Connection dropping when phone is answered and cra...

Hi,
A problem has started today, which I suspect is caused by the line.
When the phone is answered, the internet connection is lost and the router (BT Home Hub 5 - Type A) starts flashing orange and continues to do this until the call ends then after a few minutes a connection is restored.
Also, when the phone is in use, there is crackling on the line.

Have you tried the quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 you should hear no noise if you can hear noise then it needs reporting to BT faults on 151 with no mention of broadband in the call

  • Wrt160n wireless connection drops when phone calls come in

I operate 2 laptops on Vista and 1 desktop on XP . I have cable connection for intenet and phone. When a phone call comes in, my connection drops on all 3 computers. Comcast has told me I have the same freceuncy for my phone and internet, therefore, I need to change the frecuency on my modem? or router? using my ethernet cable connected directly to the router (? ).
I am trying to download the wizard but get no where. I went to the default IP address 192.168.1.1  mentioned in the owners manual, left USER name blank, and wrote admin on password, and can't get in, all I get is Not Authorized.
How can I manage to change the freceuncy to avoid my connection from being lost every single time someone calls us thru the home phone, or I pick up the phone to make  call?
    Help please!!!

If the admin password is not working then, you have to reset the router.Reset the router for 20 seconds and then, try to open the setup page..On the setup page,Under the Wireless tab,Change the Channel Width to 20MHz only and Channel to 11.

  • Connections drop when using Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client

Folks I have a strange issues. I have a few laptops that I'm testing using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Network Access Manager. We like the interface and overall are happy, but have one nagging issue. Periodically the connection drops when using the client, and the only way to reconnect is to choose the Network repair option on the client. That fixes it just fine, but we shouldn't have to do this. The same clients using the built in WIndows supplicant do not have this problem. We are on version 3.0.07059.

Right now I'm testing on a single access point (autonomous) with WEP! The same laptop works fine without the Cisco client. Usually it is several hours, 12 or more when it happens, but I've seen it less than that. And I've seen it up for over a day and a half. At this point I just don't trust the client to roll out to a larger audience.

  • Broadband connection drops when a phone call is re...

    Hi
I am new to this forum so please let me know if I don't supply all the necessary information.
For a couple of months now we have had a consistent problem with the broadband connection dropping when an incoming phone call is received, prior to this it had been fine for a long time.  After making the normal user checks, as recommended by BT, the problem persisted.  A BT engineer visited my house and was able to reproduce the fault at the master socket.  He traced the line back, via the manholes under the street to a connection box outside the village.  After working hard for four hours he seemed to have fixed the fault and was able to demonstrate streaming video uninteruppted by an incoming call.  He told me that he had solved the problem by re-routing the line, he also replaced the mark 2 router with a mark 3 router.  Twenty four hours later the problem returned and is again absolutely consistent - even with just the router connected to the master socket the broadband light will go out when an incoming call is received.  On phoning the helpline I was told that there was a problem at the exchange, which should be fixed within 24 hours, but it wasn't and I didn't hear back.  Further investigation showed that both of these issues had been marked as resolved.  We are a long way from the exchange and have had a history of problems with both the line itself and the exchange.  In the past the hard working BT engineers have always managed to get things sorted out when they have visited.
This time I am struggling, as I can't seem to find the right approach to BT to persuade them to build on the work that the engineer who came out so recently did - I always seem to end up describing the problem from the beginning and then being told that it is my internal wiring that is at fault, nobody will acknowledge any of the work that has been done by the engineer that visited or the person that approached the exchange.
Sorry for such a long post, but it is very frustrating - I have considered changing the phone number so that nobody can make any incoming calls, but then I would have no phone!!
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    Hi John
Thank you for your very prompt response.  Clicking on that link does not show up any problems in my area or with my line.  I have limited technical knowledge, but what you say about high resistance does fit the facts.  We have had a lot of problems over the years, most of which have been traced back to faults between the box at the edge of the villagae and our house - we have had the line replaced more than once, although I'm not exactly sure what that involved.  In the past the fault that recurred was very slow speed and dropping of the broadband connection, this is different now in that the speed is actually now quite good for our area, but the connection drops when a phone call is made or received.  I did have the fault logged with BT, but it has now disappeared from "track faults" without being resolved.
When everything is working it is a very good service.  My friend in an isolated village in North Wales had BT broadband as soon as his local exchange was enabled.  It has provided faultless service ever since, at a higher speed than I can get on the outskirts of a major city.
Thanks for the support, it has made me feel much less isolated - I'll keep reporting it.
    Regards
    Richard

  • Internet Connection drops when incoming telephone ...

On 14th December 2011 during a period of very high winds and heavy rain an incoming telephone call caused the internet connection to drop and it eventually restored itself after about 2 hours. When I answer a call the internet connection drops after about 30 seconds and then reconnects after about a further 40 seconds. All incoming local calls cause the internet connection to drop. As far as I can tell incoming calls from other exchanges seem to be OK. Incoming calls from mobile phones sometimes cause the internet connection to drop. The line is unaffected by outgoing telephone calls. I have a BT HomeHub 2B plugged into an upstairs telephone socket and connected by ethernet to my PC. I have another telephone socket downstairs, each socket is fitted with a filter. I have have tried every combination of my two standard telephones and 4 filters in each socket and every local call causes the internet connection to drop and reconnect. I think it very unlikely that both phones and 4 filters have become faulty at the exactly the same time. I have connected the Home Hub and telephone with a filter to the test socket and asked a friend on the local exchange to call me and the internet connection dropped and reconnected as before. Since moving to this house 2 years ago I have had four previous interruptions to the broadband service all of which were caused by problems probably at the exchange. The last one took 8 days to correct after countless calls to the "Help Line". Their fall back position is always to assume that there is no problem with the BT line. So I am not even going to try to explain this over the telephone. This is the information on the BT Home Hub Event Log, it is typical for every occurrence of the problem. Dec 26 11:42:42 2011 ERR 2011-12-26T11:42:42Z cwmp: mt_cwmp: session error: Could not resolve host Dec 26 11:43:19 2011 (1035438.010000) RTNL: Received ERROR reply 'No such process' for message type 0x19 Is this a problem with the Homehub, the line, or at the exchange?

not sure I read your post correctly but are you saying if someone from another exchange phones then the broadband is ok and it only drops if someone from your own exchange phones?
if the possible sollution from chris6273 does not work, and you have already tried the test socket then I would contact the mods for assistance  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951
the mods can take up to 3 days to reply

  • I drop my phone in water and it wont power back on

I drop my phone in water and it won't power back on?

    Yes, that is very possible.
Water and electronics do not mix. You'll most likely have to buy a new phone.

    Hello manleyjohn,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are unable to hear callers though the receiver on your iPhone 4 unless you change the sound to the speaker. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and verifying that the troubleshooting steps have been completed. If the issue continues, it may be necessary to follow the link towards the bottom of the article and contact Apple Support.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Drops when opening a large file or Transferring a large file

I am running a Dell R720 Windows 2008 R2 Server. When I open a Large PDF or transfer a large file to the server, the server drops the remote desktop connection. I do not see any errors and no events are reported. I can access the server via
iDRAC 7 enterprise and the server is still up and functioning properly; however, the remote desktop connection can only be restored after the server is rebooted. I have read the following article below do not see any conflicts.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2477133/en-us
That said, the issue happens when:
    1. opening a large PDF
    2. Using a UNC path to transfer a large file
    3. Using Hyper-V to import a .VHD (another large file)
Any help is appreciated - Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does this issue facing for single user or multiple users?
Have you tried on other system? IS it, facing same issue.
From description it seems network issue, please check whether there is any drop for network connection or it works on low bandwidth. You need to see there is no loss from bandwidth perspective. There are other certain reason which can drop the connection or
performance as remote desktop works on many different points.
For try you can autotune disable and check with following command.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
    To renable follow beneath command
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
When you are remote desktop to the remote server, please set the connection speed accordingly to optimize performance and might it will resolve your case of dropping connection.

  • Wireless Connection drops when I close my Macbook

I recently hooked up Airport Express as my wireless router - supporting a Macbook, iPhone 4S, iPad, an HP printer and a Nintendo Wii.  I thought everything was fine, and then I noticed that the connection seems to drop when I close the lid of my MacBook (was watching a movie streaming on the Wii through Amazon Instant Video, and noticed the video stopped every time I shut my MacBook).  Any suggestions to alleviate this?
(have not tested yet to see if WiFi on the iPhone or iPad are affected by shutting down the MacBook)
(Environment is a one bedroom apartment, no walls between the Express and the Wii)

Did u solve ur problem, im having the same issue!! and its getting me mad LOL

  • Internet connectivity drops when transitioning LTE/WiFi

I have an iPhone 5S 32G on Verizon using ios 8.1.1
Mail, messaging, browsing works using WiFi at home (known state).  Ride to work phone is not in use and LTE connected.  Get to work and phone connects to office WiFi. Internet connectivity (email hangs in 'Checking for mail...', iMessages do not arrive, etc.).  Ending apps (flick off screen) and restarting does not work.  Power down/up and WiFi again connects (and LTE) and internet connectivity is fine.   Go out of office to lunch (WiFi drop, onto LTE) and intenet connectivity drops again.  Power cycle, LTE comes up and connectivity fine.
Note this does not occur every time (sometimes I can go from home to work WiFi OK and vice-versa.)  But it happens enough to be annoying.  Silly to have to power cycle on transition.  IIRC this was not an issue pre iOS 8.x series.
I have reset network settings, rebooted, turned WiFi on/off to no avail so far.  Any ideas or anyone else seeing similar issue?

I am having the same problem. My MacBook, iPad, iPhone, and even the PC all lose internet connectivity;but home sharing still continues to function properly on ATV2.
I'm not too savvy on routers and modems, but could the problem be my router's capacity?

  • Connection drops when devices removed

I Decided to move the base station for our cordless phones last night, whilst I did this my wife was using the net.
On disconnecting the phone base the net connection dropped, plugging it back in brought the connection back. As an experiment I then removed the filter from the master socket, this filter isn't connected to anything, and got the same result.
The master socket has two extension cables wired off it, both installed by BT. One leads to a socket for the phone base station and the other leads to a socket for the router. All sockets are filtered.
Seems a bit odd to me that taking things out of the loop should cause the connection to drop, is that normal?

Possibly a loose wire but as it's all working fine now I'm just going to ignore it.
That was the one and only time in 6 years at this address I've ever felt the need to move the phone base station so it can just stay where it is for another 6 years

  • Time Capsule ethernet connection drops when backup on Windows XP

    Hi,
I have my Time Capsule connected with ethernet cable to my computer (Windows XP Pro SP3) everything works just fine until I start a backup from the PC.
The disk is connected to my PC as a network drive and I use the softare Cobian for the backup.
The connection drops after few minutes (not even 12G) of backup and I then can't access to the Time Capsule or internet...nothing works anymore.
After a reboot I can access to the Time Capsule again.
DOES IT WORK WITH WINDOWS ?????
