Connection drop when transfer large file

We are using a IBM T40 (with 802.11b build-in). We are able to surf web and ping successfully. Once we transfer large file, the connection just drop and the debug log from the AP1200 shows:
Dec 18 10:39:57.095 H: %DOT11-4-MAXRETRIES: Packet to client xxxx.xxxx.xxxx reached max retries, removing the client
Dec 18 10:39:57.095 H: %DOT11-6-DISASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, Deauthenticating Station xxxx.xxxx.xxxx Reason: Previous authentication no longer valid
However, when we try using Cisco 350 PCMCIA cards and Orinoco, there is no problem with the large file transfer.
We have upgraded the driver to the latest version.
Any help. Thks

This type of error is usually because of RF interference. When the AP sends a packet to the client, the client must ACK this packet back to the AP, if the AP receives no ACK from the client, it will resend this packet. It will continue this process for 16 times (default config) before assuming the client is off the network now (person moved out of range or powered off their computer) and will remove the client from its association table. I would verify coverage via a site survey, looking at not only signal strength, but also signal quality

  • Can't transfer large files with remote connection

    Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out why we can't transfer large files (< 20MB) over a remote connection.
The remote machine is a G5 running 10.4.11, the files reside on a Mac OS X SATA RAID. We are logged into the remote machine via afp with an administrator's account.
We can transfer files smaller than 20 MB with no problem. When we attempt to transfer files larger than 20 MB, we get the "The operation can't be completed because you don't have sufficient permissions for some of the items."
We can transfer large files from the remote machine to this one (a Mac Pro running 10.4.11) no problem.
The console log reports the following error:
NAT Port Mapping (LLQ event port.): timeout
I'm over my head on this one - does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    David

I tried both these things with no luck.
The mDNSResponder starts up right after the force quit - is this right?
The following is the console log, which differs from the previous logs where we had the same problem:

  • Unable to transfer large files from MB to External HDs

    Hi,
This may be an unusual one. My 1st edition Macbook won't let me transfer large files to my external hard-drives, either by USB, Ethernet or wirelessly through my home wi-fi network.
I've started video editing so I'm importing DVcam tapes through firewire from the camera. A full DV tape translates to about 8-12gb I think.
Using iMovie and saving the import to my Freecom 3.5inch network harddrive vis USB or ethernet, it fails saying 'Unexpected error, error code 1309'.
When I try quicktime pro instead to import the tape to the external HD, I get 'Operation could not be completed, An attempt to add a resource to the file failed'. This happens too with my WD 2.5inch external drive.
However, there is no such problem when I import to the MB's internal harddrive. When I then try and shift the large file off the laptop to an external drive, via USB, ethernet of wirelessly, for editing and save keeping, it fails half way through.
I have the same problem when I try back-up my 17gb virtual windows machine I use with VMware fusion off the laptop to an external drive.
I am currently burning an 18gb iMovie project from the MB's internal HD, over 5 DVDs using Toast's disc-spanning and will reimport them to the external, which is really time consuming.
Also to note, Final Cut Express doesn't have these problems as it seems to break up what would be an 18gb movie file into several smaller files, which my MB is quiet happy to let go onto an external drive. However, the problem re-emerges on Final Cut Ex when I try and import a HDV tape. Possibly FCE isn't breaking them up into small enough pieces for my MB to handle?
Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? Or does this mean a new laptop?

I'm a bit late to the party, but specifically there's a 4GB file size limit in the FAT32 format that is standard on many external hard drives. I've run across this problem before, and usually it copies over most of the file and then quits when it reaches the limit.

  • Privileges problem when transferring large files

This just happened, and I don't know what changed. I cannot transfer large files from my Macbook Pro to my MacPro desktop, neither on the network nor by a USB hard drive. I get the infamous "You do not have sufficient privileges" message. The files start copying, and after about 1gb or so, the message pops up. Small files no problem, there's no restriction on those. It does not matter which disk I am trying to copy it to.
I thought it was just a problem with iMovie files and folders (these get big fast), but it seems to be an issue with any large file. I have repaired permissions on both disks, I have made sure that the unlock key is unlocked and that all the boxes are checked "Read & Write".
And this problem just arose today. Nothing has changed, so far as I know.

I assume I am always logged in as administrator because I have never logged in as anything else. It also does not matter from what folder, or even disk drive, I am trying to transfer from. If the file is above a certain size, it stops transferring and I get the error.
What interests me is not that I immediately get the "insufficient privileges" error when I try and transfer a forbidden folder or file. I've seen that. This happens after about a gig of data has transferred over already, then that error pops up.

  • Connections drop when using Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client

Folks I have a strange issues. I have a few laptops that I'm testing using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Network Access Manager. We like the interface and overall are happy, but have one nagging issue. Periodically the connection drops when using the client, and the only way to reconnect is to choose the Network repair option on the client. That fixes it just fine, but we shouldn't have to do this. The same clients using the built in WIndows supplicant do not have this problem. We are on version 3.0.07059.

Right now I'm testing on a single access point (autonomous) with WEP! The same laptop works fine without the Cisco client. Usually it is several hours, 12 or more when it happens, but I've seen it less than that. And I've seen it up for over a day and a half. At this point I just don't trust the client to roll out to a larger audience.

  • How to transfer large files(1GB) to pc

How to transfer large files(1GB) to pc

Or possibly alternatively, and if really desperate, upload it to file distribution service like Fileserve or Rapidshare and then download it from the other machine (and then delete the upload).  Many of these services have a free mode although they may have size limitations and they certainly throttle the download speed down (Rapidshare may be one of the worse, Fileserve one of the best).  Personally I never tried something the size of 3GB.  What I do see is that stuff that large is generally broken up into multiple files to get around the size limitations and to be glued together when all the parts are downloaded.
Just throwing this "out there" as an alternative but as I said, you probably would need to really be desparate to go this route

  • Transfer large files

    Hi all,
When transferring large files to an external HD (CalDigit) via firewire 800, the transfer will quit part way through. This happens on a consistent basis with files larger than 3 or 4 gigs. However, transferring via firewire 400 is seamless. I have experienced this using other external HDs so I know its not the HD. Any suggestions? Maybe a faulty firewire 800 port on my iMac?
    Jared
p.s. its not the firewire 800 cable either - i've tried mulitple cables.

Hi, can I ask what are you transferring, images? Data? Music?
the reason I ask is that sometimes some images from iPhoto will not transfer (it depends on format) some iTunes will not transfer, depends on origin, never had any problems with data.
Have called Apple Help? ask to talk to a specialist...L

  • TS1368 when downloading large files such as videos of television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting

when downloading large files such as videos of a television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting? And if so, if the download will take a significant amount of time (not sure how much offhand) how do you prevent burn in from prolonged screen image?

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

  • Stor.E TV+ doesn't transfer large file or large selection of files

    Hi Everyone,
I've just bought a Stor.E TV+ 2TB and I've found a very noisy problem related to file transfers from PC to the HDD trough the LAN (wired &/or wireless).
The unit doesn't transfer large file or large selection of files and hangs the PC process.
Does anyone knows if there's an update firmware or a workaround to solve this?
Looking forward to read from someone.
    Thanks

  • Broadband connection drops when a phone call is re...

    Hi
I am new to this forum so please let me know if I don't supply all the necessary information.
For a couple of months now we have had a consistent problem with the broadband connection dropping when an incoming phone call is received, prior to this it had been fine for a long time.  After making the normal user checks, as recommended by BT, the problem persisted.  A BT engineer visited my house and was able to reproduce the fault at the master socket.  He traced the line back, via the manholes under the street to a connection box outside the village.  After working hard for four hours he seemed to have fixed the fault and was able to demonstrate streaming video uninteruppted by an incoming call.  He told me that he had solved the problem by re-routing the line, he also replaced the mark 2 router with a mark 3 router.  Twenty four hours later the problem returned and is again absolutely consistent - even with just the router connected to the master socket the broadband light will go out when an incoming call is received.  On phoning the helpline I was told that there was a problem at the exchange, which should be fixed within 24 hours, but it wasn't and I didn't hear back.  Further investigation showed that both of these issues had been marked as resolved.  We are a long way from the exchange and have had a history of problems with both the line itself and the exchange.  In the past the hard working BT engineers have always managed to get things sorted out when they have visited.
This time I am struggling, as I can't seem to find the right approach to BT to persuade them to build on the work that the engineer who came out so recently did - I always seem to end up describing the problem from the beginning and then being told that it is my internal wiring that is at fault, nobody will acknowledge any of the work that has been done by the engineer that visited or the person that approached the exchange.
Sorry for such a long post, but it is very frustrating - I have considered changing the phone number so that nobody can make any incoming calls, but then I would have no phone!!
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    Hi John
Thank you for your very prompt response.  Clicking on that link does not show up any problems in my area or with my line.  I have limited technical knowledge, but what you say about high resistance does fit the facts.  We have had a lot of problems over the years, most of which have been traced back to faults between the box at the edge of the villagae and our house - we have had the line replaced more than once, although I'm not exactly sure what that involved.  In the past the fault that recurred was very slow speed and dropping of the broadband connection, this is different now in that the speed is actually now quite good for our area, but the connection drops when a phone call is made or received.  I did have the fault logged with BT, but it has now disappeared from "track faults" without being resolved.
When everything is working it is a very good service.  My friend in an isolated village in North Wales had BT broadband as soon as his local exchange was enabled.  It has provided faultless service ever since, at a higher speed than I can get on the outskirts of a major city.
Thanks for the support, it has made me feel much less isolated - I'll keep reporting it.
    Regards
    Richard

  • Remote Desktop Connection Drops when opening a large file or Transferring a large file

I am running a Dell R720 Windows 2008 R2 Server. When I open a Large PDF or transfer a large file to the server, the server drops the remote desktop connection. I do not see any errors and no events are reported. I can access the server via
iDRAC 7 enterprise and the server is still up and functioning properly; however, the remote desktop connection can only be restored after the server is rebooted. I have read the following article below do not see any conflicts.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2477133/en-us
That said, the issue happens when:
    1. opening a large PDF
    2. Using a UNC path to transfer a large file
    3. Using Hyper-V to import a .VHD (another large file)
Any help is appreciated - Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does this issue facing for single user or multiple users?
Have you tried on other system? IS it, facing same issue.
From description it seems network issue, please check whether there is any drop for network connection or it works on low bandwidth. You need to see there is no loss from bandwidth perspective. There are other certain reason which can drop the connection or
performance as remote desktop works on many different points.
For try you can autotune disable and check with following command.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
    To renable follow beneath command
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
When you are remote desktop to the remote server, please set the connection speed accordingly to optimize performance and might it will resolve your case of dropping connection.

  • "Not connected to internet" error only when uploading large files.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem that occurs when im uploading large files to any of my servers....
The files upload just fine but while im uploading im unable to use the internet for anything else. For example if I try to open a web page I get an error saying im not connected to the internet. This error will persist until the file finishes uploading.
Its a strange and annoying problem and was wondering if anybody could throw any light on the problem.
I cant be sure but it may have coincided with me connecting a new Netgear wireless modem router.
    Many thanks
    Matt

Hi Sorry, only just noticed your reply. Didn't get an email alert like I usually do.
Thanks for that. To be honest I have no idea what QOS is but I will take a look at the routers settings to see if it makes sense to me.
    Thanks
    Matt

  • Lost connection between airport extreme and macbook air when transferring large files

    Can anyone help...?
I have an imac and macbook air wirelessly connected to a airpot extreme being used as a router with a hard drive for sharing files accross the network.
It connects ok but when we try and look at a number of large files one after the other, or copy files from the shared hard drive onto the macbook air, the macbook loses wireless connection?
A very strange issue which i cant figure out....
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Shirmy

It could be a wireless interference or strength of wireless signal issue.
What happens when you connect the MacBook Air to the router via an Ethernet connection?

  • WiFi breaks when transferring large file over LAN

Hi guys,My WiFi mostly behaves itself, however if I try to transfer a large file (The last one was ~1GB) over the LAN (standard SMB file copy), WiFi drops out. It gets roughly 30MB through before connectivity is lost. The WiFi continues to show as connected, but I cannot even ping my router.Only disconecting and reconnecting WiFi re-establishes the connection.Any idea what's up? (My router is the black 'home hub' style. I can't find any version information in it's admin panel.) (And before someone asks, no I'm not telling you the contents of the file as it isn't relevant. With the greatest of respect, if you just ask unrelated questions to pry, please don't waste everyones time.)

Didn't think of that, thanks. Great workaround.I'm going to call Sky, see if they have any firmware updates or other solution. Surely they wouldn't leave such a big knows issue unfixed. I'll report back with what they say. Edit:Just got off the phone from Sky technical support. This issue was first reported Nov/Dec 2014.The chap I spoke to does not know of a fix, or whether a fix is being worked on, or if a fix will ever be worked on.He has not way of contacting the development team to find out any of this information. He said firmware updates are pushed out to routers every now and again. He does not know when this is going to happen and does not have a way to notify about firmware updates installed on my router. (This terrifies me. Sky have a backdoor into my router and can install any code they wish, without even telling me what they changed/installed). There is no way to turn these auto-updates off either. Here's a key thing he did say though:He said he was not at liberty to provide my ADSL credentials, but if I chose to extract them from the router and install my own router instead, they would not have any problem with that. When I told him that this was against their TOS and they could terminate my contract for doing this, he went silent and just said "errr..." Allowing Sky, their subcontractors and anyone else they choose to install any code they wish to my router whenever they please and have free open access to my entire LAN is a total deal breaker for me. That router is getting unplugged today and I'm putting a new router on the credit card. I told tech support this. I said if they have a problem with that, let's go the legal route. I literally have a recorded call where they give me permission to install my own router.
