Connection iMac - iPhone
Hi all.
I have an iMac (march 2013 - OS X 10.8.5) and an iPhone 5S with iOs 7.0.6
Both are registered with the same Apple ID and consequently with the same cell phone number assigned.
My question is: is possible to connect my Mac and my iPhone with facetime with the same Apple ID?
Both devices' Facetime are configured in the same way (same Apple ID as I wrote).
First time I tried to call the devices each other - from Mac to iPhone and vice versa - Facetime didn't work.
Calling from Mac to iPhone, the cell made only one ring then dropped the call with no possibility to answer.
Calling from iPhon to Mac happened the same thing.
It seemed as when you try to call yourself at the phone, the line seemed occupied
There's some particular configuration to apply?
Maybe I need 2 different Apple IDs, one for the Mac and the other for the iPhone in order to make Facetime work?

You're using the right port, have you tried a different port, different cable? One or both might be faulty. Do not use the keyboard port. Many iMacs have USB 1.0 (or 1.1) ports. This means that they only work with devices that supply their own power, not those that need power sent to them via USB 2.0.
The iPhone is a USB 2.0 device, so it needs to draw power from the USB port – something the USB 1.1 ports on the keyboard can’t offer.

Bluetooth between Mac and iPhone is only for Internet Sharing (which is network dependent, but generally requires you to pay for a tethering package).
Unlike most mobile phones you can't use Bluetooth File Exchange to view the iPhone on a Mac. :-/

Hi all.
The simple question was: when I'm away from home how can I call my iMac (see "home") with facetime?
Same Apple ID on both devices and sure same cell phone number.
It was just like I want to call myself with one phone number.
This option seems not to be contemplated in the use of Facetime on the official guides.
After a couple of hours of investigation on the net and some tries I finally found the solution.
In brief, I set phone and pc this way:
in your iPhone go in Settings -> Facetime -> You can be reached by facetime at (here insert yor cell phone number)
Instead on your iMac in Facetime preferences -> You can be reached by facetime at (here insert a valid email address eg. the one used as Apple ID)
It works on the 3G net.
Hope it could help some other desperate soul looking to solve this trick.

PS: if you like, use different Apple IDs on both devices, but I dont know how it will impact on the syncronization.You can give her the phone and she can activate it; you can activate the new phone on your current number. I think you can just switch SIM cards with her, but call AT&T to make sure. This might be the time to get a family plan; a 2nd iPhone that share minutes with yours is just an additional $30/month.

Launch iTunes on your Mac, plug your phone in, select it in the sidebar, select what you want to sync under the various tabs, hit the sync button. If the sidebar is not visible, go up to the "View" menu & select "Show Sidebar".

If you don't have a wifi router and your Mac has wifi capabilities you can hookup to the internet over wifi from your Mac to your iPhone.

Make sure you use WPA2 Personal for Security... Hit ok... Turn on the wifi... Same as above with the iPhone, log into your wifi settings on the iPhone.

I just got a new iMac and want to use it for iTunes. when i connect my iPhone how do i transfer everything in my iPhone to this new computer?

I have a BTHub4 - My iMac, iPhone, and children's iPads all connect to the internet no problem. I cannot get my 2 MacBook Pros or my partners MacBook Air to connect. Have tried diagnostics - says to change DNS but it is correct. I have re-set both router and all laptops - no joy. They can all see the network but cannot connect.
This is extraordinary. I have moved the router and also tried resetting it to its factory strings. We have had this router for over a year and all our devices have always worked. Now all four laptops will not connect to the internet. Only one oMac and our phones and iPad.
I have had far more devices running at once before but now all laptops are timing out on connection. Some say this iIP address is already being used but if I manually set to a slightly different IP address it does not help, noir if I manually set to the correct IP address. Why would all our laptops (four) suddenly be unable to connect? -

How do i get a wifi connection between iphone and iMac?
I downloaded the app "CityMaps2Go". Some of the maps I need are bigger than 20MB and Apple doesn't allow to download that amount over a regular 3G telephone connection. "CityMaps2Go" is asking me to connect via Wifi to download bigger maps. But I have no Wifi right now here at home available. My iMac runs with DSL6000 from Deutsche Telekom (High Speed Internet). Even tough my router has WLAN available, it is not konfigured for Apple hardware (I guess, never worked) But the Internet connection for my iMac is very fast, so no problem there. Here my question: While my iMac is online and connected, can I somehow connect my iphone via wifi to my iMac, so I can download those bigger maps from "CityMaps2Go"??? Thank you!
Just download the updates via iTunes on your Mac and then sync your iPhone to update them.
You cannot simply create a Wi-Fi connection between your computer and your iPhone, you must have a Wi-Fi router or access point to connect to. -

How Apple let that happen??Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

Lately when I connect my iPhone or iPad to my iMac to update files, when I select events and photos to add, iTunes does not import all events or all photos from these events. It tells me that 672 photos were not imported and to check iTunes. (10 Where in iTunes do I check to find out what the problem is in not importing these images? (2) Why is iTunes not importing all selected events from my photos or skipping (not importing) selected photos?
i figured this out through other posts. simply turn your restrictions off and restart your phone. all apps should be open to you.

You can import iPhone camera roll photos/videos using any computer you want...this has nothing to do with iTunes or syncing.
