Connecting with LAN?
I'm having difficulty connecting my G4 desktop to an airport extreme in OS 10.3.9 via the ethernet cable I got nowhere with Apple support... it's a tired old story with them. As soon they realize there's something in the hardware chain that is a legacy product, they get rid of you by stating that they don't support that anymore.
Does anyone know of a guide to do this?
Thanks,
Bob

Limited connectivity with LAN cable & WLan after Win and IE7 update
Dear all,
It's been now 2 days i'm trying to fix a new bug on my Satellite P100. I don't know if it's linked but yesterday I got the automatic install of IE7 and KB (914440 and 915865).
And since the restart of my computer i can't connect to the network neither through the ethernet cable or the wifi one. The network is present but the computer never gets an IP from my router and the dhcp. I have another computer running fine on this router.
When I use configfree util, and try a repair I have a freeze.
I have now unsinstall IE7 and the two KB, zonealarm. But still no changes, i always get this limiting or not existing connectivity.
Do you have any ideas on what I could test ?
Thanks you very much in advance
PhilHi
Hmm. Did you try to reinstall the LAN and WLan drivers???
I found some nice advices in the internet It seems that some MS updates could have a bad influence on some drivers or change the registry entries and therefore some system troubles could appear.
What Lan card did you use?? Intel?? On the Toshiba driver page I found tosh lan driver and intel lan driver so if you use a Intel card you could also check the Intel website for an update.. -

In the office, All my colleges use Windows laptops. The Internet connection is out of LAN wire installed in one of the computers. Others use Internet by creating adhoc connection. However none of the apple products are being able to connect to this connection. How can i connect my MacBook Pro or iPhone 5 to this Internet network?
Just how is the one computer connecting to the internet? What type of connection does the office have, DSL, Cable or is it a Data connection through a Cell phone provider.
I doubt all other computer are doing Ad-Hoc but are probably Sharing the Internet connection with Internet Connection Sharing from that one Windows base PC.
All you khave to do is Connect to that same WiFi SSID name and have the correct password for it. -
Dear,
I'm looking inf. how to connect Agilent Infiniium 54831B scope with LabView 6.0 by LAN (TCP/IP).
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Z.Mrowka
mailto:[email protected]Hello,
If the instrument is capable of being controlled from its TCP/IP port, it will be possible to communicate with the instrument from LabVIEW using VISA.
The VISA resource name input will need to be entered manually and is a little different from the normal Serial or GPIB format. The format is as follows:
For SOCKET connections, this is just like the traditional TCP functionality in LabVIEW. An example string that connects with the NI FTP site is:
"TCPIP::ftp.ni.com::21:OCKET"
For INSTR connection, this requires a device that supports the T&M standard LAN instrument protocol. An example of this (that we have tested with) is the Tektronix 3054 Scope. A string that connects with this scope is: "TCPIP::HostnameOrIP::gpib0,1::INSTR"
I hope this
helps,

Connecting with a computer outside of my LAN
Hi. I have already created a multi-client server that accepts incoming connections from a client program on my LAN. I was wondering how I would modify the client side of the program to connect to a server that is not on my LAN. (ex. you are running the server program on your computer, how do I connect to it with my client program?)
I know that if a person running the server program is behind a NAT, I will need to know their actual IP and they will have to configure their router to port forward. I will then need to use the IP along with the port number that they used to forward with in order to connect with them.
But I don't know how to use that to connect with them in my code. Currently, the client needs to specify the IP address of the person running the server and then I use:
InetAddress.getByName(ipAddress); //ipAddress is the string that they entered for the IP address ex) 192.168.1.1.
When I try using the actual IP address along with the port number they specified, it doesn't seem to work.
InetAddress.getByName(ipAddress); // ex) 68.456.89.23:2000
What do I need to modify or change in order to get this to work? -
Airport express connect with Imac via lan line or can not?
I using IMac with connect to internet with DSL modem router (having 4 lan ports).
Now I put Airport express connect with one of Lan ports from DSL router and still connect my IMac with DSL router via lan line and still connect to internet via lan line (switch off airport function in Imac).
The Airport express is using for provide wireless internet and printer to my other PC.
My Question is can I still set up as above and connect share file to my PC via airport express?
Forget to tell that I'm very newby to mac.chounws, Welcome to the discussion area!
Yes you can do that. Configure the AirPort Express (AX) to operate in bridge mode (not sharing a single IP address). -
E8350 - bad upstream performance when LAN clients connect with 1000mb/s
Our office LAN is all 100/1000mbs capable. Our internet provider is 100 mb/s symmetric internet. We believe we've found an issue with upstream buffering in the E8350.
A) A laptop connecting at 100mb/s directly to the E8350 is able to upload at 80 megabits/s
B) The same laptop, connecting via 1000bt directly to the E8350 only gets 10 megabits/s or so
C) Other laptops connected through our LAN at 1000bt also suffer poor performance
D) Putting an older switch which is only capable of 100mb/s between our 1000bt LAN and the E8350 throttles correctly, and we can obtain higher upload speeds for the entire network.
We suspect that in situations A & C, the E8350 is not throttling/buffering traffic arriving on the 1000bt connection correctly, causing the poor upload speeds.
Firmware version is 1.0.01000bt? what is that? Do you mean 1000Mb? or 1Gb?
Preferred connections with this router is the use of 1000Mb or 1Gb adapters and switches and CAT6 LAN cabling for wired LAN conections. 100Mb could slow down some performance and you'll not be able to use the 1Gb connection pipe.
Is these connections on the wired LAN cables?
Ensure all devices with wired LAN connectons support 1000Mb or 1Gb speeds.
Ensure all devices with LAN adapter cards are updated for dirvers.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

No WLan Connectivity when Lan used with WRT54G
I have a desktop-PC (Win XP-SP2) connected to Lan-port 1 on the WRT54G (v8.00.2)
Every time the PC is on (even at boot prompt) I cannot connect any laptop (win or Linux) via WLan. If a WLan connention is already established when is PC is started, then the connection fails immediately, the network is no more visible in the available network list.
I searched the net as well as this forum and found some aparently similar problems, but never a solution.
Can anyone help, please?Try connecting the different PC to the router hard-wired and check if you are getting the same problem...? If you do not get the same problem then, try to update the driver of the NIC(wired ethernet adapter) on your computer.

Lost connection with Time Capsule (Office for Mac programmes run down)
My colleague and I work at the office with 2 Macbooks. Both are connected wirelessly to the Time Capsule, which we use as a shared hard disk. We use Office 2008 for Mac. Now Word and Excel run down often after of little things like doing a search or cutting and pasting. I get the spinning ball can only do a forced quit to end the program. This is frustrating and time consuming!
A friend told me to change my UID, cause my colleague and I both have the same UID (501) at our Macbooks. He downloaded Server Admin Tools to change my UID into 1001 with Work Group Manager. But when I arrived at the office this morning I didn't have a connection with the Time Capsule. To be able to work I changed the UID back to 501 again (but now I can't open excel document inless I drag them to the hard disk of my Macbook).
The friend is not a Apple professional so he doens’t know how to help me anymore. Does anyone else have a suggestion?Temporarily, try connecting an Ethenret cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule
Open AirPort Utility and Click Manual Setup

my safari doesn't work sometimes, but I connect with the internet. Some of the videos I can't see with the Safari browser, but I can see it with other brower. But my friend can see these videos with her safari. And I can not connect with the app store sometimes.
Before you try to configure the settings on your Router, first thing which you need to do is, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
Connect the Modem to the Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect your computer to the Linksys router on the LAN Port 1. On your Computer click on Start - Run - CMD and click Ok... Now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and hit enter and note down the "IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway" , Now again in the Command Prompt window type "ping default gateway IP" and hit enter and check if you are getting any replies, If yes then you can login to the setup page of the configure all the settings on it from scratch.

Cannot connect to local network while connected with EasyVPN
Hi All,
I'm looking on many forums for an answer, but I cannot get it working.
I have configured EasyVPN with CCP and also with CLI. I had it both working perfect, except the most important thing.
I can connect with the Cisco VPN client to the router, but i'm not able to connect or even ping a system inside the remote network. My laptop gets an IP address from the address pool of the router.
I really hope someone can help me before my manager is losing his patience :-)
Here is my config. (before someone is mentioning it, i have to clean up my config a bit...I mean, look at the acl's )

I have a feeling you should do some NAT excemption for the VPN traffic (deny vpn traffic for nat policies). -
Remote Desktop Connection with single Ethernet cable
Hi,
I'd like to be able to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection app to connect to one of my XP machines with my PowerBook. I can do this when everything is running on my home LAN, but I'd like to be able to connect with just a single Ethernet cable connected from my PowerBook's network port to the network card of the XP machine. This would allow me to use the PowerBook as a monitor when I bring the XP machine offsite to run tests (I'm a computer technician). I've played with the Network settings in the System Preferences, but things that would seem to me to work don't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
KenWhen you're on the road, and these are the only machines connected to each other, you will either need to configure them to have static IP's in the same subnet
192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3
255.255.255.0
no gateway/router IP required.
THey'll need to be in the same workgroup (but you probably have that already)
...or...
Configure the XP machine to be the DHCP server, and the mac to get IP from XP.
(first option is probably better.)
Might need a crossover cable. Might not. -
Competition problem between Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 on Photosmart C5180 connected via LAN
Hello everyone, I am writing because I need some advice / help on a problem last night while configuring a small network.
The network is made up as follows:
2 notebook: Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
3 different printers:
2 USB connected to the respective notebook,
1 HP Photosmart C5180 network printer connected via LAN via a router.
The situation is the following:
both notebooks recognize the various printers and are able to send and print documents but,
when the print command starts from both notebook SIMULTANEOUSLY or at a distance of a few seconds, the only document printed is ALWAYS the one sent from the notebook with WINDOWS 8.1. The other one submitted by WINDOWS 7 IS LOST without being reported.
So if I ask of you is someone experienced in the print queues, print drivers, competition in the print jobs that can help me in solving this problem.
Thanks in advanceHello cesco,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having a communication issue when attempting to print on two separate printers at the same time.
This will be a communication issue for sure. The computer can only send to one printer at a time. You will have to print to one printer, wait for it to finnish the print job and then send it to the other printer.
There is no way that you can print from one computer to two separate printers at the same time.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,

Disable Internet Connection on LAN computers on Linksys E2500
Hi,
I am new here, and going to setting up my router in my small office.
I have a Linksys E2500, and going to disable internet connection on computers that connected via LAN cable.
So, this is how I am going to set my office.
Internet

Hub A Hub B
PC 1 PC 2 PC 3 PC 4
Hub A and Hub B are in different floor.
Do these Hub A and Hub B still give the same range of IP Address from linksys (192.168.1.x) to the PCs below them, like PC 1 got 192.168.1.2, PC 2 got 192.168.1.3 and go on? Can I reserve an static IP Address to each PCs, and disable internet only on PCs below Hub B (PC 3 and PC 4)? I cannot find any controls for disabling internet connection on LAN interface from the E2500 Setup Interface. There are only Wireless MAC Filtering and no LAN MAC Filtering.
If this thing sounds stupid, I am sorry but I have no experience in setting network here. I hope someone can help me out.
Thanks a lot.I agree with FurryNutz. You will need an IP-enabled device for the router block it via Parental Controls. If you have wireless bridge or a manageable switch, you can block that and all the devices connected to it should also be blocked from internet access.
I think you can set Static DNS on the computers under Hub B to 0.0.0.0 which will not allow them to access the internet but are still within the router's local network.
