"Connection failed" using smb to Win 7 64-bit shared folder

Hi,
I am a new Mac user and was unable to find any suggestion for a solution to the problem I am experiencing.
I use a folder on my PC to store video files. It is shared and the Mac connects to the address smb://biblioteket. This usually works fine, but sometimes I get a "Connection failed" error message. I connect through a gigbit wired ethernet connection.
Some other characteristics:
- If I restart my PC and reconnect, it works again - every time.
- I can connect to the PC using Teamviewer even if I get the error message, meaning there is a connection between the computers.
- The error will always show up if I try to copy large files from my Mac to the shared folder on the PC. I get a error message during file copying, after that the mounted drive is inaccessible and the "Connection failed" error message appears.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
So I did what I always do to get the error message. I moved about 25 files from the Mac to the PC. Total size was about 5 gb. About half way through, I get the following error message:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “(filename(.avi” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36).
So I retry, but this time the mounted drive has disconnected and get the following error msg:
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -41).
This happened with a new user (administrator). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Oracle is not completely up... or is still in shutdown mode.
    start it manually with :
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    shutdown imemdiate;
    startup;
    exit;
    now, restart SAP.

    We are having a serious issue connecting either of our 10.6.8 Macs (Macbook Pro & Powermac) to any Windows 7 machine in our studio. We just upgraded from XP.
    Connection is usually possible, but is incredibly unstable,
    In the console I am getting this error pretty heavily in the Console:

    When I lose connection from the Windows 7 machine, I get a Finder error:
    "Connection failed      There was an error connecting to the server "sever name". Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your system administrator."
    Often any reconnect attempt will fail for 5 minutes after this message.

    Having the exact same problem with connecting ML and Snow Leopard machines to a Windows 8.1 machine. Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. Hi,
    first you must uninstall the 64 bit version.
    But you can install the 32bit version on a 64bit OS.
    When you install the 32bit version please make sure to not install into the "Program Files (x86)" Folder - somethimes i had problems with the "(" ")".

  • Applet to servlet connection failed using plugin 1.3

    Hi,
    I tried to send a serialized object from an Applet to a Servlet. It worked well until I installed the Java plugin version 1.3.
    Now I can open the Connection, create an ObjectOutputStream and write the object but nothing happens then. The Servlet doesn't start working.
    I don't receive an exception or error message, neither in Tomcat or Apache log-file nor in the plug-in console.
    here is my code example:
    String location = " http://localhost/com/spes/test/TestUploadSoundServlet";
    URL servlet = new URL( location );
    URLConnection servletConnection = servlet.openConnection();
    // inform the connection that we will send output and accept input
    servletConnection.setDoInput(true);
    servletConnection.setDoOutput(true);
    // Don't use a cached version of URLconnection.
    servletConnection.setUseCaches (false);
    servletConnection.setDefaultUseCaches (false);
    // Specify the content type that we will send binary data
    servletConnection.setRequestProperty ("Content-Type", "application/octet-stream");
    ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(servletConnection.getOutputStream());
    out.writeObject(soundClass);
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    Is there anything wrong in the code above?
    thanks for help...
    mfg maze

    since the Apache server is listening on port 80 I thought it is not necessary to use the port number. I tried now with the new URL:
    String location = " http://localhost:80/com/spes/test/TestUploadSoundServlet";but it still doesn't work.
    thanks for your help

  • Error -36 connecting to win vista PC on internal wireless network using smb

    This worked last week but nothing has changed.
    The windows vista machine can see the Mac in its network settings. The router shows both the Mac & the PC as connected (however the PC's device name is showing as 'unknown').
    Using connect to server "smb://10.0.0.4/Users/Tom/Shared" I get the message "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data could not be read or written. (Error code -36). The directory "Shared" has been set up as a Share in windows.
    The Network (in Mac Finder) shows a dimmed shortcut to "TomLaptop" but trying to connect from here fails too.
    Can anyone assist me with this error code -36?

  • 64 bit SAP to 32 bit External Oracle Database connectivity failing

    Dear All,
    We are trying to connect to an external Oracle database thru DBCON method. We are able to connect to Oracle server from our IDES server which is a 32 bit server, but when we are trying to connect our development server which is a 64 bit server, the connectivity is failing.
    we copied the correct 64 bit *.lib file to the SAP server but still same result. We are getting the error message - Work Process restarted. Session terminated.
    the Oracle server we are trying to connect is 32 bit, can this create some problem ?
    kindly any one help us in this reagrd.
    thanks in advance,
    Saurabh.

    Hi Eric,
    thanks for the advice but I am a bit confused as where to execute that sqlplus command/query ?
    in the Oracle server or from SAP and what does system/password@DEV means ??
    can you elaborate on this please.
    here i would like to add that we have connected to the external Oracle server using linked server approach of MS SQL (our SAP default database) and so our connectivity is happening till SQL level i.e. I am able to connect to the Oracle and query it using OpenQuery syntax. the problem is appearing when I am trying to connect from the ABAP level.
    kindly suggest as to what can be the solution of this issue.
    thanks
    Saurabh.

  • Connect to server using SMB. all of a sudden stopped working!! HELP!

    I have a MBP which I used to connect to a Windows XP computer wireless using the smb server address feature in the Finder.
    The thing is...it has been working for a couple of months with no problem. I sometimes take my Mac on the road and bring it back... when I'm ready to reconnect it, just go to the "recent items" under the Apple icon and reconnect.
    But now, I get a long delay and I keep getting the message:
    "Connection Failed"
    The server "XXX.XXX.X.XXX" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
    I've tried everything...the IP address is correct and the internet connection is working on both computers, so what's the problem?? HELP!!

    I'm trying to work through the same problem. For 8 months everything worked fine with the network, and then last week "can't connect to servers". So far I've been able to connect to my servers only after a restart. Not even sure how long the fix lasts.
    I've got 3 PCs and my MBP on the network. No problems w/the PCs at all. In fact the other servers can connect to each other as well as my MBP. Unfortunately my network printer is on one of the PCs, so rebooting every time I need to print is wearing thin.
    This is my first Mac after owning a dozen or so PCs. I'm used to the ctrl-alt-del dance but was hoping for better from Apple. Everything else is great w/the Mac. Don't know why I waited so long to switch.

    i thought i should be able to connect using afp or smb.

    Yup, thats the format that i've been using.
    I tried what you said and this time it said that it couldn't find the server. I tried using both the ip address and the URL, neither worked

  • Connecting to NAS via SMB returns "Connection Failed"

    Ok so I always used to be able to connect to my Network Drive no problem. But I was away over Easter and ever since my return I am unable to connect to the drive via SMB. I know there's nothing wrong with the drive as all my PC's on the network can connect to it and I can FTP to it from my mac.
    When I try to connect from: Finder > Go > Connect to Server > smb://192.168.2.6/ I get a popup asking which drives I want to mount but when I click Ok I just get the:
    Connection failed
    There was an error connecting to the server '192.168.2.6". Check the server name or IP address and then try again.
    If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your system administrator.
    Any ideas?

    I have similar problems; I too can't connect to my NAS anymore. I get a "no permision error"
    But when I type: smb://username:password192.168.1.40/folder  it works, but I have to do that every time.
    The passwords are not stored anymore. Also I can't use my NAS as a TimeMachine drive anymore.

  • Can't connect using SMB, but can with CIFS

    I'm trying to connect to a windows share from my PB running tiger. I can connect fine in finder going 'Network/Workgroup/PC_Name/' but if I us the 'Go > connect to server' in finder I cannot.
    I click go, connect to server and type "//192.168.0.3/My Documents/' it says cannot find sever. Same if is use the smb prefix.
    When I get info on the share it says CIFS://WORKGROUP;MARK@PC_NAME/My Documents/
    so I can't understand why I cant connect using SMB, I've checked directory access and SMB is enabled, workgroup is set. I know I've been able to connect via SMB before, not sure why I can't now?

    For the longest time I have had an Alias of all my remote PC servers in the Dock. One click and I'm connected. As of 10.4.5 those Alias' no longer work. When I click on them instead of getting the volume mounted and ready, I get a the login window with the Workgroup and User Name asking for the password that should be in the Keychain. I enter the password and click connect and get nothing. No errors, no pings, just the Network icon in the Dock turns into a ?.
    I go to the Network Browser and the servers show up in their proper workgroups. I click the server, get the login window, put in the password and get an error that the "Server" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. With three buttons "Delete Alias", Fix Alias", and "OK". If it can't be found, then what is it showing me in the browser?
    I have 10.4.4 on another partition for emergency backup use in the event 10.4.5 fails (and it is). I went to 10.4.4 and all works just fine. All this started in 10.4.5.
