Connecting via BT to Verizon V3M?

I have a shiny new Verizon Motorola V3M and I've succesfully paired with my MacBook (10.4.8) and very neatly synced Calendar and Address Book, so I'm generally a happy camper. However, after they are separated, they lose the connection and I have to get into the phone's Tools and use the Find Me command to connect again.
Am I missing something in preferences and setups, or is this "Just how it is"?
Thanks!

This topic has been raised many times. There is no solution other than to give your family members access to your primary email address and password.
As far as BT are concerned the use of BTWifi is for use by primary account holder only. The reason for this is accountability should BTWifi be misused.
If you choose to let somebody else use it then it is up to you but should they do something illegal or against the Terms and Conditions it will be you that has to answer for it.
It has been suggested many times that BT mail sub-accounts should be allowed to also use it but for what ever reason, BT have decided not to implement that.
If you don't want to give your password to anybody else you could use the BTWifi app on their mobile devices and enter your password onto that. The password is hidden and remembered so that when your family need to use it they don't need to enter the details.

  • Question regarding ONT connection via Ethernet and Cable cards

    Hi,
We recently upgraded to Fios Quation 150Mbps/65  plan. We are not getting the advertised speeds (we only get like 5mbps upload) so verizon is sending a tech to switch the ONT connection from coax to ethernet.
I have 2 questions regarding this new setup:
    1. If the ONT communicates with the Fios Actiontect router via ethernet instead of coax from now on, How will the set top boxes and Tivo-esque cable card powered device I currently have connected to coax, talk to the verizon system from now on, if coax is taken out of the equation? Will fios signal still flow through the internal coax wiring of the house? And moreover, I was under the impression that coax was the way set top boxes communicated and derived independent ip addresses from the Fios router, for on deman purposes and what not. How will this work from now on?
    Quiestion 2.
Right next to the wall where the ONT sits, theres's a basement office where we have a PC that connects to the Fios system  via an Actiontect MoCa adapter (ECB2500C) which I assume derives it internet connection from the Fios Actiontec router which sits upstairs in the living room.
Again, with the Coax about to be disabled next Friday in favor of ethernet connection from the ONT, I assume this PC will be left without internet because of the lack of internet signal in the coax? Is this correct?
Question 2.5 If my above assumption is correct, since this office is right on the other side of the wall where the ONT sits outside the house, would it be possible to run an ethernet wire through the wall that connects straight from the ONT to an ethernet switch inside the office, from which I would derive a connection for this basement PC (properly firewalled of course) and then, from said switch, continue running the ethernet wire that would ultimately reach the Actiontec Fios router upstairs from which the rest of the house derives it's internet?  and would this setup affect in any way the propper functioning of the cable boxes in the house?
I'd appreciate your input and any help you can provide so I can have a ballpark idea of what to tell the Fios guy to do when he comes on Friday.
    Cheers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's not valid to have two devices connected to the ONT, PC and VZ Router.  Must be a single device. The ONT locks onto the MAC Address of the first device it sees. Since you have TV you should have the VZ router as the internet facing router.
    Other options:
    1.  Have the VZ Router located next to the PC in the basement and then use Wireless for all other PC's.
    2.  Have the VZ Router located next to the PC in the basement but run one wire upstairs and connect a switch where other PCs and devices can connect via a wire.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't Connect Via Wired Ethernet Broadband Connection

Replaced a Westell 7500 with a DSL-N10 because of constant disconnects. The Westell had no problem connecting via the wired ethernet broadband connection which I switch to when I need to improve buffering for videos. The DSL-N10 won't connect and reports "Error 651 Modem reported a problem". I reconnected the Westell to determine if there was a problem but it connected to the wired connection immediately. Question is do I need to change or add a setting in the DSL-N10 to get a wired connection or is this something I need to conract Verizon support about?

  • WRT54GL connects via cable, but not wireless

I've got a WRT54GL that I connected via the ethernet cable, but when I try to connect wirelessly it can't. I've tried EasyLink Connect and EasyLink Advisor to try and fix the connection and "unwire" it, but neither were any help. I can setup my other machines to connect wirelessly, but not the main machine that I used to setup the router intitially.

    Hi TWallace,
Are you using cable connection (Comcast,Cox) or DSL connection (Verizon,Qwest)? Were you provided with a username and password by ISP. Since EasyLink Advisor and EasyLink Connect did not work. You would have to manually configure the router. Aside from that, make sure that when you ran either the 2 software (ELA or ELC) you do not have any firewall turned on. Firewall disrupts the connectivity of the device running the tool.
Aside from that, when wiring your computer to the router and you've mentioned it works. Can you try to check the IP address? If XP, click Start > RUN > cmd, once command prompt pops up.. type ipconfig /all then look for IP address.
    Thanks

  • Cannot connect via proxy server

I need to use a proxy server in order to access university resources from off-campus.  (This is set up in Firefox using Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings > Automatic proxy configuration URL.)  I have been doing this for two and a half years with no problems, but all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore.  I have made no recent changes to my computer (Windows XP laptop) or browser settings.  I get a connection has timed out / the server is taking too long to respond error message whenever I try to access a website via the university proxy server.  This is only an issue for websites that require the proxy, such as databases that the university library subscribed to.  I can access all public websites as usual.
I have tried Internet Explorer and get the same problem.  If I disable the proxy server then my connection does not time out, I just get redirected to the university's "you are off campus and need to enable a proxy server to connect to this resource" page.  University technical support tells me there is nothing wrong with the proxy server and that I am set up properly to use it, and that as far as they can tell the issue is probably with my ISP.
I am pretty sure this is indeed as Verizon issue, as I took my computer to a coffee shop and was able to access university resources via the proxy server just fine using the free wireless.  I also got out my old laptop, reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled the OS (Windows XP), and had the exact same problem trying to use the proxy server via my home Verizon connection.
Incidentally, I am also unable to log in to Second Life using my home Verizon connection.  I get an error message saying the server isn't responding.  Again, I had no trouble with this using the coffee shop wireless.
I have spent about three hours trying to get someone from Verizon to address this problem, but keep being told I need to talk to someone else.  I have now described this problem to ten different Verizon employees but have yet to reach anyone who even seems to know what a proxy server is, much less anyone who can help with this problem.  If anyone out there has any suggestions, I'd much appreciate it.  I cannot do much work from my apartment if I cannot access university resources.

That Trace suggests there is a firewall at play somewhere blocking ICMP Echo. Since it's timing out past the modem I do have reason to believe that the modem may be up to something. Visit http://192.168.1.1/ and check the Firewall settings. If it's set to Low or High, disable it. If you are prompted for a User/Pass, try the following:
    admin/password
    admin/password1
    admin/admin
    admin/admin1

  • I'm trying to download photos off my old LG phone into iPhoto but it won't connect via Bluetooth

I'm trying to download photos off my old LG EV3 via Bluetooth into iPhoto.  It shows that the device is paired to my MacBook, however,  when I try to connect the phone it shows that it's connected for only a few seconds but then quickly disconnects and the phone says "No Services Found."  I also tried to change the connection for this phone (it's currently set-up as a Dial-Up modem connection via Verizon but the phone is no longer connected to Verizon) but it apparently will not let me do that.  Any ideas?

COntact LG support for support on their phone - this does not involve iPhoto for the Mac in any way

  • Jetpack 5510l has no wifi signal - can only connect via usb to get Internet.

Bought this device on a Thursday and it worked flawlessly - until Saturday.  The device has had a consistent connection to Verizon, but on Saturday the wifi began to 'go out.'  The device showed everything was working, but the wifi radio seems to have just turned off (after intermittently failing for a period of a couple hours).  We tried several different devices, none showed a working wifi signal coming from the mifi by the end of the day.
What we have done so far:
    Rebooted.
Removed battery (after shutting down), restarted.
    Used hard-reset button.
Used web intefrace to turn wifi on and off - and on, changed ssid, passphrase, reset again (after each phase we also gave it an hour to see if the signal would return).
Nothing has gotten the wifi from the device back online - it's as if either the radio or wifi antenna is completely broken.  We attempt to connect using 3 or 4 different devices - so it is most certainly the mifi.  There are no errors from the device - is there a debug / test mode?
Our current workaround is to connect via usb to a Macbook and just share the internet connection - which works great, but makes travel a bit more difficult if a computer has to be connected to allow us to have a wifi signal (not from the mifi).
    Regards.

Taking the Jetpack apart is going to void your warranty.  I would not suggest going down that road until your warranty is up.  Instead give VZW a call and have them ship you a replacement under the warranty service agreement. You have done a perfect job of isolating the problem to a wifi radio issue.  Its easy to recreate and confirm which will make the phone call fairly quick.  Unless you got sold on some kind of Best Buy warranty and prefer to go through them, VZW is going to be your best bet at getting a speedy replacement.

  • Connecting ATV Ethernet thru Verizon cable box ethernet?

We just moved into our house this past weekend. The previous owners had the place wired for ethernet in all places except in the built-in cabinets that form the main entertainment area (component cables rather than HDMI as well!). We are going to work on that.
One of the things I really wanted to do was connect the Apple TV via ethernet. Without a dedicated ethernet line I guess I'm looking for a work-around. We have a Verizon cable box that has an ethernet port. For grins I connected the ATV to the verizon box. Under the ATV, it shows that the ATV is connected with numbers, etc. But, when I try to do anything online nothing seems to work. I tried to connect to Itunes and that did not work.
Is what I'm trying to do even possible? If so, do I need to do something so that the devices are communicating over the wired network? I've never owned a wired home before so just figuring this out.
    Thanks.

    Capaho,
Thanks for the response. I'm a little confused.
I have the Verizon router that they have put in the basement where all of the wiring comes together. This is distributing the wireless signal but I prefer to have it connected via ethernet.
I also have my time capsule/router but I've left that unplugged until I sort out this new home network.
The ATV is in the den connected to the A/V receiver with the rest of the components. No internet jack in the cabinet.
The ATV can communicate wirelessly to itunes to retrieve data stored on itunes. What I wanted to do was buy a separate hard drive, put all the media on it, and point the ATV to that device over the wired network.
By turning on "internet sharing" is that better than just connecting ATV to the imac wirelessly now?
Sorry for the questions but I'm a newbie to the wired house and trying to figure it all out.

  • Problem connecting to wifi from Verizon DSL router

I recently had "upgraded" to the newer Verizon Westell router (7500, I think).  Well, I have setup the wireless to be able to connect a smart phone.  Unfortunately, that smart phone is on AT&T (Samsung Infuse 4G).  I was hoping to be cheap and use my DSL from Verizon to connect via wifi.  It worked at first, prior to securing the wifi.  I can connect through the wifi, but I am immediately transferred to a secure Verizon website trying to get me to "activate" my account.  It will not let me go anyway, but to that site.  Am I missing something?  I am locked out of my wifi since I have a competitors cellular account?  Any help would be great.

Simply applying security to your router will not cause the "walled garden" message your getting about activating account. Has your Verizon account ever been suspended before? If so, you will need to clear temp browsing data on your phone. Also make sure you are connecting to your network and that it didn't hop on a neighbbors unlocked network. Phones can be configured to automatically connect to an unsecured network and that customers service might be suspended. If you run into further problems please send a private message.

  • Connecting from WRT54GL to Verizon MIFI2200 wireless hotspot

I have my WRT54GL connected to my desktop and I have been using satellite internet. I can connect via wireless from my laptop. I now want to get rid of the satellite and use a Verizon MIFI2200 wireless hotspot. So, I want to connect wireless from my desktop to the MIFI2200. I do not seem to have anything on my desktop which will allow me to see wireless networks. The MIFI2200 is working because I can connect from my laptop. The desktop with the WRT54GL is also working, because I can connect to it from my laptop. What do I need to run on the desktop to see available wireless networks? I don't seem to have anything available like Linksys Wireless Manager.
    Thanks!

You need a wireless adapter for your desktop to connect to wireless networks.

  • Facetime "Fails" to connect via Airport Extreme using Comcast?

    Greetings,
First time poster... tried researchings specifics on my situation and couldn't find anything so posting here to see if a solution has been found.
I used to have Verizon DSL for ISP with Airport Extreme as my wireless router.  Everything worked  including Facetime (only issue was the need for speed).  Switched to Comcast as ISP which uses cable and had the Tech reconnect it to the Airport Extreme to behave as the wireless router.  Internet is on and good... got a green light on the Airport Extreme.  However, when attempting to connect via any device using Facetime (it will ring but as soon as it is answered I get "Fail" message and it ends) be it my laptop, desktop or either of our iphones I have IOS7 and IOS6 respectively same error.  Did not make any modifications to Airport settings or any of my devices.
When checking the common response to this issue was a potential "Blocked Port" situation... but by digging a little deeper it appears that Comcast does not block ports that are relevant to Facetime (please confirm).  I didn't see anything else that would suggest a solution at this point.
Help would be greatly appreciated as we enjoy using facetime to have our 6 month old daughter connect to our grandparents.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

The USB port on an AirPort Base Station other than the 802.11n model is only for use with an USB printer; hard and flash drives will not be recognized. The compatible base stations include version 5.0 of the AirPort software on a CD.

  • Powerbook G4 can't connect via ethernet but connects via airport

We have a small office network connected to an Efficient Networks DSL router that's managed by our isp. The router has 4 ports and a linksys 8 port switch is connected to one of those ports. Another D-Link wireless router/switch is connected to another port.
2 i-macs connect without problem via ethernet cable. They are set to DHCP and get 192.xx private addresses. Both run 10.4.5. Another older imac running 9.2.2. also has no problems.
I recently purchased a powerbook G4 and it will not connect via ethernet to the Efficient networks router. At first it was connected to the linksys, so decided to connect it direct to the Efficient Networks router. With DHCP, it acquires a 169. internet address which is self generated (i.e. no real connection). I tried to give it a static private address (talking to the isp provider). They could see the powerbook but saw all zero's (presumable mac address). By the way the Powerbook works perfectly at home connected via ethernet cable to a D-Link router connected to a cable modem so it's not a physical problem. I even checked the ethernet cable I used in the office with another computer - no problem.
When I switch to airport in the office, the powerbook connects to the network and the internet. I get some strange warning messages showing the server's and the router's private ip addresses. I click ok, and the powerbook finds an unassigned private ip address. It's the only way it will work, but it causes problems, because I can't connect to one of the network printers. Speed also isn't great.
Can anyone give me advise how to proceed. I am no expert on this stuff so keep it as simple as possible.
    Tks

    Tim,
Thanks for your help. Here's what I've done before reading your e-mail. The D-Link DI-524 wireless router is connected to the Effiicent Neworks DSL router as you mentioned. One ethernet port of the EFF.Net. router is connected to the WAN port of the DI-514.
Because I have a D-Link router at home which works flawlessly with my powerbook, I decided to connect the ethernet cable of the powerbook to the D-Link which has 4 ethernet ports. Lo and behold, the powerbook acquired a private ip address and connected to the LAN and internet!
When I connected the powerbook direct to the Efficient Networks router, it could not communicate. I believe that there must be some software incompatibility between the powerbook and the Efficient Networks router. By connecting to the D-Link, the D-Link assigned an ip address to the powerbook, and it could connect to the server, lan, etc..
Only problem is that I have a Brother network printer that cannot connect to the powerbook. My powerbook cannot find it on the network. Because there is a linksys switch connected to the efficient networks router's third ethernet port, maybe as you said, going through the D-Link via DHCP (when the Linksys is also acting as a DHCP server, might cause this type of problem. What do you think?
As a final note, other imac G5's connected to the linksys switch (which then connects to the Efficient Network's router) have no problem connecting to the lan or internet and have no problem connecting to any of the printers. When I put the powerbook on that switch, I could not connect to the internet - i.e. whether connecting via the lynksys switch or direct with the efficient networks router - same results: no internet connection whether manually or via DHCP.
So the imac G5 has no problem with the efficient networks router but the powerbook G4 hits a brick wall. The G4 likes the D-Link router. I am concerned (and I will have to check this) that if I turn off the dhcp server feature from the D-Link, that whatever software issue crops up between the powerbook and the Efficient Networks router, will rise up again, because the D-Link will act like a simple switch (just like my linksys switch), and we'll be back to square zero. In any case, no harm in trying. This may be the cause of the Powerbook not seeing that Brother printer (even though it sees another printer and other macs).
Having spent hours reading about network problems, I think it's safe to say that macs have problems with certain routers. Why a G5 works and a powerbook G4 doesn't is beyond me, but clearly software must play a role.

  • When iPhone 5s is connected via USB no audio is heard

    Hi There -
I've seen older threads on this issue but I don't think I've really come across any solutions. My issue started yesterday; now before reading further I have to ask that you please keep in mind that I did perform the latest upgrade on my iPhone a bit earlier in the day.
When I connect my iPhone to my vehicle sync system and announce that I'd like to connect via USB, the voice recognition repeats my request and then the music on my iPhone shows to be playing on the display in my vehicle. The problem is that though the music appears to be playing and the minutes played are being displayed there is no audio coming through. When I switch to the Bluetooth Audio option all sound comes through.
Now, as a 2nd test, we connected my sons iPhone 5s via USB (he has not taken the latest update on his iPhone) and the same issue happens with his. Voice recognition changes to the USB format as requested, music appears to be playing but no audio is heard. When we change his phone to Bluetooth Audio the audio comes through nice and clear.
I'm not entirely convinced the update caused the issue so I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has run into this and were able to actually resolve the issue.
I know the USB cable is working fine because when I do plug it into either phone the phone makes the little connection sound and pops up a brief battery percentage box. I also know the cable is working because when we announce USB as our audio of choice the system recognize USB via the iPhone.
One other thing I tried looking for was the option on the phone to switch from Docked to Synch - I know on my iPhone 4 I was able to switch back and forth through iTunes and would also have the option if I tried to watch anything via You Tube when connected to the dock; I cannot find this anywhere on the 5s when connected via USB.
    Help is greatly appreciated!!!

I have had similar troubles with wifi.. some improvement removing BlackBerry desktop software & drivers & reinstalling after reboot... I used the same installer I had previously, but a fresh downloaded installer couldn't hurt...

  • The iTune Remote App has stopped finding my iTunes library when connected to wifi from my main router, but works fine when connected via second wifi router on the same network (different SSID)

I'm running iTunes Remote App from a couple of iPhone 5's and a first generation iPod Touch. iTunes is running on a PC - Windows 7. My home network runs two Wifi Routers, each with a different SSID. I've had no problems with the Remote app running this set up for the last 8 months but recently the App can only find my iTunes library when the iPhone/iPod is connected via one specific router, when connected to the network via the other router, no iTunes library is found. I'm also running an Apple TV and it's the same as the iTunes Library, only visible via the one SSID.
Everything else seems to work fine when connected via either router, eg Internet on the iPhones (definitely via wifi)
I've tried renewing the lease on the iPhone wifi connection, restarting everything.....several times.....
It used to work fine, this only seems to have been a problem in recent weeks
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Ian

It turned out to be the firewall settings on our router. Her machine was sending traffic that our router interpreted as a DoS attack and blacklisted her Airport's MAC address. That's why it would work fine if she switched to Ethernet.
