Connecting VT Advantage to Polycom MCU

I'm trying to get VTA(s)to connect to a polycom MCU.
I can call other Polycom VSX / PVX units with no problems, only the MCU is giving issues. I get to a mulit screen display wih VTA but then the MCU complains about a Video Sync Loss and neither end can see VTA Video. Though VTA cleints see polycom endpoints in the confrence
I've got a Polycom Gatekeelper and the hole mess integrated into call manager 4.1(3)
I'm tried limiting the codec of the meeting room to H.263 with no luck.
Funny thing is I have a Polycom VSX with a "soft" MCU software on it and it can run VTA clients i split screen OK.
anybody have any experiece with this is so please reply.

FYI - I resolved my own issue. There was a variable that had to be set on the Polycom MCU and the Polycom MCU needed to be set for Auto layout.
I'm still in process of figuring out what "breaks" the VTA and the polycom MCU

  • VCS drop a connection with same endpoint Polycom HDX after 2 hours

    Hi ,
    i ' ve a problem , with a VCS Control and some Endpoint Polycom HDX.
    I use a TMS and 2 mediablade MCU registered on VCS.
    I connect various endpoint with ip address (in the VCS there is a Membership rules for the internal private ip address) , but same endpoint after 2 hours drop a connection.
    I examine the problem with a sniffer:
    10.253.40.4 is the Endpoint
    10.49.64.190 is the VCS Control
    from the vcs i can see:   (10.49.72.20 is the mediablade - codian MCU)
    I DON'T KNOW what can drop the connection.
    in my network i've another gatekeeper.
    If i register the same endpoints at the other gatekeeper and i call this with the e164 number the connection works very well and there isn't any fault.
    Only whit a VCS there is a problem.
    The VCS and the other Gatekeeper are uder a pix cisco firewall, bau there a rules that permit all ip from the network.
    The specialist have verify the firewall and there aren't any drop.
    what can i do ?
    i try to modify the timer on the H323 vcs parameters, so:
    can you help me , please ?
    Thanks in advance
    Francesco Costalunga

    but when i modify the timer (call time to live or time to live) i can reset the vcs o re-register the mcu ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Polycom MCU registration problem

    I'm installing a small H.323 network which uses the gatekeeper included in IOS H.323 version 12.3 (it is in a Cisco 2610XM)
    I have a MCU which is contained in an Polycom iPower 9800. This equipment is a video terminal too. Ihave other video terminals and a H.320-H.323 gateway.
    The gatekeeper register all video terminals and the gateway, but it can't register the MCU and then I can't use it.
    I have done an h225 asn1 debug and I got:
    02:20:48: RAS OUTGOING PDU ::=
    value RasMessage ::= registrationReject :
    requestSeqNum 8
    protocolIdentifier { 0 0 8 2250 0 4 }
    rejectReason invalidAlias : NULL
    gatekeeperIdentifier {"GK_UTE"}
    I have followed the instructions provided in "gk-reg-issues.pdf" cisco public document, but the problem remains.
    Please help me.

    There might be several reasons...
    One most probable reason is your MCU might be trying to register with multiple h323 id's and that is what is causing the problem. This MCU should only register with one h323 id, and it is possible to configure zone prefizes or gw-type prefixes to route the particular prefixes to that gateway.
    Second probable reason is MCU registration entry is predefined at gatekeeper. Delete it and try to register. Another possible solution is set mode of MCU to GW, then reset it and try to register.

    This sounds just like what happens at our EDI department here at work. The trading partners are sending us standard documents (not XML, but still standard formats) but they all contain semantic information that needs to be interpreted differently. Or they are sending different subsets of the standard. So each trading partner's document has a transformation that maps their document into our internal standard format.
    I can see that with XML you would have the same situation. Initially you might write an XSL for each partner, but as you get farther along you should probably refactor those XSLs. You will probably find that the transformations are all quite similar, with only the details differing. So you should end up with a "core" XSL for a particular document, plus "override" XSLs for particular partners that import or include the core XSL.

  • Polycom VSX and HDX call ends 60 minutes NO firewall

    Hey Guys,
       I have an HDX 6000 along with multiple other VC units in my local office registered to a Polycom Readimanager. At a remote office over an MPLS connection I have a Polycom VSX 7000.  Whenever I make a call to this remote location over the MPLS the call drops exactly after 60 minutes. Calls on the local LAN have no such issue.  There is NOT a firewall between the devices which is what the problem usually would be. I have the call durations set to 0 for all video endpoints which should mean unlimited call lengths. My local MPLS router is a Cisco 3945 ver 15.1(3)T2 and the remote MPLS router is a Cisco 2951 router ver 15.1(3)T2.  Any possible ideas?

    There was a discussion of this issue on the VTCTALK form at http://www.vtctalk.com//showthread.php?t=11450.
    "timeout value in the PIX firewall that was causing the calls to drop. It was the H225 timeout"

  • SX20 Floor Control

    Can someone please tell me where I can find the Floor Control options on a SX20 Codec?
    We use this quite regularly on our MXP95s but can't find it on the SX20 and are needing the end user to be able to set which remote endpoint (in a multi-site call) is shown in the prominent position.

    Hi folks,
    When connecting to a Cisco Telepresence MCU, SX20 is able to "take floor" by using DTMF sequence. You can send DTMF information to MCU and request floor, then SX20 will be shown in the proeminent position for all other participants.
    This same concept is applied to another endpoits as well, not only to SX20. For example, this is a print screen from Jabber client requesting floor via DTMF, take a look:
    That menu is shown when you press when you send * to MCU, so you can send number keys via DTMF to navigate int he menus. In this menu you can request floor, mute audio, change layout, see participants, increase border and so on.
    To enable this menu in the MCU, you need to configure the conference and set the parameter "Floor and chair control" to Allow floor.
    I hope this help.

  • Arch for dialup router

    Hi,
    I want to install arch on a friend's router pc (which was running fli4l).
    She wants to have some cron stuff on it (dial out these times only and so on) which fli4l seems not to be able to handle.
    So arch should do the job. I know how to setup her ISDN connection, but I don't have any clue about the routing stuff. Is this all done via iptables?
    Could someone give me a hint; what arch stuff/packages are needed to be installed for this purpose anyway?
    If you name me some docs or google keywords I would be happy already Just don't know in which direction I need to go with my arch router, I never was into that routing stuff yet..
    regards
    Ford Prefect

    Ok. It should be easy. I assume you have isdn (as ippp0) and one ethernet card (eth0) configured (modules, etc...). etc/relsov.conf (DNSes) should also be automatically configured by ipppd or you can set up your own manually.
    Your /etc/rc.conf should look like this:
    HOSTNAME="routerpc"
    MODULES=(...your network modules.... iptable_filter iptable_nat ip_nat_ftp ip_nat_irc ...other modules...)
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    # eth0 is LAN (switch)
    # ippp0 is the internet
    # all computers on the LAN should have IPs starting
    # from 192.168.222 (you can change 222 to something else
    # just remember you have to change it everywhere in the configs)
    eth0="eth0 192.168.222.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.222.255"
    INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.222.1" #not important, default route should be set by ipppd http://linuxcommand.org/man_pages/ipppd8.html
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network iptables ...other daemons...)
    in /etc/sysctl.conf add
    net.ipv4.ip_forward=1
    net.ipv4.ip_dynaddr=1
    First line is not really necessary because forwarding is already turned on by default in /etc/conf.d/iptables but it's good to have them in one place.
    Now you need to configure NAT/firewall. There are several ways to do this. You can configure and save rules in /etc/iptables/iptables.rules (default - used by iptables in DAEMONS), copy and modify some /etc/rc.d/ script and configure iptables in it, or use ipppd script (there should be somewhere ip-up script or something like this which is executed automatically on successful connection - an advantage is that it gets parameters from ipppd like IP, interface etc.).
    The configuration below is for the first method.
    As root run:
    iptables -F -t filter
    iptables -X -t filter
    iptables -F -t nat
    iptables -X -t nat
    iptables -F -t mangle
    iptables -X -t mangle
    iptables -t filter -P INPUT DROP
    iptables -t filter -P FORWARD DROP
    iptables -t filter -P OUTPUT ACCEPT
    If you run the following rule it will open the router pc to the internet (all ports). If you only have www, ftp or ssh services running on the router (man netstat) it should be quite safe:
    iptables -t filter -A INPUT -j ACCEPT
    and the forwarding rules:
    iptables -t filter -A FORWARD -s 192.168.222.0/24 -d 0/0 -j ACCEPT
    iptables -t filter -A FORWARD -d 192.168.222.0/24 -s 0/0 -j ACCEPT
    I'm not quite sure what you want to forward "from outside to a box inside" ? Do you really want to forward ports from router pc to some pc inside LAN or you just want to have sshd port on the router accessible from the internet and/or LAN? Or... ? Anyway, read netfilter tutorials and you'll figure it out.
    general NAT for isdn:
    iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ippp0 -j MASQUERADE
    save generated rules in a file:
    iptables-save > /etc/iptables/iptables.rules
    You can restart the router box now or only start/restart ipppd, network and iptables daemons.
    All PCs in the LAN should have IPs from the range of 192.168.222.2 to 192.168.222.254, netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway set to 192.168.222.1.
    This is only the minimum config. I suggest reading tutorials from http://www.netfilter.org to configure more filters.

    Without a full-blown version of Skype (chat, audio and video), the Playbook is missing key end-user functionality and is an also ran in the tablet market.
    Come on RIM upstage Apple.  Release a version of Skype just before Apple's iPad 3 annoucement.

    Then negotiate.  RIM has a good reltionship with Microsoft, a major Skype shareholder.  Further the Canada Pension Plan owns a portion of Skype, surely RIM could use its political connections to advantage!!!

  • VC3515 MCU connectivity with h323 unregister endpoints

    We recently purchased the IPVC3515 MCU and I currently have it configured for H323 registering to a cisco IOS gatekeeper which is in turn registered to our CCM 4.02 installation. We just added some Video Advantage cameras that will successfully connect to the MCU thru an H323 trunk. We also have the typical Polycom H323 endpoints that register with the Gatekeeper and will also connect successfully to the MCU. So all that is working as it should.
    My question is whether it's possible to allow unregistered endpoints the ability to connect to a conference on the MCU. We eventually want to be able to pull in some H323 video endpoints from the internet and I would rather not require them to register with our GK if at all possible. I can currently call out to an unregistered endpoint from the MCU and it connects successfully. I do this by disabling the gatekeeper in one of my polycom units and than initiate the invite from the MCU. Eventually I plan on doing this with endpoints on the internet but I wanted to keep the whole firewall complexity out of the equasion for now so I am testing on our LAN. However I have not found a way for that same endpoint to call into the MCU without being registered to the Gatekeeper. Does anyont know of a way on the MCU to make this happen? Is there anytype of software or gateway out there that could forward the endpoint into the MCU?

    We have done the same here though we use a Tandberg instead of a Polycom.
    It is NOT possible to connect from a H.323 endpoint that is not registered at your gatekeeper.
    I know that Tandberg offers border controllers to resolve this issue, have a look at your vendor to figure out what they have.

  • Advantages of Using Secure Connect in Cisco Jabber Version 9.0

    Hello,
    About a month ago we deployed Jabber for iPhone.   For VPN we used Cisco AnyConnect,certificate authentication and VPN on demand.   We used our MDM to deploy the certificates and AnyConnect configuration.    So far everything is working as designed.  Now with the release of version 9, Secure Connect is an option and I was wondering what are the advantages of using Secure Connect?
    Thanks

    Hi Manrico,
    Are the all the systems using the same firewall policy. It could be one of the rules configured in the SEP client. What build version are you running? Are all systems using the same version of VPN client? As Parminder stated, you should disable the firewall and check behavior.
    If the firewall is found to be the cause, you can troubleshoot by adding an "Allow All" rule to the top of the SEP policy. Moving the rule down one line at a time until the problem occurs again. Once that happens, you will have narrowed it down to the rule just above.
    Let us know how it goes for you.
    Best,
    Thomas

  • Deskjet Advantage 3540 (Envy 4500): Computer won't connect with printer during software installation

    I just bought this printer and I am trying to install it by using the HP installation CD but I am running into difficulties to complete the process. The problem is that the computer won't connect with the printer (but my printer connects fine with my Wi-Fi network) and installation does not complete.
    The HP software installation process appears to go  normally (at least no error messages are shown) but when it gets to the part where it asks me how I would like to connect to the printer (Wireless or USB cable) I get an error message when I select Wireless Mode. My printer appears listed but as soon as I select it, a dialog is shown stating that "network installation could not be performed".
    Below are the dialogs and what happens (text is in portuguese but you get the idea)
    Dialog 1: selecting wireless connection mode
    Dialog 2: printer appears in list and I select it
    Dialog 3: Error message is shown, no further details
    Here are some more facts:
    (1) Printer connect fines with my Wi-Fi network: the connection details are correctly shown in its display (Wi-Fi SSID and IP 192.168.0.6) ;
    (2) If I go to a web browser in my computer and type in the IP address, I can access the printer's webpage fine;
    (3) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling HP software;
    (4) I've resetted my router;
    (5) I've executed "HP Print and Scan Doctor" utility and it states my software hasn't been installed (which I don't understand) and it tries to download HP software and install one more time and I get to the error.
    (6) If I go to "Start" menu, I can see the HP group is empty (installation only creates icons on my desktop). See picture below:
    My OS is Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate (Service Pack 1)
    EDIT: I've just discovered the inkjet Advantage 3540 and Envy 4500 appear to be the same printer, each target to a different market.
    Help is much appreciated as I tried a lot of things to make this printer work wirelessly with my computer but without success.

  • Advantages of connection object

    Could someone explain the advantages or rather difference in passing the Connection object from a JSP to a servlet instead of creating one (and returning to the pool) in the servlet itself?
    Thanking you

    Do you mean the advantage of holding onto a connection over multiple requests versus making a new one each request?
    There it usually comes down to 2 things:
    1) Faster response time if new connections don't have to be made, or you don't have to wait for another connection to be freed for the pool
    2) Probably more importantly you can maintain multi-request transactions. If you have a transaction with the DB that may take several steps of user interaction, if you maintain the same connection then if you need to you can roll back all the changes (cancel) that the user made. If you make/get new connections each time then it is harder to roll back and you could leave the DB in an unwanted state.
    If you mean in the same request... then I don't know - other than it is easier to handle all the exceptions in a servlet then in a JSP (nature of working with Java code directly)

    How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
    Eric Steven Raymond
    Rick Moen
    Write in clear, grammatical, correctly-spelled language
    We've found by experience that people who are careless and sloppy writers are usually also careless and sloppy at thinking and coding (often enough to bet on, anyway). Answering questions for careless and sloppy thinkers is not rewarding; we'd rather spend our time elsewhere.
    So expressing your question clearly and well is important. If you can't be bothered to do that, we can't be bothered to pay attention. Spend the extra effort to polish your language. It doesn't have to be stiff or formal — in fact, hacker culture values informal, slangy and humorous language used with precision. But it has to be precise; there has to be some indication that you're thinking and paying attention.
    Spell, punctuate, and capitalize correctly. Don't confuse "its" with "it's", "loose" with "lose", or "discrete" with "discreet". Don't TYPE IN ALL CAPS; this is read as shouting and considered rude. (All-smalls is only slightly less annoying, as it's difficult to read. Alan Cox can get away with it, but you can't.)
    More generally, if you write like a semi-literate b o o b you will very likely be ignored. So don't use instant-messaging shortcuts. Spelling "you" as "u" makes you look like a semi-literate b o o b to save two entire keystrokes.

  • Polycom HD camera work in Connect?

    Have a high-end point-to-point video conference system we just installed.  Only shortcoming is its ability to work with basic web-based VC solutions like Skype.  Not a huge issue with Skype but may be with more robust solutions like Adobe Connect.  Albeit still web-based, more capable of recognizing higher end camera?
    In this case the Polycom camera sends out an S-video signal to computer PCI capture card we are hoping will be picked up and recognized by Connect.  Skype sees and recognized it, just cant display it.
    Havent been able to setup a test with Adobe Connect yet so looking for any insights in advance.
    Thanks!

    Since Im more IT than AV Im going to take a moment to briefly describe my situation to make sure Im not
    leaving out some magic tidbit that might lead to a solution to this situation.
    Small conference room with a Polycomm 7200 codec with Polycom HD Eagle Eye camera:
    http://www.polycom.com/global/documents/products/telepresence_video/datasheets/hdx-eagleey e-comparison-tech-specs.pdf
    This Point to point system works great IP to IP using the codec itself.
    Problem is we only do about 20% of VC point to point (but thta number is growing).
    We still do a lot of Adobe Connect web based ones as well.
    This Eagle Eye Camera has an S-video out and just suprised be cant get Connect (or Skype) to recognize this camera (even thought the PC PCI card sees it).
