods, iPads and iPhones. When you're posting about your MBP, it would be more useful to those responding to know which version of Mac OS X you're running. Doesn't matter for purposes of this post, but something to remember for future posts.

  • What is the best way to connect two monitors to MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I want to connect two monitors to it (not Thunderbolt Displays). I was thinking about using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter to connect one monitor and a USB to DVI adapter to connect the other (such as Diamond BVU). But I have heard that this causes it to become slightly slow to respond on Mission Control and causes videos to lag. Is there anyway to connect two monitors without the lag? Or should I just use one monitor?

The MacBook Air only allows daisy chaining monitors via Thunderbolt with Apple's Thunderbolt displays so you'll need to go 3rd party with something like -

  • Problem Connecting Two Monitors

Just set up a new HP Mini 300-30 with two monitors. Monitor connection is through a device I bought that has HDMI cable connecting to back of HP Mini and two outlets on device to connect two monitors using VGA cables that came with each monitor. Monitors work but are set up with mirror image and I have not been able to find a way to make each monitor run indpendently. If I use keyboard and press Windows key + P it brings up a screen where I can select monitor options. I select the option to run separate monitors but nothing happens. I believe I have tried everything but the correct way.

  • How to connect two monitors using macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro through which I want to extend the displays to two individual monitors.
The two monitors should show two different windows which is opened through my macbook.
I have observed that macbook has only one mini display port through which I connect to HDMI or to DVI ports in monitor.
So how do I connect another monitor source to my macbook, which ports can help in this situation?
The monitors I have which can supports HDMI,DVI,VGA and DP ports.
Could anyone help me on this issue.
    Thanks.

You can use a USB 2.0/3.0 to HDMI/DVI interface.  You might also consder Thundebolt to HDMI/DVI.
The MBP 13" will support three screens (two external) and the MBP 15" will support four screen (three external).

  • Connecting multiple monitors to my HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook

I am trying to connect two Asus V-238H-P monitors to my laptop. I have had just one of the monitors in the past and got the second today. I connected the first one to my laptop with the VGA cable and it worked wonders. Now, since the HDMI and VGA ports are too close together on the notebook to use them simultaneously, I got a VicTsing USB 3.0 to VGA adapter to use for one and am using HDMI for the other. The problem is that the monitor connected to the adapter is not getting a signal. When I power on the monitor it says " NO VGA SIGNAL" and goes to sleep. The monitor connected to the HDMI is working fine.
I don't know if the adapter is the problem or if the USB port is the problem. When I go into the Screen Resolution (Windows 7 64-Bit) window, it can detect the display on VGA but when I extend the desktop to the display, nothing happens.
Apologies for the paragraph, thanks in advance.

I understand that when you connected 2 monitors, one with the HDMI connection ( works fine) and one with the USB adapter you are getting a no signal message on the USB connected one.  Here are two links I believe will assist you.

  • Connecting Two Monitors VIA USB

I was wondering if there are any setups for connecting two external DVI monitors VIA USB to my Macbook Pro late 2011.

For external displays you will have to use the Thunderbolt port ( with appropriate adapters) .

  • Connecting two monitors, keyboards etc to mac mini

I would like to keep the mac mini connected to my tv in the living room, and use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse.
At the same time, my wife would like the ability to use the macmini in the basement office (one level lower than the living room).
Therefore ideally, I would like to have a permanent monitor etc downstairs connected to the macmini - my wife (understandably) won't be willing to disconnect and reconnect the mac mini every time she needs to work downstairs!
Is there some bluetooth etc solution to this desire to run two monitors etc off of one mac mini. Obviously I am not suggesting we both try to use the computer at the same time.
    Thanks for your help.

There is no inexpensive method for connecting a remote monitor wirelessly to a Mac mini. The range of Bluetooth probably won't allow reliable use of the keyboard and mouse downstairs. You would in all cases be better off just buying a second Mac mini for your wife's use, since you are already having to buy a second keyboard, mouse, and monitor anyway.

  • Trouble connecting a monitor/project hp pavilion dv6

Cant get display on both screens.  Initially screen shrank on connecting monitor but have fixed this by changing the resolution.  Have selected Duplicate on both screens in the "connect to a projector" but sill blank on the monitor.  Compure is recognising the monitor as it is showing in the list of devices/printers.  Baffled.

I understand that you have connected a second display but have selected duplicate but it remains blank.
Initially the screen shrank which you resolved by changing the resolution.

  • Connect two monitors to macbook air NEW model

    Hi Apple experts
I know that this is not the first time people asking this question, but as I can see it is 1,5 year ago last time people asked.
I have the new 1,6 ghz Macbook Air and I want to connect two external screens which both only have VGA and DVI-connections.
Is it possible to connect the two screens and if yes, which adapters/ eternal equipment is needed?
I work in programs like Word, Excel and Chrome on the mainscreen and the other screen is only for a mail program. So as you can see it is not cpu-heavy programs that need to run.
    Thanks in advance

  • Question about connecting two monitors to Mid 2010 MBP

I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro (running OS X, 10.6.8), and I want to connect it to two ASUS monitors (VS228H-P) that have HDMI, DVI, and VGA interfaces.
    1) Is this possible?
    2) What parts will I need to make the connection?
    3) Will I be able to close the lid without the MBP going to sleep?
    4) Any recommendations for an external mouse and clickety-clack keyboard? (My preference is for wireless, but I'm open to wired, too).
If there are other recommendations for configuration (I'd like to spend less than $150/monitor. They won't be used for gaming, but for working from home and watching various media...)
