Connection error swf or htm generated by captivate

Hello,
I published a captivate file. swf and htm.
it countains slides, a long video slide from powerpoint (10 minutes). Because I can't import slide by slide.
The video slide is in f4v (I used insert slide video)
then couple quiz slides.
uploaded on my website. It worked for couple days (How? I don't know),
now there is a "connection error" after the first slide.
during the second slide (the long video one) nothing but a message error.
then after 10 minutes, the quiz slides go on...
I redid it, uploaded it again on my website... same difference
On my server, in the same directory, I have
the cptx file
the htm file
the swf file
the f4v file
and the standard.js file.
Am I missing something?
This project is killing me. It took me forever to figure out how to make it work
I can't do the slides under captivate because the timing doesn't react to clics.
So I do the slide show under powerpoint, record the voice there.
then I export into a video. Then I convert the video so that it can be imported by captivate.
Then I publish
and connection error!
Thank you very much for your help

  • Video is fine but then connection error

    I've published my Captivate training to Amazon s3, desktop, and our internal file servers and it plays without difficulty.  Today we posted to another server internally and all the pages with video showed "Connection Error"  Does anyone have any possibl troubleshooting tips?  I found the link below but it didn't solve any of my issues. What could cause this to go from stable to "connection error" ?
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/08/connection-error-in-slide-video.html

    One thing that could be the problem is that the server is perhaps missing the MIME type for your particular type of video file. I'm pretty sure that would result in a connection error.
    Try verifying your server MIME type settings.

  • Adobe Air Bug: embedded .flv in .swf does not start - Connection Error

    Hi,
    I have embedded an .flv video into an .swf (using Captivate CS5)
    Then I use Dreamweaver and insert the swf into html.
    So far everything works ok, the video is displayed.
    Now I create an Air File in Dreamweaver.
    Result; The video is not displayed. Message: "Connection Error"
    I am not a programmer. Do I have to change the .xml file or is there any other fix for this?
    Thank you very much!
    Claus

    This would be somewhat usefull if we where calling the FLV from javascript.  However, both Clause and I are calling the flash object from the object tag. This is the default from Dreamweaver and also the prefered method for embeding a swf (my case) into a HTML Air app.  The codebase I am using to create my Air app is modified html5 from the client's current website.  (they would like this app to "look and work like the site")
    For me, all is good exept the video.  This app has to work offline or I'd just call the video from the website.
    Is there a working example somewhere out there we can look at?
    Life would be so much simpler if AIR supported the <video> tag in the webkit html engine.  I'll use h.264. I promise!

  • Connection Error in Captivate 7

    When I publish video slides in Captivate 7, they preview fine on my computer, but when I upload them to the web server I get the "Connection Error" message. I have read that with Captivate 6, one of the solutions was to export in Flash 9. Unfortunately, in Captivate 7, you can only export in Flash 10, 10.2, and 11, and none of them work correctly.

    Vikram:
    Problem solved.
    As much as I hate to admit it, and yes I do have egg on my face, our web server was not setup with the MIME for .mp4, and that was the problem.
    Thanks,

    Try the troubleshooting tips here:

    You may have something in your project on one of the slides that is tripping up the publishing process.

  • Yahoo Mail generates "A connection error occurred." within the Preferences panel

    Since Yahoo Mail changed to IMAP I have been having SMTP connection problems with the outgoing server.  I have tried deleing the keychain entries, etc. but nothing worked.  I deleted the account from Mail and rebooted my MBP.  Now, when I try and add a Yahoo email account I quickly get the message "A connection error occurred."  without any indication of the error.  The only option is to manual add the account which creates the error "Unable to verity account or password".
    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Since first posting I contacted AppleCare.  AppleCare performed various troubleshooting steps (pinging the SMTP server on the specific ports, creating test accounts and finally restoring Mountain Lion) which lead me to believe the problem is with Yahoo.
    I was using Yahoo Mail Plus since 2002 but have since cancelled.   I am using the Ad version and the problem remains.  As a paying subscriber the only support option is email.  There does not appear to be any urgency on Yahoo to prioritze the issue or communicate.

  • Urgent - Video Connection Error

    I have several videos mp4 files inserted as event videos - they play when previewing in play slide view but when published I get a connection error? I am using IE 10 as browser.
    I have read details about having to convert to FLV files i tried this but with no luck.
    This not seem to be a browser issue nor a Flahj player issue as if  I create a couple of slide project in Captivate and insert the videos on the first or second slide, they play perfectly. The Active x is disabled so according to previous fixes...im lost.

    Hi Vikram
    Thanks for your reply.
    Captivate is V 6.0.1.240
    Windows 8
    Output is SWF/HTML
    Flash PLayer 10, I have tried 11 as well.
    Browser IE10
    As I mentioned, if i create a 2 or three screen test project in Captivate and put the video (as an evemt video) and publish this it publishes perfectly.

  • Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error

    I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada.  All data sources are SQL Server 2005.  The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects.  I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response.  Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed).  We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
    If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.

    Hi Chapman,
    Can you be little elobrate on what you have done to solve the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Database Connection Error Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory

    Hello everyone,
    Background:
    I have a newly installed and configured Ubuntu server running Tomcat5.5 and Mysql 5.0. This server was created in an attempt to migrate from a Red Hat server in a similar configuration, running the exact same webapp. Most of the configuration/classpath differences between the two platforms have been ironed out.
    The Problem:
    When our webapp trys to connect to the database on localhost, an exception 'java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)' is generated.
    The server.xml configuration is below:
    <Resource name="jdbc/EconDollarsDB"
    auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    username="user"
    password="pass"
    driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
    url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/DBName?autoReconnect=true"
    maxActive="20" maxIdle="5"
    />I can connect to the database just fine using the command line client and the same username/password combo. This configuration has been working fine for at least a year on the older server. The only similar problems I have found on the net (meaning the same exception is generated) involve applets and attempts to connect to different hosts. This case involves a webapp, connecting to localhost, using a configuration that is known to work! I am simply baffled.
    The following stacktrace is generated:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Database Connection Error
    Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Server connection failure during transaction. Due to underlying exception: 'java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)'.

    Hi,
    Its clearly saying the connect permission is missing with the current available policy.
    you add the following permisson entry to the <installed JRE>\lib\security\java.policy file.
    (e.g) C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_08\lib\security\java.policy
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant{
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    If the application is running standalone then the code is allowed uncontrolled access but for webapplicatons running through browser, the security check is performed for the configured JRE.

  • The video player is in the connection error state.

    Flash cS 5.5 / Win 7. Inserting video into movieclip both with 'import video' wizard and via component. FLV that plays fine on a number of different servers. On opening (after gathering metadata) the message 'The video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found.' Firstly I am treating this as a progressive download, not streaming. Second this plays fine locally, it's only when I upload to a server it fails. The FLV is in a folder directly below the SWF. Result is same with FLV in same location as SWF. MIME type set to vide/x-flv although I've also set it to applicaiton/octet-stream.
    This is a very basic requirement to call the video directly from Flash, the default parameters of the component are adequate and work locally. However the video does not play. Is it fair to assume this functionality simply does not work correctly within Flash CS5.5? I'm unclear as to what >less< I could be doing with this file.

    You can place the Flash and any Flash assets in any folder location that you want.... provided that you understand how Flash assets (like .flv files) are "Pathed" or located by the .swf that is calling them. The underlying principle is that the Flash assets need to be pathed relative to the Web page that the .swf is located on, NOT the actual, physical location of the .swf.
    For review:
    Pathing issues
    Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
    You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
    Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
    In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
    So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

    So you can place the .flv wherever you want, but you can't just go and move the .flv without also correcting the path to the .flv inside the .swf.
    So be sure that you have the .flv in the correct subfolder before you do any insert of the Flash player.
    Also I'm not a great fan of requiring my viewers use the latest and greatest (and most bug filled version) of any pluggin or software for that matter.
    <param name="swfversion" value="11.0.0.0" />
    I refer NOT to upgrade to ver 11 so will not be seeing your Flash anytime soon. If you want to appeal to a large audience, change that to version 10.
    Best wishes,

  • 'Connection Error' Sample RTMP video used to work, now no longer works?!

    Hello All,
    I had FMS 3.5 developer package installed on my server installed about a month ago. I used to be able to go to the /webroot/ page to see the sample RTMP video play and it worked great. Today, I go to view that page and find that it no longer plays. I get "Connection Error. Please preee Play to try again."
    Pressing the play button does nothing, so I click the RTMP thumbnail and it reloads ony to give me that same error again.
    I can click the HTTP thumbnail and see the video play just fine. But, I want RTMP and after over an hour on the phone with my managed hosting tech, we can't find anything wrong.
    Here's the thing: I haven't done anything, I have not changed anything, I have not manipulated the server software whatsoever. It just stopped working and gives me "Connection Error."
    I checked that port 1935 was open, and it is.
    UPDATED:
    When I click on the RTMP thumbnail, after the 'Connection Error' message comes up in the player, the following things happen in my server's error log:
    "File does not exist: /folder/folder/folder/fcs"
    "File does not exist: /folder/folder/folder/open"
    The corresponding IP is my own.
    The /folder/folder/folder/ corresponds to my public_http folder and related file structure for the website, NOT the RTMP server. I have no idea why the F
    MS is looking in my public_http for fcs and open, but it is.
    Thoughts?
    Please help? Many thanks in advance!
    Sincerely,
    wordman

    SE,
    I'm logged on using PuTTY, my server is Linux and I did in fact get to view the log files.
    I realize the sample page ought to be discarded as a concern, but I was hoping I might learn something from this.
    I don't have the knowledge to try another RTMP player/client, I am brand new to this. I have Flash CS4 Professional, but I need to learn what to do to build a .SWF to play a sample file.
    As for player development, I have been doing research on which might be best for me. In the short term I just need a basic player. In the long term, a player with insertable banners (for in-house promotion and identifiaction, not for ads) and a chat function. The banners may not be necessary as I want the player to be located in a stand-alone page as opposed to a pop-up, so I can do banners in the page itself.
    I have looked into REOPS and Strobe, but the tech is written in engineer-speak so most of it is zooming right over my head. I'm self-taught with PHP so I know this all can't be THAT difficult. The jumping-off point is hard to find though. I need something in human-speak that's a wee easier to understand. A basic player would be lovely right now. I don't even care about skinning, just colors.
    Using the command to check if FMS is running leaves me with 4 lines of info: 5-digit number, ? 00:00:00 fmsmaster (fmsedge, fmscore, fmsadmin)
    Does that mean it isn't running? If so, what can I do to restart it and worse, why would it have stopped?
    Thanks for your help!
    Sincerely,

  • Nokia lumia 710 CONNECTION ERROR

    Hi,
    I have a noia lumia 710, and whenever I connect my windows phone , zune opens but then an error message prompts. " Connection error, Can't connect to your phone. Disconnect it, restart it, then try connecting  again."
    I have tried all possible solutions.
    I try every steps suggested in that link.
    http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/zunesoftware/solvingproblems/phoneupdateprobs.htm
    and also that link
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2468307
    BUT  I could do the Certificate steps cause when I open certmgr.msc I don't see anywhere the Zune certificate.
    All I have is one program..in that " list ".
    Thanks!

    Hi,
          There is a simple solution. I observed. When you sync your phone with out a entry password and then set a password on the phone. May be the phone doesn't get connected...
    When I made zune to forget the device and connected again it asked for me to enter the password to start the sync. I realized last time I synced there wasn't a password..

  • Connection Error in OBIEE but nowhere else

    I have a 10g database & a separate 11g database installed in separate Oracle Homes on a single machine. I've made the necessary entries to the tnsnames and listener.ora files to successfully connect to both of these 2 databases from SqlPlus, Toad and SQL Developer. However, when I'm in OBIEE 10.1.3.4 and attempt to import a table from either the 10g database or the 11g database using the OCI 10g/11g connection type, I get the error:
    +'ORA-12154 TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified'+
    How is it that I can get this error only in OBIEE and not in SqlPlus, Toad and SQL Developer? Thanks.

    Thanks for your replies. I'm running Vista 64 which I upgraded a few weeks ago from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate. Both the 10g and 11g Oracle Clients are installed.
    So I'm now seeing what I need to look into. On this 64 bit machine I have separate 64 bit & 32 bit ODBC Drivers. It seems that the upgrade to Vista Ultimate screwed up these odbc drivers as I get errors when trying to connect from EXCEL. ACCESS, OBIEE using ODBC. Also, in an unsuccessful attempt to connect a 32 bit app (SIMBA), I installed a 32 bit 11g 'Instant Client' and copied over files from the 32 bit ODBC Instant Client download. These generate connection errors too.
    I guess the clearest task I have is to figure out how to restore / reinstall OCI Drivers and ODBC Drivers for both 64 bit and 32 bit. Focusing on the 11g database, do I simply uninstall and then reinstall the 11g client? Will that take care of both 64 & 32 bit odbc & OCI drivers?
    This post now falls clearly outside of an OBIEE problem but any suggestions are appreciated.
