Connection between MacBook Air and iphone 3gs through a hub isn't good

Several times the connection between my computer and iphone has stopped or cancelled saying that the iphone had been disconnected. But nothing had been touched! Why?

Plug the iPhone directly into the MBA. If your going to use a hub make sure it's a powered hub, the hub itself should have it's own power cord. If it's powered by the USB port then your going to have issues.

AirDrop for OS X works over Wi-Fi, and AirDrop for iOS works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so they use different systems.
This means that you cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. Instead, you can only use AirDrop on your iPhone to transfer files to other iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, and AirDrop on your Mac to transfer files to other Macs

This is not a feature of iphone. Never has been.
Other than tethering for internet, where provided by the carrier, you cannot connect to a computer/device/phone and do anything.
Bluetooth is for handsfree telephone devices/headsets, stereo speakers/headsets, some keyboards, some peer to peer apps from the app store and tethering where provided by the carrier.

The iPhone is not designed to pair with a computer via Bluetooth. It supports only a very limited set of Bluetooth profiles: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support

You may want to look at AirDrop. It does require Bluetooth to be on but the devices do not need to pair: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support

Connection between Macbook Air and Epson SX600FW scanner

I have recently transferred to newly acquired MacBook Air. In order to wirelessly connect to my printer scanner, I loaded the software on the Mac via a generic DVD player: this seemed successful. However, if I try to access the scanner through the App screen the message comes up "Can't open: Power PC apps are no longer supported. Despite this I am able to access it via System Preferences/ Scanners & cameras.
Why is this and is it correct that Power PC appsa re not supported. Am I doing anything wrong. Thanks for any advice.

Go to the manufacturer's website and see if you can download newer software. The software you have installed is very old and doesn't run on Apple computers made since about 2006.

Connection between Macbook Air and Dell 24" u2142m monitor?

I have a Macbook air recently purchased and have connected it through the thunderbolt port via DVI adapter to a Dell Monitor. The display appears but no icons or content. What do I need to do. The screen came with a CD with drivers and user guide but I think this may be for Windows and I don't have a cd drive. Suggestions please?

so you see an actual desktop wallpaper on the monitor? if so, just drag windows over there and open displays in system preferences to make sure the arrangement is correct
if no image at all, i would actually connect the monitor with a mDP to DP cable much better than using a dvi adapter, you can find them online like monoprice

IMessage stopped syncing between MacBook Air and iPhone 5

Hello,
Until the weekend my iMessages synced between iphone and MacBook Air, but from Monday I have been sending and receiving iMessgaes from my phone which never arrive at the MacBook. I didn't get the iOS upgrade till yesterday so it's not that, and haven't knowingly made any other changes over the weekend. I've checked both setups and both are syncing using my phone number plus 3 email addresses.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it please?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so:
Apple - My Apple ID
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Sign out on the iPhone
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage.
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

I cannot sync iCal between MacBook Air and iPhone!

My appointments just does not sync. When I make an appointment on iPhone it does not get into iCal on my Macbook. And appointments made on Macbook does not get into iCal on the iPhone when syncing. I use to work. I checked the sync calender tab in iTunes. Any ideas?

Only some iMessages sync between Macbook Air and iPhone?

Not sure what the deal is. I've been iMessaging a friend of mine on my phone for a couple days and the phone messages are all still there, but only a few of the messages synced with my Macbook once I started using it to message her. I have a couple more convos that have been exclusively on my phone, the last message showing on the Macbook is three days old even though I've messaged them on my phone since then. I've tried logging in and out of iMessage on both devices, not sure what to do about it.

I have a Macbook Pro and am having difficulty printing documents from ‘Pages' from my Hp Deskjet 1510. I have installed the necessary software for the printer and it is connected via USB. Every time I try to print the printer icon comes up as it should, 'printing' and then 'job completed' and then the icon disappears. (Nothing is printed.) I thought it might be something to do with Pages compatibility with the printer but exporting the document to Word or making it a PDF doesn’t change anything. I don’t have Microsoft Word on my computer. The scanner does work and when I printed a ‘Test Page’ that worked too.
Let me know if you know why this is happening.

With these settings the network now works flawlessly, however, when i have my ethernet cable plugged in, my internet access via my airport card(on the macbook pro) is no longer available. Hoping you can tell me why this would be with this info i've provided.
Educated guess. The networking devices have priorities as to which are used. The standard order is that Ethernet has a higher priority than Airport.
While your Ethernet is unplugged it is inactive and the Mac ignores it. Once you plug it in, the Mac sees that it is active and switches traffic to that interface.
I actually take advantage of this feature at home, but configuring my Airport and Ethernet with identical fixed IP addresses. Normally I'll use Airport, but if I'm copying a huge file and I want faster performance, I'll just walk my MacBook (previously iBook, previously Powerbook) over to my Ethernet switch and plug in my MacBook. Magically, the Mac detects that the Ethernet is active and continues the file transfer uninterrupted over the faster 100baseT Ethernet connection. When the transfer is finished, or if I really need to move back to the Comfy Chair, I unplug the Ethernet cable, and all activity reverts back to the Airport, all without disrupting any existing networking connections.
You on the other hand have totally different settings for your Ethernet and your Airport, so when you switch to Ethernet, you basically loose your Airport connections.
Something you can try:
System Preferences -> Network
Gear icon on the bottom left, next to the [+] [-] icons.
Select *Set Service Order...*
Now Drag the network interfaces into the perfer priority order you want. In this case put Airport above Ethernet.
NOTE: You may want to create a new Network Location for this, instead of messing with your normal home Location (which is most likely the default Automatic. That way you have your original you can always fall back to.

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

You can't!
Alternativley you can use DropBox to send items over WiFi (free) or sync both with iTunes and drag & drop items in the Apps tab of each device.
