Connection lost when my MacBook goes to sleep
Why do I lose my connection when my computer is idle for a matter of minutes? What can I do to alleviate this problem?
There are numerous notes on these Apple forums on this problem. I had the same problem with two different Linksys routers (using WEP encryption). I finally solved one problem with an older router by updating the router's firmware. Just solved the problem with my newer WRT54GL router by following these MacFixIt instructions:
Open System Preferences and select the "Network" pane
Select "AirPort" and click "Configure"
In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for "AirPort network password" entries. Delete them.
Restart, or log out then back in.
Repeat steps 1-3, this time re-adding your regularly used AirPort networks to the list using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in

When my macbook goes to sleep from non activity when I return the wifi is not on. When trying to log back onto my hub it says it is out of time and I have to reboot each time. Most annoying, any solutions please?
If you are not using data and the iPhone goes to sleep, it will automatically drop the wi-fi, and will not reconnect until you wake the phone up. That is the way it is designed. The only way around that is to turn off cellular data while at home and on wi-fi.
Cannot answer the xbox question since this is an iPhone forum and I would have no idea. -
"connection time-out occurred" when my mac goes to sleep.
When My macbook goes to sleep I get a "connection time-out occurred" when I try to connect to the internet. and I have to restart my mac and restart the router. The is always a BT hotspot page displayed on the screen.
I have a 2011 macbook pro. This happens on my son's as well. he has the same model. he recently got a new retina display macbook and there hasn't been any problems. this doesn't happen on our phones either.

My 13" early 2011 macbook pro is having trouble connecting back to internet after going to sleep. before updating to EFI 2.7 it was perfect now after updating its gone bad.
Same issue here too. I will try reinstalling the firmware update. This has happend to me twice. The only way to correct the issue was to reboot.

I just updated my iphone 4 to ios6 and I can't keep the wifi connection when the phone goes to sleep. I need to keep entering my wifi password when I wake up the phone. How do I keep the wifi on each time I walk into my house without reentering my password?
What? Do you work for Apple?
I have been on the phone for Apple since 5:30 Eastern Time today. We are still on the phone with them. It is 10:14 PM. We are going to get a new phone because the ios6 has major problems! The wifi connectivity is a serious problem. Apple is aware of it. More people need to do something about it. I am willing to start a class action suit against them. I have means to an attorney pro bono. If you are having problems using your iphone 4 or 4s with wifi and ios6...I suggest you spend time calling a senior advisor and get a new phone sent to you. They know they messed up but they can't fix it. -
Apple tv loses home sharing when my computer goes into sleep mode
Just recently, my Apple TV says that home sharing is off when my computer goes into sleep mode. It never used to do that - any suggestions?
I have the same problem here. Always back-ed up with Time Machine (OSX 10.9 Mavericks) to Western Digital drives. MyBooks, MyPassport 1TB (USB 3.0), all works fine. Time Machine is actually doing back-ups overnight. Since I got this new 2TB MyPassport Ultra USB 3.0 it's working perfect during days, but every morning when I wake up the MacBook from sleep, I get this annoying error:
Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “MyPassportUltra”.
Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.
Latest successful backup: Today, 02:27 am
I'm also not able to write anything to that drive, or unmount it. It stil shows up in Finder, and I'm able to read all the data perfectly fine. When I do a Disk Utility Verify Disk directly after, I get this:
Checking volume
disk3s2: Scan for Volume Headers
Invalid Volume Header @ 0: I/O error
Invalid Volume Header @ 2000021315072: I/O error
disk3s2 is not a CoreStorage volume
Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk.
I don't click Repair Disk, as this will probably screw up my partition. Instead, I have to unplug the USB cable (which is bad for the drive, there's no time to park the drive's heads) and plug it in again. After clicking Backup Now, Time Machine immediately starts backing up, and the drive works fine the rest of the day.
I contacted WD Support, and they are sending me a booster USB cable. As System Information reports, the drive receives enough power though:
Current Available (mA): 900
Current Required (mA): 224
Unfortunately there's no firmware update for this drive, which will probably fix this. See this topic: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4196704. -

Recharging my iPod shuffle (3rd gen.) on my 2009 iMac (OS 10.5.8) goes extremely slowly (via usb port at the back). This is mainly because recharging stops when my mac goes to sleep. I just can't believe that Apple doesn't have a sollution for this, but I haven't found it yet... What's the most efficient way of recharging?
Purchase a wall charger for it instead.

When the system goes into sleep mode it keeps making a beeping noise. The system is shut down by holding the button in
and will then boot up again without any errors.
I Have replace RAMS, Motherboard and Power Supply. I have check the Bio's and Power setting on the unit. there is no place to cause this issue.
Please help
PC Power TechSyamak,
You didn’t specify where the beeping noise is coming from.
If it’s coming through your speakers, you could try to update your audio drivers since it’s possible they’re incorrectly sending a signal to the speakers as the audio chipset enters standby.
If the noise is coming from the motherboard, you’ll need to take a closer look at your system’s configuration or contact the manufacturer.
I hope this helps.

Why does FaceTime keep saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi?
Why does FaceTime keep saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi? My friend in Texas has tried to call my via FaceTime but for some reason, every time she does, it keeps saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi. Keep in mind, I am from Nebraska so we have the same time zone and I have an iPod 4 while she has a iPhone of some sort but that shouldn't matter because I am still able to FaceTime my friend in California, which is two hours behind me. So, I guess I just want to know why I cannot reach my friend in Texas. Please, someone help me!
-MukestinaApple has released a document which is reported to address the recent FaceTime issue.

RV082 V03 Randomly connection lost when firewall enabled.
Hardware: RV082 V03
Firmware: RV0XX-v4.2.1.02
Lan: 192.168.1.0/255
Static routing: 192.168.1.239 to 172.25.152.64/224
The unit is configured as internet gateway. 4 NAT ports are active.
When firewall disabled all works fine.
When firewall enabled I do get connection lost at random interval.
In firewall only 4 rules added to the default 3 rules. The added rules are:
1/ permit 192.168.1.22 port 25 to any
2/ permit 192.168.1.27 port 25 to any
3/ permit 192.168.1.10 port 25 to any
4/ deny any port 25 to any
I do get at random times connection lost when navigating with windows explorer on a PC with IP 192.168.1.x to a share on a PC with IP 172.25.152.74. The same happens when copying files. Sometimes it works, later it fails or reties are needed. When the firewall is switched off all runs fine.
Ping from 192.168.1.x to 172.25.152.74 allways give a <1ms response
Is there a RV082 perfomance problem or do I have a configuration problem?
Any help appreciated,
MaximHi Maxim De Waele
In an access list, there is always an implicit rule at the end, this rule is:
deny any any,
For this reason your firewall does not work well, if you want to fix it, at the end you add the next statement:
permit ip any any,
It permits the traffic flow through the network, except that was previously denied,or manually you can allow only certain IP addresses.
This is an example of the configuration:
permit 192.168.1.22 port 25 to any
permit 192.168.1.27 port 25 to any
permit 192.168.1.10 port 25 to any
deny any port 25 to any
permit any to any

Thank you

Macbook goes to sleep every 2-5 seconds
I recently had water damage to my macbook and decided to take it into my own hands and fix it. I took the topcase off and let everything dry, put it back together, and it started to work again. A day later my macbook started acting up and would fall asleep every 2 seconds to the point where i couldn't fully boot my computer.
Has anyone had this problem? And if so, what did you do to fix it?Thanks kdd,
If only it would fully boot into the hardware test without the screen turning off or the MacBook going to sleep!
I should probably add- A few months ago I changed the Keyboard/ Trackpad assembly and the sleep status light stopped working. Then about a week before this happened, the MacBook stopped sleeping after the lid was closed.
I'm also noticing now, that the screen backlight turns off for a few seconds before sleeping- this may just be the normal sleep procedure.
Does anyone know the part that controls the sensor of closing the lid on the MacBook? I have a feeling that is what's screwy and needs to be replaced. Is it some type of magnetic sensor? -
Why does playback stop when my screen goes to sleep?
Hi guys,
I have a mid-2010 MBP with MAC OS X 10.7.3 and itunes10.5.3 (3).
I've started to get this strange issue. When monitor goes to sleep, itunes playback stops.
I tray to change enervy saver option and I did this,
- computer sleep after 3h
- monitor sleep after one minute.
- itunes plays music
After one minute, monitor goes to sleep and so does itunes, why this is happening to me ?!?!?
This thing makes me crasy, since with other program playback (see VLC) I don't get this.
Please somebody help me in undestanding and solving this!!!
Thanks
RiccardoThe problem is that in lion "monitor sleep" means HDMI sleep too. So when you're listening to music with HDMI when your monitor goes to sleep, so it does your HDMI and audio through it!!
That's really non sense
