Connection lost on Sleep and No power management tab in NIC to change

On a surface pro 3 with Windows 8.1, I lose connections when I lock the computer.  I've tried to go to the NIC adapter to change the power management option to not turn off when locked but there is no "Power Management" tab as with previous
versions of Windows.
I have multiple machines with this problem and any help will be appreciated.

Hi RepBill,
Consider the following scenario:
•You have a system that is an Always On/Always Connected (AOAC) platform.
•The system is running Windows 8.
•You install the July update rollup 2855336 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2855336).
•After the update is installed, you open up Device Manager.
•You open the Wireless Network adapter properties.
In this scenario, you notice that the Power Management tab is no longer available within the advanced driver properties.
This behavior is by design. For Windows 8, update rollup 2855336 implements this change for Wireless adapter miniports on AOAC platforms.
Power Management tab is not visible for some Wireless Network adapters with Always On/Always Connected (AOAC) platforms on Windows 8

  • T430 unable to sleep with Lenovo Power Manager installed

I have a T430 with Windows 8 installed with the latest BIOS and Lenovo Power Manager installed, and anytime I try to put the computer to sleep(with Fn+F4 or lid close), the laptop enters a stage where the screen is black and the fan continues to run. There's no way to interact/escape this except for holding down the power button.
After uninstalling Lenovo Power Manager, the sleep function works again, but the Mic Mute and caps-lock on screen display stop working in addition to the LED in the MicMute refusing to light up.
Is there any fix to this?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried all the updates and still have the problem. Sometimes it will sleep, other times it won't. Sometimes when it is trying to sleep I get a bluescreen for "DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE."

I have a Satellite X200 and I'm trying to access the power management tab in BIOS, however no such tab exists. The reason being is that I'm trying to set up an automatic start up time. If it is any help, the BIOS is Phoenix TrustedCore V.2.10
So I'm wondering where it is, or how to access the power management
    Thank you in advance

    Hello
Why you need an automatic start up time?
Sorry but such a function is not available. I never had a notebook that was able to set such automatic start up time.

  • Lost Beats Audio Control Panel, Windows Experience Index and HP Power Manager on fresh install...

    HP Pavilion m6-1035dx, product B5S06UA#ABA
Please help! I installed a 240gb SanDisk Extreme SSD and a fresh install of Win 7 home premium 64-bit OEM. I did not reinstall the factory OS and all that goes along with it. I have managed to reinstall all drivers (it seems) but am having the following problems: 1) I have installed IDT HD Audio Driver sp56953 but it does not provide the Beats Audio control panel, any idea how to get it? 2) The Windows Experience Index will not provide a performance evaluation, something in the system is providing it with an error message when it attempts to rate the system and it stops. 3) I have installed HP Power Manager sp57398 and can bring up the control panel but the changes I indicate will not stay applied, when I bring up Power Manager again it show that no selections are made. I knew this fresh install was going to provide headaches, please help if you can. Thanks.

I suspect this may all be related to a common cause.
When updating the windows experience index, what is the error message you receive?
Has the video card driver been installed? It is necessary for the windows experience index to complete.
Also, ensure the HP Software Framework is installed.  It is under the Software Solutions category.
You did a clean install of Windows 7. Has all the software and drivers for Windows 7 from HP been installed? Here is a link should you need it.

  • Mac Pro sleep / restart issues - power management

    1) Firstly, I read the "solved" forum about the restart / sleep issues. Nothing worked for me but there were useful links:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macpro.html
You can post the report to Apple (as someone suggested)
    2) On a separate blog, a poster stated "I called Apple Support a little over a week ago and was told by the “product specialist” to delete three power management preference files. I did. The next morning after a night of sleep, I touched the space bar and the Mac promptly rebooted..."
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THESE THREE "power management" FILES ARE???
    Thank you

I just had a quality callback from Apple:
the files in question are located in :
    hd (startup harddrive)/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
(almost at the bottom of the list)
trash the entire SystemConfiguration folder, then restart.
NOTE: this will delete your airport settings for e.g. a home network (you need
to re-input the settings for the home network).

  • Problems with SpeedStep and Windows Power Management: SYSTEM FREEZES!

I am running an E6600 on my MSI 975X PUE-Mainboard @ 2,4 GHz.  I am experiencing a strange problem that seems to be related to EIST and/or Windows Power Management:
As soon as I set Windows Power Management to "Presentation" or any other mode that lets Windows throttle the CPU frequency the system freezes randomly: no bluescreens, no error messages...the only option is to hit the restart button...
However, if the Windows Power Management Option is set to "Desktop" the system runs just fine!
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
    Any suggestions?

    @Vaniireg
Thanks for your reply, but I cannot agree.  Windows Power Management is needed in order to use Speedstep:
    http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/asmo-na/eng/203838.htm
    Intel clearly states that:
"An OS that supports Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology is required. Current supporting OSs include:, Microsoft Windows* XP SP2 includes native support for Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology."
    and further:
"Finally Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology must be turned on in the OS. Currently, for Windows* XP SP2 operating systems Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology by default is off. To turn it on do the following: Under Control Panel – open Power Options Under the Power Schemes pull down menu To turn Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology ON select, “Minimal Power Management,” power scheme.  To turn Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology OFF select, “Always On,” power scheme."
If I select the "Minimal Power Management" power scheme, the CPU frequency will drop to about 1,6 GHz and the Voltage (CPU-Z) to 1,136-1,144 V.  Whenever I do that the system will eventuelly freeze.  Skipping through a video file in Media Player Classic is sometimes enough to cause the system to hang.
If I select the "Always On" power scheme the system will run stable, no freezes will occur, but the CPU will ALWAYS run @2,4 GHz and the voltage WILL NOT be reduced to 1.14 V.
    @batcook09:
Unfortunately, a clean re-install of Windows XP Pro did not take care of my problem.  I've already tried that.  The system is not overclocked and is running with default settings.  Speedstep is enabled.
It is interesting to notice, that Dual Core Center always causes my system to freeze, even though Windows Power Management Options are set to "Always On".  I read a lot of bad things about this program and that is one more reason for me to avoid using it.
Well, I have forwarded my problem to Intel and MSI Support, maybe they will come up with any solution.
Until then, further suggestions are very welcome...

  • Bluetooth connection lost during sleep

Intel iMac frequently loses its bluetooth connection with a magic mouse during sleep and doesn't re-connect upon waking up.  A restart is used to re-establish the bluetooth connection. The iMac is a late 2012 model (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 21.5 inch screen).

as a workaround then I suspect that turning off the mouse and back on again will make it work

  • Udev and gnome-power-manager

    Hi,
Recently I upgrade the udev from 141-5-i686 to 145-1-i686 in my MSI wind. Then the following problem begins:
When the system boots this characters can be seen in the screen just before udev is finished: ^@^@
I can add more characters during the whole boot process if I press Fn+F5 (the brightness hotkey).
When gnome is running, in few minutes the screen change the brightness very fast, like blinking. This problem only happens if the gnome-power-manager is enabled.
    Downgrading udev fix the problem.
Does anyone know if this is something related with this particular version of udev, or can I do something to fix it?
I don't know if the following messages will help, because them can be seen with the current and with the old udev version. But they are the only ones that I think are related with hotkeys amb modules loading. So I post them just in case.

  • Connection lost between SA520 and WAP200

    Hi guys!
I have a problem with the connection between a SA520 and a WAP200. Following scenario exists.
    SA520:
two VLANs configured with following settings:
    VLAN1: 192.168.167.1/24
    VLAN2: 192.168.2.1/24
VLAN1 is for a dedicated network for some private computers connected to port one to four of the SA520
VLAN2 is for guests and bound to the optinal port of the SA520.
inter VLAN communication from VLAN1 to VLAN2 is activated.
One WAP200 is directly connected via ethernet cable to the optional port of the SA520 with following IP: 192.168.2.240/24. Two further WAP200 are existent and repeating the signal to increase the range of the W-LAN.
Now, if I ping from a computer within VLAN1 to the IP of the WAP200 (192.168.2.240) I get replies from that device. But after some amount of pings the connection between the two devices will be lost (no replies), and after 4 to 10 seconds the connection will be restored again. The weird thing is that I wasn't able to discover a reproducible scenario to hang the connection. Some time the connection between the two devices lives for ten minutes and some times it will break down after 30 seconds.
Does anybody have a hot tip where the fault for this behavior can be?
Thanks in advance and best regards

The Connector 1.0 spec does not provide any API's for testing a connection. The 1.0 RA's dont provide any testing capabilities to allow the container to do so. Even if some 1.0 RA's provide such capabilities, the container cannot rely on these non-standard features. So the container cannot really gaurantee that the connection handed to the application is good. There is no way to know unless the application uses it. The Connector 1.5 specification provides API's for test connections.

  • Connection lost after sleep mode

When my computer comes out of sleep mode, it's not connecting to the Airport wireless connection.  Waiting doesn't seeme to matter...the icon on my iMac (upper right on screen) shows no connection.  I have to manually turn off Airport and turn it back on to get it to connect (turning it off and on using the icon).
I have made zero changes to my system, other than that we moved to a new home.  No equipment changes...no settings changes.  What the heck is going on to cause it to no longer connect when coming out of sleep mode?  And more importantly, how do I fix that?  Thanks very much!

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • Differences between M30 and M40 /Power management

    Hi!
I own a M30x and have a problem with the power management utility run by restricted users. (XP Prof/SP2 - Toshiba Power Management Utility 1.27.2.1.
A restricted User cannot access the tool and the notebook runs in full power mode whether it has power supply or accu-supply.
In this forum i read that m40's latest power saving tool can be accessed by a restricted user.
So, the question is clear: What's the difference between m30 and m40 notebooks? Can I use m40's power saver on my m30 without causing troubles?
    TIA,
    Georg

    Hello Georg
As far as I know the tools and utilities are not the same for every notebook model or series. The notebooks have different hardware configuration and every tool is designed to work properly with own series.
Optical they are all the same or resemble but I am pretty sure that you can have problems using tool on your unit designed for another notebook model.

  • Mail Connections Lost After Sleep - sum up the sollutions?

In https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4268728?tstart=0 9 pages are spend on possible sollutions to this problem.
I had this problem, then it disappeared for quite some time, but now I have it again. I not remember what I did at the time, possible a suggestion from these 9 pages.
    - Is there an overview that someone has of all th possible sollutions, I am a bit hesitant in going through all the options.
    - it seems, looking at the last page, that there is not one sollution? which ones work best?
    Thanks

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application uninstaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Disabling power management on wireless nic

    Hi,
Is it possible to disable the power management/power save mode for the wireless nic in os x?  In ubuntu, it can be done using iwconfig (ex. iwconfig wlan0 power off )
    Thanks.

True, the connection doesnt get lost, but the Cisco Lightweight Access Points recognise the Macbook has dropped into a Low power/Power management state after a few minutes of no network activity. A show client on the console of the WLAN controller shows the client has dropped into a power management state after a few minutes of inactivity, not inactivity on the machine, but network inactivity.

This is enough to force a full re-auth of the client
Apple clients dont support Cisco CCX extensions so Key Caching cant occur, and full re-auth is required, which can cause client to lose connection.
If the client could be forced to keep the WLAN card active when the macbook is on there would be no issue. Seeing as OSX is based on linux, one would assume this would be a possibility to have this available as an option, even if it doesnt exist currently surely it isnt a limitation of the hardware, merely the OS.
