Connecting Youview box to DVD and TV. Now ordinary...

Hi, Does anyone know how to connect a TV, BT Youview box and a DVD recorder together.  I have two SCART, one RF and one Aerial connection together but now we cannot watch our ordinary TV.  I need this for my son.  It is probably a simple connection error but we can't work it out.  Any help greatly appreciated

Put the aerial feed in to the YouView box 'antenna in' and connect a cable from the YouView 'aerial out' to the 'aerial in' on your TV. Connect YouView box HDMI out to HDMI socket on your TV if you have one. If not connect the YouView to SCART to your TV SCART. Connect your DVD player to the other SCART socket.
Use the AV setting on your TV to switch to the YouView box and:
Go in to you YouView menu as follows:
YouView/Settings/Device Management and make sure 'RF Loop Through' is set to ON.
This will allow you to access your own TV's tuner and YouView also.
Use the 'AV' setting on your TV to switch between TV's own tuner, YouView and your DVD player.
HDMI is preferable but if you don't have any HDMI sockets - and most TVs do these days - then SCART will have to do.
I hope you get it working.

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

  • Connecting Youview+ box

    Hi,
I am sure there have been several of these threads but I am hoping people can help!
I am trying to work out the best way to connect several items together to get the best sound / image quality.
This is my current set up:
ISIS TV (hopefully not related to the Islamic terrorist group) with 2xHDMI ports none of which are ARC. SPDIF, Coax.Out, Headphones and Side AV.
Philips HTL5120 Soundbar with 2xHDMI in & 1x HDMI out (ARC), optical and digital (coaxial) and red/white cable spots.
The DVD player is a LOGIK L2HDVD12 with 1xHDMI out and 1x coaxial cable.
This simply leaves the BT youview box with 1xHDMI out, SPDIF, Aerial in, Aerial out, Red white & yellow channels.
Can I get them all connected and communicating with each other so the sound comes from the soundbar? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in anticipation,
    Chris

    Hi,
    Have you tried:
    DVD -> Soundbar over HDMI
    YouView -> Soundbar over HDMI
    Soundbar -> TV over HDMI

  • YouView box horribly slow and keeps losing signal.

We've had our box for several months now and have been generally happy with it.
Over the last few weeks though it has become almost unusable. The following problems exist:
It is very slow to respond to commands from the remote. Press a button and nothing happens for several seconds. Then the requested action begins but then freezes again; as an example if I press "3" to change to channel three nothing happens for several seconds. Then the number 3 appears on the screen and again nothing further happens for up to 20 seconds before the channel finally switches over.
The channel guide has become veerrryyyy slooowww... Again it takes several seconds for the guide to appear after which it hangs on"loading" for ages, sometimes for ever.
Finally. Several times a week on switching on from standby an error message tells us there is no signal. And the only way to recover from this is to do a hard power off and switch back on. Once this is done the box is OK for 1 to 3 days before the same fault recurs.
There is no signal problem as verified by other devices that receive the same signal in other locations in the house.
The box is currently virtually unusable and has been so for a free weeks now. It's a shame because up till then it's been pretty good.
How do we resolve these issues?

  • Still photographs to dvd and tv playback ?

I have yet to burn a dvd that I can use or like... I've made many "test" dvd's and all of them seem to have flicker in some of the still images that have white areas and the end product seems to be slightly soft (NOT VERY SHARP IMAGES )...
I have used iphoto, imovie and idvd to make these dvd's. When I view the end project on my Mac G5 from my hard drive, in iphoto it works and looks great !
When I try and finish the job it goes down hill from there. Is it the compression that is making the quility go south ?
I see shows on tv that look GREAT as still images. No flicker and sharp still images...What do I need to do to get great quility from a burned dvd and still images ?

  • Connect HDTV to VCR DVD combo device and Motorola 7101 Cable Box

Hi all, first post.  Am not too saavy re: new technology.  Iam trying to connect my Panasonic VCR DVD combo to my TV:  Sony HDTV and Verizon 7101 Cable box.  Should be fairly straightforward but being technologically illiterate it is very challenging.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks   Jergen

There are usually several choices. If your DVD/VCR has S- inputs and outputs, the preference is to run S-Video cables from the cable box to the DVD/VCR, and from the DVD/VCR to the TV set (that will be another input on the TV). The S-VHS connections will provide the best standard definition video quality.
The audio is more complicated. I ended up using Y cables so that I could split L and R audio outputs into two L and two R audio outputs. , one set runs to the TV, the other  set to the VCR/DVD audio inputs.. You will need to run Audio cables from the DVD/VCR from the audio outputs on the VCR/DVD to the audio inputs that correspond to the S-video input you are using for video from the VCR/DVD to the TV.
Generally you have to enable the S-vide input on the DVD/VCR if it has one, and it usually an option with an Aux input.
If you DVD/VCR unit doesn't support S-Video input, then you run a cable from the composite video output on the Cable box to the composite input on the DVD/VCR. You still have to split the audio. If it doesn't have S-VHS input, it may not have S-VHS output, in which case you run composite video to the TV in addition to the audio cables.
IF neither of those are appealing to you, the cable box also output SD TV on either Channel 3 or 4 (your choice), and you can just run a coaxial cable connection from the cable box to the DVD/VCR instead of the Audio and Video cabling, you can also run a coaxial cable from the DVD/VCR to the TV's antenna input and tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 (your choice, determined by whatever channel the DVD/VCR is set to output on). If you use Coaxial cable, whatever links you use it with do not need the AV cables, however the picture quality will be substantially lower than S-Video, and somewhat lower than the composite video.

  • Why can't I use a Vision+ and a YouView Box

    Hi,
I'm with BT and pay £5 a month for BT Vision. I have their YouView box in one room. They only allow BT Sport on the YouView box if you have fibre and there's no fibre in my area. I asked BT if I could run a YouView box and BT Vision box at the same time and they said no. I ordered a BT Vision Card for a tenner via the online BT shop and bought a BT Vision+ box off eBay for 99p. My assumption was that I couldn't run both boxes at the same time (ie connected to the hub)......not a problem I can only watch one TV at a time!
I've disconnected the YouView from the BT Hub and connected the Vision+ Box but I get a C03 message saying my Vision+ isn't activated. Am I right in thinking BT must be able to activate one of two Vision services depending on the box? My initial assumption was that only one box could physically be connect at any one time.
Has anyone else experienced similar? Is there any way around this? Seems unfair as I am a BT Vision customer, I am paying £5 a month and if I want to watch BT Sport I have to give up my YouView box. BT say I can watch their channel via the web.....not being funny but a simple google search and I could watch their channel without even needing to sign up!!!!!
    Thanks
    Louis

It sounds like the 99p BT Vision+ box is running the Classic software rather than the New Look software. This is something you really should have checked before buying a second hand box. Once such boxes are deactivated they are effectively a door-stop unless BT choose to reactivate them. The box would need to be reactivated and then BT would need to send the New Look software upgrade to it in order for you to be able to use the viewing card for BT Sport.
I don't know, but suspect that BT would be reluctant to activate and upgrade a box that wasn't issued to you directly by them. They have been gradually turning off the Classic software over the last year or so and it involves older licensing agreements with Microsoft and content providers. Plus it might cause the central system problems now that you have a newer BT Youview box associated with your account. I suppose there's no harm in asking though?

  • Loss of Youview box to TV connection

My Youview box frequently loses connection to my tv. Generally it works normally but it will often lose sound and picture and a "nosignal"message will appear on my tv screen. This may last for anything from a few seconds to half an hour or more. it will eventually rectify itself and work normally again. On some occasions it will lose partial connection and just show a faint picture with no sound. My hdmi connections are secure and as far as I can tell there is no fault with my tv.

    welcome to the forum -
    a few questions.
the no signal message - can you confirm that is one generated by the TV rather than a Youview error message that is being displayed on the TV screen ? (A youview error message ought to have an error code )
when the problem occues have you noticed the Youview box getting hot ?

  • Ethernet connections YouView and tv

I've replaced a 5 year old Bravia tv with a new 42"; the old Tv didn't have an ethernet connection but my YouView box was connected by a Powerline adapter. The new Tv has an ethernet connection, but how do I handle that connection and the one on the YouView box-do they somehow interconnect or do I need another Powerline?

    Hi there,
All you would need is a Ethernet hub behind the back of your TV, similar to when people used to have one USB port you could plug in a 4 way adapter and plug other usb devices into it.
You can pick up a Ethernet hub pretty cheaply, all you do is plug the cable from the powerline to the ethernet hub and plug another cable from the youview box and another cable from TV to ethernet hub.  You can enjoy internet access on both tv and youview.
    hope this helps!

  • YouView box does not re-connect to network after l...

My youview box does not re-connect to the network after the home hub has dropped out. The original message I put in regarding this was moved to the BT Infinity Speed/Connection Issues forum but I still think this is an issue here. Is connectivity still an issue with the youview box or am I facing a problem? I have to restart youview whenever there has been an issue. I'd like not to have to do that. It should realise (several hours after the hub has restarted) that the network is present and use it.

You should be able to just go into settings and redetect the network - try this before performing a full power off
Tried successfully. Don't know why I never tried it before. It's a lot easier than rebooting the box
Get used to doing it on a regular basis especially as the HH5 reboots at least every 30 days

  • YouView+ box HD channels cutting in and out

    Hi,
I have just set up my YouView+ box I recieved today but when i try to view any of the HD channels i can view the channel for a few seconds then the picture breaks up and then cuts out completly for a brief second then it reappears then shows for a moment pixelates then cuts out again over and over.
In the TV Signal & Quality section the Signal strength shows between 52% and 58% and the Signal Quality is at 100%.
When the picture cuts out the readings in the Tv Signal & Quality window reset to zero and then it comes back again over and over.
I have tried re-tuning the box several times and I have reset the box to its default several times but the problem stll happens.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
Thanks for the advice, i tried that solution but it was still failing to show HD channels correctly after a re-scan.
I have now solved the problem. In the Aerial system i have an amplifying distribution box in the loft.
I bypassed this distribution/amplifyer and now the siginal strength shows a steady 65% and signal quality is 100%
and all the HD channels are now displaying correctly.
hopefully this might help someone with the same issue.
