Connection hick ups and questions

I own a WRK54G, as a result of intermitten signal on one side of the house- I have concluded that interference may be the culprit along with my neighbor(s ) linksys router. My router does not list what version it is next to the model number- my guess it's one of the earliest one.
Q should I just simple replace the antenna to a high gain? if so which model?
Q would this hi gain antenna give me more distance or a stronger signal with in the same distance?
Q Or should I say the hell with it and just upgrade to a duel antenna model like the 54gs or perhaps a 802.11 N device? I'm assumeing the "n" device is backwards compatable.

what if I went with new firmware on a new router wrt54gs with speed boost.
would that be better than what I have right now? I say that because of the amount of problems with this early production router that everyone seems to be having trouble with. Also I maybe on the cusp of distance and interferiance.
I can get the above wrt54gs for $40.00 delivered.
What do you think- I'm sure I can sell this one on ebay for $20-$30

Hick-ups and crashes Lr 4

Lightroom runs reasonably fluid on my machine, I am a pretty heavy user, after so many operations the program will freeze with a notice in the Windows bar "Lightroom <module> not responding". In most cases, after about 5-15 seconds Lightroom continues again with normal operation. During heavy usage, after this has happened a couple of times, Lightroom stops working altogether, then the only solution is to exit and restart of the program (the pull-down menus are still functioning). This can happen in many different circumstances, but usually in the develop module. It is not dependent on other Windows programs running, and all other programs that I use don't have any issues.
I use LR 4.2 RC, but 4.1 had the same issue.

Is there a common action that causes this hickup, such as brushing, or noise removal? Have you instructed LR to automatically write metadata to XMP? Is Lightroom performing other background tasks (uploading, importing, exporting) when this happens?
Do you have other programs running at the same time?

I recently bought the Marantz SR6004 receiver which has a bluetooth receiver (rx101) for wireless audio which works great with my iPhone 3GS and Dell inspirion laptop. Today I tried to do the same thing with my iMac (early 2008).
The connection was easily set up, the iMac sees the rx101 and reads it out as a stereo audio device. When I started iTunes however I continuously had hick-ups and also the audio seemed to be faster and then halt for 0,5 second and then tries to catch up. So something must be wrong but I've looked at all the possible settings but the hick-ups were still there. I also noticed that the cpu usage is a lot higher when streaming audio, around 14% instead of 5% with peaks above the 20%.
No other applications or connections were open at the time I tried.
Other bluetooth devices run smoothly on my machine and the receiver also works well. Does anyone know how to tackle this issue?

I have recently ran into an issue with my new iPhone 5 I went to connect to iTunes and when I did it restored my phone to my iPhone 4 that was previously connected to my laptop, how do I get rid of the iPhone 4 stuff and be able to connect my iPhone 5 without further issues?

If you have a backup in iTunes or iCloud, you can restore it from there.
To check in iTunes, open the Preferences pane and click on Devices > You will see the backups listed there.
You will want to do this on the computer that you typically sync your iPhone to.
Or if you have an iCloud backup, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings and in the setup menu, choose your backup.

Internet Ups and Downs

I have a Mikrotik router model RB751U receiving directly from ISP- feeds 3 Cisco Switches of 24 port each then to Patch panels and to users. I am having internet ups and downs in this way: When i bypass my LAN and log into the router to ping 8.8.8.8 i get
clean pings showing there is internet in my router yet myself connected directly to the router all any user on LAN can't browse. Usually the drops happen different times but with an a.v of 5 every day taking less than 2 minutes and the internet comes up again.
What are the possible causes on this problem???

this forum is related to Network questions belonging with Windows Server problems or from clients to Windows Servers.
In your case it seems that the router/switches are not correct configured.
To check for Windows please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the Windows Server in the LAN, which OS version?

UPS and shutting down servers

Not sure if this thread should be better posted at the OS X Server forum, but let's try it
Today I found the time to connect the UPS to our XServe via USB. It worked great, the UPS appears at ServerMonitor and also at the system preference panels energy settings.
However the UPS has only one USB port, but we have currently two XServes. My intention is to keep the servers running as long as possible till the UPS reaches 25 % left of its energy. Then safely shutting down the servers.
While it is easy to configure this on the server the UPS is connected, I find no setting for doing so at the other system. Basically the "master" XServe (that connects to the UPS) should shut down its "slaves" (the other XServe specifically).
I already dealt with a quite old system some time before (Cobalt RaQ) where it was able to set this up (via the MAC addresses if I'm not wrong).
I would look forward if someone can give me a glue how to realize this on the XServe ?

If your servers have two NICs, there's nothing preventing you from creating a private network between the two using a simple ethernet cable between them. That way they can communicate privately.

No. USB doesn't support this kind of topology. There can only be one bus master. The other machine won't work.

On the contrary. The XServe has a 9-pin serial interface on the back. It's normally configured as a console port for out-of-band management but you can configure it as a standard serial port by disabling SerialTerminalSupport (in /System/Library/StartupItems). However, the issue is then how to read the serial port. I'm guessing the software that ships with the UPS is designed to use the USB port and you may be on your own there.

I don't think it makes a big difference. You'll have the same issues with any UPS vendor.
The only other option I can think of is a network-aware UPS. Some UPSes (such as those from APC) have a network option where you can query the UPS over the network. It would then be relatively simple to query the UPS via SNMP to gauge its runtime and shut down safely. I don't know if the Belkin has this option.

UPS and 2 power supplies

Out of curiosity, what happens if only one of the two power supplies is kept on UPS and the power goes out?

What do you think will happen?
The power supply connected directly to the main power will go offline.
The power supply connected to the UPS will stay up (as will your RAID).
Your UPS will start to drain.
Ultimately, if the power stays off long enough, the UPS will be unable to sustain sufficient voltage and the second power supply will go offline, bringing down your RAID.
Is that what you mean?
Note that the XServe RAID can have a fairly significant power draw. You need to make sure your UPS is sized sufficiently for your expected runtime.

What I suggest is that you try to pair your apple ID with you company ipad and see if it works.
Here is why::
I believe that the Apple rules let you. They are something like:
-- for a shared iDevice, you may put the app on one device
-- for a device you use exclisively, you may put the app on five (or some number) of iDevices
I'm not lawyer, so how you interpred this is a question.
Now, you need to figure out how to do this.
In the past at least, apple used this terminalogy.

    Layered. combines personal & institution.
It depends on how your company has configured the iPad.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are unable to produce audio through an HDMI connection. I apologize for the late response, but I will do my best to assist you. Before anything else, please answer these questions:
1. What is the current computer's operating system? Does the same behaviour occur on multiple operating systems?
2. The title seems to imply that there is no audio when connected to a television, using HDMI. Does this only occur when you connect to a television? Will it occur if you connect to something else using HDMI?
3. Have you tried connecting to a television using VGA or DVI? If so, what are the results?
As an additional suggestion, for now, I would review the television's manual to confirm that everything is correct from the television's standpoint.

- Keychain (includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some applications)
If you encrypt the backup, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you're restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you need to enter these passwords again.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Hi guys
I can't figure out how to make my iMac and Mac mini talk to each other... let me explain better...
I have a wired Linksys router that always worked ok connecting the iMac and a Windows XP... I used to connect them by SMB... I haven't been able to do the same with both Macs... do I have to enable "file sharing" or something?
Is there a way I can connect both macs wirelessly? even having a wired connection to the internet? both Macs have Blue Tooth and Airport ...
What I want...
I want to be able to share a printer connected to the iMac and have both HD mounted ALL THE TIME on both machines... so I would be able to work on the mini and save to the iMac... share my iTunes library that stays on the mini...
I am only being able to share my internet connection using the wired router... that's it... I can't go farther than that... why?
Sorry for the dumb question... I know it is supposed to be quite simple but I got stuck...

If you want the Mac's hard drives to always appear on each other's systems when they start up, you must have Personal File Sharing enabled on both systems. Once on, connect both Macs to each other, and click the little checkboxes next to the selected hard drive in the connection window. If each Mac requires a username and password, make sure to add those passwords to the keychain.
