Connection failure outside my home
For some reason I am unable to connect to a wi-fi source other than my home. Recently I went to NYC where we had rented an apartment with wi-fi. I was completely unable to connect to the internet while my daughter with a PC was able to do so. She had some difficulty and it would not always connect. But compared to my problem it was as if she had wi-fi and I didn't. I was under the impression that I would open my powerbook g4 and it would show me the list with the wi-fi source for that location and I would just select that. Didn't happen. I am not wi-fi savvy or patient enough to be fiddling with it all the time. Any suggestions?Do I need to buy a cheap PC to be able to teach my online class and travel too? Please tell me NO!

reatha, Welcome to the discussion area!I was under the impression that I would open my powerbook g4 and it would show me the list with the wi-fi source for that location and I would just select that.Click on the AirPort icon in the menu bar and it will list all available networks.

Hi
I just got new router and had to reset my network settings on IPad. Since then, my ipad will connect onto the main home network but will not attach to my extension booster (netgear) which is linked to the home network. It will also not attach to networks outside my home that it has previously worked with. i have reset the settings again, powered off and on again, updated to the latest IOS update, but nothing is working. Please help, as I can only use wifi in a few rooms in my house and i do not have 3G on my my ipad.Did you try forgetting the network and starting all over again?
Settings>WiFi>Network Name>Tap the blue arrow>Forget this Network. Restart your iPad and then try joining again.
Try rebooting your router. Even though everything else may be connecting to your Network, it might help with the iPad. Unplug the router for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
Reset Network settings on the iPad?
Settings>>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to start all over again, Tap WiFi in the settings, find your network and enter the password. -
I'm having strange random connection failures. Are there ineffieciency in my config?
I've been having strange, random connection failures and I'm trying to eliminate possible causes.
What happens is while I'm browsing on the net over wifi, a link will at random not connect to the site, but instead fault to the ISP error page. It happens with highly reliable sites like google, or ebay, or whatever. If I direct connect to the cable modem, the problem site is immediately available.
I'm sitting <6 feet from a 871W router (with antenna). There's one router in my building and others are at my neighbors.
Below is the conf file. Just to imagine how rediculious this problem is, here's a screen shot from a web page. This shows a web page I visited, and after clicking on a link (an embedded youtube video), the error showed up within the page itself.
Why would only some URLs fail to connect? Is there inefficiencies in my config?

I'm guessing that since overload is what--I understand--translates the one outside to the many inside IPs, that the suggestion to have only one overload configured means I should combine the two ip ranges into one.
I deleted 10.0.0.0 network. Changed the bridge references to 1 and vlan references to 1. Now wifi and ethernet should all be using the same internal network? That's the idea, right? Any more fat?

Dear service provider, I'm unable to login to facebook even though i tried to uninstall and again reinstall as per the observation from the forum discussion.. but still it gives me arror as Timeout connection, or connection failure and check internet connection.. how to troubleshoot, pls suggest me..
2ndly I'm unable to search by some of the keywords in itunes. means iTune is not fetching the required information rather it gives no result found message..Have you tried a hard reset of the iPod to see if that helps? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, work through each of the troubleshooting suggestions in this Apple support document as necessary.

Novice trying to connect between office and home MACs
Advice for system novice
trying to connect between office and home MACs
Office MAC OSX 10.2.8 (also runs classic mode)
G4 Computer in the office (only mac in office all others are PC)
I need to connect home computer
IMAC OSX 10.4 Tiger. Connecting via cable modem and have router
I do not have good networking skills, i this something that is doable myself or should I call in a pro? It's doable.
But at home you need to find the "outside" IP that the Internet sees, not the one you see on that machine.
what's my ip...
http://www.whatsmyip.org/
Then you'll need to "Forward Ports" on the home router so incoming stuff knows where to go.
Then you'll need to enable the Services you wish to use on both machines. -
Hi Everyone,
I have a question related to RDweb service.
I have successfully installed RD web role on windows server 2012 R2.
All went ok. I also installed a valid third party certificate.
I can connect from outside to the server and run applications using any devices: Ipad’s, mobiles and laptops.
The problem is that: Any Computer/Laptop that is joined on the domain can connect to RDWEB from outside the company BUT CAN'T RUN ANY APPLICATIONS. The RD session is taking long time it failes.
Note that from inside the network is working.
What it can be?
Thank you in advance,
CrissHi,
The internet connection from where I’m doing the tests is quite good. I think the error with the latency is not relevant because probably the computerRD gateway it doesn’t allow it and that way it fails with this error. For a computer that never been joined
on the domain is working perfect no delay at all..
We are using RD Gateway … installed everything on the same machine Windows server 2012 R2.
When I click RemoteApp I see the remote the prompt of RD gateway, I click ok, then nothing happened for 2-3 min. after this time it brings the error with the delay.. OR “couldn’t connect on the remote computer because an error occurred on the remote
computer that you want to connect to.”
Again, the connection is failing ONLY when we try to connect from outside the company and it happened ONLY with the Computers that are joined on the Domain.
EX: An user (with Office Laptop - joined on domain) can connect to RD Gateway and lunch the RemoteApp’s from inside LAN but when is leaving Home can’t run the Remote App;s. In the meantime he can connect and run RemoteApp’s with his private computer.
What it can be different between the Office and his home private computer?
For Outside users we’ve have open only port 443 on firewall. Why need to open UPD 3391?
I’ve notice that if I take a laptop that is working and join it on the domain it will have the same issue. If will dis-join it will still have the same issue after all.
Thank You -
Folks
I've tried contacting Adobe chat support a day ago with no luck and no answers for this.
I have a workstation at work that is working just fine. My home workstation is what is giving me this error.
Home workstation specs: i5 cpu, 16gb ram, nvidia quadro k620
The suggestion from Adobe chat support was to uninstall After Effects and re-install. This did not help.
Steps to create:
1. Create new AE project
2. Create new Comp
3. Add new Cinema 4d layer
4. Name and save Cinema file
5. AE hangs for a minute or two then throws this error:
AEGP plugin CINEWARE SceneLayer: CINERENDER - connection failure
5027 :: 12
I see someone else had this identical problem but no where in the thread does anyone give a clue what solved it?
Any ideas from you folks on what I should/could do to fix this?
Thanks a bunch!
KellieLook like I've fallen victim to the same issue too.
Thanks for all the posts above.
I can't actually get the Chinaware Effect/Plugin to launch at all in AE so I can't get to the Options settings.
I'm now running on another machine and I'm worried the same problem will occur on that mac too.
Can anybody tell me which other Port Options I can use in this event? I'm clueless when it comes to this sort of issue.
Thanks chaps. -
How to screen share a Tiger iBook from a Leopard iMac outside my home LAN
Okay, I have recently installed Tiger on my girlfriends G3 iBook, and I am able to control it from my iMac via Screensharing, but so far I have only tried this while they are both on my home network, (the iBook is using an ethernet connection from my iMac which itself is connected to the internet via Airport)
What I am hoping someone can do for me is to give me step by step guide on how I would control the iBook when it is connected to the internet outside my home LAN.
I have seen a tutorial for Chicken Of The VNC, but I am still in the dark as to whether I need to install this on my Leopard iMac, or on the Tiger iBook. I am also concerned about the security risks inherent in doing this, so I would like to learn how make a secure connection from the outside world.
I am completely clueless when it comes to port forwarding, or anything to do with ports for that matter,
I would be massively grateful if someone could talk me through this. The easy way is to use something like LogMeIn.com, YuuGuu.com, CoPilot.com, Timbuktu, TeamViewer.com. Some of these are free for non-commercial use.
They figure out how to deal with home routers, and provide encrypted connections. The down side is that they are not always fast.
Using a secure VNC connection tends to involve either setting up a VPN server on the remote system, or using ssh tunnels. I'm an ssh tunnel person myself, but it has lots of steps.
a) Enable Sharing -> Remote Login on the remote system (enables ssh logins).
a.1) give the remote system a secure password.
b) enable the VNC server on the remote system (Sharing -> Apple Remote Desktop)
b.1) Via Apple Remote Desktop configuration, give VNC access a password.
b.2) Optionally use a different VNC server, for example Vine Server.
c) Configure the remote system's home router to "Forward Port 22" from the internet to the target system.
d) Using something like whatismyip.com get the internet visible IP address of the remote system.
d.1) optionally get a free dyndns.org or no-ip.com dynamic domain name and run a dynamic DNS update client on the remote system.
e) On your system, start an ssh connection to the remote system
ssh -l user -L 5900:127.0.0.1:5900 remote.sys.ip.addr
Password: ........
f) Use your VNC client to connect to the ssh tunnel using
127.0.0.1:5900
as the ssh tunnel address.
g) Enter the remote system's VNC password (separate from the ssh username password).
I have left out a lot of details. But knowing the steps, you can most likely do google lookups to get the details you need. -

We regularly have a connection failure which seems to occur after we have had a phone call on the land line.
Also struggling to send emails today and getting message "the connection to the outgoing server failed"welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home? dropping the internet when making/receiving calls can be a sign of a high resistance fault on your line. you need to conenct to test socket with new filter and then phone your home and see if still drops connection
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Connectivity Failure Message - but I am connected
I am one of 2 mac users in a dominate 250+ pc user company.
I access several shared drives and printers through ethernet IP addresses.
I keep getting a connectivity failure message, but I am connected to everything as best we can tell.
How can I get the Mac to tell me what I am not connecting to that it is searching for? the IT department has been changing IP addresses and we know this started at the same time (for the work location), but we really can't find an IP address that isn't active in the system settings for the network.
This also happens to me when I take the computer home a lot, but I always figured it was looking for one of the drives I connect to when I am at work, so I was ignoring it. Now I am not..... ignoring that is.
The generic failure message pops up repeatedly daily and is very annoying. You best bet is to check the console logs for information about what is happening.

Datasocket connection failure requires restart of VI
I'm using LabView RT 8.5 together with a cFP-2110. I have shared variables hosted on the cFP, as the cFP application works by itself without the need of a host PC application. However, a host PC application can be connected and read/write shared variables to work as a GUI. The shared variables are accessed with Datasocket VIs, as the same application is to be used on different cFPs with different IP addresses.
The Datasocket connections is opened once and then the variables are accessed in a while loop. Before accessing the variables, RT Ping Controllers.vi checks if the cFP is still accessible. If not (or if the Datasocket Read operation fails), the Datasocket connection is closed. Now here comes the problem. When I want to re-establish the connection with Datasocket Open, I only get Error 66 (Connection closed by the peer). The only way I have found to "reset" this behaviour, is to close/stop the host VI and start it again. Is there an easier way to solve this? I assume the reason lies in something not being reset in the connection between the PC and the cFP. But what, and how can it be reset? Note that I have closed the connection with Datasocket Close in case of a failure.
I do not need answers about how I can avoid the connection failures in the first place. They can e.g. be caused by the cFP being temporarily too busy or something. The issue is when a failure HAS occurred, I want to be able to re-establish the connection without restarting the VI. How?Isn't there anyone with similar experiences?
I would assume that someone would be interested in being able to restore a connection after a failure. Improving connections to minimize the risk of failures is not anyway a 100% solution. Sooner or later a failure will occur. And in that case I am not pleased with having to restart the application in order to get the system back on track.
I have already tried searching for previous posts regarding this, but the search results are very poor. Any ideas?

Post subject: NSURLErrorDomain error -1100 in OS X 10.8
If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile
