Connection Error prevents firmware updates on the ...

As the title really. Whenever I try to update the firmware the phone says "connecting" briefly, then "checking for updates" for about a minute before "connection error".
Any ideas?

I have a USA NAM RM-428 5800XM
Here's what worked for me:
1. No need to configure another server - Go to Menu : Settings : Phone : Phone mgmt. : Device updates : Options : Settings : Default server profile : Always ask (I have a server labeled "Nokia", I didn't select it, instead I selected "Always ask". Since the "Nokia" server is the only one, it must default to it when checking for an update.)
2. Connect via Wifi - Go to Menuettings : Connectivity : Wireless LAN : (select a Wifi access point)
3. Check for an update - Go to Menu : Settings : Phone : Phone mgmt .: Device updates : Options : Check for updates : Yes
If my Wifi connection drops out, I get the "Connection error" message.
I think I used to be able to check for updates via WAP, ... if I was able to - I can't now.

    Hi christeag,
The only thing I can identify as an issue is that your Windows Firewall is running and iTunes is not enabled in it, so this may be the source of your issue. Here is an article for you that will help you rectify this situation:

For PC users, before reinstalling, try this:

    then type in:
    netsh winsock reset
hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes. Hopefully fixed.

    Hi msahed,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your PC establishing a secure connection to the iTunes Store and the firmware update server. Try following along with the articles below, as they should resolve the issues that you described.

  • Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.

I have successfully installed iTunes 10.5 onto my WIndows 7 64 bit laptop. Everything I have tried works, except for one thing.
When I try to install iOS5 onto my iPad 2, I can successfully download the file but shortly after it starts installing, it bombs out and gives an error 3259 and then deletes the iOS5 file so I have to download it again!!!!
I found the Diagnostics thing in iTunes and everything seems fine except the below (normally the activation server is fine when I run the diagnostics, but this time it failed):
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to iPhone activation server was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Delete contents in hosts file
    2. Deselect the certificate revocation checkbox
    3. Checked SSL3.0 and TSL 1.0
    4. Turned off my firewall
    5. Added the whole Apple domain to the Exclude list on my anitvirus
    6. Added all the iTunes/Apple/Bonjour folders in Program Files, Program Files (x386), Local, Local Low, Roaming and iTunes in My Music to the Exclude list on the antivirus
    7. Tried to run the diagnostics on a second computer, with the same result
    8. Switched my laptop over from my Wi-Fi/ADSL network to my phone hotspot network with the same result
    9. There are one or two other things I have tried as well that I can't remember
I have spent about 4 hours searching the internet, changing settings, restarting etc etc etc and I am about to punch a hole in my iPad and go get an Android device
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can somebody tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it

I have found a solution to the iOS5 upgrade that was being stopped by the above connection problem.
    1. Unplug your iPad from your computer and plug it back in again
    2. A message box will come up that asks if you want to download and install or just download the new iPad firmware.
    3. Use the DOWNLOAD only option.
    4. Once it has downloaded, click on your Device in iTunes and it should start to install automatically

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620e ADF jam error after firmware update

After installing the latest firmware update from the printer's touchscreen, the printer restarts and now has an error that says "Original is jammed in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).  Open the ADF cover, remove and reload the original, then try again."
I've gone through all of the steps for clearing an ADF jam, but the notice is persistant.  There is nothing (and wasn't before the upgrade) in the ADF at all.  Since this coincided with the firmware update, my suspiscion is that the firmware didn't install properly or something.  What do I do from here?

Thanks CribDesigner for a fast response. I finaly called HP Tech Support and they are saying ....they will replace the unit.

  • Is there a firmware update for the Apple RAID Card [early 2009 Xserve] that will take it beyond the E-1.3.2.0 version and allow it to see 4TB drives?

Is there a firmware update for the Apple RAID Card [early 2009 Xserve] that will take it beyond the E-1.3.2.0 version and allow it to see 4TB drives?

I have a few of these RAID cards in a couple servers, and then I have an earlier version of the RAID card in a few different servers.
The earlier servers are running non-apple 1.5 TB drives. It will be interesting to learn if this firmware update will indeed allow me to boost the capacity by installing non-apple drives, as the firmware previously has not.
Ohh I'm excited to update and try! This will greatly help out if it does!
