Connecting with Cable

Hi,
I always sync my mobile with my laptop using the USB cable. I have a Nokia 6270.
I never used to have any problems before. But for the last few days, I keep getting the following error "USB Device Not Recognized." And thus, cannot connect my mobile to my laptop. Rebooting the laptop doesn't help, but I have found that sometimes when I turn off/on the mobile, it helps. But this problems still continues. Any suggestions as to what this could be and how to solve it?

I have this problem now (on an N70 with an IBM T41 ThinkPad). The physical connection cable is not recognised on the quick launch toolbar (the phone icon has a red circle with an 'X' in it). This happened previously but only sporadically. One day it would show this non connection and then next it was okay. A removal and reinsertion of the cable at one end or other (the phone or laptop) would reset it and recognise the connection. But now it is permanently not recognising the physical connection at all in either USB ports. I know that the phone is connected because if I trick the Nokia software by going to the Internet using the mobile as the modem it works perfectly. Seeing as my laptop has no bluetooth and Nokia decided in their wisdom not to keep infrared (which my laptop does have) I am now stuck and cannot upgrade my phone, copy photos, change MP3 songs etc etc. Thus rendering it impotent. There must be a workaround that allows you to get the Nokia software / hardware to believe there is a connection if I can browse the internet okay. Any ideas ? Dominic

Your post is somewhat confusing. To restore your iPad you use the iTunes application on your computer and connect your iPad. Select your iPad in the left column of iTunes on your computer and select General in the right column. You should find the restore choice there.

ITunes doesn't find Airtunes when connected with cable, only WiFi

I have an Apple TV with Airtunes enabled. But apparantly, it's not possible to connect to it from PC's who are connected to LAN with cable instead of WiFI? Does anyone know why?
More details:
I have 3 PC's:
PC 1: , Windows 7 64-bit with iTunes 9.1.1.12 (latest)
Stationary, connected to LAN using cable in a Gigabit switch
PC 2: 100% fresh install of Windows 7 32-bit and iTunes 9.1.1.12
Stationary, connected to LAN using cable in a Gigabit switch
PC 3: Win 7 32-bit with iTunes 9.1.1.12
Netbook - connected through WiFi
Apple TV device (latest firmware) is connected to same LAN using cable as well. *All PC's can ping the Apple TV without problems.*
So the problem is that iTunes doesn't find the Airtunes device (the output dropdown selector doesn't show up). I first tried on my main PC (PC1). It didn't work, so i tested on PC2 (wich is a fresh install of both OS and iTunes!), but same problem there.
But then the weird thing happened. I tried to install on my netbook, and it worked! Only difference is that the netbook was connected through WiFi. I don't see why that would matter, but just for fun i tested to disconnect WiFi, and connect with cable and boom - airtunes selection dissappeared! As soon as I disconnected the cable and reconnected WiFi, it appeared again.
Why on earth would Airtunes only work on WiFi? As you can see on this screenshot, network configuration is equal on Wifi and cabled connection. (Apple TV has IP 10.0.1.30)

It's supposed to be able to cope with slightly different file & folder structures, missing track numbers, all tracks in just an artist folder, everything in Unknown Artist\Unknown Album etc. Details here. Can you give me an idea of how things are set out? Maybe it needs a little tweak to cope with the way you've done things, or we could use something like MediaMonkey to reorganize what you have into something the script can work with.
I'm going to be out for much of the day but I'll look in on this thread later.

Time Capsule Connectivity with Cable TV

My Time Capsule worked fine until I switched from satellite TV to cable TV.
I managed to connect to the internet but why I can't use my iPad, Apple TV,
our HP PC, or any lat top?

It is impossible to answer without more info.
What mode is the TC in and how is it connected to the TV at all? ie I do not understand what cable TV or satellite TV has to do with internet connection. Is any of these based on wifi signal.. if so, then you have signal issues?? Plug the Apple TV in by ethernet .. does that fix it?
What kind of internet do you have?
What IP does the device that does connect to the internet get?
Please give as many screenshots as you can of the TC setup and any errors showing up.

Connection with cable modem without ethernet possible?

I'd like to put my apple airport extreme base and my external hdds to an other room but there is no possibility for an ethernet connection to my fritz!box. I there a possibility to configure the base to connect to the internet via wlan e.g.
1. Connection MPB ==> Airport Base via WLAN
2. Connection Airport Base ==> Fritz!Box via WLAN
3. Connection to Internet ==> Fritz!Box included modem
4. Using Internet on MBP via Fritz!Box ==> Airport Base

In order for the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) to extend the wireless network of the Fritz!Box router, they would have to be configured in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). Unfortunately, only an extremely few non-AirPort routers are WDS-compatible, so it is highly unlikely that you will be able to accomplish this step.

Linksys WRT300N Connectivity with Proper Settings

I am a computer tech and have worked with Linksys products for years. Over the last year or so, I have had so much trouble, I cannot explain it. I have a client who purchased a Linksys WRT300N that I initially setup a few months ago. It is connected with cable modem from Linksys. Hardwired, the speeds are just fine. I have the most recent firmware and setup lower threshhold levels and such to gain better wireless signal, performance. The only computer I am having trouble with is one using the WUSB300 adapter. The computer is XP SP3 and using the most recent driver. I even installed the Linksys utility and tested it, to no avail. This desktop is right around the corner from this router, it works well with a Mac, but it will not be read by the desktop WUSB300. I did release/renew, uninstalled/reinstalled, checked everything and the adapter will not get a good signal plus it doesn't get assigned an IP and continues with the 169.xx.... I rebooted the modem then router, and then rebooted computer. The initial connection worked then gone. It never held and this is around the corner. For the Mac, I did a speedtest.net and with a strong signal, and Wireless N only, I received less than DSL lite speeds but hardwired, I achieved up to 15000kbps. I cannot explain what is happening. The router has the most recent firmware, there is no interference since transmitting N only, and I did the proper settings that previous posts commented on, to get better signal strength. What am I not seeing? Why would the speeds be so slow, from doing at least 6 tests over an hour? Also, why would I not get an ip address from one N router to another N device, by the same manufacturer? Sorry for the frustration here, but I recommended this equipment a year ago and Linksys has been very disappointing in its results. These N products are unreliable. Some work and most don't...I am learning. j

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
Hmm, ideas anyone?

Remote Desktop Connection with single Ethernet cable

Hi,
I'd like to be able to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection app to connect to one of my XP machines with my PowerBook. I can do this when everything is running on my home LAN, but I'd like to be able to connect with just a single Ethernet cable connected from my PowerBook's network port to the network card of the XP machine. This would allow me to use the PowerBook as a monitor when I bring the XP machine offsite to run tests (I'm a computer technician). I've played with the Network settings in the System Preferences, but things that would seem to me to work don't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When you're on the road, and these are the only machines connected to each other, you will either need to configure them to have static IP's in the same subnet
192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3
255.255.255.0
no gateway/router IP required.
THey'll need to be in the same workgroup (but you probably have that already)
...or...
Configure the XP machine to be the DHCP server, and the mac to get IP from XP.
(first option is probably better.)
Might need a crossover cable. Might not.

This message will auto pop up also when I don't have plug anything in my iPhone 5, It is very annoying…
The lighting cable is original and now i'm using OS 7.0.4 / iTunes is 11.1.3

I would try using another cable you can likely borrow one to test from somebody
if it's the same then likely the connector in your iphone have been damaged

Hi, I have 10.6.8 and an HP printer so it may be slightly different but I'll give it my best shot:
Go to System Preferences.
Click on "Print & Fax"
Near the top of that page you should see "Print" and "Scan" options. Click "Scan"
A button appears that says "open scanner"
The settings are different between the different scanner models so I'm not sure what the next window will look like, but it should be pretty straightforward from there. It will scan to a JPEG image which you can attach to an email. I hope that helps! Let me know if there's anything ense I can help with.

Connecting with CA-42 Cable doesn't work - OEM

I've got a CA-42 cable I purchased directly from Nokia, so I no it's not one of the junk cables (which I originally purchased on eBay).
I uninstalled all the Nokia related software and then installed the driver for the cable that came with it and then installed the latest version of PC Suite.
My PC recognized the phone when I connected for the first time. But, when I go through the connection wizard in PC Suite, I connect the cable to the PC and then the phone to the Cable and it just basically hangs. The hour glass cursor never goes away, even after 10 minutes.
I thought I read that the first time you try to connnect and synch, it has to load drivers or something, but that doesn't seem to be happening.
Any ideas on why I can't get my phone (Nokia 6101b and 6102b) to PC Suite.

You have to remove all cables before connecting to your computer with micro usb. Power is only connected when using a 3rd gen device and done after the initial connection.
