Connecting wirelessly to my Canon printer

I have two homes, one in St. Petersburg, Florida and one in Chicago. When I drove up to Chicago over the weekend, I brought my 24-inch iMac with me. It has worked flawlessly in Florida for several years with my Airport wireless system, and works just fine in Chicago with the Airport router here -- except it won't print wirelessly. I keep getting "printer busy" Error 113 messages. Yet my MacBookPro has no problem talking to the printer, which is a Canon MP980. Any thoughts?
Just as a side note, if I can't make the printer and Mac talk to one another wirelessly, I don't mind hardwiring them, but I need a longer cord than came with the printer. Are they available?

If you haven't tried this already I would delete the current print queue on the iMac to the wireless MP830 and then add the queue again. When you add and select the Default view, the MP830 should appear quickly as a scanner and then sometime later as the printer (showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column). With this printer queue selected the Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon MP830 series. When it does click Add and then see if you can print from the iMac.

I can not get my iphone to connect wirelessly to the Canon SX700HS. I am able to see the Canon SX700 in the wifi section of my iPhone and I am able to select it. When I open the EOS Remote application and select Camera Connection, I see the camera showing up at the bottom of the window as a WiFi Connection, but it does not show up as a detected camera at the top of the window screen. Is there a setting I need to change? Late last night, and pretty painlessly, I managed to pair my new Powershot SX600 HS with my ("old") iPhone 4s.
I think obviously you did download the 2 applicable Canon software apps onto your phone.
Right now, I'm in a bit of a fog, but wanted to share this with you. I was helped by the Canon user manual info at this link, in the "Wireless" section somewhere around p. 89:

Canon wireless pairing to a windowsphone is another story entirely.

  • Connecting Ellipsis Jetpack to Canon Printer

Can anyone tell me how to get my canon pixma mg3200 printer, to connect to the ellipsis jetpack?

Contact Cannon technical support and have them walk you through the printers wireless connection process.  Cannon will be able to look up user guides for you that will explain what needs to be entered and how to enter it in the printer.
The Jetpack is going to be like any other wireless hotspot from the printers perspective.  There should be no need to configure anything on the Jetpack to allow your printer to connect.  If for some reason you need to look up the networking information of your Jetpack then let us know.  We would need to know which specific Jetpack model you have so we can dig up the correct user guide and provide you with the steps.

  • Problem connecting wirelessly with HP 6310 printer

Since our computer automatically updated from Windows 8 to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago, we have not been able to use our HP 6310 printer.  It connects with the computer through a wireless internet router.  Have updated the HP driver to 8.1 to no avail.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hey there @Benjie18 ,
I read your post about how you cannot use your Officejet 6310 printer since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I have a few ideas that come to mind that I am going to suggest and I hope they help!
    1. Run the Print and Scan Doctor, which may find the problem and correct it.
    2. Make sure the printer can make copies.
    3. Try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting the PC and reinstall - HP Photosmart and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers
Let me know the results. If you run into any issues or errors, let me know!

  • OfficeJet J6450 - Printer connects wirelessly but doesn't print post cable modem replacment

Equipment: My printer is an OfficeJet J6450. I run Windows Vista, current update.
Likely triggering event: I replaced my docsis 3.0 modem with a doscis 2.0 modem. The ISP remained the same. All other computer software and firewall remained the same.
Malfunction: After the cable modem replacement, I found that I could no longer print to my HP OfficeJet 6450. I would get an error in the printer window "Error - printing."  After restarting after the initial error appeared, I would get the error "Error - sent to printer."
    What I did:
At first I uninstalled and re-installed the HP software for the printer (complete package with exceptions of PhotoSmart and HP customer monitoring program).
Using the printer's network connection wizard, I entered the wireless router password to the printer. At first I didn't get a connection. Then I restarted both the computer and the printer. I also returned to the network default setting on the printer, and repeated the configuring the network. The connection finally succeeded.
The network self-test page and the printer's network wizard confirm the connection. The printer's digital display and the HP diagnostic utility also confirmed the connection. But the diagnostic utility can't print a test page and throws up an error - "Test print failed."
The disappointing result:  I still cannot get anything to print wirelessly.
...Thanks in advance for your suggestions to get my printer back up and running...

Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
    Next, re-add the printer:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.  Get the IP address from a Wireless Netowork Test on the front of the printer (usually in the Network menu).
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Canon printer won't connect since upgrade to Lion

Ever since I upgraded to Lion I can't connect up with my Canon printer anymore.  How do I fix this?

  • After loading OSX 10.9.2, my Canon printer is no longer found when trying to print from my MacBook Pro.

After loading OSX 10.9.2,  my printer is no longer recognized by my Mac.  I have a Canon MG 7120 and it is connected wirelessly.

    Try:
uninstall all printer manufacturer apps and "utilities"
go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
control-click on your printer in the column on the left
select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
do a factory reset on your printer. You'll have to consult the printer manual for how.
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer
power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and printer. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next
enter your wifi password in your printer so it can connect to the network
go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple (if there is one)
if that doesn't work there are a few options
look on the printer manufacturer's website for an updated driver
see if Gutenprint for Mac OS X has a driver
see if your printer will work with AirPrint or a generic driver. See: OS X Mountain Lion: If the software for your printer can’t be found (the reference says Mountain Lion but it still applies for Mavericks.)
    go back to Mountain Lion

  • Printer connected via WiFi, will not print.

I have a MacBook Pro (2008) running Yosemite 10.10.1 and it is connected wirelessly to my Canon MP530 printer (using a print server). Everything is connected correctly, but when I send a file to print, nothing happens. I am pretty sure I have the correct driver installed because this identical setup works on my other Mac (2009) also running Yosemite 10.10.1.
The only thing I can remotely think of is that on the Mac that won't print, it is an older Mac (2008) running Yosemite. On the Mac that wireless printing works on, it is a newer model (2009) also running Yosemite. I suspect it may be a hardware problem, but not sure.
(and yes, I have also tried the Gutenprint drivers, with no result). I can print from the 2008 Mac using the 2009 Mac as a server, but that's it. I just want to be able to print from the 2009 Mac without connecting it directly to the printer or using the 2009 Mac as a "server". Why does one Mac print wirelessly while the other one will not?
    Any suggestions?

  • Scanning wirelessly with a Canon MP520???

Is there a way to scan wirelessly using a Canon MP520?
    Printing: it's great. Scanning: nothing!
Surely there is a way in this day and age?!
    Many thanks...

How are you connecting wirelessly? Does your printer have it built in or are you using a Airport Express as a wireless print server?
As far as wireless print servers go, about a year ago I was looking into getting a wireless print server and only a couple said that they would allow all use of a multi function printer. I did not end up getting one because none were of any major brand and I do not remember what they were, but I would have to guess that by now there are more that will allow multi-functions. They will boast it in the list of features.

  • Hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw won't consistently connect wirelessly with iMac

I'm on my second brand new hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw in 3 days, it will not consistently connect wirelessly with my newly purchased (8days old) Apple refurbished 27" iMac on OSX 10.9, i7 chip & Fusion Drive.  The hp laserjet will sometimes connect wirelessly immediately after clicking "print" on the iMac, but about half the time it says "printer not connected" & takes 2-4 minutes (or longer) before the devices do connect. I've called hp support many times, they're reset various things via remote takeover of my iMac, the printer will work for a few of minutes but then the same problem returns. AppleCare made sure I have the
correct Airprint driver installed & also checked my settings, but says they don't know why this is occurring. I've also verified that our newer (6 months old) AT&T router is functioning correctly.
My older hp laserjet (CM1312nfi MFP) has worked flawlessly since 2009 via USB connection with my old iMac (still on Snow Leopard), I assumed it would continue with the new one, but there is no software update for Mavericks & the scanning feature won't operate on the new iMac. Hp says it is a discontinued model. The new hp laserjet is a successor model to the older one, they are both very similar except for the new wireless feature.
I can print fast & wirelessly from the new iMac via a different new hp inkjet printer (8600 series) here in the house. This inkjet printer is less than a month old, I installed it myself for a Windows laptop here, it has never malfunctioned.  Unfortunately it's upstairs & I do not like inkjet print quality, I need a good laserjet here in my office downstairs next to my iMac.

    HI there
Did you manage to sort this issue out - as I have exactly the same problem.
Lots of similarities as I also have an inkjet 8600 which works via USB and wirelessly no problems at all!
I always  buy HP printers as they are usually easy to set up - but this one is making me tear my hair out!
I've even upgraded to Yosemite and downloaded the new drivers from HP - no success.  The printer will print one page and then become unavailable.
I can print via USB or wireless direct - but not just via my wireless network which is what I want to do!
No responses posted - so assume no one has a fix.
    aaaargh!!!

  • Connected wirelessly to Canon printer MX340. Duplex printing option is grayed out for me but not on my daughter's non-Mac laptop or husband's PC which is connected to the printer. Mine has two-sided option available at the Apple store. Any ideas?

We use a Canon MX340 series printer/fax/scanner. My husband has his PC hooked to it and my daughter prints wirelessly from it with no problem with her non-Mac laptop. I have trouble printing. Often it does not print and I have to delete the job from the queue. Other times it will print OK but two-sided printing is always grayed out in my printing options. When I took it to the Apple store and printed on their network (selecting their printer) the two-sided option was available. Makes me think the printer is set up wrong, but I am not certain. A fw times at home when trying to print I got an error message about incompatible fonts, but it printed anyway after deleting the job and starting over. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    OK, just an update.
Two years into this, I still find I can only do full duplex printing by using Windows XP running inside of VMWare. I've had occasional, ephemeral luck with duplex printing, but nothing long lasting.
I've tried this in Tiger and Leopard (now at 10.5.6), and I've had this issue with Canon printers MP780 iP4300 and MP610, direct connected to my Core2Duo 17" MBP. I also have this issue when printing over a network, but that's a much harder problem to solve.
Currently, this is my #1 most pressing issue for my Mac, because not being able to print from a computer when you print a lot is a really big drag, and using VMWare all the time is also a really big drag. Other people posting seem to be able to print in Duplex using the very same printers. What could be wrong with my MBP? I see the duplex box option, but most of the time it's grayed out as if my printer doesn't support duplex.
I've tried direct selecting printer drivers from the system preferences, but nothing seems to have an effect. And this is off of a clean Leopard install.
My wife now has similar problems with her new MBP - the Canon print drivers (CUSP & non CUSP) aren't allowing the Duplex box to be checked.
I am willing to pay good money to anyone who thinks they can fix this problem.
    Thank you,
    - Jeff

  • HT3500 i have a mac pro and have connected to my wireless canon printer. I was able to print but now the printer comes up with the paper in the tray is the wrong size. but the paper is A4. does any one know what is wrong.

I have connected to my wireless canon printer but it wont let me print from my mac pro. printer comes up with the message that the paper size doesnt match the printer settings. I have tried to change the settings on the printer but that didnt work. can anyone help

Well... no help was found here.. so I abandoned the wireless- ness of my printer.  I bought a
small 10 port hub because only 2 USB ports really isn't enough with wireless mouse, wireless internet
and any kind of printer.   I also bought a long USB cable.  I now print--wired since this can be done
as an alternative to wireless with this printer.   Because I don't want a cable "hanging around"
when the printer is not in use, I simple disconnect it and reconnect when I want to print.
It's a temporary solution others may find helpful as well. Apparently there's been a lot of
confusion and problems getting this printer set up wirelessly with our MacBooks.
Shame on HP for not helping us out!

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.
    Barry
P.S. No need to apologize!  Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others.

  • I'm trying to share a new Canon printer wirelessly between my HP laptop and my iMac.  I've successfully printed from both computers, but, I get errors trying to print on one after I've printed on the other.  Any ideas on how to get them to both to print?

I installed a new Canon printer several months ago that I was told by the salesman could be shared between my iMAC and HP laptop.  I have successfully used the printer wirelessly from both computers, however, it gets hung up switching between the two and I'm not sure what to do to get it to be consistent.  Any ideas?

You didn't state how it's connected to each computer, if it's connected through your router then it should work. If it doesn't then you need to contact Canon and ask for assistance.
