Connecting Virgin V+ box to apple tv

Hi
I am considering purchasing an APTV, however, i do not have an HD tv. Is it possible to connect the apple tv to the V+ box that has an HDMI connection and then use my existing scart connection on my tv to watch aptv content.
The tv is a Sanyo crt which has 2 scart and 1 yellow, white and red connector on the back.
Cheers
Karl

Highly unlikely, and if the HDMI on the virgin box is an output too, you might damage either or both outputs.
If the virgin box has an HDMI input, which I doubt, you might be in luck, but again I doubt it.

Although it shows the wifi as connected the tick box doesn't appear just the 'spinning circle' showing it is trying to connect.  I've re-set router, network settings, restored ipod and I have other apple devices happily connected.  Model is brand new 4 32GB with latest software.  Now thinking it's a fault.

  • [Solved]Some ISPs seem to be connected to my box: ones that are not...

Recently in the last few days I have been noticing on my Conky's Port monitor that a Roger's address (something like o1287YI.rogers.com), a Virgin mobile address, and a shaw address have been making active connections to my box on the most obscure port (in the range between like 25000-27000). These appear even when I am not running a web browser.
Would they be doing any harm? If so how do I kick them off?
I would post screenshots, but the image functions require that they be uploaded somewhere on the web.
Edit: Note that conky lists them as an "Outgoing connection". What the...?

But why the heck was Skype doing that?

  • 'Connection failed' dialogue box

Using my MacBook (10.5.6) on my home Apple Extreme network I'm getting a persistent 'Connection failed' dialogue box.
I can connect to the network and other Mac's on the same network without any problem, yet this persistent little box keeps popping up with its message: 'Connection failed. The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again'
I'd be grateful for some pointers as to why this may be happening. Is there anyway to disable it?
    Many thanks

    Hi All,
I also had the same problem here... driving me nuts trying to fix it. I also had my connection to my Time Capsule drop, reconnect, only to drop again in the same session. The combination resulted in over 8 minutes to fully boot up my MBP with an questionable airport connection. Looking at another issue, I may have found a fix (at least it cleared up my problems). Looking at "Macbook sporadically fails to connect to Time Capsule" (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9239652&#9239652), I tried a fix posted by Joel H --
    +++++++++++++++++++
"Open airport utility, click your time capsule, click 'continue'. On every page you can either accept current settings or change them. You want to change the one that has a 'device' password to a 'disk' password."
    +++++++++++++++++++
I tried this, after I had deleted my Keychain Airport prefs and rebooted, entering in my Airport Time Capsule password again (my TC was already set to 'disk' password). Wahlah, it worked solving both problems!!!! I still get an "Unable to mount G-Drive" error (I use my G-Drive to backup my TC via USB) when I don't have my G-Drive connected to my TC and powered up but the boot time is now less than a minute. Apple still needs to address this problem. We, Apple users, shouldn't have to scour the entire discussions site to find a fix.

  • Can't connect to X-Box live with Air Port Extreme

I just can't figure out how to connect my X-Box (original/first X-Box) to X-Box Live using my Airport Extreme. I am using an X-Box wireless modem. X-Box live phone help told me I needed to contact Apple and have them "Open three NAT Ports: 1. UDP 88, 2. UDP 3074, and 3. TCP 3074. Then to enable UPNP." WHAT?? Since I do not have Apple Care, they are unwilling to help me. I have tried manually entering the IP address and Subnet into my X-Box, but then the X-Box tells me there is no "Gateway" something or other. And I can't seem to find the "Gateway" on my Mac in Airport settings. Can anyone help?
    -Thanks!

Acces setup page of router .....
Please click on the tab "Application and gaming" and click on sub
    tab "Port range forwarding"
    1) On the first line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box
type in 88, in end box type in 88, in protocol keep it both, in ip
address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box.
    2)   On the second line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box
type in 3074, in end box type in 3074, in protocol keep it both, in ip
address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box.
    3) Now save the settings
    4) Once you return to the setup page, click on the tab "Administration"
and disable the UPNP and save the settings.
    5) Now assign the given ip address on your xbox
       ip address :- 192.168.1.20
       subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0
       default gateway :- 192.168.1.1
Please assign the dns address on the xbox
      primary dns :- 4.2.2.2
      secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    6) Please try to test your xbox live.

  • I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

    Hey Jonas!
Depending on how you want to connect your computer to your Apple TV, I have a couple of articles for you that can help answer your question. First, if you have OS X Mountain Lion on your MacBook Pro, this article about AirPlay Mirroring will help you understand some of the options available to you with that feature, and at the bottom of the page is a link to instructions for setting up AirPlay Mirroring:

  • How can I connect My MacBook Pro to Apple TV?

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro to Apple TV but without success. Any ideas?

How old is your MBP (year and season)?
 > About This Mac > More Info...
Apple TV is supported on a early 2011 or newer MacBook Pros with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later.  If your MBP is older than that then you can use AirParot to connect to Apple TV.

  • How do I connect my macbook pro to apple tv?

I have a Macbook Pro 2.7 GHz i7 that I purchased last Summer and I want to wirelessly connect it to my TV via Apple TV.  I'm running the lastest OS X 10.7.3
I watched a couple youtube videos and those people had an icon next to the wifi signal that allowed them to choose "apple tv." I don't have that icon.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do?  I'm pretty new to Macs so "hand holding" may be necessary!

Hi Hartagold33... I guess what you saw is the 'AirParrot' icon, this is the App I would recommend for wirelessly connect to your TV via Apple TV. It works very well for me.
It is pretty stable, demands a lot of CPU though, but don't worry, I have the same MB Pro you have: MBPro 2.7 i7 8GB RAM, it works very nicely.
Let me know if this works for you...! Regards.
