Connection lost, every 3 min or so

Here's my problem. During video or audio chat's, after a few minutes, the connection is lost.
I will still see the person, and they are telling me that they have lost the connection, but they can no longer hear or see me. Then I get the message "No data for 10 seconds". This has suddenly been happening the past few months. I am guessing it's my internet connection.
I have an airport extreme hooked up to my cable modem, sending dynamic IPs to 4 macs. Any one had similar issues? Thanks!
-Brett

Hi Brett,
I have an airport extreme hooked up to my cable modem, sending dynamic IPs to 4 macs.
Which of those two devices is doing the IP addressing ?
(I can read it either way)
If you se the 10 Sec error message it means they disappeared first according to your iChat. However it seems you are "missing" from your Buddies first.
What is your System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab speed set to ?
This should match your download speed upto a Max of 1.5meg

  • Network connection drops every 15 mins

    Hi all,
i'm loosing network access on my iMac. This has started tonight, I had never had any problem before. My iMac is connected through Ethernet interface to a switch, then access to a router and finally to the modem cable. I have several other computers on this home network, all of them working properly and accessing to Internet without any problem.
Only the iMac is behaving strangely, and only since a few hours.
When the problem occurs, everything seems normal : LEDs are on on the switch, ifconfig -a gives a normal report (interface up, IP address ok within network range (no APIPA), netstat -rn OK), and i have no entry in system. log or whatsoever. But I can't nervertheless access to any Internet site, nor can I even ping my defaut router.
I began to "solve" the problem by rebooting the mac, then found that, when the problem occurs, I can solve it by going to Network preferences, advanced options, TCP/IP tab and press the "renew DHCP lease". Then everything works fine for 15 minutes, and I have to renew this operation.
The strange thing is that I used the iMac this morning and it was working fine. When I switched it on again tonight, the problem appeared .... Nothing changed, execpt one thing (but I can't find any connection) : the World of Warcraft laucher has been updated this morning !  But I can not imagine that this might generate trouble on the TCP/IP stack of Mac OS X !!!!
When the network connection is lost, all traffic is stopped, not only HTTP. If I'm for example playing WoW, I loose the connection to the game servers. Renewing the DHCP lease fixes the problem if done quickly enough.
I know I never had this problem before, as I'm connected to WoW almost every day and could so far play without any problem for (sometimes) hours.
I've seen some posts describing more or less the same behavior, but no answers so far. Surprisingly, many of them reports problems occuring every 15 mins.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks.
    PhC.

    Hello,
I've found a workaround : I've switched my TCP/IP config to static IP address and everything is working fine so far.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Connection lost" every time I wake from sleep

I bought my MBP with the wireless mighty mouse and for the past 2 or so months I've had no complaints about the bluetooth connection.
Now, every time I wake my computer from sleep the square comes up saying "Connection Lost" at the bottom center of my screen then about 5 seconds after my mouse pairs again.
Why's it doing this? Never did before...
I' not too sure if I'm being to nit-picking or a perfectionist but it just didn't do it before.
Am I crazy or does everyone's do this?
    Thanks
    -Mike

    Hi MIke:
I do not have a similar configuration (I rarely turn mu desktop iMacs off). When I do shut them down, the wireless devices are connected automatically.
However, if your mouse does pair, I would try "normal" troubleshooting as that could possibly cause additional problems.

P.S. I am also curios about anomalies myself!

  • Connection lost every few days

I've been using AirPort Extreme (actually AirMac Extreme, coz I bought it in Japan) for many months, during which course of time I had to try to reconnect for countless times. Connection is lost every few days. At first I tried everything, and opened AirPort Setup Utility again and again. I even called AppleCare. The guy on the phone told me to take the AirMac to the local repair center. But then I discovered that if only I either unplugged the Broadband modem or the AirMac for a few minutes, I could re-establish connection again. Is it normal for the AirMac to be unplugged every now and then so that I can be functional?

For most users - no - it is not normal to have to periodically unplug the Airport Express to re-establish a connection with the ISP. While it is possible this reflects a marginally defective Airport Base Station, there are some ISPs that routinely drop client connections to prevent people from maintaining a constant connection they aren't actually using.

  • Internet connection down every 20 mins

    Hello, everyone
Today I asked my ISP to configure my modem/router as a bridge, and then connected a TL-WR541G (TP-LINK) router to manage ports and such.
Since then, after every 20 minutes Internet access goes down, I'm still connected (apparently) to the network, but with the exclamation mark and the legend: "No internet access" or "No network access". The only solution to this is to unplug the power supply, wait 10 seconds and plug it again. After that, Internet access is back. This generally happens every 20 mins, but it has lasted up to 1 hour with good connectivity before it goes down again.
The router has DHCP enabled, but I have a surveillance ip camera with an IP fixed to its MAC address (in order to let the port open correctly every time I reset the camera). The DHCP range, of course, doesn't include the ip fixed to the camera. Even so, I got a "two devices with the same IP" error a couple of times, even when this wasn't happening according to the connected devices list in the router configuration.
    Modem: Motorola SBG901
    Router: TL-WR541G
Connected devices: notebook (DELL Inspiron N4110, Windows 7), surveillance camera (TL-SC3171G), desktop PC, Tablet, 2 smartphones, Smart TV.
If any log or other information is required, please let me know.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Webservice connection lost every week between AS and Database

    Hi,
We installed succesfully a PL/SQL webservice on OAS 10.1.2.0.2 in a seperate OC4J container. Every container has his own datasource file
Every weekend after backup and startup of the database the connection is lost.
(Same appears when the PL/SQL function is re-compiled.)
So every monday morning we have to manually restart the OC4J container.
( We don't restart the whole AS only the OC4J container.)
Is there a way to prevent this loss of the connection?
Do I have to configure something on OAS?
    thanks in advance

  • Safari connection lost on iPad mini

I updated my desk top to Mavericks and now can't connect to safari on my ipad mini?

    Hi melindachris,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I'm not sure I understand how these two issues are related.   I'm going to share with you a couple of articles that may resolve this issue.
First, close all open apps on your iPad, restart & reset it.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

  • PPTP connection dropped every 120 mins

    Hi guys,
I am using a pptp server running on windows 2008 server and I have configured my ASA 5520 to let the PPTP traffic to pass throught.
The solution works quite well but exactly every 120 minutes the connection drops and people have to reconnect. Is there any setting to change? In the PPTP server I haven't found any setting to change.
    Thanks,
    Dario

    Hi Jennifer,
I have the following timeouts on my config. None of them sounds to me like a pptp timeout... :-(
    arp timeout 14400

    (INTERNAL-DC1 is the PPTP server).

  • My iPad and my iPhone will not FaceTime, it says connection lost every time?

FOr the past few days my iPad and iPhone won't connect to FaceTime. I have tried different wifi connections but they still won't connect. How cani fix this?

Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Unfortunately, we may have to wait until Apple is more forthcoming with information.

  • HT204380 iOS6 has broken FaceTime on my iPod Touch. It keeps saying 'Connection Lost' every time I try to make a call. Can this be fixed?

I am very annoyed at FaceTime breaking! it is a feature of my iPod that I use alot and iOS6 broke it. I have noticed a few iPad users complaining aswell. As there is no legit way of downgrading that is out of the question. So please I ask is there a way to fix this problem?

  • TS1398 iPad 2 keeps losing wifi connection about every 3 minutes no matter where I am in my house. Very annoying. help?

iPad 2 keeps losing wifi connection about every 3 mins no matter where I am in the house - Help?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • My wifi loses connection to my phone and laptop at the same time every 30 mins or so.

    Hey all.
I have a WRT160 V2 router with firmware  v2.0.02. I have had the router for years without any problems. A few months ago I have started to see an issue where I lose connection to my internet on my laptop, and wifi on my phone at the same time. I have wifi calling on my phone and it disconnects also at the same time. All of a sudden, everything will stop working, then about 40 seconds later, it all works again. I lost the connection maybe every 30 to 60 mins
Does anyone have an idea what can be causing this issue? Thank you.
It is really annoying because I rely on wifi calling for my primary phone, and I end up getting cut off when talking to people. BTW wifi calling is for all tmobile phones, but also normal wifi to surf the web on my laptop and phone drops too at the same time.

I would suggest that you isolate the problem. You may start the isolation by connecting a computer directly to the router (hard wired connection). Observe the connection for couple of hours. If the connection is stable, problem might be on the wireless settings of the rotuer. If the connection is not stable, do further isolation. Connect the computer directly to your modem. Observe the connection for couple of hours. If the connection is not stable, call your internet service provider. If the connection is stable, problem might be on the router itself. Upgrade the firmware first (firmware available in the website: Ver.2.0.03 Build 9). After the upgrade, reset and reconfigure your router.

  • I lose my internet connection every 5 mins

Why do i lose my conection every 5 mins? ive tried everything, turning off and on the air port, creating a new Wi Fi interface, i went to my school and tried Wi Fi there and was the same, so its not my home router fault, i have a MacBook Pro 13 in, Mountain Lion 10.8.3, i dont whats going on and im getting frustrated please anyone who had the same problems help me!!!

Thanks and I shall be trying these things - plus perhaps a new router (I have 2 now, and will try to just use the newest one - eventually might get an 8 port out as I have 2-3 computers plus 2 printers...)
Since I have 2 different ISP's (VOO and BELGACOM) I make sure to turn-off the one (unplug or if WiFi just turn-off WiFi). The eMac does NOT have WiFi.
The Belgacom modem has its own built-in WiFi - again the eMac cannot access that - other than via the PBG4 accessing that WiFi and the eMac connected to the PBG4 via FireWire 400 cable for internet access. That works and doesn't seem to cut-out.
I'll follow your other hints-- no "MINI" involved - just an eMac 2005 without WiFi and a PBG4 and my MacBook Pro-13" mid 2010 (and that seems to have a HD problem...)
I'm not sure how to "RELEASE AND RENEW" my IP address. Also not sure how to access the router LOGs.
DI-604 router is at least 6 years old---
Thanks for any reply - hope to get back to this later today -
    regards,
    Steve

  • WSAECONNRESET Connection reset by peer every 10 min

We are getting an error WSAECONNRESET Connection reset by peer every 10 min. We are running SAP on windows Small Business Server.
If I log in on server or within LAN it is working file without any problem. When we use WAN or outside network and connect SAP using SAP router it is giving an error of Connection reset by peer every 10 min.
I have reviewed OSS 155147 - WinNT: Connection reset by peer, 107407 - Win95: Connection Reset by Peer and 500235 - Network Diagnosis with NIPING without any success. I have played with registry parameters as per OSS 413330.
Could any one explain how to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance...

    > But the consistency is It reset exactly every 10 min.
Maybe you connection (whatever technical kind it is) resets connections all 10 minutes, maybe a firewall tears down the connection after that time... without knowing anything about the infrastructure I can just guess.
If the system is running internally fine without any interruptions then it's not a problem of the SAP system.
