Connecting USB cable to new iPad

Is there a way of connecting a USB cable to my new iPad? I have a device that I want to connect to it but it is only supplied with a USB cable.

I don't find this question too clear, but I'll try to answer anyway.
" ... my new iPad?"  I wonder if that means the latest model iPad, commonly called the iPad 4.  If so, it has a lightning port on the bottom.
" ... but it is only supplied with a USB cable."  What does "it" refer to ... is it the device you're trying to connect to, or is it the iPad?
Anyway, your iPad comes with a cable that goes from its bottom port (presumably the lightning port, but maybe a 30 pin port if you're really talking about an older model) to USB.
So the bottom line is you have a cable with your iPad that connects to USB.  The cable came with your iPad.

    Wiped our old iPad 1 clean, now can't install iOS from iTunes using laptop PC (W Vista).  iTunes does not "see" the device.  Tried uninstalling and installing iTunes on laptop.  Also bought new USB cable.  The iPad is charging, but that's all it does.  Just want to get it operating again for browsing and e-reading.

    OK.  You merely erased the content and settings.  The IOS is still there.
    If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures.  From what you've already stated, my guess is that you'll end up with Recovery Mode described in the last paragraph.
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

    BOB we need you urgently
    Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
    You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
    All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
    Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
    Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
    All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
    Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
    I want to test 2 other things:
    1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
    2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

  • Why am i seeing athe itunes logo and a usb cable on my ipad screen

    why am i seeing the itunes logo and a usb cable on my ipad 2 screen

    It means that you need to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes (recovery mode), and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it

  • Nokia N8 - Connect USB cable to device

    My new nokia N8 is constantly coming up with the message "connect usb cable to device".
    I'll click ok and 2 minutes later it will reappear.
    When i connect it to a usb, it disappears but will then reappear when i unplug. I've tried updating software but none is available, and there is no programs running on the phone.
    When i turn off and on i still get the same problem.
    Anyone know of a solution before i throw it against the wall?

    Have you tried the trick  you can find from the phone's
    manual; long press the on/off button (for 8-10 sec) until the
    phone vibrates three times? With this, you don't lose any
    of your information.
    -vvaino
    That's barely a trick
    it just kills the power to the phone and is esentialy the same as using the on off switch
    anyway as to the OP don't know
    you could try resseting the device  type *#7370# into the dialer,
    this will restore the phone to an out of box stateand you will loose all of your settings
    see if that helps

  • Are the usb cables for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s interchangeable?

    Can I use my usb cable provided by my ipad 2 to connect my iPhone 4s to my iMac or vice versa. I noticed the usb cable for the iPad 2 is slightly thicker. Doesn't it mean it's better or faster in terms of transmission of data? Thank you.

    Identical cables.

    How do I get my old contacts that were last synced on my ITunes account through my laptop (USB) to my new iPad ? I no longer have a laptop just my iPad mini.

    So the contacts were synced to the computer you no longer have?  You could use a free app like MCBackup and email the contacts from the ipad to yourself and open the email on your  phone and then import the contacts from the email to the phone

  • Kernel Panic when I connect USB cable to use Rane Serato SL3

    Connect USB cable to use Rane Serato SL3 causes the following kernel panic. Used cable is an 5 meter USB-2 cable. This is 100% reproducable.
    Yes yes I know Rane does not officially support Mavericks yet however if I use another (shorter) USB-2 cable with the Rane Serato SL3 it's no problem. I also have an older Rane Serato SL1 and this device works (USB-1) perfect with the same 5 meter USB-2 cable and the same short USB-2 cable.
    I've taken the liberty to ask Rane what's going on and no succes there. They just don't seem to know.
    So you smart people over here, what's going on?

    Boot into safe mode (restart holding down SHIFT key). If no KP, then disable these, reenable one at time to determine which. If KP, then most likely hardware related. Run the Apple Hardware Test suite, extended tests at least twice, followed by Rember.  See

    IiPad is stuck in the iTunes connect screen.  I have held the home button down while plugging the iPad in and still nothing.  Hard reset isn't even doing anything.  It's not even showing up under my computer.  Please Help

    Did you get a message that the iPad is disabled?

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • HT4571 problem! connecting 3G network with new Ipad (verizon)
    device: new Ipad verizon, 16gb
    problem: I got the device from US and I never activate it's original Verizon sim card yet. I tried to use a 3G data sim card outside US.
                  the dvice get antenna and bring the carrier name on top corner also say 3G beside it.
                  but when I try to use safari for browsing the net, it says : " could not activate cellular data network"
                  how can i fix it?
                  my carrier says the sim card is activated and working (the 3G sim i mean not Verizon)
    any suggestion?
    Why are you using Windows print sharing with your nice network printer? This mode only supports printing, not scannning or faxing. The better way to do this is to attach the printer to your router with Ethernet or wirelessly so that all PCs (regardless of how they connect) can use all of it's features. Disconnect the USB cable and run the Wireless Setup Wizard (if you want to connect it wirelessly, otherwise, plug the Ethernet cable in to the printer and router) from the front of the printer (Setup >Network menu), then run the HP software to "Add a Device" on each PC.
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
  • Why won't a apple usb cable charge my ipad?
    So I left town for work and forgot my ipad charger. I've tried a generic once for ipods that didn't work and I also tried an offical apple usb cable direct to the computer and that didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions on why those don't work other than buying an ipad specific one?
    The USB ports on most computers are too low power-out to charge the ipads with them powered up. They will slowly charge the ipad with the ipad sleeping.
    It will say "not charging" when awake, but it may very slowly charge.
    The ipad supplied charger is 10 watts (5 Volts at 2 amps)
    The iphone/ipod chargers are typically 5 watts (5 volts at 1 amp)
    The typical computer's usb port is 2.5 watts (5 volts at 0.5 amps)
    Note: Some of the newer mac's have a higher powered usb port and will give a good charge indication on the ipad.
    Hope this helps...
  • Red light after connecting usb cable each time
    My ipod shuffle (4th gen) is weird and would not start. I know it's because someday I plugged out the usb cable right after I perform the sync task and forget to press the reject button first.
    Now the symtons is: It won't start / recharge, and it even doesn't show any light. Each time I connect it to the PC or AC adaptor, it will show RED light in about 5 seconds, and after few seconds there will be no light and it just dies.
    How can I fixed my poor faily new shuffle?
    Hey exkaede,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities! I'd go ahead and try restoring your iPod shuffle to factory settings, so the software will be restored to its original factory condition with updates:
  • Older  USB Cable vs. new
    So my ipod touch won't charge or sync if I use the old USB cable from previously bought iPods or chargers. Is this a problem with my iPod or are the new iPods not compatible with the older USB cables and chargers?
    My first iPod was a b/w iPod 4G. I still use the Firewire cable with AC adapter for charging my new iPod Touch. The USB cable is the same I used on that old iPod, that I use on the Touch. Unless you have cut the wire or have a broken port on either end of the wire, then the USB cable should work fine.
  • Connecting ipod classic to new iPad (4th generation)?
    Which adapter connects older ipod classic to new iPad (4th generation)?
    The "connection" for the iPod needs to go through iTunes on a computer.  You cannot connect your iPod directly to an iPad.
    So (for example), if your intent is to transfer songs from iPad to iPod, you need to use the copy of the songs that are on the computer and use iTunes to sync them to the iPod.  If you can't do that because you bought the songs on the iPad from the iTunes Store, you can use the Purchased screen in iTunes (on the computer) to re-download them (at no cost) into your iTunes library.  The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, to the right, under QUICK LINKS.
    You can then sync those songs to the iPod.
