Connection issues dropping multiple times

When with talk talk they changed the profile to 12db interleaved which seemed to be a lot better, can this be done for me with BT?

welcome to the forum
that could be done but it may some forum members can offer some help which may get the noise problem solved and enable the noise margin to remain at 6
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

• I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
Wireless Devices:
Playstation 3
Macbook Air
iPhone 5c
iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

• Network Connection Suddenly Drops Several Times Per Day

We have a couple of macs in our office whose network connections drop several times per day. The two main ones are both 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini's — one running OS 10.4.8 and the other 10.4.9. Our server is a Windows
Server 2003 Pentium 4, 3 GHz computer and we use a Linksys 24 port 10/100 Ethernet switch. On occasion, someone else's mac drop their network connection but it seems to be much more frequent with these two. Our other macs are a mixture of other Mac Mini's, iMacs, G4's, etc. all running either OS 10.4.8 or 10.4.9.
Any ideas??????
Thanks,
Neil Brown
iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The network connection is still dropping with switching around. In addition, starting this morning, my network connections as well as another person's are dropping suddenly too. The only pattern I can see with mine so far is it seems if I am away from my computer for a few minutes and come back, my network connection has dropped (i.e. the individual "shares" that I have mounted on my desktop, so I have to go back to Connect to Server, log in and mount those again). Our ethernet switch is new, and we had been experiencing this problem before with our old switch, so that didn't solve the problem.
I'm not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Neil

• Wifi connection requires restart multiple times a day

6 with 8.2
Every day I must reboot to connect to the Internet with wifi. Depending on use, I might have to reboot 4 or more times. At minimum I do it every morning. I took it to the Apple Store but they suggested replacing the phone. I can't do that. I have apps with single use codes totaling $1500. Am I screwed or can this be fixed?
In addition, this phone has always sounded like I'm talking into a tin can.

Sublightnova DD-WRT has a generic and mini firmware for 150n. I upgraded mine using mini version(listed under broadcom on their website). It was very easy, it is no different than upgrading original linksys firmware. It looks like my connection drops have stopped after upgrade.

• Internet dropping multiple times an hour, extremely slow! Please HELP!

I am experiencing constant internet drops, and significantly reduced speed when it actually works. I've about had it with comcast, I'm an inch away from filing a complaint with the FCC and canceling my service. I've had this issue for months. Last week a technician came out, then left without resolving the issue. Said everything was fine tested all the cables, replaced some outside and went his way. I had someone come out again today, because not only are we still having constant timeouts, but when the internet is working it's fluctuates from mediocre speed to poor speed, 13.5 mbps to as low as 2 mbps. Keep in mind, I'm paying for 100 mbps. I've gone through 3 routers in the past week and a half, the tech that came out today yielded the same results - no joy on the constant disconnects or sluggish speeds. I've spent all day long speaking to rude, unhelpful customer service representatives on the phone. Now I get to wait another 2 days for yet another technician to come out this thursday. The issue I'm experiencing according to the logs is a T3 Timeout, everytime I am disconnected it reflects as such in the logs. There is no event recorded for the speed drops however. Looking around the forums, people are saying this is an issue with the wiring experiencing noise or something. Not one of the techs who came out said that. All comcast seems to suggest is replacing models, resetting or throwing technicians at the problem who can't even solve it. This customer service is abysmal. We are paying an outrageous amount of money to be having so many drops every hour, and to not receive the speed we are owed. My account is also not showing my new modem, it still displays the old modems mac address as current. I called comcast and they insist it's showing the new on their end, but my accounts page does not reflect that. Here is my downstream ndex12345678910111213141516Lock StatusLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedFrequency663 MHz615 MHz621 MHz627 MHz633 MHz639 MHz645 MHz651 MHz657 MHz669 MHz675 MHz681 MHz687 MHz693 MHz699 MHz705 MHzSNR38.983 dB38.605 dB38.605 dB38.605 dB38.983 dB38.605 dB38.605 dB38.605 dB38.983 dB38.983 dB38.605 dB37.636 dB38.605 dB37.636 dB37.356 dB37.356 dBPower5.600 dBmV5.400 dBmV5.600 dBmV5.700 dBmV5.700 dBmV5.800 dBmV5.800 dBmV5.900 dBmV5.600 dBmV5.500 dBmV5.400 dBmV5.200 dBmV5.100 dBmV4.800 dBmV4.600 dBmV4.400 dBmVModulation256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM And my upstream Index1234Lock StatusLockedLockedLockedLockedFrequency14 MHz23 MHz29 MHz36 MHzSymbol Rate5120 KSym/sec5120 KSym/sec5120 KSym/sec5120 KSym/secPower Level48.250 dBmV48.250 dBmV50.250 dBmV50.750 dBmVModulation64 QAM64 QAM64 QAM64 QAMChannel ID4321 I have 0 correctable or uncorrectable codewords. My current modem/router's model number is - Cisco DPC3941T Is there anything wrong with these values, and if so what? • Connect to DataStore multiple times

Hi,
I'm connecting to an ASAM-ODS-Server via
Call OdsOpen("AOP5", param, 0, 0)
where param is "<corba typ="sessionior">IOR_STRING</corba>". This way, I can connect as many times as I want (every time I start the script). Now I'm trying the more comfortable way with:
Set oStore = Navigator.ConnectDataStoreByParameter("AOP5", param)
This way, the connection is only created once, when I'm trying to start the script the second time I get the error message "...DataStore "NoName" can't be opened.". The old way with "OdsOpen" didn't work either (ErrorCode 104). What am I doing wrong?
With best regards,
Martin Kozlowski
DIAdem 2012
Solved!
Go to Solution.

There is a great difference between OdsOpen and Navigator.ConnectDataStore...
OdsOpen "", "STORENAME", 0, 0
matches
dim store : set store = navigator.ConnectDataFinder(STORENAME)
OdsOpen "AOP5", "<corba typ=""sessionior"">IOR_STRING</corba>", 0, 0
matches
dim store : set store = navigator.ConnectDataStoreByParameter("AOP5", "<corba typ=""sessionior"">IOR_STRING</corba>")
And here the difference. When the variable store gets out of scope the ASAM ODS Corba session is closed. This would also happen if you terminate your
OdsOpen with the OdsClose that should match it. Else the session will stay open till the server times it out.
In your case this means the session with your IOR no longer exists after script has finished.
What would work around?
You would have to create a global variable in a user command and assign the open to it. The global scope will stay open till you call close or assign nothing.
You open the store in Navigator which will keep it open till you close it. (navigator.Display.OpenDataStoreByParameter)
There is an additional difference.
OdsOpen will establish one connection to the server for each Open you call. Have a look at File->ASAMDataService and watch all your open stores holding client and server resources
navigator.???? will not open a new server connection if the parameter string is equal. So if you want to open it twice append some xml <abc>1</abc> ...
Either way the best way to work like you do it is openeing the store in Navigator GUI. Second best is the global parameter but this one is harder to set up.
Most imports or ASAM scripts that I know work with a single open ....... and a close when script is finished.
Hope this helps

• JDBC connection issue with multiple DBs on same instance

I have two databases on one sql server 2012 instance. One called 'demotime' the other called 'demotime_dev'. how ever when I change in my JDBC connection the DB from demotime to demotime_dev. the connection still remains established with
the demotime, is there any known reason to cause this? does both being on the same instance have anything to do with the problem?

Do your application may send a "USE [demotime]" command to Switch to the database? Do you may use a config file in your application where the database is still pointing to the other database?

• WRT54GC dropped connection to modem at times

My WRT54GC is connected to my ADSL modem using a LAN cable and initially everything works well.
Recently, my wireless connection will dropped at times and when I did a check, my modem's LAN indicator has no light. I tried pulling out the cable and reattaching them to both the wireless router and the modem but the light is still off. I then tried to connect directly from the modem to my macbook and the modem's LAN indicator light up again and I can use the internet. To solve the problem of the WRT54GC, I had to turn off its power and turn it on again in order to get it's LAN connection working with the modem again.
The LAN connection drop to the modem happens intermittently and it is really a hassle to turn it on and off again and again. I am wondering if it is because of any settings I have made or is it the wireless router's flaw? Any help or advice much appreciated.
(p.s. i am not able to upgrade the firmware as it keeps telling me that the .img file i have downloaded FROM Linksys is an unrecognized file)

Hi ghost11, you mean the LAN problem happened after you upgraded the firmware? This is bad. Mine is already dropping without the firmware upgrade. And upgrading can't be done as it kept giving me the error that the .img file is not a regconizable format. I've also tried countless factory resets. Perhaps there's a way to downgrade/uninstall the firmware? All the best.

• Random Connectivity Issues with Time Capsule

I am having random connectivity issues with my time capsule with my intel based iMac. I don't have any issues with my MacAir, iPads or iPhones... just the iMac. It shows a "good" connection but sometimes... TC won't be able to connect to run a backup or I can't get to the internet. It doesn't appear to be an internet problem as I can get to the internet on other devices. It appears to be a connection issue between the iMAC and the TC. Thoughts or suggestions?

Do a full reset of the iMac.. apparently after the latest Mountain Lion update it can cause issues. I have not needed to try this as I have not seen it myself but I track the treads very closely and this popped up.

• Airport extreme connection issues

Yesterday, I bought a new Comcast-compatible modem (Motorola SB5101) and an airport extreme. These replaced an old (5 years or so) SB5101 and an equally-old airport express, which was too old for my new MacBook Pro to be able to manage it through airport utility.
I replaced both components because I got sick of my internet connection dropping constantly, many times a day for the last few years. (I know, but it's true!)
Comcast insists that the signal coming into the house is fine and is constant, so it's not the ISP dropping the connection.
The cable comes into the house, into the modem. Ethernet goes from the modem into a Sprint AirRave (Sprint says that must be how it's set up). From the AirRave, the ethernet goes to the airport express. From there, I can connect computers and devices wirelessly, but from the airport express, an ethernet also goes into my home distribution panel, so that in each room of the house you can plug directly into the ethernet (about 8 outlets).
The problem happens whether or not the AirRave is installed.
Sometimes the connection drops for a few seconds and re-connects. Most often when it drops, and I go into Network Preferences Diagnostics, Wi-Fi = green light; same with Wi-Fi Settings, Network Settings, and ISP. But Internet and Server = yellow.
Sometimes running the diagnostic fixes it and it re-connects. Other times you must reset the airport and/or the modem. Sometimes it will not re-connect even after multiple times re-setting those deivces.
Since installing the airport extreme yesterday, sometimes I get a message on my Macbook Pro that says my MAC address is being used by another device (?).
I have no knowledge about networks AT ALL, no idea how my computer can have the same MAC address as anything else, no idea what specific settings I should be using -- I always have let the setup happen automatically.
If anyone has any idea how to solve this I'd be very grateful. I'm not sure whether I've given enough details, like I say I lknow NOTHING about how to set up a Network.
It was a nightmare setting it up yesterday, once I got it up according to instructions, I was in an endless loop -- every time I tried to open a page in my browser, I was taken to the Comcast Setup page instead, asking for my phone number and account number. Entering this took me to a new page saying "unable to connect with our system." I was on the phone with Comcast forever trying to fix it, resetting the modem and airport over and over again. Eventually somehow it worked, but later that night (and again already this morning) the connection has dropped a number of times.
I thought getting new components would fix the problem, now I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do.
Anyone?
Thanks!!
-- Craig.

Since installing the airport extreme yesterday, sometimes I get a message on my Macbook Pro that says my MAC address is being used by another device (?).
This usually indicates that there may be something amiss with the NAT service or that each network client cannot access it properly.
To verify that the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), Motorola modem, or Internet service is NOT the issue, we will temporarily remove the AirRave from the network equation.
To do so, please power-down the modem, AirRave, AEBSn, and computer(s). While they are all powered-down, disconnect the Ethernet cable going to the AirRave.
Next,
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the AirRave and Ethernet distribution patch panel.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Temporarily connect the Ethernet cable coming from the modem to the WAN port of the AEBSn.
Reconnect the Ethernet cables coming from the AEBSn's LAN ports to the Ethernet Distribution Patch Panel.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

• I'm having FaceTime connectivity issues

I'm having FaceTime connectivity issues. Every time I FaceTime other apple user the connections drops right away.

Well I'm here to own up. My dad was over today and he has an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.1 and mine ran 6.1.2. Over the table both on my wifi I tried to call him on facetime and he tried to call me, in both cases it failed due to lost connection as previously discussed. He said they had used it to call my brother in england yesterday with no issue.
I bit the bullet and decided with extreme reluctance to do the upgrade. I did a full backup whilst downloading the update on my windows pc and after the sync I applied the update. Luckily for apple's sake the facetime connection now works both ways but I'm still left with this hideously atrocious UI color scheme. I can however report that i can see no noticable reduction in performance so far. As per suggested on some sites I disabled automatic downloads & updates and tweaked the accessibility settings to "reduce motion" and "increase contrast" including enabling button shapes and reducing white point. Everything seems to work fine and Thankfully I don'rt feel like I have a hobbled device. Clearly something between 7.0 and 7.1.1 has brought iPad 2 back up to speed so to speak.
Oh and I still hate you Apple, cheers.

Reset the TC to factory and start again.
But do not be surprised if the v5 utility no longer works to do the setup.

• Is there a problem with FaceTime, can not connect. When dial it connects and drops. When friends are calling me they have calling message and I have connecting but it does not connect. Need help, face time is my life line.

Face time not working. When dialled it says connecting and drops immediately. When my friends calling it show connecting but it does not.
Is there a problem with face time. I am in south Africa, it was working perfectly up to Easter. Please help this is my life line.

There is a barely acknowledged issue. For Mac users Apple has released an update to the app, but for iOS users the recommendation is for users to update their ipad to the most recent operating system.
There may be a fix coming for iOS6 users (which seem to be many of those having problems) or there may not be. If your ipad isn't up to date then you can update it and see if that helps, or if you don't want to update then you may want to wait and see if there is either a fix or if it fixes itself.
