Connecting via wireless & blue square?

hello
I'm connecting to the www via my router and when it's not possible to connect I seem to be connecting via a blue square on the toolbar ,anyway what is this and can it be switched off because I only want to connect via wireless router or hotspot
Thanks

Hey macbookair,
The Blue square means GPRS: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306795
Try the Wi-Fi tips listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398?viewlocale=en_US
Forgetting the network or resetting network settings will probably take care of it.
If the iPhone still cannot join the Wi-Fi network give us a little more information about the specific wireless router you are connecting to and the security being used. Also Include the number of characters in the network password.

  • Unable to connect via wireless, printer is online.

I am using a Photosmart plus 209a via wireless.  There are 3 notebooks connected. 2 will print but my Dell Studio (Win 7 Pro) will not. It was previously connected but now unable to connect.  I have uninstalled all components using level 3 twice. Have used the Print/Scan tool.  Downloaded the full SW package and the Basic driver SW. I process a job and it gets to the spooler and then "print job failed".  I can view the control panel via IP address. I can view network settings and print wireless test page through HP Solution Center.  Why am I unable to connect?  I was able to use via USB but this is not an option.

It sounds like there is something different on the Dell Studio since it works from two other computers on the same network as the Dell Studio.  It also sounds like you are able to access the EWS of the printer by using its IP address.
Are there any other errors messages regarding the printer?  If so, what are they?
Is there a third party firewall installed (e.g. Norton, Kasperksy, BitDefender, etc.)?
Is this Windows 7 Professional 32bit or 64bit?

  • Can't connect via wireless wrt160n ver 1

I am using a wrt160n version 1 with the latest firmware. The internet is via cable modem which works fine and the computer i am writing this message with is connected to the router via ethernet. The problem comes when i try to connect another PC (mine, this is my mum's) via wireless. I am using windows 7 and it says after 2-3 seconds Windows cannot connect to the wireless network. The signal strength is showing excellent with all bars full (and i have checked this by moving the router to within 10 cm of the wireless aerial of the computer that fails to connect and nothing changes). Occasionally it will connect, but the speed is awful and it wont reconnect when windows is restarted. I don't know why it connects occasionally. When i say occasionally i mean after 100 or so attempts, but this is no guarentee. I have tried multiple aerials including one with an insulated cord, so you can put the aerial far away from your computer, so i don't think theres a problem with interference.
    I have tried:
resetting and reprogramming the router, including factory reset
    re-aplying the latest firmware
deleting the connection profile in windows
resetting my computer and the network adapter (my wireless card)
    3 other network cards
moving my computer, the router, the aerial
    changing channel
formatting the computer that cant connect, fresh installing windows
    cursing and praying.
In the network diagnostic details from windows 7 auto-repair thingy, it seems that pre-association is working, but actual association is failing. The error code given is "0x00038002" next to association. Further down it also says that it failed to recieve a response from the access point or router. The funny thing is, everything was working fine a few weeks ago with the exact same hardware and software. Nothing has changed except my ability to connect.

Well I think (fingers crossed) mine is working properly now... so far so good.... i have a happy teanager again... she has internet.... ha-ha
    Default reset on WRT
Firmware update to Version 3 on the WRT (that was a pain in the butt... )
    default reset on WRT (AGAIN)
    reconfig..../set-up  .etc....
Had to adjust the settings on the firewall of the Win7 laptop to allow Cisco Pure networks and Network Magic to enter the wall...
As much as I didnt want to... I also installed Network Magic on both computers and it really walked/guided me through alot of the issues and fixed most of the items by itself...  Saved info to USB and uploaded to Win7 laptop... and it is working fine now......
Lets see if it last and works smoothly....

  • Officejet pro 8500A connected via wireless, but not accessible....

I can t access my officejet pro printer via wifi, after a firmware upgrade last week. I can print however from my iPad, but not from my laptop. Both are connected to the same wireless signal. I can see in my printer and router that both are connected. When I connect the printer via a cable to the router, it works.
As said, I lost this after firmware update.
    I tried:
Update the software on my laptop : no Improvement
Switch on/off the router, printer, laptop : no improvement....
Can anybody help? Would a downgrade offirmware help? Anybody familiar with this problem?
    Laptop : W7-64

The workgroup shouldn't matter. It's strange that the printer will communicate with the laptop as long as one of them is connected via Ethernet to the router. It shouldn't be doing that at all. It has to be something in the router. I know you mentioned using a different router and it worked just fine. Problem is I'm not sure why this router isn't working right. I'm sure the printer is out of warranty, which is why I'm sure you came to the forums first, but you may need to contact HP tech support. They should be able to remote in and find the setting that's blocking communication. II'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it out and it is processed, it will give you the printers warranty information, a case number, and the phone number to call.

  • Moving events to harddrive connected via wireless network

I cannot move my movie events onto harddrive connected via airport extreme. the harddrive shows up under events but dragging the movie events to it does nothing--and under 'import' and either copy or move it shows up a source but not a destination

imovie doesn't support wireless/NAS drives. There is a workaround. try doing a search on NAS Drives under the imovie search. I don't remember.

  • HP 2600n not connecting via Wireless

    Hi,
I have a HP 2600n Color Laser Printer connected to my airport extreme. I've used it wirelessly for a year. I changed a print cartridge and it stopped functioning. Basically, it sees the printer via Bonjour but "hangs" while I try to actually Add it. This locks up the system.
The printer works fine directly into the USB. I've unistalled / reinstalled all drivers. I used Print Therapy and Disk Utility to check for errors.
I know others have this same issue http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1405299 but, I can't find an answer.
    PLEASE help!

I'm shooting in the dark here but how about trying this:
Turn off Airport on your MacBook and connect to the Airport Extreme with an Ethernet cable (I assume your printer is connected via Ethernet as well). Can you add the printer? Can you print when connected like this? Then disconnect the Ethernet cable and turn your MacBook's Airport back on and see if you can still print.
Again, a shot in the dark. My next suggestion would be to do a hard reset of the Airport Extreme. I don't have one so I'm just assuming it can be reset.

  • EA3500 drops VPN connections via wireless

I don't have problems with the computer on other wireless connections with using VPN, so its not the laptop.  If I am connecting just to the internet and not trying to connect to the VPN i don't have any issues.   If I connect a CAT5 cable directly to the laptop I don't have any issues.  If I try to connect via the wireless the VPN will connect and then drop, usually every 30 to 60 seconds.  I have looked at the settings and can't see any that would make a difference.   Any suggestions on what might be happening and what I need to change on the settings?
    thanks

Maybe the wireless connection is not enough to handle wireless VPN connection. Try adjusting the wireless settings to improve the signal. Change the wireless channel under the 2.4 GHz to 6, 9, 11, and 1. And use 161 or 157 for the 5 GHz band.

  • I have two Buildings i need to connect via wireless

I have one Building with The Main Internet Connection. It has  1- wireless-G access point (wap54g v3) and 1-wireless-B ethernet bridge (wet11 v2)
The other Structure i cant run wire  cause of a water hazzard between the buildings. Building two has 1- Wireless-N Broadband Router(wrt300n)
With These 3 Products what can i do using what i have to connect,   connect building 1 to building 2 via wireless?  Or am i in need of another wireless router of sorts?
help and documentation would help.  I just was dropped into this and had a day or two to fingure a solution out.
    Thank you

The Computers which are connected to WRT300N on Building Two are they able to go online throught the Router? Then i would suggest you to get an Ethernet Bridge, As your ethernet bridge is older B series and it wont communicate with your Router properly, Either you can Get a G Series or N Series Ethernet Bridge ( WET54G , WET600N).
On Building 1 you need to input the wireless settings as you have set on your WRT300N Router. Once  you configure all the settings on your Bridge, then you can connect the Bridge to an switch and then connect your Access Point to the Swtich and configure all the settings on your WAP54G. And this will let all your computers go online Wirelessly and Wired as well.

  • Why is Firewire connected via wireless??

MBP late 2009 10.6.7 / Airport Extreme. I connect via ethernet cable or wireless.
    This is strange...
Network Utility shows the Firewire interface is "Active" and that Airport interface is "Inactive"
This is wrong - Firewire has never been used on the computer.
Network Utility shows Airport Interface- LINK STATUS: Inactive, Model: MCP79-1
Network Utility shows Firewire Interface- LINK STATUS: Active, Model: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g/n)
    Why? Anyone any ideas?

    Hi there.
So, the wired connection is working.
You just need to check the wireless settings of the router and make sure it's configured correctly. Try this link - www.linksys.com/kb article # 154. Even if its for wrt54g, it has the same User Interface as your router.
Check also if the wireless computer is able to get a valid IP address.
    If its XP
    1. Start>>Control Panel>>Network Connections>>Wireless Network Connections>>Right click>>Status>>Support.
    2. If you're IP address is 192.168.1.100, its good. Then try to go online.
    3. If you're getting 169.254.x.x it means that the computer is not able to obtain an IP address from the router
Just let me know what happen. Thanks.

Hi guys, I'm experiencing difficulties connecting to the internet via a wireless router. For some reason it won't accept the WPA password I'm typing even though it's the right password. • Keep losing connection via wireless.

    Hi All
    first post from me.
Have recently gone back to BT and chose the infinity package as it claimed you would get the best wireless coverage out there.
    Now heres the problem.
I keep losing my wireless connection on my iMac....So i try to use my iPhone instead, but still cant connect to the internet...My daughters laptop also wont connect...This has happened four times in the two weeks ive had it..The annoying thing is this never happened with Virgin..
All three blue lights are on, which suggest it should still be OK, but the connection has dropped out....
I have to restart the router and then shut down/startup my internet browser...
Can anyone please help me with this issues, as it becoming very frustrating..
    Kindest regards
    Dave

I can't speak for all your devices Dave, but when my wireless connection to my Nokia kept dropping out (my PC is connected by network cable), I followed the advice from another forum post...
Try going to your HH3's Manager page: http://bthomehub.home/
Enter your password, Click on the wireless tab, and try changing security to WPA only.
This obviously results in a less secure connection, and ignores the point that the Hub should flippin work on all settings without dropping out, but as a quick fix it worked for me.
Failing that, some others suggested changing Channel Selection from Automatic to any fixed channel that works well, ie, a resulting poor connection would suggest interference from other neighbourhood wireless devices so try a few to see which seems to give a reliable connection.

  • P2055dn no longer connects via wireless router

I recently replaced my wireless router, an ancient Airport Extreme, with a Linksys WRT120N, not exactly state of the art but still an improvement. At first I couldn't connect to my p2055dn, which I plugged into the router. It no longer showed up as a Bonjour printer when I tried to add it. Then I changed the network mode setting on the router from Wireless-N to Mixed, which got the printer to show up as a Bonjour printer. I then added it and all was well. Now, however, the printer is again not showing up at all. I can still print directly with an ethernet cable to the printer but not wirelessly. The only thing that has changed is that I had to reinstall OS X 10.10.3, but I don't see why that should have changed anything, particularly since the printer is no longer showing up on our other computers. My inclination is that the problem has to do with the router settings but maybe there's something I can configure on the printer to get it to play nice with the router? Any suggestions very welcome.

    OK..
I don't know if this is going to work for all 3 of you or not. Josephlee this might work for you, since you have AT&T DSL. Then again, it might or might not work for any of you. I am currently a BellSouth DSL customer. I had to set my modem to "bridge mode" before being able to use my Linksys WRT54G to access the internet. I can't explain how to set your DSL modem to "bridge mode." Your internet service provider will have to do that. If any of you can get your modem set to "bridge mode" I can give you some advice...
If you can get your DSL modem (Verizon, AT&T, Bellsouth, etc.) set to "bridge mode" this should help you out. By setting your modem to bridge mode, this allows your Linksys router to control all internet access. Basically it opens up your  DSL modem to allow any and all internet access straight through it, just like opening a water line. If your modem is set to bridge mode, let's continue...
Open Internet Explorer or whatever web browser you use. Go to http://192.168.1.1 to access your Linksys router's dialog. Hopefully you know the user name and password. The default (factory settings) are:
    username:                <<< leave blank
    password: admin
If you make it this far..
You will be at the Setup/Basic Setup tab
Internet Connection type you want is PPPoE
User Name: is the current login for your DSL account
Password: is the current password for your DSL account
(Remember that your router [not DSL modem] is controlling your access)
Select: Keep Alive and leave default (Not Connect on Demand)
Click on Save (and follow on screen instructions)
Next navigate to the Status tab
Once there, you should see Login Status. It should be Disconnected.
    Click the Connect button.
Click Save if prompted. (and follow on screen instructions)
    Now.. close ALL browser windows.
Re-open your web browser and check for internet connectivity. Some computers may require a reboot. My Win XP Pro doesn't.
I pray that helps you guys out!

  • HP Deskjet 3000 does not connect via Wireless to Windows 8.1 any more

Good day. My job requires me to move with my laptop (Asus X54C with NO bluetooth, only wireless) between multiple workplaces. One of these offices has an HP Deskjet 3000 wireless printer, which I used with no problem whatsoever under Windows 8.0 64-bit.I didn't even need to install its drivers, because Windows 8 would instantly recognise the driver's wireless signal.
Then a month ago I decided to update to Windows 8.1: after that, the printer suddenly stopped appearing in my “Network Connections”. I tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstall the 8.1 signed drivers by HP, but to no avail. The printer is recognised and works perfectly with an USB cable. I clearly recall seeing it on the right-hand pane (“Networks”), but since the 8.1 update it isn’t there anymore. The icon in the System Tray tells me that “connections are available”, but I can see no connections at all. In that particular office there is no Internet connection or other wireless connections apart from the HP printer (that however I cannot connect to). I'd like to point out that the wireless function is OK because a colleague of mine can still print using his Mac's Airport connection.
I have already posted in the Windows 8 (Microsoft Answers) Forum, but nobody has ever answered. You can find the thread here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/winows-81-not-finding-wireless-...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
