Connection Failed: AFP System Failure

All of a sudden, I cannot connect to another computer from my MacBook Pro (intel 2.16 ghz Core Duo) through a wireless network. I always click on the nework icon, pick the computer, enter the password but now I get the "Connection failed: AFP system error has occurred". I haven't changed anything lately (that I know of) and am updated completely according to software update.
I can connect to the laptop, connect from the laptop to the internet and ping another computer without difficulty.
Can anyone suggest what to do to correct this?

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
If that doesn't cure it, then try Connect To Server and put in afp://ip.of.some.mac

If i recall all the picl/prtdiag cases i had when i worked at sun, they both came down to the following two reasons:
1. system with ancient patches
2. system with no patches
.. so i think its a good idea to start by verifying that you are up-to-date on patches. And verify that relevant processes are running..

I just finished installing MAC OS X 10.5.6 on a Macbook and am unable to connect to network using a new AirportExpress N with the following configuration:
WPA 2 Personal Security
SSID broadcast off
MAC filtering enabled
DHCP AUTOMATIC
Connection (Bridge Mode)
I find the following entry in the log:

The weirdest thing is that as soon as I connect the macbook to the ethernet port (by cable) it get of course an ip address through the Ethernet port, after disconnecting (unplug) the AirPort also get an other ip address and works until it goes to sleep after waking up it troubles again?
Is there an problem with DHCP?
Does anyone have a solution?

To rule out an issue with WPA I would recommend not turning your SSID off or enabling MAC filtering. They they dont offer any extra security anyway they can easily got around. You only really need to use WPA2.
Then try connecting.

Hey Spider! First off welcome to the forum.
I would recommend removing all the ink cartridges, unplugging the USB cable from the computer that connects to the printer, and then shutting the printer off completely by removing the power cord. Then restart your computer. Turn the printer back on but leave it disconnected from the computer. After it has finished its power on cycle go ahead and insert the ink cartridges back into the printer and be sure to seat them properly.
After you have all the cartridges back in the printer properly then connect it to the computer. See if this resolves the issue. If not post back with any findings.

TP error: connect failed due to DbSL load lib failure

I have prepared Quality system from Production system as System copy.I have upgarded Kernel from 620 to 640 in Quality system.
After Kernel upgrade , Server details are as below
Operating System : windows 2003 IA 64
Database : SQL server 2000 IA 64
Kernel :640 and compiled for 64 bit non unicode system ,
patch number is 43.
SAP : SAP R/3 4.7
Before kernel upgrade , server details are as below
Operating System : windows 2000 server
Database : SQL server 2000
Kernel :620 and compiled for Non unicode system ,patch number
is 1363
SAP : SAP R/3 4.7
I am able to transport request from Development to Quality . But when I try to import request from Quality I am getting error message "Connect failed due to DBSL Load lib failure"
Error message is " connect failed due to DBSL load lib failure
cannot find the DLL dbmssslib.dll in path( K:\usr\sap\NBQ\SYS\exe\run)
problem when loading DB-dependent DLLs."
I have set Environmnet variable ( DBMS_TYPE value as mss) for nbqadm user.
I have seen that dbmssslib.dll file is exist in exe/run path.
Does anyone having an Idea , how to resolve this issue.Pls help me

Issue is resolved by myself.
Instead of update Kernel to 640 , I have downloaded latest 620 kernel patch on IA 64 .
Since my production server is running on x86 and 620 kernel , i have downloaded 620 kernel for IA 64 .
That resolved my issue.

Failed to start SASL connection SASL(-1): generic failure

I am unable to send email using the OS X Mail client via my iCloud account, but it works fine with other POP based ISP mail accounts (gmail for one). Once I attempt to send a mail via iCloud, it just sits in the Outbox and the mail client waits showing the 'wait' spinner next to the Sent folder. Once in this sate I see the error message in "Failed to start SASL connection SASL(-1): generic failure" appear every 10 minutes in the system log.
I've tried deleting and recreating the iCloudaccountin the mail client, but to no avail, and I've researched the mail accountconfiguration options, but nothing obvious occurs to me.
Any ideas?

I just began searching the same message. Mail has been taking a little while to quit. The message you referred to seemed to be triggered about the time Mail was quiting. Along with this one:

Failed Connection with AFP

I'm having a strange problem with AFP where I'm getting the following error:
Connection failed
There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server "server.name". Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem.
I have three users attempting to access the share. One is a local account on the server, and two are admin accounts accessing shares on the server.
I've checked the ACL's on the share point itself. I've also checked the SACL's. Guest access is off. I also checked SMB settings, but I can't see anything there that might be a problem.
I can always connect as the local account, but I'm getting the error when I try one of the two admin accounts.
Sometimes, I get an error that the share is unavailable and that I don't have privileges to access the share, and I get this pop-up window that keeps popping up with the same message. Looking under the Connections area, I see that the server has multiple connections from my attempt to access the share.
Any ideas on what's going on?

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but Tiger no longer supports the afp protocol (see this document: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301183.)
Because your server is running Panther perhaps the above could be related to your problem.

in the username field, in the port field and in the password fiels and in the domain field and in the field where 3389 is. Have tried my computer username, my Computer password and the name of the network name (domain). Have also tried the network password.

Are you referring to Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Macs? It sounds to me like you're referring to a remote connect app you purchased for use on your iPhone to connect to a Windows system, and if so you should start by contacting the support resources for the app you purchased, and if you can't get help there try asking in the iPhone forum.

Source system error - RFC connection failed

I have installed ECC6 on my PC but not when i am trying to created the DS its not allowing me its saying appl comp hierarchy for source susyem "T90*" doesnt not exist.
so tried going to source system -> done a check for my source system then i got the following errors
Source system "T90*" is inactive
Entry in outbound table not found
Entry in inbound table not found
Basic type does not exist
Check failed for RFC connection T90CLNT090 ; check destination
can any one tell me how to fix this issue?

Did you run appication component hierarchy in source system(TX-RSA9)
then activate your data source
then replicate in BW system.
Check here for BW connectivity with source system.

I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

Test Connection fails for VC system of type Web Service

I ve created a VC system of the type Web Service in Portal. In this VC system, I have given Url of the Enterprise Service that I want to use in VC.
(for eg: http://erp.esworkplace.sap.com/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/sdef_ECC_SALESORDER002QR/wsdl11/ws_policy/document?sap-client=800)
In the next step, I did user mapping for the VC user that will be consuming this Enterprise Service.
The system was created successfully but when I did Connection Tests , I got the following exception:
Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
Results
Retrieval of default alias successful
Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
Do I need to do any more configurations before I can use such ES portal system in my VC work studio ?
I understand that I have provided little information about the exception thrown by Portal.
I kindly request you to feel free in asking any other details about the same.

I followed your instructions and created iView of the type URL and set the fetch mode property to 'server side' as told.
Initially, I gave 'http://www.sap.com' as the Url and I was successful in opening the site.
Later, when I gave Enterprise Service url and tried to preview the iView, I got the following exception:

Error # 401'*
I ll need to give username and password. But how do i give them as parameters?
Please note, these parameteres are appended to the Url. So, I fear that if url of Enterprise service is changed, then it wont open.
what do you think ?

System Landscape New system connection fails

Hi,
I've configured SSO between ECC6 (ABAP stack) and Portal EP7 (AS Java Stack) and now when I test the new System Landscape Object connector it fails with the following message.
"Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct."
All the SSO settings look to be OK in the Visual Admin and in STRUSTSSO2, SSO2 they are all green. The test for the Connector and the JCO connections is failing. The JCO ping tests fine and I'm able to log into the portal and see the UME and ABAP users in identity management. I've opened an oss message for this but have not had a reply as of yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for replying. The connector or Connection is the one that is failing. I used the correct template for creating the system (SAP ABAP Stack) backend connection. The SAP_HR_MasterData (JCO) connection fails as a result but the ping test tests fine. I've gone thru the UME and Landscape (Connector) configuration about 10 times making sure it is correct. I called to escalate the OSS message but still no reply.

"Connection Failed" un-movable layer on System Setting screen

Hi, I got a new BBQ5 yesterday and tried to explore the BB10 OS. I was initially able to set up my wifi connection successfully and was exploring the new OS. All of sudden due to power failure , the wifi device stopped working. Then i noticed while doing wifi setting - It tried connecting to wifi (attemp 1/3) and so on and it had then shown up a from "Connection Failed" with NO BUTTONS (or any information). Eversince then i tried to close the dialog box layer but was in vain.Every time i tried to open setting - it came with the dialog box with no further instuction. This scenario is quite reproducible. and finally i restarted the device and then the dialog box went away. So here is the problem statement - If with / without wifi signals user try to connect wifi (after few try) and un-movable "Connection Failed (with NO Buttons/Instructions) means a blank dialog box with header as Connection failed on setting screen. - Only restarting the device is the only solution to that. AFP client "connection failed 32" issue solved

I'm making this post because of the difficulty I had in troubleshooting this AFP error and hope someone will benefit from my finding.
I have a client whose server was responding with "connection failed 32" whenever anyone tried to connect to shares on the attached XRaid. The AFP log indicated entries like this:
Login admin
No matching key: admin
After much searching for hints on the forums I couldn't find any solutions. Some postings I read mentioned that the AFP problem was related to SCSI boards on their server. Not having one on our server I went after the nearest such item, namely Firewire. I finally solved the problem by unmounting the bank of 4 Firewire backup drives.
Although I have no idea why the AFP problem is related to the backup drives, it turned out that once I ran Disk Utility to repair the FW drives and remounted them, AFP worked once again. DU found "Directory name locked" on two of the drives and repaired them.

This seems to indicate a Kerberos key transfer of some sort that has not been recognised or was out of sync. Probably nothing to do with the actual problem which you have fixed. But that is what the log seems to be indicating to me.

AFP drive connection failed

hi,
i have a NAS which i setup to be connected with my macs.
the icon for this nas drive (AFP) is located on the left part of the finder under "shared". i want to enter in my name and password every time i connect to this drive but the log in screen won't show up. it just shows connection failed when i click on "connect as" button.
do you know what i need to do to have this log in screen to show? i've tried connect to server but if i do this way, i will have to connect to each folder one by one which i do not want to do.

Just got a 2011 Mac Mini, the cheap one, and downloaded the Server App.
My local tech support (my Nephew) was NOT happy about Lion Server.... wanted to UPGRADE to 10.6 To be honest, I can see why, it has so many bugs I was regretting the download of 10.7 server.
Being impatient and not wanting to go thru the hassle of changing OS's, I just started dinking around. Note, I'm just home user, I'm fairly tech saavy, fairly new to MAC, I know nothing about servers. We have to two MBPs and this new mini, that's it.   I just wanted faster backups, fast storage for music and other stuff, and that's about it.
SOLUTION: From the Server App, I simply clicked Time Machine, turned it on, and told it what drive to use... BOOM, I'm done, that's it!    All I had to do was point my MBP to that drive an starting the MBP TimeMachine.   Its that easy. Wow, really!
OTHER THOUGHTS:
I have a 4TB WD RAID (2 TB RAID 1).   Its Firewire 800, so reasonable fast, and literally 6X cheaper than the equivalent Thunderbolt Promise drive (take a hike).    My only concern is the Server puts all the client Time Machines in one partition... Now I have to figure out how to resize it.    It blows me away a "server" doesn't have tools to resize a partition. Guess I'll have to load iPartition.
I was using a the same drive on the USB port of the Airport extreme. It was DOG slow! But it worked and is probably the cheapest network time machine setup you can have.   Now, for 650 more, I have 100Mb backups and a cool new toy to play with.   I'm probably going to upgrade my switch to gigabit. Then I'll have braggin rights over any other house on the block.
