Connecting two printers one IMAC

Is it possible to connect two printers to an IMac ?
One is a HP printer, fax, scanner and the other ia a canon printer only.
Currently, the Canon is connected via USB, and working fine, and I can print from my laptop over my wireless network.
What would happen if I plug in the HP in another USB port, will it conflict ? or just switch back and forth depending on which printer I want to use, even over the wireless network.
Thanks

I have 3 connected, no problems whatsoever, you can hook up as many as you would like.

  • Connecting two printers wirelessly to Airport network?

    Hi,
I currently have a working wireless network with the Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router BEFW11S4 - which I believe is 802.11b - that connects 2-4 laptops at any point in time.
I just purchased the new Airport Extreme 54 mbp Base Station. I would like to
    1. Set up the Airport network.
    2. Put our two printers on the network and print wirelessly.
The printers are on are far away (1st floor) from the cable internet access point (2nd floor) so USB connection is not an option.
    I have two questions:
    1. Would it be better/simpler to purchase a print server to connect to my Airport network and make the two printers available for wireless printing?
    2. Is it possible to connect ("bridge") the two wireless routers and then place one router close to the printers and connect via USB. If yes, should the configuration be Airport to Linksys or Linksys to Airport?
If there are any more simple/smart solutions than the options I came up with - they will be much appreciated. Thanks for reading this long question!

Complex question that I don't think I can answer all of...
Airport Extreme Base Station - can connect only one USB printer - no hub permitted.
Print Servers (other than Extreme/Express) - work great for postscript printers, but are problematic with non-postscript printers. Printing to print servers uses "standard" protocols. In OS X, the "standard" protocols are provided by CUPS, so they need cups-capable drivers on OS X. Brother is the Only non-postscript printer manufacturer so far to provide CUPS drivers. Many non-postscript printers can be made to work with third-party drivers (Gimp-Print is one of these), but most people are unsatisfied with print quality (if you want to print photos for example).
I think wireless bridging will work with the Airport BS in the "receiving side" only -- but I haven't tried that.
For more help on the printers/network printing, need to know the printer models.
    Hope this gets you started.

  • Sharing Apps - Two Iphones, one imac, two user accounts, one itunes account

I've had an iphone for a long time and now my wife recently bought one. We have one imac in the house and we each have our own user accounts (ie we switch back and forth to our own sides). My itunes library and iphoto library are stored on an external hard drive. I have authorized my itunes account on my wife's side and have enabled home sharing. I want to be able to sync my iphone on my side and have my wife sync her's on her side. I also want my wife to be able to sync some of the apps that I have purchased over the years. When I sync my wife's phone on her side she has access to all the photos but can't see any of the apps. What do I need to do in order to give her access to the apps?
    Thank you in advance

Hi, I am glad I found exactly the same question that I wanted to ask.
I am going through the same thing right now:
    two iphones4,
    single mac mini,
    two accounts.
Many many apps on my account only.
She wants to sync my applications to her iphone on her user account side, but they are not in her itunes library.
I thought I needed the family pack for that, but it seems that I've just wasted my money, as the apps sharing is not included in the family pack. Could anybody please answer do I understand this correctly or not?

  • Share calendar on two Ipads (one Imac with two users)

    Hi community,
I'm looking for some help and where to look for if not here. Let me quickly describe my setup at home and what I try to achieve.
My partner and I have both their own iPad and iPhone. There is one iMac where we live. We are using it together but each of us has it's own user account on it and therefore it's own Itunes library. Both of us are using the iCal calendar on the iMac which we sync with our iPad and iPhone.
So there is one iMac with two users on it. Each user syncs his iCal with his iPad and his iPhone. What we would like to achieve though is that we can cross-share our iCal calendar. So that my partner can see my calendar items on her iPad and iPhone and vice versa.
We do not have a google mail (calendar) account nor are we using iCloud.
Every help is very much appreciated.

    Dear Dah,
I now have two iPads, which I also (need to) have separate AppleID's for. I understand I can share apps between them if I authorize iTunes on my iMac with both ID's, but I am not quite sure about the correct way to do that. I already have the iMac authorized for AppleID#1. If I go into iTunes and click on Store/Authorize this Computer... and enter my AppleID#2 information into Account name and Password boxes, does this authorize my iMac's iTunes for BOTH ID's or does it just change the authorization from ID#1 to ID#2?
If the former is correct, I understand the way to proceed is to xync up both iPads to iTunes and then I can drag and drop apps from one iPad's library listings to the other, right?
If this is not the correct way to get dual authorizations, what is?
    Thanks!

  • Two iPhones, One iMac - Sync Question

I am about to have a household with two iPhones (me and my wife) but just one iMac. On my Mac I don't have separate accounts set up. We both use the same account. She rarely gets on it so I didn't see a need to create another account for her.
So is it possible to have separate calendars and address book for both phones, under just one account? Or do I have to create a separate account for my wife in order to do this? I would rather not if at all possible.
    Thanks.

You can do this with one computer login account.
You can create an Address Book Group for your wife's contacts, which she can select only via her iPhone sync preferences for syncing with her iPhone, but your wife's contacts will be available in your Address Book. If you sync all contact information and all Address Book Groups available in your Address Book for your iPhone sync preferences, you will have your wife's contacts on your iPhone as well as your contacts. You can do the same - create an Address Book Group for your contacts only, and then sync this Group only with your iPhone.
The same applies to iCal calendars. There is an option to sync select calendars, or all calendars.

  • Two monitors, one iMac, mirroring problem

Here is the background: I want to stay healthy. All this sitting is killing me (and us).
So I attached a 23 inch Apple Cinema HD Display to my 16 GB memory (max) 27 inch iMac Intel Core i5 using a little adaptor. I have one screen up on a tall desk (so I can stand) and one on a lower desk (so I can sit) - this makes no difference to the problem here but, I want to give you a reason why I am asking a question. I use a wired Apple keyboard with the iMac and wireless with the Cinema HD. It all works great. Except for one problem.
I need to mirror the two (not mirroring would not make sense or work as it is essentially just two monitors in different user spots plus 2-3 feet apart on different levels + the menus and windows only stay on one screen for non mirroring - a pain). I only need one screen at a time.
When I mirror, the Cinema HD looks fine but the iMac shrinks down in size. When I choose the 2560 x 1440 iMac size, the iMac just goes back to the smaller 1920 x 1200 and says “Usable resolution 1920 x 1200”.
What is going on and, is there a fix I can employ to regain the lost screen real estate on the iMac screen? The 1920 x 1200 does not look as good on the iMac and the dock icons shrink to be unusable too.

  • Can I (and if so, how would I) connect two encoders (one linear and one angular) to the same chassis (NI 9401) and get their respective NI MAX tasks to run as simultaneously as possible?

Sorry, but I am still rather new to LabVIEW and NI MAX. I connected both devices (a linear probe and an angular encoder) to my NI 9401 chassis. I figured out how to create tasks for each and get continous samples readings from each. When trying to run both in LabVIEW, I get the error saying that I cannot run multiple tasks at once. It suggests the Control Task VI, but I did not see any help in that. Any advice?
Here is some general information, whatever it is worth: Both encoders are operating off of the same clock source, PFI4, which to my knowledge corresponds to CTR 1 A, where the angular encoder's A signal is wired in. The linear's physical channel is ctr0 and the angular's is ctr1.
Thank you very much for taking the time to look at this and help me out!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So if I go the Edge Counter route, is there any way for the task to figure out direction of the encoders? It looks like my options are always counting up or always counting down whenever the encoder is read... For my application, I need it to read when the linear encoder goes in and when it goes out... Am I doing something incorrectly with it?
I am using a probe to measure the contour of a part, and using a motor to spin the part, with one encoder measuring the angle of the motor and the other measuring the displacement of the probe.
Also I am still not seeing a way to simultaneously read both devices in NI MAX... I cannot use two counter inputs from the same device at once in the same task it seems.

  • Two Accounts, one iMac, one iTunes Library

I'm sure this should be easy, but it's beating me !
I've recently bought a new iMac and am giving my old iMac G4 to my son. I've now set up two accounts on the old system, the orginal one for me as an administrator, and a new one for him. However, the iTunes and iPhoto libraries are still under my account.
I simply want to allow iTunes and iPhoto on his account to see the same libraries.
When in his account, I've tried changing the music folder location in preferences to look at HD/users/myaccount, but everything has a red minus symbol next to it, so is unaccessible.
I've tried clicking on all the shared options I can, but to no avail.
    What am I missing ?
    Thanks

Is there a way to do this without having to add the songs multiple times anytime someone changes their library?
Sorry but no, not really. iTunes has no "folder watching" feature; you have to manually add tracks that get added directly to a folder. You might take a look through Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes; there might be a script there that would make the process easier, if only by identifying tracks that are in the folder but not in your iTunes listing.

  • Trying to connect two WRT54GS one has gateway and the other as router... HELP!

Long story short i have 2 WRE54G v2 and still dont get the signal i want. My last ditch effort is picking up a WRT54GS v6 last friday with high gain dB antena to act as an extender. My current WRT54GS is v1 with high gain dB antena. Can i get these routers to talk to one another wirelessly?
    Help!!!
    Idleloud

Mort is right.  They can not connect together with the linksys firmware.  Some third party firmware does allow that but third party firmware will void any warranty and you will not get any support from linksys.  I recommend adding a access point to increase the range from your WRT54GS.

  • Two iphones, one imac and syncing questions

Me and my wife each have an iphone. Want to set up a mobileme family pack, to give her a unique email address, i have my own email address. can I then simply connect both phones to the imac, and let them sync independent of each other?
    Any other issues? Thanks!!
    Jeff

    Yes.
You can sync as many as you like to the same computer. Each is different and can bet set up however you like.

So I made a new one.
But this new one can not play the music nor see the pictures.. (I know, different subject...)
