Connection lost contact error

Hello,
I get the following error:
RMAN-06900: WARNING: unable to generate V$RMAN_STATUS or V$RMAN_OUTPUT row
RMAN-06901: WARNING: disabling update of the V$RMAN_STATUS and V$RMAN_OUTPUT rows
ORACLE error from target database:
ORA-03135: connection lost contact
by a full database backup command: backup as copy incremental level 0 database tag level_0;
The backup goes on, further datafiles are copied.
Than the backup ends with this error:
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00601: fatal error in recovery manager
RMAN-03004: fatal error during execution of command
The first error seems to be a timeout problem so I modified the parameters in the sqlnet.ora.
current settings:
SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME=5
SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=300
SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT=300
SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT=300
The modifications haven't solved the error.
The second error is to generally and I don't know, if this error is in relationship to the first error. Where can I find more information about the second error on my database server?
DB version 10gR2 on RedHat Linux ES4
Best regards,
Mathias

Hi Tycho,
I suggest that the backup causes the high load, because at normal operation time the load is between 0.2 and 2.
I use no compression and only one channel.
RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 3;
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK BACKUP TYPE TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET PARALLELISM 1;
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
backup command:
allocate channel c1 type disk format '...';
backup as copy incremental level 0 database tag level_0;
I can retry everytime, but I have no idea what I can configure to get a better result (no errors).
Means 'CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK BACKUP TYPE TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET PARALLELISM 1;' compression is used for my backup command?
Regards,
Mathias

  • SQL*LOADER script with ORA-03135: connection lost contact error

    Hello,
    I got a really strange problem with a script that transfer data from a database to an other. Each day we recieve the raw data in zipped txt files, then we feed it to the database with SQL Loader. This worked fine until two weeks ago. At first, I thought the error must have been in the script, but it didn't change at all since 3 months. And the weirdest thing is that sometime it works without any problems, but now I get almost anytime the "ORA-03135: connection lost contact" and it seems to happen randomly. It never fails at the same place , thought the data I feed the script is always the same.
    I'm new to SQL*Loader and since the script seems to send all the data, I don't understand where that error come from. Can I do something on my workstation or the problem is on the database server ?
    I think the problem would be that the connection get a timeout out on the server, but we never got that problem on the production server and it has a lot more data to transfer then my little test script.
    Have you any idea on whjat the problem could be ?

    03135, 00000, "connection lost contact"
    // *Cause:  1) Server unexpectedly terminated or was forced to terminate.
    //          2) Server timed out the connection.
    // *Action: 1) Check if the server session was terminated.
    //          2) Check if the timeout parameters are set properly in sqlnet.ora.I would suspect networking issues external to sqlldr & Oracle

  • ORA-03135: connection lost contact Error

    Hi,
    My Application access data from Oracle 10g. Applications hangs when update/delete a specific row in a table. After few minutes application terminates with ORA-03135 error. Rest of application works fine which access around 150+ tables.
    If i connect to My Client database server. This works fine. After long analysis, we identified that Update/Delete query on a table hangs due to row level locks. This is not handled on our dtabase server. It was handled in Client database server. So it is working.
    Please tell me if any one has any idea, what settings could be wrong with Oracle server. How can we avoid hangs in row level locks without changing the application from DB server side.
    Thanks

    If you look up the ORA-03135 error you'll find the following:
    Cause
    1) Server unexpectedly terminated or was forced to terminate.
    2) Server timed out the connection.
    Action
    1) Check if the server session was terminated.
    2) Check if the timeout parameters are set properly in sqlnet.ora.
    A good starting point I would think

    You are right, i added the complete error
    By chance do yo have a recommendation where can i look for to find the source problem?
    Because in oracle client's logs or database's logs i can't find the ORA-03135 : connection lost contact

  • Starting Oracle 11gr2 Im getting Error: ORA-03135: connection lost contact

    Hi Guys!
    Thanks for your advises. I still working toward a resolution.
    But I encountered another issue from Enterp Manager :
    ERROR : Please correct the following error: Connection string must be specified.
    My connection has this format:
    //using connection string attributes to connect to Oracle Database
      con.ConnectionString = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
      con.Open();
      Console.WriteLine("Connected to Oracle" + con.ServerVersion);
    Please tell me what is wrong here. Thanks. Dan.

    Hi,
    Please check Oracle support id : Troubleshooting ORA-3135 Connection Lost Contact (Doc ID 787354.1)

  • DRM Batch Client Error - ORA03135 connection lost contact

    Hi All,
    We have the DRM 11g installed on Windows machine and migrated this server recently to a new datacenter(DC1) however the database connected to this DRM server is still on the original datacenter(DC2).
    DRM works fine after the migration except for few issues in the nightly jobs scheduled on DRM server for doing exports. The scheduled job is invoking DRM batch client and failing with the following error.
    Unexpected error in drm-batch-client: Error received from DRM Process Manager service using address: net.tcp://localhost:5210/Oracle/Drm/ProcessManager/: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    However this error does not occur if we restart the DRM services(thru config console) and rerrun the batch client automatically. Looks like DRM is loosing connectivity to the application server process , is it anything do with the timeouts between IIS and Weblogic server ?
    Any insights on this problem would be really helpful.
    Thanks,
    RB

    Hi RB,
    This isn't going to be connection between IIS and Weblogic as DRM does not use Weblogic (aside from the manual configuration for the DRM web service). The error that you're getting is being returned from your database server and seems to indicate that the connection to the Oracle database server has been dropped for some reason. There are some suggestions on what to do to try and resolve the ORA-03135 error here ORA-03135 Connection Lost Contact Tips

  • Getting Error ORA-03135: connection lost contact

    Hi all.
    I've followed the various steps to setting up the HS connection (Oracle APEX to MS SQL SERVER 2005)
    However when I attempt to "select 'x' from tabley@RemoteConn" it immediately gives me the following error:
    SQL> select 'x' from tabley@RemoteConn;
    select 'x' from tabley@RemoteConn
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-02068: following severe error from RemoteConn
    ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    TNSPing works fine when hitting the entry, the data source is up and correctly configured. I've been using a lan-based sql server at the office, and a pc-based "virtual sql server" from home. Both producing the same error.
    Anyone else run into this?
    Thanks!

    which product and which version are you using?
    we need to see a trace what happens; but the trace settings differ from product to product and version to version.

  • TNS: lost contact error consuming https web services

    Hi,
    I'm trying this piece of pl/sql code and I'm getting TNS: lost contact error while trying to retrieve soap response. What could be wrong? I'm using oracle 10.2.0.1.0 database. Thanks in advance.
    declare
    envio varchar2(32767);
    peticion UTL_HTTP.req;
    respuesta UTL_HTTP.resp;
    cadena varchar2(32767);
    begin
    envio := 'xxx'; -- soap request
    Utl_Http.Set_Response_Error_Check ( enable => true );
    Utl_Http.Set_Detailed_Excp_Support ( enable => true );
    utl_http.set_wallet('file:/oracle/wallets','xxx');
    peticion := UTL_HTTP.begin_request ('https://xxx','POST','HTTP/1.1');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(peticion, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(peticion, 'Content-Length', LENGTH(envio));
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(peticion, 'SOAPAction','');
    UTL_HTTP.write_text(peticion,envio);
    respuesta := UTL_HTTP.get_response(peticion);
    UTL_HTTP.read_text(respuesta, envio);
    UTL_HTTP.end_response(respuesta);
    dbms_output.put_line(envio);
    exception
    when Utl_Http.Request_Failed then
    Dbms_Output.Put_Line ( 'Request_Failed: ' || Utl_Http.Get_Detailed_Sqlerrm );
    when Utl_Http.Http_Server_Error then
    Dbms_Output.Put_Line ( 'Http_Server_Error: ' || Utl_Http.Get_Detailed_Sqlerrm );
    when Utl_Http.Http_Client_Error then
    Dbms_Output.Put_Line ( 'Http_Client_Error: ' || Utl_Http.Get_Detailed_Sqlerrm );
    when others then
    Dbms_Output.Put_Line ('Otros: ' || SQLERRM);
    end;

    The problem is a database bug:
    Bug 5575771 UTL_HTTP cannot handle https connections without a content-length
    If UTL_HTTP is used to retrieve an HTTPS response with no content-length, it
    throws an ORA-12547 on the final read (if the final read is shorter than the
    buffer supplied).
    Workaround:
    Include a Content-Length section on all responses.
    (This may not be possible since some responses may not
    be under your control)

  • If createConnection hit "connection lost contact" then "invalid OCI handle"

    I am facing a peculiar error with OCCI API :
    The c++ application make use of OCCI API to interact with 10 different oracle DBs sequentially in loop, but the moment
    pConn = pEnv->createConnection(a_usr, a_pass, a_connection) for 1 slow db is hit with "ORA-03135: connection lost contact" then
    for all the remaining other db execution I get a constant error - "ORA-32102: invalid OCI handle" i.e
    when the control moves to next db then "pConn = pEnv->createConnection" is successful for all the rest db but when
    pRes = pStmt->executeQuery() is executed I get this - "ORA-32102: invalid OCI handle" standard error.
    The rest of dbs are live, cross checked with SQLPLUS.
    The OCCI resources and handlers are initialized in class and remains in memory till the end of the application. In healthy situation the application works fine for all10 dbs and handles all the ORA errors well except for this situation.
    Question: When OCCI hit ORA-03135 error in createConnection method , does OCCI releases the memory (or handlers) ..? If yes then with the same "env" handler why OCCI succeeds in making the next connection and we have correct "con" handler, similarly "createStatement" is also successful but this same "statement" handler the executeQuery() fails with -invalid OCI handle ??
    In healthy situation all logic works just fine, I am able to get the data that means sql queries and resultset handle code is perfect.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vijay

    If you haven't found a solution for this yet, could you post the entire section of code? Please use the code tag to post the code.

    Why would I be losing connection? The restore worked with a 10G restore I did with the same catalog on the same server.
    Regards

    Are the Oracle versions for both the source database home and the target database home the same (INCLUDING patchlevel)? Obviously you are trying to restore to an already patched ORACLE_HOME. ORA-03135 is only the consequence, but problem reasons are RMAN-10041 and RMAN-10024.

  • ORA-03135: connection lost contact

    Hi All
    My application is using "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production" and Oracle 11g client v11.1.0.6.0.
    My application server runs continuously and checks for new requests. But problem occurs when I do not send any request to my server for 40-45 minutes i.e. server is idle or doing nothing except checking new incoming requests for those 40-45 minutes. After that if I try to connect my server by sending some request, it shows following error message and my server crashes:
    Message String: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    Process ID: 7586034
    Session ID: 61
    Thanks in advance.

  • ORA-03135: connection lost contact with setDataBuffer and next(no. of rows)

    Hi,
         I have a cursor of 16 columns with datatypes of VARCHAR or NUMBER , I have used setDataBuffer to set the buffers appropriately. Now, when I call next(1000) I am getting an exception "ORA-03135: connection lost contact". But, the connection is not closed from the application side. What could be the possible reason? Please help me out with the same.

    All are in same data center on similar phisical hardware with same windows OS. Only difference I can see is a folder with instaclient 11 on the machines where it fails.
