Connecting WRT160N with DSL in windows 7 ultimate - A big Challenge!

Hello!
Connecting the Router wrt160n v3 with DSL connection in windows 7 ultimate has become a great challenge for me. I have been trying for the last two days. I have read and tried all the suggestions as advised to others in this forum, but unfortunately nothing worked out for me. I reset the router and modem many times. Today I installed the router's firmware from Linksys site but it was a useless effort. The interesting part is the router was working on my PC in windows 7, but for some reason I re-installed the windows and now I can't make it to work again.  I am adding IPCONFIG information below:

Thanks to all who replied. I followed the link from "Toomanydonuts" to make sure that my computer does not have any static ip address and that it runs on DHCP. Regarding the modem, it is "Speedtouch 516"  not specifically provided the serial number. The two bar codes say "DSLBA604NP AAA3" and "17N29T6," made in China. It is provided by my ISP "Primus." My computer does connect to internet without the router. Toomanydonuts also wants the following ip info:

I bought an external hard drive for backups to use with Time Machine, but however when I try to connect it with the other windows laptop it doesn't work ? intact it doesn't work on any other device except my MAC ?

    Do not worry about it.
Time Machine needs that your external drive is formatted in HFS+, or better known as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". This filesystem is used by Apple on Macs and Windows cannot read or write drives formatted with this filesystem, being this the reason why all your devices do not read the external drive except your Mac.
You can only use your external drive to make Time Machine drives. If you store anything different, you may damage the Time Machine structure, so it is better not to use it as a drive to store other data. Instead, get another external drive to do it or create a second partition on the external drive formatted in FAT32 by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html FAT32 can be read by Windows PCs

can i connect iphone with itunes on windows pc?
and if i can, am i going to lose everything if the device is the fisrt time is connecting with this pc?

    Yes you can connect it.
You will only loose everything if you choose to sync. If you don't then no.  But then you won;t be able to do much while connected, as any transfer of data  (music, movies, etc..) will require a sync.

  • Burning issues with itunes and Windows Vista Ultimate

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit version. Since loading itunes on my new computer I can not burn a CD. The message that I receive says that there is no burner available. I know the burner works because I have burned music out of different software programs. I have loaded and reloaded Nero 7 but I am finding that is not the problem. Itunes does not recognize any type of CD burner on my computer. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    paul's onto it.
if you run your DVD/CD diagnostics (in itunes "help > DVD/CD diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics) and you see a 2380 error showing up down near the bottom of the diagnostics (you may need to scroll down a bit), try reinstalling the 64-bit version of the GEAR drivers iTunes uses for importing and burning.
here's a link through to the GEAR drivers. note that there are two different versions of the 64-bit drivers. be sure to get the one that matches your hardware:

  • Will Boot Camp in leopard work with 64 bit Windows Vista Ultimate?

I installed Boot Camp beta in Tiger. Then I installed the 64 bit version of windows Vista Ultimate. Many drivers were not installed such as the keyboard mapping driver. I bought Leopard. Should the version of Boot Camp in Leopard work with the 64 bit Windows Vista Ultimate or would I probably encounter the same driver problems? Should I delete the Windows partition before upgrading to Leopard and then install the 32 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate for all the drivers to work properly?
    Please advise what to do.
Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi,
since the 'new' BootCamp 2.0 also only includes Driver support for the 32-bit Windows versions, you will get a 2nd Encounter.
Is there a specific reason for you to use the 64-bit versions, apart from maybe the 4GB RAM 'issue' ?
Installing the 32-bit version and then the Drivers from the OSX DVD should give you all the drivers needed.

    Stefan

  • Can't print/save PDF with Pagemaker 7, Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit, Mozilla Firefox, NitroPro 5

Pagemaker 7, Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit, Mozilla Firefox, NitroPro 5
Installation of nitro seems to be o.k. Maybe i have the settings wrong in Nitro?
When i go to print in PM7 i am asked to Save and then get an error message from PM7 "General printer failure".
In PM 7 there are several options and i undoubtedly have one of them wrong. When choosing Nitro as the Printer
then i must select a PPD. There are 3 PPD choices and i have tried all of them:
Color General    Adobe PDF 3015.102    General
Tried using the standard Print and the Export options but it was no go. So i've downloaded NitroPro and it appears
as a printer option in PM7 but neither does it work.
    Aint desktop publishing fun, tho!!!!

Yes it's fun but not when you use Pagemaker on a completely unsupported
system. Either find yourself an old WinXP box or move to a new application.
If InDesign isn't your cup of tea, check out Scribus or Serif Page Plus.

  • How to troubleshoot iphone 5s connectivity issue with iTunes on Windows 7

When I connect my new iPhone 5s to my Windows 7 home edition PC with the latest version of iTunes, the PC recognizes it. From My Computer I can see a new item "iPhone", which can be opened to show internal storage (photos). However iTunes never sees my phone. If I run diagnostics from iTunes it reports that no devices are found. In the meanwhile, my iPad can connect and get recognized by iTunes without any problem.
    What is missing?
    Thanks.

Okay I found the solution - I'm still surprised this actually worked - which is to connect the phone through a powered USB hub. That's it! iTunes finally wakes up and syncs my phone!
I hope this helps those who might stumble over the same issue.
    Cheers.

  • Problem connecting wrt300 with DSL

I am having diffuculty with a new wrt300. I cannot even access it with my network connection from my computer to see the address. I want to add this to an exsting wired network using an ATT dsl connection. Any suggestions would help. I tried reseting router and it did not help at all.

1)connect the computer to the router LAN port number 1 ...
2)reset the router for 30 seconds and do a power cycle
3)once the router is rebooted , check whether the computer gets an ip add or not.
4)if yes, check whether it can ping the router..
5)if it can ping the router , access the router using http://192.168.1.1 and make the required configurations
6)if the computer does not receive an ip add or receives ip add as 0.0.0.0 , assign a static ip add on the computer - 192.168.1.10 and check whether it pings the router or not...

  • Stay Connected prompt with DSL

My friend's new MacBook is connected to the internet via a DSL modem. She has no other modem, nor any dial up account. But every thirty minutes she's asked if she wan't to remain connected. I know that feature is part of the Internal Modem set up in the Network preferences, but since she has no internal modem, that preference pane does not appear on her system and therefore can't be turned off. Is there another solution?

I would try going to the Network System Preference and under the Network Port Configurations (Using the "Show:" drop down) turn off all ports except the Ethernet port.
I doubt it's a matter of the DSL modem auto-disconnecting after a time out… though you never know. This mechanism is transparent to the user and will auto-dial/connect when there is demand. The DSL should just drop out after the timeout is reached as there are no call cost in reconnecting.
