Connecting .unx universe in Crystal 2013

Hi,
following up by this thread I would like to ask if any improvements have been done in Crystal 2013?
We are on BO 4.1 and would like to use Crystal 2013 for the reporting.
Still we cannot access and connect .unx universe in this version. Shall we expect the solution of the this issue in one of the releases of SPs?

The "Crystal 2013" parts of BO are all still 32-bit. Since .unx universes use 64-bit connections, they can't be used in Crystal 2013. SAP has Crystal for Enterprise that will connect to .unx universes.
I've had some issues with some formatting options not being available in CR4E, but I've been able to get around them by creating my report in CR4E and placing all of the fields that I need on the report. I then open the report in Crystal 2013, do the formatting, save it, and then open it back up in CR4E to save it to BO. This is not "officially" supported, but it seems to work.

Symptom
When attempting to create a connection to a universe in Crystal Reports, after clicking OK in the Database Expert Query Panel, the following error message appears: "Logon failed".
The query is not generated. In the Universe folder of Database Expert, the following message appears: "u2026no items found".
I'm running BOE XI and Crystal Report XI R2 with MS SQL Server 2005 using ODBC.
The resolution psoted in the KBase Article ID:344488 does not resolve the issue in my case. Does anyone have any ideas on what to look at next?

I'll describe the process flow when Crystal Report reports off of a Universe, in hopes the info will help narrow down your issue.
When you create a Crystal Report and open an Universe, it connects to the Enterprise system and uses a Report Server on Enterprise to generate the SQL Statement. After you create the Query in the Query Panel, and add the Query to the report, the SQL Statement is sent to the Crystal Report Designer.
The Crystal Report Designer makes a local connection to the database and sends the SQL Statement to retrieve data.
You're using ODBC connectivity. If the defined ODBC isn't identical between the server where the Report Server is running, and the client where the Crystal Report Designer is running, then you'd get the Logon failed error.
Other than checking the drivers, I'd recommend that the ODBC connection on both server and client point to the same database, and allow use of the same database logon credentials.

Connecting to Universe from Crystal Report XI

Hello all,
I am trying to connect to a Universe from my Crystal Report. I get an error "Service CDZHome not found" when I try to select the Universe datasource.
I read elsewhere that I will need Crystal 2008 for this. I tried this with a trial version of 2008 and it does work fine.
I came across the link below which indicates that it should work for Crystal XI also. Though there are some limitations.

We are not ready to move to Crystal 2008 yet. So I need to make it work with Crystal XI. And as per the documentation I should be able to. Any help or pointers will be much appreciated.

2. BOE Server version - SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 (Product: 12.1.0 © 2008 Business Objects)
3. Tried with Sample universes (eFashion, Activity etc). Also tried with a universe based on SQLServer database. All of these work with Crystal 2008 Designer.
4. Thru' the BOE explorer window in the Designer
5. Its happening to all universes
6. Unfortunately I don't have BOE installed on any other box. I am currently evaluating BOE for our organization.

Unable to connect to Universe from Crystal

i am designing a Crystal report which uses Universe as data source, after i select the Universe on the server, i got an error message "Service CDZHome not found on server COM24. WebIntelligenceProcessingServer."

Issues connecting to universe in Crystal

Hi,
I go into crystal and select universe as my datasource. I get a prompt to login into the enterprise server XI 3.1 and then I select the universe and get the following error:
All the servers with CMS XYZ:6400 cluster XYZ:6400, kind webiserver which hosts CDZHome, are down or disabled.
I have checked Servers in CMC and two failed to start:
WebIntelligenceProcessingServer
ReportApplicationServer
I have tried to re-start them but they remain failed. The message "This server is considered failed because it has stopped 5 time(s) in 60 minute(s)." is shown.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.

What kind of license key do you use? Is this a temp key? Has it expired?
Do you have any service packs and/or fix packs installed? Which OS does your BO server run on?
Have you tried creating a new Webi processign server in the CMC (Under Server)?
Even if you just use crystal the webI processing server is involved when you are accessing a universe.

BO4 - Changing name of existing connection on repository and impact on existing unx universes

Hi,
If we have universes (unx ) which have connections and want to rename the connection, I know we can change the name of the connection on the repository via the repository resources in the Information Design Tool.
I notice existing universes which use the connection still have the old name for their connection shortcut.
Is there a way to synchronise so that if change a name of universe connection the names of connection shortcust on existing universe connections are automticallly chnaged to reflect the new name?

Changing name of existing connection not impact on existing unx universe, if backed connection CUID not changes, I think you can rename the existing connection in CMC .
Before doing test with sample example.

CDZHome Error when trying to connect universe from Crystal Reports XI R2

I am getting the below error message when I am trying to connect a universe from Cyrstal Reports.
CDZHome not found on server, IRAPPS437.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer
I am using below versions:
Universe - Business Objects XI 3.0 Enterprise Edition
Crystal Reports - Cyrstal Reports XI R2 SP4.
If you notice the error is related to Web Intelligence when I am not doing anything related to Web Intelligence. So I suspect that Cyrstal Reports XI R2 is not compatible with BO XI 3.1 or Vice Verse.
Any input on this is appreciated.

Hello All, I am working on BO version migration. Presently we have BO XI 3.1 in which we have Java process through which we gets connected to BO server and generates an report.
as we need to move to migrate BO version to SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4, we need to accomodate connecting to new BO server. In addition to checklists provided by Josh; I would suggest you to perform a repository scan of the system to identify whether any objects were not installed properly and there might be a possible corruption. Use the link mentioned below to perform repository scanning.

You can try to repair the install. Also as this is a new install you can directly go for re-installing the software.
PS: Try to re-download the software from the service market place rather than copying the installer from existing one.

Query as a Web Service can't see .unx universes to use as data source?

I created a Universe using Information Designer. The Universe is published on the server as *.unx.
With Query as a Web Service Designer, I connect to the server to create a query. However, in "Choose a universe as a data source for the query", I do not see the *.unx Universes, I only see *.unv Universes.
Both software are the latest version (XI 4.0).
Anyone know what is the issue here?

RESTful Webservices for UNX Universe

Dear Experts,
Is Restful available for Changing connections for a UNX Universe (both single and multi source, more interested in multi source).
Environment details:
BI 4.0 SP601
MS SQL Server 2008, Oracle 11g
Scenarios:
1. For a multi-source universe, with MS SQL Server, when we switch connections within an environment or between environments, we have to change the owner name manually. Please refer to the ideaplace in the following link:

SAP confirmed that this is by design and we have to do all the manual work of changing the owner names, if there are any aliases, derived tables, custom SQL LOVs, etc. etc.
So we wanted see if there is an automated way of doing that.
2. Normally in some scenarios when we migrate universe, on the destination system, the migrated universe will have to be imported, and the connections are changed, and then exported back to the repository.

Updating a Universe Connection for Single/Multi source is possible using the Semantic Layer Java SDKs.
You would not be able to achieve the same using the Semantic Restfull webservices SDKs.

You could see the UNV universe in the QAAWS and not the .UNX.
Are you planning to use the QAAWS in Xcelsius? If yes, Dashboard Design 4.0(Xcelsius) has new feature" Query Panel" which enables you to connect to .UNX universe directly into Xcelsius.

WebI Report causing WIS 30270 error on UNX universe

Hi All,
Need some expertise on a really weird error I am facing. I have a dashboard designed on a UNX universe, and a connecting URL that opens a WebI report that is also designed on the same universe. The dashboard is working fine for all the users but when the users open the WebI report, they face the WIS 30270 error which has a bunch of discussions but nothing related to the weirdness I have here.
As an administrator, I don't see the issue at all. Some general users have the issues but intermittently though. So I believe the servers are not the cause. Then I investigated access levels but users within the same user group have seen the error while others haven't encountered it at all.
The WebI reports that have been designed on BEx queries are all working fine with no issues. Please advise and help me figuring out the issue and resolving it.

Universe designed on SQL Server

I had a simular problem once, universe worked on Explorer, Dashboards but not on the WebI side.
The problem was, I used the "MOVE" option inside CMC, and moved the universe to a diferent folder. And for some reason something inside the universe still pointed to the old location, and only webi was not able to find it, I mean, it was able to find it, but not apply the correct permisions, and it would fail when I tried to refresh the report.
Can you create a new universe and test?
Or open the current one and save it with a differente name on another folder?
If that isn't it, are you using SSO on that universe?

Service Now ODBC connection in Universe

We're using "Service Now" product.
We installed their propriety ODBC and able to connect in Universe Designer (BOXI3.1 SP5.3).
We see table structure, but no data is retrieved.
Crystal reports is working perfectly with this ODBC.
We know it is not supported with BO product line, but really like to make this work...
Did anyone used this ODBC before with Designer / WebI?
Can SBO or PRM file change do the trick?

well...i think you wont get any help here as this is, as already pointed out by you, not supported.
I resume you use the generic ODBC Driver in the Designer? Maybe you want to try the generic JDBC Driver? If this "Service Now" Product has a JDBC Interface?!

Data Federator connection from universe - commProtocol EBUS error

I am working with a prospect that is attempting to get a universe to communicate with DataFederator via JDBC. We modified the jdbc.sbo file and added the line
<Paramter Name="URL format">jdbc:datafederator://$DATASOURCE$;catalog'&quot';$DATABASE$'&quot';;commProtocol=EBUS</Parameter>
(single quotes were added above to preserver contents in quote marks, they are not really in the file)
along with the appropriate classpaths, per the XI3 datafederator release notes. However when the customer tries to connect via the connection manager in the universe the following error is thrown:
[Data Federator Driver] Invalid identifier for site wrapper in parameter 'commProtocol'. Reason: EBUS
Has anybody seen an error like this, and have any suggestion on how to correct it?

Can you tell me which version of Data Federator and BOE you are using?
It looks like you tried to configure Data Federator JDBC driver with a commProtocol that is not supported by this version of DF.
Are you using Data Federator XI 3.0 SP1 (12.1.0.0) or later version?
You can check the version of the Data Federator JDBC driver you are using by clicking "Test Connection" in Universe Designer. You will see the driver and database (DF) versions.
Make sure you are using the 12.1.0.0 version or later for both driver and server.
