Connecting with a friend that uses iChat

Question

My friend uses a macbook pro and he wants to connect with me to try video conferencing, but he always get kicked whenever he connects with me. I look at the requirements and it said intel processor base. Is it necessary. My desktop uses a AMD 64. Also, I'm using AIM classic 5.6.6089

I've been trying to get video chat between my Vista machine and mac running iChat all day using AIM 6.5.4.16, with not much success.
As far as the firewall, with the control panel in "Classic View", go to Windows Firewall and then click "change settings" (as usual vista will give various pop ups asking for your permission to access the "advanced" settings). On the "Exceptions" tab, you'll see that AIM is one of the checked entries. Clicking 'Properties' and then 'Scope' shows that 'any computer' is checked.
As per previous postings in various places on this issue (video chat b/w pc and mac) I added two new port entries:
1) Name: aim6.exe
port number:2869
TCP
2)Name: aim6.exe
port number: 1900
UDP
for both the scope is set to 'Any...'
With these settings, txt chat to iChat on a mac works fine. My requesting a video chat results in '-8 error' on the mac end. I tried disabling my router's firewall completely, but we got the same error.
My modem/wireless router are Linksys. My speeds are ~700down/320up
Note that the fine print on AIM's site says that the latest version will only support video AIM to AIM. I tried dwnloading version 5.9 of AIM, but it only supports video for the XP operating system (the "live video" option doesn't exist when installing on my system). I can't find a copy of 6.1 to try it with. If someone has one, I'd be more than happy to give it a go.
If someone has any ideas, I'd love some help.
