Connection mac pro and tv sony bravia

Hi guys, I got a mac pro 13" with osx 10.8.2 and I'm trying to connect it with a tv sony bravia KDL-40V5500 via HDMI cable.
I simply want to use the tv monitor as the mac monitor... I connect it with the cable dvi-hdmi but it doesn't work.
the tv firmware is the latest version available ( 2010), I' ve also tried with a samsung tv and it works perfectly so I don't get why with this sony doesn't fit.
the mac recognize the sony tv but the screen is always black... I tried with every hdmi port on the tv ( they're 4)
I also wrote to sony support team but the response was that must be an error setting on the mac...
every tips will be pleased
Andrea

  • Connecting Mac pro and iPad - same account different addresses

I have been reading the posts here and am a little confused about FaceTime setup.
I have an iPad with FT preinstalled. My Mac pro at home should be able to handle FT as should my MacBook pro. I understand that I can buy FT from the app store and it will work on all machines with my mac.com account.
Where the confusion comes in is people outside my account. If I am away from home with my iPad and/or laptop, will I be able to FT with someone at home? Since the home computer is registered to my Mac.com account along with my iPad, I know I cant connect to the home machine using the same account/email.
Can my wife or kids use FaceTime on my home computer with their own accounts to send or receive facetime calls from me when I am traveling? If I set up a separate user account for them on my machine will they have to buy their own copy of FT to access it (since activation seems to be tied to a .mac account) If they use their email while logged into my account, can I change the ft address on that computer back to mine when I get home?
this new app store activation process has me confused already, and the additional address need for FaceTime complicates the process even further. Any clarification on how this works and the possible limitations would be appreciated.

Just to be clear. There is no FireWire connection for the iPad.
To connect the iPad to your Mac use the cable that came with the iPad. Plug one end into the iPad and the other into your Mac.
Now, keep in mind that the iPad requires USB 2.0 on your Mac.
Also to transfer files you need iTunes 10.7 or 11.0.2 which is the latest.
iTunes 10.7 or 11.0.2 on your Mac requires OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or later.
Make sure your Mac meets the system and iTunes requirements before proceeding.
So start iTunes on your Mac. If it is iTunes 11.0.2 use the View menu in iTunes to view Sidebar.
    Then connect the iPad.
You will not see the iPad listed like a hard drive on your Mac. It will show up in the Sidebar of iTunes.
Finally, does your daughter sync her iPad to another computer? If so use that computer to add the movie to her iPad. Connecting her iPad through iTunes to your computer and syncing to add the Movie will cause all photos, music, etc. that were synced from your daughters computer to be deleted.

  • Connecting Mac Pro and Movies

    Equipment owned:
17 500GB external hard drives linked to Mac pro via USB and Firewire hubs

    My questions:
If I buy the AirPort Exterme Base Station will the 802.11n be as fast as hard wired USB and Firewire?
Will wireless enable me to stream ripped DVD's from my external hard drives through the USB connection via Airport extreme wireless to my Mac Pro to my projector?
    Many thanks

Not really. You can remote desktop from one computer to the other by the built-in Remote Desktop feature. You can't computer computing power

Go to sounds in system pref and select outputs. When the hdmi cable is plug into the tv it will show as an option under output. Just select that option.

  • How do you connect your macbook pro to a sony bravia tv with a belkin cord????? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you connect you macbook pro to a Sony Bravia tv with a Belkin cord!?!?!?!?!?!?!? We know how to set it up, but what setting do you put your tv on!?!?!? we have tried everything, but it wont work!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I have connected my mbpr directly to a Sony Bravia using an hdmi cable, then set the tv to use the corresponding input port, and it works just fine. Have also connected via airplay -> appletv -> tv (with the last connection via an hdmi cable), which also works fine.

    You are running 10.5.8
Did you try booting off your Install disk holding the c key down.  From here you can get to the drop down menu just a few clicks in (you are not going to install) and run  the Disk Utility>Repair Disk.  See if it will let you do this.

  • I am trying to hook my macbook pro to a sony bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. The same set up has worked with three other, though different televisions. Any thoughts?

I am trying to hook my MacBook Pro to a Sony Bravia TV via DVI to HDMI cable and the TV will not recognize the signal. I have used the same setup with three other TV's, each a different brand with no problem. Any ideas?

Is the TV set to take input from the HDMI connection?
On your computer, if you open the Displays preferences and do not see an Arrangement tab (or there is an Arrangement tab that shows only a single monitor) then there is something physically wrong with your connection.  Try clicking Detect Displays just to see if the computer can now sense the presence of the connection.  Check your connections.
If you do have an Arrangement tab, and it shows two screens, then click Gather Windows to bring the TV's Displays preferences on to your main screen if the TV is not yet showing an image.  Set the proper resolution (probably 720p, 1080i, or 1080p).  Set the refresh rate (probably 60Hz) if that preference is shown.  You should see a picture at this point.  I  recommend turning off mirrored displays if it is enabled.

    SMC RESET

    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.

You will need to boot from some alternate boot device to accomplish this, if you did not initialize the drive before installing it.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to use FireWire target disk mode.
If your MacBook has a DVD reader and you have a Mac OS X Installer/Utilities DVD, such as the one that shipped with it, you can boot from that DVD, answer only the "what Language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Then examine the Utilities menu or the Installer menu and Find Disk Utility.

  • Just got the mac pro and mouse will not connect.

I've googled the heck out of it and can't find anything wrong.  At this point I don't know what else to say but, the mouse isn't working. Checked batteries, went through ALL processes, and nothing seems to work.  All I get it the green status light blinking or it will say it's connected for 30 secs but doesn't do anything. If anyone else has any other help or info I would appreciate it.

How far is you mouse from the back of your mac pro and is there anything between those two points?  Beyond about 3 to 4 feet the MM on a mac pro for many people is problematic.  Here's a 24-page thread on this topic:
Poor Bluetooth reception and jerky mouse
Bottom line, use a bluetooth dongle (that what I use -- IOGear GBU421) or wire up an external antenna to the bluetooth card inside your mac pro.
As an experiment you could try doing a smc and pram reset and keep the mouse close to the back of your machine and seeing if it pairs up and stays connected.

  • Optical or analog cable for connecting Macbook 1,1 to Sony Bravia

    Hello
I have found a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter (plus HDMI cable) to take the video  from a Macbook 1,1 (all white) to a Sony Bravia TV. Now I need to find the right cable to carry the audio from the Macbook to the Sony Bravia. The Macbook has an optical (digital) audio socket (output?) and the Sony Bravia has 3 HDMI ports and 5 apparent audio jack ports (no idea whether they are 2.5 or 3.5 mm and whether they are analogue or digital). Please could someone advise me which or what sort of audio cable I should buy.
    Here are the Mac specs.

Many thanks for any and all help

OK. So I now have the sound connection working. The 3.5mm jack from the audio cable goes  into the headphone socket, NOT the optical (digital) audio socket on the Macbook, and the red and white jacks go into the respective red and white sockets (surprise, surprise) on the back of the Sony Bravia. I select 'Comp" as the input audio source in the TV settings, and the audio from the computer is broadcast perfectly from the TV internal speakers.
I am now waiting for delivery of the mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and have a question related to this.
The TV settings offer options for external devices corresponding to the ports on the TV, which include HDMI and Comp. When I have both the mini-DVI to HDMI and the audio cables connected, should I still choose Comp, or should I switch to HDMI as the external device. Will the TV be able to pick up input from 2 external devices at the same time although only one can be selected?

  • New Mac Pro and LED cinema display

Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching for it but none of the topics answered my question specifically enough.
I have a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display purchased less than a year ago. Will it connect to a new Mac Pro and what happens to the power cable that's attached to the LED display?

I have a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display purchased less than a year ago. Will it connect to a new Mac Pro
Yes. All the standard cards that come in the Mac Pro have one Mini DisplayPort. The 24"LED display will plug into that.
and what happens to the power cable that's attached to the LED display?
It is not used if you don't have a MacBook.
